The Braduk clan

"Ghash Nagraufom" - "The fire rises"

Founded centuries before the welp clans of the current Orc society, the Braduk clan was founded in Aegis by Baderkuk, first son of Braduk. Braduk was a famed a heroic orc who saved thousands of orcs after the legendary Clash of Clans war and founded the city state of Kenuk, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest Orcish settlements of its time. Known for their undieing loyalty, but also their gruesome brutality to those who have wronged them, the Braduks truely came to prominence during the end of Asulon, led by Wargoth Mokrag and throughout Anthos led by Wargoth Ghazkull. A great exodus took place, in which most of the clan left or simply died out. The Braduks were gone, until Kahn was born. Heralded as almost a sort of prophet, upon his birth it was foretold that Kahn would rebirth the Braduk clan and lead them into a new golden age.

Orcs of Braduk are the biggest Orcs in the Iron Uzg, baring towering heights and huge muscular builds. Their skin colour is a deep swampy colour of green, and they also have various shades of blue eyes. They do not take kindly to those who challenge their way, and have gone to war on numerous occasions to defend their ways of life. The clans, Ugluk and Gahktusk tried to wipe out the Braduks. Neither of those two clans exist anymore as a result.

The current Braduk orcs are of the warrior bloodline of the family, and as such are much more susceptible to bloodlust. It courses through their veins, taking hold in their very soul meaning their rage is much more violent. Their Wargoth Kahn is regarded as one of the most bloodlust ridden orcs of all time, and is a favoured son of the spirit of bloodlust itself, Enrohk. Kahn's bloodline's patron quality has become 'rage', as a result.  

Lords of the Rhino, the Braduks have grown up with these beasts and are the only orcs who know how to breed and tame them, therefore to see a non Braduk have these animals is a rarity. The most common sightings of this occurrence would be in regards to the Yar clan.

Wargoth: Kahn'Braduk

The title of Wargoth is the overall leader of the clan. His word is final, and he has the ability to veto any and all propositions put forward by the clan. The biggest and strongest orc in the clan, the Wargoth must be apart of the Braduk family itself. 

Warmachine: Ghazkoth'Braduk

The Warmachine is the second in command of the Wargoth's, he is to carry out tasks that are deemed not important enough for the Wargoth's attention, as well as disciplining the clansmen, but first and foremost, the Warmachine's duty is to protect the Wargoth at all costs. Those who take this title must swear an ancient oath in the old Braduk tongue.

Warboy: Drax'Braduk

The Warboy is tasked with all things techie, contraptions and such, but also is to act as a form of special agent for the Wargoth, tracking and hunting those who have wronged the clan.

Elders:

Elders are orcs whom have been apart of the clan for some time and show great knowledge and wisdom of its history. They act as guides and mentors to the younger orcs.

Clan rules and punishments

Rules

I. The clan comes before everything else, including you.

II. Every Braduk is a sworn brother and sister of eachother, and you are to lay your lives down for them when called upon.

III. Do not forget those who have wronged us.

IV. Do not forget those who have aided us.

V. If you slay, rob or betray your brothers and sisters, you will be terminated.

VI. Do not put personal wealth, political gain and power or anything else above the clan.

VII. Do not disobey your superiors.

VIII. Do not challenge your superiors without proper cause.

IX. We are of the Iron Uzg, show Iron will and Iron strength.

X. Follow Krugs code to your death. 

Punishments

All punishments can be issued at the discretion of the Wargoth. 

Blood Taloning: The offender will be placed on their knees with their arms restrained in a stretched out 'T' position. Their back will then be sliced open, created a large wound. The offenders ribs will individually be broken, before the lungs removed from the body, being strapped to the shoulder blades to form makeshift wings. The cause of death-suffocation.

Decimation: If any given party of orcs disobeys their superiors in combat or in a given task, the ancient act of decimation will be carried out. The group of orcs will be lined up, and usually every tenth orc will be chosen, and beaten to death with clubs by the other orcs. However, if the number is too few or simply one orc, the clan as a whole will engage in the killing.

Flaying: As the title suggests, the Orc will be flayed either lethally or non-lethally depending on the severity of the offence. 

Crucifixion: The offending orc will be nailed through his wrist arteries and Achilles heels to planks of wood in the shape of a cross, and left to starve or bleed out. Only when the body has completely rotted may it be taken down. 

Skrote'n: A punishment reserved for males who bare no children, should they commit a great offence against the Braduks, they will have their testicles cut off so that they, subsequently can not breed.

Uihnce: An ancient Braduk punishment, given out for only the most heinous of crimes. The orc, in full view of the clan must take an ancient Braduk weapon, a machete type blade known as a Golok, drive it into his stomach and slice it open, allowing his innards to spill out, therefore committing suicide. 

Traditions

• Giving out of the Rudis-

A Rudis is a short wooden sword earned by an orc of the Braduk clan once they have achieved a great and glory filled deed. Whether it be an immense servance to the clan, the slaying of a beast or taking many lives in a battle, an orc will be given this wooden sword by the Wargoth, who would have inscribed the story of as to why it has be earned, on the blade.

• Choosing Ceremony-

At the age of three, or when a recruit joins the clan, a Braduk must recieve his or hers Braduk rhino. A bond must be cemented, for they are as much a brother as an orc. The tradition goes as follows, the orc will enter the rhino pen where many un bonded rhinos are residing. Then, a rhino must take interest in the orc. They cannot be forced. Once a rhino has found interest in the orc, the two will engage in a klomp, a show of strength. If the orc can succesfully mount the rhino, he will go on to name it. From then until their deaths, the two will be bonded. 

• Initiation-

If a clanless Orc wishes to join the Braduks, they must be complete numerous initiation tests.  These tests can vary from obstacle
courses, to riddles, but usually include a klomp with the current
Warmachine of the clan (Which they usually do not win). These tests are
not about if the Uruk completes the tests, but the way they
complete the tests, which will later be looked over by the Elders of the
clan. If all aspects are pleasing and show good qualities in the Orc,
they will be sworn into the clan by the Wargoth.

• The Initiation Verse-

The Wargoth asks the the Orc to hold out his klomping hand, beginning to say the verse. He then places a cloth in the Orc's outstretched hand, lighting it with a flint and steel. At the end of the verse, the Chieftain sprinkles a small bit of 'Braduk zand' into the fire, which causes it to flare up, turn purple, then die down. At the end, something similar to "Welkum tu da Bradukz bruddah." is usually said by all attending.

