 THE SECOND SESSION OF THE ELEVENTH DIET

On the 9th of the Snow’s Maiden 2032, the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet convened on the matter of the reformation of the Diet to properly fit the changed political situation brought forth by the rise of the Imperium of Man and the general congregation of the Waldenian Houses under one realm. Also addressed were several matters of housekeeping, recognition of houses, and potential membership within the diet. Many matters were tabled for want of proper investigation and deliberation for the next session; however, 2 Knights of Vander and several squires were appointed.

The vote passed, 5-0 unanimous as 2 seats remain vacant.

As the voting concluded, two new Knights of the Vandorian Order (Phillipa von Reuss and Franz von Augusten) were raised by His Princely Highness, Erwin I, the Lord Vandalore and Elector of Reinmar, to unanimous approval by the diet, pending their oaths for they were not in attendance.

THE CALL FOR SQUIRES INTO THE VANDORIAN ORDER

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet, the Lord Vandalore put out a call for youths of Waldenian Blood to request Squireship, this call was responded to by Lord Ottomar of House Alstreim, Frederick of House Stroheim, Lord Adonis of House Rovare, Aviel of House Helfgot, and Katarina of House Augusten. Alongside this, further candidates stepped forth from House Augusten however House Augusten was limited to 1 candidate. The Lord Vandalore then put out the call for Vander Knights in need of Squires, those in response being Ser Konstantin von Augusten and Ser Manfred von Berkhoven. Following this, he assigned Lord Ottomar as squire to Ser Konstantin von Augusten and summoned Lord Adonis before him. Following the deliberation over House Rovare, Frau Katarina was granted Squireship under Ser Manfred, who expressed the availability to take on a second Squire, before the Lord Vandalore opened the floor to petitions from the Electors. 

THE DELIBERATION OVER THE WALDENIAN STATUS OF HOUSE ROVARE

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet the matter of House Rovare’s status as Waldenian was brought before the Electors, by the matter of Lord Adonis Rovare (the heir to House Rovare) petitioning for Squireship under a Knight of Vander. Following this he was summoned to the dias by the Lord Vandalore to introduce himself and the lineage of House Rovare before the diet. Upon being questioned, Lord Adonis and Ser Peter (his father) claimed Waldenian Status by 2 paths, the first being the right of blood, sharing the common ancestor of Houses von Augusten and von Leopold being Phillip Leopold Hill though notably of a bastard line, however this was also presented with the Rovares and the County of Stirland living by the Waldenic values and virtues, developing what could be (pending investigation and consideration) considered a distinct Waldenian subculture. This proclamation was met with much deliberation amongst the Electors and commentary from non-Electors of similar lineage, due to the previously unknown origins. Questions were raised by the Lord Vandalore in regards to why House Rovare had not approached the diet sooner, and the matter was put to a close following a speech from Ser Manfred von Berkhoven and a pending investigation by Lord Ottomar and was postponed to the next diet. 

PETITION TO RAISE HOUSE VON PREUSSEN TO ELECTORSHIP

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet the matter of raising House von Preussens to full membership and electorship of the diet was put forth by the diet, however due to their absence from the session, the matter was postponed until the next diet, thereby opening the floor to the next matter. 

PETITION TO FORM THE WALDENIAN SOCIETY

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet, Lord Ottomar of House Alstreim put the matter before the Diet to create a Waldenian Society, responsible for cataloging, investigating, educating, and overall managing the Waldenian status of minor or disputed Waldenian families for a unified Waldenian people and the facilitation of the creation of future Electorships. Alongside this, the previous matter of the Rovaran heritage investigation was brought forth as a potential task for this new society, as well as future similar matters of deliberation and investigation, and the upkeep of the Book of Waldenia. The motive received approval and assent from Houses Stroheim, Barclay, Augusten, Theonus, Helfgot, and the Bishop-Elector,  however, House Kannunsberg raised questions as to the difficulty and broad nature of the society's goals; however, Ser Manfred and the Lord Vandalore assuaged these fears and offered potential future goals and suggestions for the Society. 