Celebrations

• Blood Talon Celebration-
  A day to honour the glorious and honourable Mokrag'Braduk, the greatest Braduk to ever have lived. His life, his deeds and ultimately his sacrifice is the reason why the Braduk clan exists to this day, and he is honoured in an annual festival. 
• Kenuk Feast-
  A day of feasting and drink, celebrating the end of the Braduk Village
  wars and the start of peace. Various competitions testing strength and dexterity will be held throughout the day, prizes varying from the mediocre to the more valuable.
• Zpidhammah Day-
  Named after the weapon Braduk used in the village wars, Zpidhammah day is a celebration of the founder of the Braduk clan; his life, and his death in battle immortalized in the somewhat joyous occasion. On this day, klomps will be held, feasts will be had, and many stories of times long past will be shared to the cubs from the knowledgeable Elders.

Bloodlines

Those of the Braduk family, IE direct descendants to Braduk himself, are apart of an intricate and complex cobweb of bloodlines that have formed over the years, stemming from various family members. These bloodlines can predetermine personality traits, height, intellect, eye and skin colour etc.

Braduk:

The founding father for all bloodlines, there is a saying for those who stem from his descant, they are either destined for great or terrible things. All those of his bloodline are of a particularly larger build than most orcs, with skin ranging from various swampy shades of green to a dark brown.

Goregutz:

The founding father for the blessed bloodlines, which gave birth to the great leaders of the Braduk clan. Those of this line are the wise and noble orcs, who valued diplomacy and reason. Sadly, only one Braduk of this storied bloodline remains. This bloodline stemmed into other sub-bloodlines.

The Blood Talon:

The blood talon blood line were the most impressive intellects and tactical minds of the Braduks. Always one step ahead, those of this bloodline were honourable, just and the most prestigious orcs. They were of an average build with deep dark skin and signature purple eyes.

 

The Howlur Durub:

The howlur durub bloodline were the largest and most physically impressive of Goregutz's line, growing to a minimum of 10ft, the biggest being almost 14ft. They were walls of muscle and mass, fierce and feared. They had greyish borderline white eyes. 

 

The Black Moon:

The black moon bloodline was a disgraced line of the Braduks, baring jet black eyes. They were deemed to be traitors by the acts of the certain orcs who bore this bloodline, and would typically be exiled upon birth. They were unearthly cunning, and predominately evil. 

 

Orgrim:

The founding father of the warrior bloodline of the Braduks, Orgrim was said to be the greatest warrior in Braduk history. Those of his line are the biggest and strongest of the Braduks, much more so than those who were of the line of Goregutz. The current Braduks in the clan are descendents of Orgrim. They bare huge muscular builds and towering heights, and are a savage warrior people.

Line of Kahn (Rage):

 

Those who are of the line of Kahn are the smartest of Orgrims bloodline, but also the most well rounded warriors. A terrifying combination of strength and speed, these orcs care little for reason and are excellent killers. Breath takingly aggressive and hot-headed, the line of Kahn are touched by bloodlust much more so than any other blood-line known in existence, meaning that many of these orcs have a calling to Enrohk. 

 

Line of Ghazkoth (Psychotic):

 

The biggest and baddest of Orgrims bloodline, the line of Ghaz are ruthless, merciless, brutal, savage and they will not hesitate to make sure you know these adjectives. These orcs are walking tanks, packing a breath-takingly strong punch, and being able to absorb otherwise lethal attacks, merely shrugging them off. Orcs born into this bloodline will be sadistic and almost unable to process friendly emotion.

 

Line of Drax (Insanity):

Quick and agile, speed and distance are the words that best describe the line of Drax. These orcs strike hard, and strike often with radical speed. In addition to this, they are also batsh*t crazy, and will find the most savage ways to end their opponents in the least amount of time possible.

A silence like no other consumed the skies. A silence of thought, of hesitation and of desire. The universe came to a complete mutual stop as divine eyes turned hungrily to the mortal plane and all of its potential. Beings of great wonder pondered together, for many moons would they wait patiently, waiting for a chance that may never come. This chance was now. The Arch-Daemon toyed with the mortal plane like a kitten with a ball of yarn, so who is there to claim they cannot do the same?

Together, the Aenguls and the Daemons formed an assembly, and after eloquent debate it was decided that the time of watching had come to an end. No more would they lurk in the beyond, where their name was seldom spoken. No more would they be myth - this was the time for legends. Each carried a different will, many of which would conflict, and each wished for this will to become reality. They would part ways, and slowly, in unison, begin their approach to the mortal plane.

Poised on the edge of their reality and the start of the mortal one, they hesitated still. With involvement, came threat, from both mortals and Aengudaemons alike. But it was known that risks would be taken to achieve their goals, as the alternative was to live silently in the background. The great silence was broken by a single Aengudaemon's step, a step into the Mortal plane, causing the others to follow suit. And so one by one, did they descend.

History

    The Treebeard Clan was originally founded by Gloin Treebeard, the last son of Urguan. The Treebeards were named shortly before their ancient exile in Aegis. Post-exile, the Treebeards thrived in the Elven forests and became what are now known as Forest Dwarves.

    After taking to the woodlands of Aegis, many Treebeards chose to abandon the clan and start anew, as forest life was alien to them and was not deemed suiting. The majority of said Dwarves returned to the mountain under a new alias and were able to resume their cave-dwelling life, while others were not so lucky. The remaining Treebeards ventured forth to the magnificent Elven forests, where the clan finally settled down and built wooden huts and villages in the trees. Few Treebeards found spiritual influence by the Elves, taking to the path of Druidism.

    As centuries passed, the clan scattered throughout the land. Treebeard blood often mixed with that of their mountain-dwelling cousins, thus resulting in many Half-Cave and Half-Forest Dwarves emerging. Rendering it almost impossible to track down those of pure Treebeard blood, the clan nearly collapsed. Time continued to pass by, and the Treebeards seemed to go with it.

    Slowly, more Treebeards have begun to emerge from the world. At first, there was Saviticus, Druid of Spirit. Although he struggled with his family name and down the line became an Irongut, he soon returned to his true bloodline and took up the name Treebeard once more. Before his disappearance, in the islands of Elysium and Kalos, another Treebeard had emerged. Thudrin, once thought to be an Oakheart, found records kept by Saviticus assuring he was not. Thudrin followed the path that Saviticus drew for him, also taking to Druidism. Few others have recently popped up and claimed their family name, only to wander off and become lost once more.