VOTE: TO FORM THE WALDENIAN SOCIETY UNDER LORD OTTOMAR VON ALSTREIM

Though there was no official vote on the matter, the ruling is considered a unanimous Ja.

As the matter concluded, the Lord Vandalore expressed disapproval with the von Preussens lack of completion of the minutes for the previous diet session and issued a call for another attendee to take up the task. The task was initially picked up by Lord Ottomar before being moved over to Lord Peter Rovare. Following this, Ser Manfred von Berkhoven and Frau Cosima von Leopod voiced a desire to make petition before the diet. 

PETITION TO CONSTRUCT AN INDEPENDENT WALDENIAN DIET HALL

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet, Ser Manfred von Berkhoven proposed that the Diet petition the Imperial Crown for land to construct a permanent neutral Diet Hall for the Waldenian People, on the grounds of Imperial Unity, bias in favor of the Lord Vandalore, and a headquarters for groups like the Waldenian Society. However, due to the fierce debate and unsurity in regards to options of feasible and acceptable locations, the matter was postponed so research could be conducted. 

PETITION TO RAISE HOUSE VORKEHARDT TO ELECTORSHIP

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet, Sir Thomas von Theonus briefly proposed that House Vorkehardt be raised to the diet, possibly in a joint seat with House Theonus, however the proposal was immediately shut down by the Lord Vandalore and other electors on grounds of House Vorkehardt not following the path of the Waldenians.

PETITION TO RAISE FRAU COSIMA VON LEOPOLD TO ELECTORSHIP

During the Second Session of the Eleventh Waldenic Diet, Frau Cosima von Leopold approached the diet with the petition and intention of joining the Diet and being raised to Electorship. After the request was made, certain inquiries were made into the status, station, and residence of Frau Cosima, determining her Landless and holding no position of prominence within any Waldenian government. Following such, Frau Cosima protested the decision based on past Electorships, however the Lord Vandalore reaffirmed his status and authority upon the matter.

VOTE: TO GRANT ELECTORSHIP TO COSIMA VON LEOPOLD

Though there was no official vote on the matter, the ruling is considered a definitive no, until House Leopold meets the requirements of nobility, land, and populations. 

As the matter concluded, Bishop-Elector Josephina motioned for adjournment.

Upon Friedrich Hans von Augusten’s election to the Lord Vandalore-ship he has remained only the Lord Vandalore Elect but by his word it was the purpose of this Second Session of the Tenth Diet for the Elector of HOHENGARTEN to properly achieve his mantle and swear his oath. And so it was done. As the first order of business, the most senior among the Electors, that of REINMAR-SUTICA, was called forth to aid in the oathing. The Lord Vandalore confirmed his recent elevation by pledging solemn promises: he affirmed the Sacred Laws, he shall be the protector of the Vander folk, keeper of the Book of Waldenia  and for all that he shall do, in every ordonnance, as a true Vander. The Lord Vandalores make their vows before 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙 with the Diet as their witnesses, may the Margrave of Schwyz be up for the task.

Likewise, before the Diet's order of business began, all were reminded of SIEGMUND’s LAW. A law of the Regelwerk which was passed by a simple majority during the Third Session of the Eighth Diet and reaffirmed by unanimous vote during the Second Session of the Ninth Diet where it finally entered the Waldenic Regelwerk. As prescribed by the rights given to us Vanders by our Sacred Laws and blessed traditions, we are endowed with the right to self determinism and so shall not tolerate any wanton disregard for our customs, especially in such a sacred space as the Diet. For as we would surely defend the honour of our Church and the Almighty, we will also defend our sacred traditions.

 THE POSTHUMOUS AWARD OF THE FERRUM CROSS UNTO PRINCESS ADALFRIEDE VON HEXENWALD

As was recognised during the last session of the Tenth Diet, the late Lady Vandalore, 𝕲𝖔𝖙𝖙 rest her soul, was a true force for the Waldenian people. Her loss is still hard felt, and the numerous efforts she made during her service as Lady Vandalore are greatly noted. Waldenia lost a great spirit, and as such for her services to the Waldenic Diet, the Waldenian people and for her notable term as Lady Vandalore, her numerable contributions to the Book and laws of Waldenia, the motion was proposed that the Fifteenth Lady Vandalore, Princess Adalfriede von Hexenwald, be awarded the Ferrum Cross, posthumously. The motion was brought forward by the Lord Vandalore, a more than deserved merit, to honour the memory of the great Adalfiede von Hexenwald.