    A common misconception is that all Forest Dwarves are Treebeards. Although most Forest Dwarves will have a connection to an ancient Treebeard ancestor somewhere in their family history, the Treebeards will only acknowledge one another as clan members if they are of pure Forest Dwarven blood. This means that they must directly descend from the original Treebeards and not have mixed Dwarven blood down the line.

Culture

    The Treebeards are not known for their phenomenal prowess in combat nor do they excel in being merchants. The Treebeards are simply known for trying to get the most out of life, living in luxury and making sure their mugs are always filled to the brim. The Treebeards show great respect and compassion for one another, always ready to lend one another a helping hand. Although they will never forget their ancient history with their mountain-dwelling cousins, the Treebeards will still show them respect, even if they fail to return it.

    Many Treebeards have been masterful at lumberjacking, farming, woodworking, drumming and especially brewing. Treebeards often enjoy casting out a rod on a hot day, or sitting by the fire at night to tell stories. Not all of them take to it, however many Treebeards have become Druids.

Appearance

    The Treebeards share the same traits as all pure-blood Forest Dwarves, simply because they are them. The Treebeards often have fairly large noses along with either green, brown, yellow or orange eyes.

    The Treebeards commonly have long brown and black hair, fading to gray and white when aging. Other colors such as dirty blonde have been seen however, such as in the case of Saviticus. The Treebeards tend to keep their beards short, either by shaving or simply genetics.

    The skin tone of most Treebeards ranges between that of a tanned human to an earthly brown.

    Most Treebeards are actually quite slim compared to their mountain-dwelling cousins. The reason may range from naturally a faster metabolism to a general increased amount of exercise. Their height remains unaffected though, ranging from three to four and a half feet tall throughout their lives.

    Treebeards often dress as adventurers and wear whatever they see fit or comfortable. Those that follow the path of Druidism often take to robes.

Religion

    The Treebeards have always been followers of the Brathmordakin. However, as Druidic ideals flowed into their culture throughout their many years, the Treebeards have come to follow a variant of the Brathmordakin that accepts the Druidic deities known as the Aspects under the two silver rings of Anbella.

Many mali'ker are orphans and castaways from their families, not knowing their origins or distant family. Some dark elves rather honor the Ancestors as a whole. When building a shrine they must be made in a way that respects your Ancestors. A shoddily built shrine of mud and rocks would be a poor representation of how you honor them. An average shrine is usually crafted from carved stone or lumber and have a small stone basin to burn particular offerings.

Family Shrines

Prominent amongst clans, family shrines are devoted specifically to their own fallen. These shrines often embody the characteristics of said family.  For example, a family known for their druidism could have a shrine grown from roots, or a clan of craftsmen could construct a stone shrine inlaid with various metals or gems.

Offerings

Offerings are often placed upon shrines as a way of the living to give back to the Ancestors. There are a few different types of offerings. Most times, offerings are things as simple as food or water, perhaps even wine. These are general offerings to the Ancestors, things that provided them with nourishment in life. Then there are offerings one might provide to a specific Ancestor. For example, the Uuthilini clan may offer sapphires or blue orchids to their Ancestors due to their traditions. Or perhaps you wish to simply make an offering to a specific Ancestor such as Khel or Kaldo. But I'll iterate upon these in their own section.

Self Presentation

Sadly, due to many bad apples, dark elves inherently have a bad image in how they're thought to appear. Hoods, masks, racy clothing, and outlandish hair dyes. And unfortunately some believe this is how they're supposed to dress. It not only shames our Ancestors but it shames us as a people to dress in such a way. However there have been the exceptions. Some dark elves choose to wear tastefully less clothing and simply decorate their skin in various paints or tattoos. They in a sense cover themselves and in some instances tattoos can tell a story or be dedicated to their Ancestors in written form upon their skin. Or maybe perhaps the they wish to proudly show their scars from battle.

Take pride in yourself and your people. Do not shame us and our Ancestors by dressing like a degenerate and flaunting yourself around like a street harlot. Ornate but efficient armors, elegant dresses, and finely tailored clothing. Let your passion and pride as a dark elf be shown in what you wear and how you carry yourself.

The celestial bodies continued their slow turn over the land of Athera as life continued as usual. Conflict was sparse through the land but something remained just under the surface as it always has - a tension present that has existed since the dawn of time. Slowly rumors of conflict broke out through the lands and many wondered if another storm was perhaps nearby... another bloody war.

But while all this was occurring to the far east ruined and desolate spires watched, haughty and abandoned. Stretching to the skies they boasted proud banners that fluttered violently in the atmospheric breeze. Far down below lights flashed in the tremulous abyss, dark clouds violently churning... but above, in the ruined city-state the remains sat in a somewhat peaceful bubble. Old shop signs swayed back and forth and the trees shifted in the breeze. Now overgrown and desolate the place was once full of bustling life.

However while the Mortal conflicts began to pick up another force was at work here - Events began turning in rapid succession... Slowly the more curious of the descendants began to connect the dots and realize something was occurring here. Dwarven priests, Human explorers, Elven researchers, and Orcish shamans began to progress further and further... and their curiosity would eventually turn them to the haunting spires in the far distance that have overseen their time in Athera.

Tomes spoke of the ancient city-state with reverence and awe, referencing the achievements it once boasted. Explorers have attempted to breach into the desolate ruins to little avail... but now, as it feels a storm is brewing, the descendants have turned to this ruined civilization... what could lay within?