THE RENEWAL OF THE KNIGHTS OF VANDER

Since the eclipse of the Ninth Diet the state of the Knights of Vander has been lacking, to no fault of any person, but sole blame shall rest on the order’s stagnancy. It is the ambition of the Lord Vandalore to renew the reformed order and set off the momentum desired, for the knights to be existent anew. First at task, as proposed by the Lord Vandalore who also acts as the grandmaster of the order, is to swear in new knights. As such the first act in the renewal of the Knights of Vander is to receive nominations for knights, to be voted and confirmed by the Diet. The motion presented the Lord Vandalore brought forward two nominations, the Petrine Knight, Sir-Viscount Konstantin von Augusten, and the Waldenian mercenary Kommandant Manfred von Berkhoven. Both are proven fighters and good warriors known to the Vandalore. The ELECTORATE of MINITZ was the only other to offer up a nomination, that of their own Elector, Prince Erwin I Barclay von Minitz. All three men were put before the Diet to be voted upon, to choose whether they were to be instated as Knights of Vander.

With all three nominations affirmed by the Diet the trio of men were sworn to the oaths of the knightly Vandorian order, and shall henceforth be invested as true Vander Knights. They may take squires and shall act at the Diet’s bequest to uphold the Sacred Laws and defend the legacy of Aesterwald. 

MOTION TO RECOGNISE THE HOUSE VON PREUSSENS

First brought to the attention of the Diet during the First Session of the Tenth Diet, the matter of recognising the House von Pressens was postponed pending the investigation of the noble house by the Lord Vandalore. As promised the vote was held and the Lord Vandalore presented his findings before the electors of the Diet, so that they may have a better judgement on the matter. The Vandalore found the members of House von Preussens to be true Waldenians and perceived them to be proud Vanders. He also noted that the patriarch of von Preussens to be a loyal subject to his liege and would be an honourable servant to the Diet, as patriarch of a recognised family of Waldenia. Lord Joseph von Preussens was also given the opportunity to present his case before the Electors, before the vote began.

With the motion passed, the House of von Preussens is officially recognised as a legitimate Waldenian house, in the same vein as the Houses Von Leopold, Vourkehardt and Weiss. And are invited to attend every coming Diet session to sit amongst the Electors.

 THE INVESTIGATION OF THE INCIDENT AT CALLIOPEBURG

A matter that has often plagued the minds of Waldenians, since the Apostolic Aaunish Kingdom came under the Pontiff’s regency, has been the mysterious incident at the Chantry of Calliopeburg. Once a grand Waldenic monument, where the most faithful of Vanders were able to make pilgrimage to venerate Saint Calliope and other Waldenic Saints and Martyrs. Yet now the chantry is demolished and has been returned to nature. Many a Waldenian considered this a worrying event as it meant the loss of many holy Waldenian relics. The Lord Vandalore petitioned the Diet to allow the newly oathed Knights of Vander to begin an investigation into the incident, to unmask the truth of the incident. There is hope that all mysteries regarding the chantry may be resolved and with much hope the relics lost may be reclaimed, for the good of Waldenia.

A vote to consider the Pruvian house of von Preussens to become a recognised Waldenic house.

 ELECTION OF THE 17TH LORD VANDALORE

A year since passed, the ELECTORATE OF HOHENGARTEN, called upon the Diet to gather for the election of a new Lord Vandalore. Upon the untimely demise of Her Highness Adalfriede, the 16th Lady Vandalore, the Diet gathered instanter, upon the completion of a period of mourning, for the purpose of electing its next president. The Princess Adalfriede was elected Lady Vandalore, the year of our Lord 1979 and henceforth served as keeper of the sacred book, laws and culture, for twenty and four years. Following the 16th Vandalore’s expiry and subsequent mourning, the Electors did assemble under HOHENGARTEN’s host to elect the new Lord Vandalore. Upon the commencement of the 1st Session of the 10th Diet, one candidacy was put forward that of Friedrich Hans von Augusten, Margrave of Schwyz und Elector of HOHENGARTEN. The candidacy of the Margrave was presented by MINITZ, then REINMAR and MERRYWEATHER-ALSTREIM, the marcher lord was elected unanimously shortly thereafter, as the new Lord Vandalore.

ELECTION OF FRIEDRICH HANS VON AUGUSTEN AS THE 17TH LORD VANDALORE

Upon the vote’s conclusion, His Lordship, the Margrave Friedrich von Augusten, gave thanks to each of the Electors present, and vowed to make good their trust in him. He made mention of the previous Lady Vandalore’s great legacy, something to live up to,  and offered each elector his humblest of prayers. He shall make the pledge of Lord Vandalore at the beginning of the next session of the Diet.

MOTION TO REVOKE THE ELECTORATE OF VELEN

Upon Friedrich von Augusten’s election to the position of Lord Vandalore, the Diet then began to take any proposed motions by those gathered. The Elector of MINITZ presented the motion before the Diet, that of revoking the status of Elector from the then absent ELECTORATE of VELEN. During the last few sessions the absence of the Aschenwald-ers was noted. After the calls of HOHENGARTEN for the Electors to gather for the election of a new Vandalore, the continued lack of presence from the ELECTORATE of VELEN, and missing representatives, could no longer continue to be unnoticed. The vote concluded with the Electors in unanimity, the revocation of the ELECTORATE of VELEN was confirmed. The family von Reuss, from now on, shall simply hold the position of recognised Waldenic house and will be unable to sit amongst the esteemed Electors. Should those of VELEN wish, they may petition to have their status of Elector restored by vote, at subsequent sessions of the Waldenic Diet.

MOTION TO RECOGNISE THE HOUSE VON PREUSSENS

The Vandalore Elect called for final motions and Joseph von Preussens presented himself before the Diet, he was recognised and was asked to issue his motion before the Electors. After mention of Pruvia and von Preussen’s historic connection to Waldenia, and an explanation to the Electors of Preussens as the final end of that once grand house of proud Waldenians; the request to admit the von Preussens into the Diet was surmised. Joseph von Preussens’ speech and petition brought to conclusion, the Lord Vandalore judged to draw upon recent precedence and called for the House von Preussens to be examined ready for a proper vote to be held during the next session of the Diet.

In convening its fifth session, the Ninth Waldenic Diet has made history as the most prolific Diet. No other Diet has convened more than four times. This was a session of happy tidings, congratulating Friedrich von Augusten on his House’s elevation to the Margraviate of Schwyz within the Petra and awarding Erwin Barclay with a horsehair brooch, a symbol of coming of age in Reinmaren culture. However, this session also brought grave tidings of the fate of the Chantry of Calliopeburg.

The Lady Vandalore brought news that the chantry had burned to the ground, and that the holy relics of Saint Calliope were unaccounted for. She did, however, manage to recover two statues from the ruins; the likenesses of Saint Nafis and Saint Otto, both of which are on display outside of the Temple of Waldenic Martyrs in Kretzen. The Lady Vandalore will be embarking on a journey to Fausten to enquire after the missing relics.

THE RAVENMIRE-AAUN CONFLICT

Due to the complicated nature of this conflict and the involvement of many factions both Canonist and otherwise, the Lady Vandalore thought it prudent for the Diet to agree on a timeline of events. The origins and nature of the conflict, as understood by the Waldenic Diet, are as follows:

1951–1962 | The Aevos Coalition War is fought between the Grand Covenant and the League of Veletz, ending with a Covenant victory and the League of Veletz dissolved and dismantled. The ruling family of Veletz was the House van Aert.

1986 | Prince James of Whitespire is murdered by Queen Hedwig of Warsovia within the clinic of New Valdev, as she later confesses to in the Confessions of an Aaunic Queen.

1988 | Tiberias van Aert writes a public letter to King Charles II, accusing him of slaying his own brother, Prince James of Whitespire. Tiberias van Aert vows to kill King Charles II for his crimes. 