History

Born on the last breath of Aegis, Iatrilemar had little comforts regarding family affairs. His parents Elessar and Natulciena fled the cities of Aegis, as the attacks of the Undead became more and more prevalent on them. Settling in a forest untouched by the hand of the Valah it was decided that this would be the place that Natulciena would bring Iatrilemar into the world. An elven birth was so rare in Aegis, let alone that of pure blood, that they couldn't have risked living in the shadow of Iblees. However with life comes death and Natulciena paid the ultimate price for the security of her child. Soon after birth she slipped into a sickness that would claim her life, while she might have lived if they had the proper medicines or healers. Elessar's life was also claimed by sickness within the first decade of his child's life but not before he would pass on the wisdom of the goddess Aeriel to his son. The loss of his parents would effect Iatrilemar's subconscious in some way and could possibly reemerge as some sort of mental illness later in his life.After living alone and fending for himself for half a decade Iatrilemar's lonely existence was paused by a nomad orc who found his way to the forest. The orc was mute and passive in his actions but for whatever reason he decided to stay with Iat, whether it be to protect him, or just because he was tired of being alone. The orc became a fatherly figure to Iat and is the prominent reason that Iatrilemar shows no racism or predejuce towards orcs. After a few years in the company of the mute orc the forest they inhabited was burned
and the orc slaughtered by the Undead. Iatrilemar was captured and became a slave for the Undead until he was inadvertantly rescued by the Ascended. After being saved he was reassured that Aeriel had called to him and vowed his loyalty to her however it wouldn't be to save the world only to repay a debt that he owed.

Iat soon escaped to the verge and then to Asulon where he began travelling again, searching for his calling. At first he was seclusive and refused to live in structured society. The first town he lived in was owned by a dark elf, named Isirack Rivenare, who would become a constantly friendly face in Iat's journey. The town name was Riverwood which was a ways north of Malinor and secluded from much of the world politics. Eventually the entire town was reintegrated into Malinor which forced Iat to move to Normandor. During his time in Normandor he started off working the farms before he took up the call for the Normandor guard where he would quickly rise in ranks and eventually be offered the title or High Commander. However due to his self-conscious, passive nature he would turn it down and instead embark on a journey for nearly a decade before the fall of Asulon. One of his favorite things about living in Normandor was his friendship with the High Princess at the time, Sythra.

Through his reintegration into the Mali'Aheral culture Iatrilemar has found complete balance in his life. He has come towards a neutral alignment because of the way he has learnt to process information. He sees life and death as natural processes. One may give or take life but one must always be conscious of their effect on the world. He doesn't act selfishly but he is also not selfless. He tends to be on a plain of existence where there is a pathway. A road of some sort that leads in a circle around a spectrum usually leaving him wandering about the epicenter. He feels emotions and he has "morals" but he owes nothing to anyone and it makes sense to him that each figure in the world should act solely based on their thought process and not allow others to cloud his judgement or influence him for better or worse.

What is written above is the general consensus of what you need to know in order to get started for roleplaying a Shaman, we highly encourage using your imagination to it’s fullest extent within reason. Below I will give some examples and give you a small taste of how to RP each type including Dark Shamanism (Which is more of a practice than a type.)

Elementalist.

Zugzug gulps as he slightly bends through his knees, raising his hands to chest level as he tunes in with the elements around him, requesting the aid of the elemental spirits as he balls both hands into fists, he then throws his fists forward in a mighty punch as a glob of liquid magma erupts from his knuckles.

Farseer.

Zugzug solemnly closes his eyes as he raises his staff to the sky, chanting and muttering in the name of Krug as the sky above turns more cloudy with each passing moment. Zugzug blurts out from the top of his lungs “Enrokh, blezz Krug’s cubs with lat might so we can stand victoriouz againzt da treachorous sharaa!”, a bolt of lightning then soars through the sky as it surges through each present Orc, energizing them with Enrokh’s unbridled strength.

Lutauman.

Zugzug unsheathes his mighty war-axe as he opens his gaping maw, letting out a deafening war-cry as he requests for one of the Ancestral spirits to aid him in battle. “Gromgok! Grant me lat strength agh me wyll bring glory in latz’ nayme!” Zugzug’s veins throb as his iris turns crimson red, charging the enemy.

Witch Doctor.

Zugzug clenches a little doll as various ornaments dangle off his clothing, he begins to shuffle about on his feet as his iris turns pale, his wicked gaze locked on Billy, he mutters and odd incantation “Eeee a’ Udrubal..”, as a faint whisper plagues the sky, cursing Billy with enfeeblement.

Dark Shamanism.

Zugzug throws down a desecrated crimson totem, he chants in Ixli’s name as the totem spews forth a ashen elemental, the elemental’s true identity trapped within the abomination. The Elemental rushes forth towards Billy, swinging it’s arm horizontally in an attempt to strike him.

There are many more things you can do being a Shaman, if you wish to move a mountain you can, if you wish to create rivers you can, if you wish to turn dirt into sand you can, be reasonable and don’t forget to have fun.

What is a Shaman?

Originally, Shamans were characterizations for orcs who had a thinner stature when compared to their brethren. They were thought to be more apt at intellectual arts rather than brutal, physical combat.

It is, in fact, from that characterization that Shamans might have been born. A Shaman, within itself, is an envoy of the spiritual and ancestral planes. They practice rituals to visit and speak to spirits. The Shamans have been around since the early days of Aegis, and their activity has wavered throughout the centuries.

There are other types of Shamans, including those who hold the ancient histories of the clan, lore, and look after the cubs. These shamans, sometimes called Clanmothers, are not what we are referring to.

Spirits

There are three types of spirits that a Shaman may interact with. These are:

Elemental: These spirits interact with the physical plane the most, containing spirits such as Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind.

Immortal: These spirits represent the cultural aspects of the orcs, and may also manipulate certain aspects of the world. These contain spirits such as Spirit of the Hunt and the Spirit of Fertility.

Ancestral: These are the literal ancestors of the orcish race, including Krug, his children, and the children after them.

To prevent confusion, the Elemental and Immortal spirits are usually referred to plainly as “Spirits”, while the Ancestral spirits are usually referred to as “Ancestors” or “Ancestrals”.

Different types of Shamans use these spirits in different ways, which you can read more about under the specific Shaman sub-types. Below, you will find more information on all the types of spirits.

Greater and Lesser Spirits

Not only are there three different types of spirits, but there are thousands upon thousands of spirits overall. There are an infinite number of spirits of Water, spirits of the Hunt, spirits of Lust, and so on. However, the most powerful spirit of a specific type (like Water or the Hunt) is called the Greater spirit. Every other spirit -- the ones that are not the most powerful spirit of their kind -- are called Lesser spirits.

A Greater spirit, as the most powerful spirit of its kind, rules over all other spirits of its kind (almost like a King ruling over citizens of a kingdom). When a Shaman wants to convene with the spirits, the Greater spirit will usually send one of its Lessers to deal with the situation.