1988 | Men from Enswerp, a province of Aaun, aim to capture or kill Tiberias van Aert within the Duchy of Blackworth, a vassal of Ravenmire. They are unsuccessful, but kill Sir Yao of Ravenmire and injure Lord Constantine Haverlock, the heir to the Duchy of Blackworth.

1988 | The Pontifical Curia urges Tiberias van Aert to allow the Holy Mother Church to make its own investigations and bring King Charles II to trial. Tiberias van Aert responds, stating that he will not interfere with the Church’s investigation.

1988 | The Throne of Ravenmire releases a missive, The Crimes of Aaun, condemning King Charles II for kinslaying and accusing him of sending the men from Enswerp to assassinate Tiberias van Aert, who was at the time a guest of the Duke of Blackworth.

1989 | The rotting body of Prince James of Whitespire is discovered and recovered from the Royal Chapel within the Hand of Horen. Tiberias van Aert releases a missive, Kinslayers, Bastards, & Rotten Things which details the late prince’s discovery, allegedly confirmed by Mattia Cardinal Andrikev. Tiberias van Aert vows to deliver King Charles II to the Church for trial.

1989 | The Holy Church concludes its investigation into the death of Prince James of Whitespire. King Charles II, Queen Hedwig, and Ilya Ivanovich are summoned by the Interim-Auditor of the Tribunal of the Church of the Canon to stand trial.

1989 | The Sovereignty of Ravenmire declares war on the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun for the murder of Prince James of Whitespire and for the attack on Blackworth by men from Enswerp. The demands of Ravenmire are as follows:

I. King Charles II and Queen Hedwig of Warsovia are surrendered to the Church for imprisonment and trial.

II. The councillors and political allies of King Charles II are removed. All accomplices of King Charles II are to stand trial.

III. Tiberias van Aert assumes control of the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun as the Regent of Whitespire. 

IV. All formal titles belonging to the House of Alstion are dissolved or transferred to the Ravenmire War Council.

1989 | The Grand Kingdom of Urguan formally announces its intentions to fight alongside the Sovereignty of Ravenmire and Kingdom of Norland against the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun.

1989 | King Charles II writes to his allies, calling for aid. He states that the armies of Ravenmire march as the League of Veletz, with the purpose of the dominion of all Canondom. He claims that Ravenmire’s pagan allies, Urguan and Norland, will sack the hamlet of Enswerp followed by the holy Chantry of Calliopeburg, a Waldenian domain housing the relics of St. Calliope of Merryweather.

1989 | The Kingdom of Númendil and the Commonwealth of the Petra independently announce intentions to remain neutral in the Ravenmire-Aaun conflict.

1989 | Rhosyn Cardinal Albarosa, on behalf of the Church, calls for peace between Ravenmire and Aaun until the outcome of the Tribunal for King Charles II and Queen Hedwig.

1989 | The Lady Vandalore calls for an emergency session of the Waldenic Diet to discuss, in particular, the defence of Calliopeburg.

1989 | Queen Hedwig publicly confesses to the murder of Prince James of Whitespire.

1989 | The Lesanov Protocol is published, the parties to which are the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Kingdom of Balian, the Principality of Reinmar, the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun, and the Holy Church of the Canon. The following is decreed:

I. King Charles II hereby abdicates the throne in favour of his son and heir, King Godwin I.

II. King Charles II and Queen Hedwig are to take monastic vows and live the remainder of their lives in service to the Church.

III. King Charles II and Queen Hedwig are exiled from the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun and will live the remainder of their lives on the Isle of Dibley.

IV. The High Pontiff Deunoro I will hold regency over the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun until King Godwin I reaches the age of sixteen.

1989 | Cardinal Jean St. Godwin is excommunicated from the Church for his seditious support of King Charles II.

1989 | Leon II, Prince in Reinmar and of Minitz, releases the Vow to Tiberias in which he calls for Tiberias van Aert and the Sovereign of Ravenmire to lay down their arms now that King Charles II has abdicated and justice has been served. He vows that Reinmar will rise in defence of the Church should Ravenmire continue to march upon Aaun.