The Lesser spirits themselves are always fighting with each other for dominance, but the shift between Lesser spirit and Greater spirit is one that seldom happens. It is very hard for a lesser spirit to gain enough power to challenge the most powerful spirit and take its place.

Spirits and the True Blah *

The True Blah (also known as the Old Blah) was the original language used by the Orcs during ancient times. It differs greatly from the Blah that Orcs speak now, and few of these Orcs today even know of its existence.

Because the Greater spirits were created back in these ancient times, all spirits speak the True Blah fluently.

Elemental Spirits *

The Elementals interact directly with the physical, mortal plane. They live in the Elemental Plane, and here, they view our world as the pure elements it is made up of.

The most common (and primary) elements are Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind. Other elements, like Space and Time are beyond a Shaman’s ability and understanding.

Primary: Earth, Air, Fire, Water

The elements mentioned above are the ones understood and recognized by the Shamanic culture, they are only able to use these four elements.

Immortal Spirits

The Immortal spirits encompass an entirely different aspect of orcish culture, rather covering the ancient, historical prayers and beliefs that orcs have had since the days of Krug. Whether it be the fabled spirit of the Hunt or the infamous spirit of Fear, there are many aspects of emotions and concepts that have been paired with a spirit.

Ancestral Spirits

It is said that when the most honorable of Orcs die, they pass through the Spirit Realm, and are put through a mystic trial to see if they are worthy to reside within it. For those that succeed, they live on forever alongside their Orcish brothers, looking down at their Descendants.

These Ancestors include Krug, Lur, Dom. Azog, and most of the other orcish descendants that came after them.

The Spirit Realm*

Located within an alcove of the Seven Skies, the Spirit Realm (or Frum’Stroh in the True Blah). It is split into three parts: the Elemental Plane (Voga’Stroh, from “Vogaumtar” meaning “Mystic”), the Immortal Plane (Narma’Stroh, from “Nar” meaning “No” and “Matuurz” meaning “Mortal”), and the Ancestral Plane (Stargush’Stroh).

Between all of these planes is an ethereal barrier. This prevents Immortal spirits from warring with Immortals and Ancestors, and so on. Once entered in the spirit realm all your ailments, lost limbs and the like will be healed for the duration, regaining full functionality of your body. Dying in the spirit realm equals eternal limbo.

The Elemental Plane

The first plane created within the Spirit Realm, the Elemental plane (Voga’Stroh) is a celestial realm. Because the elementals can morph the realm to their liking, it has changed drastically since its creation in early Aegis. One moment, the Earth elementals may be erecting a mountainous temple for them to reside in -- the next, they are living within mounds of the ground. This makes it hard for a Shaman to try to map out the spirit realm, and because of this, many of them have to feel their way around every time they visit.

The Immortal Plane

The second plane created within the Spirit Realm, the Immortal plane (Narma’Stroh) was created after the elementals requested seclusion. Once they had a plane completely to themselves, the Immortals immediately began warring and fighting. With each Immortal representing a heavy aspect of emotion, culture, or society, it was in their nature to bicker with each other. Nowadays, the Immortal plane is a flurry of warring spirits, hardly ever a restful place for a shaman to visit.

The Ancestral Plane

The last plane created within the Spirit Realm, the Ancestral Plane (Stargush’Stroh) was created after Krug proved his prowess of mastering and bending the will of the spirits. Here, the most honorable of orcish descendants prosper, living without the drama of war or bloodshed. It is said that sometimes, the greatest klomps in the Ancestral Plane can cause thunderstorms on the mortal world.

Totems*

Totems are able to be used in combat to enhance and store a Shaman’s power or abilities for future use, they are receptors where a Shaman can store a spirit’s blessing so that they may throw it down in combat either to directly attack the enemy with a powerfull spell, or to bless the Shaman with greater buffs. Using a totem in combat will require a greater amount of set-up time, but will yield greater reward, this also encourages counter play for they are able to destroyed in order to nullify the effect(s).

Totems are made out of any type of wood, usually Shamans draw odd and mysterious symbols on the totems that represent something. (This is where your imagination comes into play.)

Shaman Types *

Ranks/Titles*

Motsham: The Spiritual leader of the Shamans, this title or rank stands somewhat parallel to that of the Rex, he acts as the Rex’s spiritual extension and advisor, the Motsham stands as a beacon of knowledge and power that every Shaman may turn to for advice.

Andartar: Andartar have an advanced understanding of the Shamanistic ways, usually a heroic act of selfishness helps them achieve this rank but is not required in order to achieve the position of Andartar.

Elder Shaman: These revered Shamans are veterans in the Shamanistic way, they have been present for extended periods of time, guiding Orcs and other Shamans alike in their ways.

Shaman: These are the full-fledged Shaman of the Orcs, they have an adequate amount of knowledge and experience in the Shamanistic ways, this accounts for knowledge and traversing the spirit realm.

Journeyman Shaman: Journeyman Shamans have grown accustomed to the ways of the Shaman, they have completed a fair share of tasks but still have quite the journey ahead of them.

Novice Shaman: Novice Shamans have just been inducted in the ways of the Shaman, this rank signifies the beginning of a great journey.

Questions:

Q: How do you prove your worth to a Shaman to pick you to learn Shamanism? Is it as simple as asking, or is there trials of some sort one must go through?
A:

There's no usual process that any Shaman follows to pick new student, so each Shaman instead has different ways of choosing and telling whether the Orc or Otherwise is fitting for the role of students. Once a student has asked, a teacher usually takes him through several trials to test his skills and attributes. For me, I decided to write out these trials in the form of a forum post so I could keep track of his progress, but to also give the magic more publicity and such. They're usually quite obscure, and test the endurance, spirituality, honor and other favorable parts of the student's personality. If these tests are 'passed' in the eye of the teacher, then the real training will start, which usually involves long meditation and countless attempts at connecting to the spirits.

Q: Ramakhet - Spirit of the desert, barren lands, and sand. He is never seen and therefore is only represented by his name. Sworn to scour the world of all life at the end of time.

Would any shamans actually know about a spirit like this in game? If not how would a shaman learn of this spirit?

A:

Yes, the shamans would know the name of the spirit because of their travels in the spirit realm. There is also a festival that we hosted for this very spirit back in Anthos to turn the land into desert. We do not know what he looks like, but that does not mean we could not have contact with him taking another form in the sand or talking to a shaman through his feet's contact on the sand of the desert. 

Q: Are we aware of any Magic Plugin stuff for shamans yet, or will we be waiting for the techs to announce further developments?

A: 

A while ago there was a private message involving the current shamans to address the Magic Plugin and Shamanism, and some great ideas for spells and buffs were put forward. As far as i'm aware they were put forward to Telanir and the general outlines for them were clearly marked. If Locked subtypes such as Shamanism do end up being added, i'm certain that they'll suit out needs and follow the lore well enough to be used by shamans.

Q: Apparently, Oxtuk'Kog is the "Champion of Spirits". I have no idea what this means. Please help me. Thank you <3

A: 

Well, first I'll clarify that Oxtuk is champion of Gul'Thak, a lesser earth spirit. So, being the champion of that spirit means that Gul'Thak may give you some task from time to time. He's essentially deemed Oxtuk fit to help spread his influence and power in the spirit realm by serving him in the mortal realm. To be clear, champions for any spirit are not common. No orc just gets to start calling himself the champion of so-and-so. Oxtuk was specifically chosen in an rp event. Furthermore, a champion receives no special power/powers, unless the spirit happens to send him a temporary blessing at some point. Your orc may be expected to be a particularly devout worshiper of the spirit in question if you choose to rp that way though. So, part of what it means depends on your own rp. You can take it as a sign to start sacrificing to Gul'Thak more often, or wearing symbols or charms related to him on your person. It's basically up to you and Gul'Thak (Who is generally rp'd by BoogerBuster, so feel free to talk to him about it to further the rp in that area of your character's life).

Q: How has shamanism changed over the years? I remember our glorious technical leader Vaq being a High Shaman but I can't imagine the standard was very high then. What notable changes have been made since then? (Or atleast the earliest Gen you can remember)

Q: Is it possible for a non-Orc to become a Shaman?  I ask because I recall an RP situation where there was a Dwarf Shaman (It was more along the lines of an Orc's soul-trapped-in-a-Dwarf's-body kinda thing though.)

A:

Yes! There's a few reasons why this rarely occurs, however, most of them obvious, but others more complicated. Firstly, the magic is monitored by Orcs, and generally the teachers are Orcs, meaning that one must have a strong connection to the race to be trusted enough to be taught. Secondly, the spirits are very picky with who they choose to contact. The student must be especially 'honorable' and have favorable attributes, most of which are discovered by various trials which the student performs which involve the spirits. Though they may be completed by anybody, technically, the spirits' sense of honor is greatly linked to the Orcs', so one must fully understand Orcish culture before knowing how to complete the trials right. Finally, in an OOC perspective, the head shamans are very protective of the magic- mostly because of its complexity and highly powergameable nature. Since it's a locked magic they'll be very careful of who they allow to learn it, and that involves many discussions IC'ly and OOC'ly to decide whether the student wants to benefit the spirits and the Orcish race by learning the magic, or themselves. 
All in all, it's possible, yet difficult, for anyone to become a shaman should their motives be right and their relationships with the Orcs tight enough.

Q: Are shamans seen as only spell casters, or could you be a warrior type like shaman that uses the elements when he fights with his axe in battle?

The natural order is simply the way life is without our intervention. The way trees take root, the way animals live and die. We as elves are a descendant race, created not by the Aspects, spirits of the balance, but by Malin, the Creator's son. Where descendants step, the natural order is often disturbed.

Artimec allowed himself to open his eyes half-way. He was sat on the Cerulin docks, crosslegged. The wind had swept his hair, and gulls made their cries as they circled about the air, contrasting the sound of lapping waves hitting the pier below him.

Through dim eyes he turned his gaze to the green-sailed vessel that would sail the wood elves to the new land. The Verdant Maiden, a ship named after the green lady Cerridwen, mother spirit of the nature.

Our people move from land to land, yet they've never discovered their way.

It's about time someone forged a way for them, Artimec affirmed to himself, pushing his tanned body to his feet. "Nothing to be gained by staring off into the ocean." he muttered idly to himself, stepping off onto the southern road to begin a purposeful stroll south, towards the druid's grove.

Cerridwen the mother, and Cernunnos the father...the green lady and horned man created a pure world, a balanced world. Whereas other descendants bring destruction to this balance where they go, we mali'ame fit in with it, we strive to maintain and uphold it.

He stopped halfway through his trip. In a small grove surrounded thick with the forest, a ring of mushrooms surrounded him in almost a perfect circle. He knew what he'd stepped into. A fairy ring. Dangerous, but powerful. Sacred circles blessed by the aspects, where one could step into to hear the sounds of their creations.

Be a part of the balance.

He closed his eyes, now standing in the center of the fairy circle. His ears twitched as his eyes shut. He had tapped into the collective hivemind of nature, something descendant races were normally excluded from. He heard the thoughts of trees, plants, animals and insects. Not thoughts that an elf or human might think though, more primal, less coherent.

He grimaced, then forced himself to step out of the ring. Leaving fairy circles was always hard. It had a way of drawing you in to make you never want to leave.

We as descendant races are inherently disconnected from nature. We cannot understand its subtle intricacies. But we can learn, we must adjust our ways so we may be a seamless part of the aspect's balance. The race that upholds the natural order.

"What better way for our people to understand the balance than to step into these rings..."  The elf finally thought to himself, then began the path home, knowing exactly what he would look for first when they reached the new land.

Dungrimms Folk are the band of the Dwarven elite. Bound by blood, these Dwedmar are tasked in serving the Brathmordakin, upholding the morals set our ancestors and protecting the Dwarven people . This Clan of hardened veterans have forsaken the greed of petty politics and started life anew. Free of power grabs and fancy titles, petty rivalries and corrupt government, an alternative to the scrutinised Legion.

The Folk are selected for their skill in both Melee and ranged combat, training entails more than formation and subordination, the Order strives to rather cherish the individual traits and creativity that the Dwed can muster and use them as a weapon against foes. Simple Tactical methods that the Legion have used in recent years - (leading to the death of many Dwed) are both impractical and outdated. Studying the “Science” that warfare is, in it’s essence is training and rewarding to a warrior.

The Folk do not believe in the boundaries of Clans. Together, we are all brothers, regardless of Clan and sub race. This being said, it is equally accepted to stay fully affiliated to one's respective clan and fully appreciated to respect one’s heritage.

History

As a relatively new Order, Dungrimm’s folk’s path is yet to be taken, it’s story still to be written. This isn’t to say that the Order is not experienced, quite the contrary. The Folk consist of largely longbeards, Ironbreakers and Officers of the Legion, facing countless a enemy on the field during their time, and wholey proving their worth as esteemed an honorable folk of the Dwarven people.

The difference between the Legion and the Folk is that the Folk answer to the needs of the Dwarven people rather than the establishment of Urguanian society,, it isn’t about standing in line and following orders, tidying your cot or cleaning your tabard; it is about standing united for the greater good, which in many cases is the same interest as the Kingdom.

Initially the concept of Dungrimm’s Folk was pitched by the late Grand King Vorstag Ireheart, who passed proprietary rights of the Folk to his Son’s upon his untimely death, who then passed the title of “Rikkin” to his youngest brother, Vorstag II, a Dwarf who bears many similarities to his father.

Pvrpose

Simply, the folk strive to entertain an era of prosperity and safety within the Dwedmar. Protecting Dwedmar and the rights of all Dwarves and purging the corruption that lurks in all corners of society. The folk believe in the Dwedmar living up to their full potential, being a Folk of Dungrimm is a way of life, a mindstate, it’s achieving the greatest feats that are physically possible. Capability is inside every Dwarf, the trick is unlocking it and harnessing it.

Secondarily, the Folk believe strongly in the purging of Dark Creatures, it is c ommon for the Folk to sally out on a “Monster Hunt” type affair, if this creature is a threat to the Urguan or her allies.

Faith

All Folk are unconditional supporters of the Brathmordakin. They are all required to show sacrifice for their patron God along with monthly pilgrimage and weekly prayer. Doubt of faith results in immediate discharge until belief is fully restored, faith is the means of teaching all Dwarves the correct morals and ideals that all Atherians should swear by.

The Folk will answer to the Clergy if they so required it.

Further down, the house claims descent or kinship from Barbov the Black, its nominal description, Rovyk the Stern, Saint Julia of Paradisius, Saint Lothar of Balian, Saint Adrian of Leuvaarden, Blessed Jan Jeremi, Blessed Francis the Martyr, Blessed Otto of Vanderfell, and most importantly, coming from the loins of Exalted Sigismund himself, Prophet of Revelations.

The House stands as a ducal family in the Holy Kingdom of Oren, with Lord Karl III. holding the duchy of Haense, inherited from his Rovin uncle. Once, however, the family stood as Imperial Princes, the Lord and Lady Barbanov’s father, Alexander I being Emperor of Oren. Even so, from the Lord and Lady Barbanov’s maternal side, they were once Princes of the Hansetians, being of the now destroyed and defunct Kingdom of Aesterwald.

HOUSE BARBANOV OF HAENSE has no long lineage, that be accustomed to its parent houses of Karovic and Rovin, or its cousins of House de Sarkozy, House of Kovac, or even House of Vladovic. The House comes from the loins of EMPEROR ALEXANDER I CARRION and his wife, PRINCESS ARABELLA ROVIN, married per a peace contract between the Empire of Oren and the newly vassalized Kingdom of Aesterwald. The union, however, was nay a happy one.

After the start of the infamous RENATUS REBELLION, sparked by protests of the arrest of the Grand Knight, the Princess stole the two babes born of her and Alexander’s coupling; the twins Karl and Lorin. It is unsure how the Princess transferred the babes unnoticed, but eventually the twins found their way under the tutelage of PRINCE OTTO ROVIN, with their father deposed and presumed dead and their mother dying of a hunting accident. Under the guise that they were his bastards, the two babes eventually grew from sucking on the teat, to toddlers, and eventual kids, roaming the Waldenian Royal keep aimlessly, as children do.

Change appeared, however, when KING VORON I ROVIN died, replaced by his Raevir-hating son, KING ARN III ROVIN. It is under King Arn’s reign that the Raevir minority of Aesterwald was pushed out, killed, or worse. His hate went so far, eventually to curse HIGH PONTIFF DANIEL I, a known Carrion bastard, and declare a schism, putting his own kinsman Hubert as anti-Pontiff. Despite propaganda within the Northern kingdom, it did not bode well to the populace.

Defeat after defeat, and the SCHISM WAR, as it came to called after the Duchy of Savoy came to aid of the Kingdom of Akovia, rolled on. Desertion from the Waldenian ranks became more frequent, with even the King’s own kin abandoning his unjust cause. OTTO ROVIN, taking along the child Karl and Lorin, left the Kingdom (before, of course, posting the Condemnation of Arn’s Reign). Otto and the children fled to CYRIAUM, where he took work as the Papal Guard of HIGH PONTIFF DANIEL I. It is here where Otto finally told Karl and his sister of his true heretige, where the High Pontiff confirmed as true.

For the next ten years, Karl trained underneath not only his Uncle, but of the numerous heroes of the SCHISM WAR. As his uncle dealt with the political nature of the Waldenian Realm, Karl fought with the likes of BLESSED EMMA VLADOVIC, the woman-warrior with a thirst of heretic blood, the unifier of humanity himself, KING ANDREW I VYRDA, and the current king, KING OLIVER I ASHFORD. From the teachings of King Andrew and King Oliver, Karl grew to understand the affairs of state and nobility, eventually growing out from the child of a drunken uncle to a successful and witty statesman. It is also during the SCHISM WAR that Karl took up his name BARBANOV, after urging of his cousin and High Pontiff Daniel I, in honor of BARBOV THE BLACK.

After KING ARN III ROVIN died from burning down his precious Vanderfell and Eagle’s Perch, Karl joined his guardian Otto to pick up the pieces. Forming the unsuccessful NORTHERN COMMONWEALTH, Karl help fight against the Dwarves in the FOURTH DWARF-HUMAN WAR, taking a penchant to the killing of midgets and eventually, the High Elves who killed the fair KING ANDREW I VYDRA. It is then when Karl, with Vladov allies and the small retinue of the Commonwealth, took the HOLD OF HIEBENHALL, eventually to be named SIEGRAD, the new capital of the Northern Realm. Karl established himself as the COUNT OF SIEGRAD thereafter, holding the title to this day.

Once his guardian and uncle, OTTO ROVIN, left to go chase down rumors of Arn living within the secluded land of AELDIN, Karl took up the reigns of the Commonwealth, disbanding its entirety and eventually to name himself the DUKE OF HAENSE. As of now, the DUKE KARL III BARBOVIC stewards his capital of SIEGRAD, one of the most populous cities within the Kingdom, as well as working where his uncle left off: rebuilding the Northern Realm.

1.1 Overview

With the new election of an Okarir'mali, the housing system of our blessed Cihi are undergoing a process of reformation. Our previous system was inefficient and promoted stagnation, this new system will be quick, fast, easy to moderate and also allow for easier documentation. This system shall promote progress for our glorious nation.

2. Clarifications on housing

2.1 A definition

Housing is a building or room which acts as a person's place of living. In our blessed city, it is a privilege, not a right. There are a variety of rules (listed further below) that the owner of a house in our blessed cihi must follow, the punishment for failing to follow these rules may result in various consequences, the removal of their housing privileges is one of them.

2.2 Owner's pledge

Upon becoming a house owner, you agree to the following pledge. This pledge is a government contract, upon breaking it you shall be punished with that in mind. The pledge is as follows:

"As a house owner in the blessed Cihi of Haelun'or, I agree to uphold all rules regarding my home. Upon breaking said rules, I understand that I may be punished to the full extent of the state's law."

2.3 Eligibility

If you have one or more of the following qualities, you are eligible for housing in blessed Haelun'or.

-Citizen of Haelun'or.

-Government official of Haelun'or.

-Sillumiran.

-Orenian Official with long term business in the city.

-Esteemed guest.

If you do not have one or more of those qualities, you are not eligible for housing.

3. Rules & Punishments

3.1 List of Rules

Upkeep:

-You must always keep your home in good condition.

-You must not intentionally perform an act which may bring damage to your home.

-You must report any damage to your home to an official.

Compliance:

-You must comply to the requests/orders of any official. If you believe their request/order is corrupt or indecent report it to a triumvirate member immediately.

-You do not have the right to deny government sanctioned inspections.

Nationalism:

-Once they become commonly available, you must have the banner of Haelun'or displayed outside your home at all times.

-If you are physically incapable of raising the banner, you must request that someone able helps you.

Conspiracy:

-The use of your home as a meeting place to conspire against the state is outlawed.

-You may not board up your windows.

-You may not store contraband within your home.

-You may not commit any crime within your home.

-You must comply with the rules on regulated magic within your home.

-Doors may not be made of any material other than wood.

-Doors may not have an excessive amount of locks. Two are the limit, a normal lock and a deadlock.

Purity:

-You must strive to uphold the standards of purity within your home. Things that go against this standard can be things such as shrines to daemons and spirits or documents/propaganda that denounces purity.

3.2 Punishments

There are three stages of punishments, they are as follows -

Minor: A warning is given regarding the rule breach. The house is owner is also instructed to fix the problem.

Moderate: A final warning is given. The owner in question's house is also put under surveillance and given more regular inspections. This occurs on a second offence. It also occurs when the homeowner does not comply with the orders given after a Minor punishment.

Major: The breach of any Conspiracy or Purity rule leads directly to this. This punishment also occurs on third offences. The homeowner is also stripped of their home and all contents inside it at the time of the punishment. They are charged with breaching their government contract (the pledge on housing) along with any crime they committed to get to this level (if any).

4. Citizenship

4.1 Becoming a citizen

To become a citizen you must simply fill out the below application. Keep in mind all applications are automatically accepted. They will be reviewed some time after they are submitted and revoked if discrepancies are found. You will be notified via letter if this occurs. Those who are not Mali'aheral but want to become a citizen please seek out either Elokarir'Mali or a member of the Triumvirate.

4.3 Becoming a homeowner

Once you are a citizen you are eligible for housing. In order to receive your house, you must seek out the Okarir'Mali. If he is not present, you should either wait patiently for him to be present or contact another government official who will leave him a message. Do not send him hundreds of letters.

In accordance with the laws and decrees of the Salvian Constitution written and passed by the first Inner Chamber of the new Republic of Salvus, an election will be held this next Saint's week for all Inner Chamber positions and Guild Head positions. Candidates have been nominated and approved by the Inner Chamber for elections and registered citizens and passport holders of Salvus will be voting to decide who will lead the Republic and fulfill its voyage to Enlightenment.

-Bearing Arms-

A long debate was given was on this subject and neither side was able to reach a consensus.

It has been decided that both sides of the argument will convene and form a party that will campaign and debate over the subject. A general vote amongst the populace will be held to see which party view is held to the highest account. The turnout of this vote will affect the Inner Chamber's outlook on the bearing of arms.

-Tribune Campaign-

Two out of three candidates have accepted to run for Tribune! Giliath Haldar and Josiah Elendil are both expected to begin their campaigning very soon. They will be voted in by the Outer Chamber and the Inner Chamber combined so express your view to your Syndic should you be in the Syndicate, your Sentinel should you be a Peacekeeper or Curator should you be a Bard.

-People's Council-

It was agreed upon during the meeting that similar meetings should be held every four elven weeks. This new legislative body has made The Republic a tricameral entity. The meetings are now to be known as the People’s Council and it falls beneath the Outer Chamber in power. Its purpose is to bring forward issues considered by the populace straight to both the Inner and Outer Chamber. A crest for the new council is currently being made.

After much deliberation by the Syndicate, tax to run business within Salvus has been set at a base 100 minas. The amount is subject to change based upon how well the outlook of the company has been during the fiscal year. Due to this, all income books are due by the end of this fiscal year ((May 9th)). If the Syndicate fails to procure a income book from a company due to lack of logging and nothing was stated to an Overseer about it, the Syndicate will have apt cause to seize the company.

A lottery has been proposed and has been handed to the Syndicate to organize. The base prize pool is set at 200 and will be increased with each person who buys into the lottery. A person can enter into the lottery by buying in for 100, they can then buy one extra slot to increase their chances of winning by paying an extra 25 minas. Once the prize pool has reached 1000, the percentage of minas which goes into the prize pool will be reduced.

- These can be in any time frame, but no payment for works will be given until this is complete.

- All Guild members will go through a 1 week grace period, during this time period you will go through peer review. Through this we will learn what your motives truly are. If you are considered to be of anti-enlightenment in anyway we will be forced to take action. Your actions will be talked through with either the Curator, or Co-Curator and reported to the Inner Chamber. After which is a warning, after two your Guild application will be revoked, and denied.