1989 | Rhosyn Cardinal Albarosa, on behalf of the Church, calls for Ravenmire to stand down its armies and cease its plans to invade Aaun. To do such would be to challenge the dominion of the Church. She states that the investigation into the attack on Tiberias van Aert in Blackworth is ongoing.

1989 | The Kingdom of Númendil invites Tiberias van Aert and representatives of the Church to engage in talks of compromise. The Princes of Canondom are invited to attend and witness the negotiations.

1989 | The Grand King and Grand Marshal of Urguan write to the Crown of Hanseti-Ruska. In light of the two-century alliance between the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, they request that Haense halts any and all support towards House Alstion and declares the cause of Ravenmire to be just.

1989 | Queen Amelya of Middelan, the Queen-Dowager of Aaun, petitions the Church to remove the Apostolic Kingdom of Aaun from the House of Alstion and instead form a greater papal state.

1990 | King Marius III of Hanseti-Ruska releases a response to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, stating that justice has been served with the abdication of King Charles II, and that the men of Enswerp who raided Ravenmire will be apprehended.

1990 | The Waldenic Diet convenes to discuss the Ravenmire-Aaun conflict.

THE PRETENDER EMPIRE

A certain missive has come to the Lady Vandalore’s attention, issued by one ‘Raqirer Horen’, the self-styled Emperor of Orenia. He claims restoration of the Orenian Empire and names one ‘Vander Horen’, a so-called Vander Knight, as a member of his personal guard.

Per the Orenia Decree of 1897, the Waldenic Diet must denounce any man or woman who would dare lay claim to the Kingdom, or Empire, of Oren without consent of the High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon. However, the Waldenic Diet has unanimously decided that this pretender releases his missives in jest, and will waste no time or ink on him until such a time as it is necessary.

The Lady Vandalore proposed two recipients for the Waldenic Symbols of Merit. 

The first was Ottomar II von Alstreim, twelfth Lord Vandalore and President of the Fifth Waldenic. She nominated him for the Ferrum Cross in recognition of his contributions to the Waldenian culture, both during his tenure as Lord Vandalore and after his abdication, where he became a Vander Knight.

The second was High Pontiff Caius I, formerly Brandt I Barclay, who died heroically at the battle of the Hexicanum. The Lady Vandalore nominated him for the Black Ferrum Cross in recognition of his acts of valour and noble death.

THE WALDENIC REGELWERK

NIKOLAUS von LEOPOLD, sponsored by the Electorate of HOHENGARTEN, raised the motion to introduce a rulebook to the Waldenic Diet. This Regelwerk would serve to compile and record customs, formalities, and petty laws that are not part of the Sacred Law of Waldenia, but are nonetheless important to the Diet.

If the Regelwerk was accepted, the first law enclosed would be Siegmund’s Law, first suggested by the Elector of VELEN, SIEGMUND von REUSS, during the Eighth Waldenic Diet. This law was voted upon and approved during the Eighth Waldenic Diet, but never formally written. After discussion amongst the Electors, the following wording was settled on and put to a vote to confirm.

Those non-adherents to the Waldenic culture shall not take up a seat within the Diet Hall, with the exception of guests who the Diet extends the honour to.

While not included in the wording of Siegmund’s Law, the intention was for this to extend to liege lords, their royal households, and envoys from the Salvian Syndicate.

WALDENIC SYMBOLS OF MERIT

Originally, this motion was to vote upon the criteria for awarding the Waldenic Symbols of Merit: the torse, the Ferrum Cross, and the Black Ferrum Cross. After some discussion, it became clear that this was not feasible without first seeing a list of all who had been awarded these honours. 

Talk also turned to the criteria for being inducted into the Waldenian Hall of Heroes, with a suggestion that all Waldenian soldiers earned a place in the Hall of Heroes upon death, while the Black Ferrum Cross was reserved for notable acts of bravery and valour. This distinction, as well as a motion to build a physical Hall of Heroes, will be raised once a list is compiled.

A matter that could be voted upon separately was whether these symbols could be awarded posthumously and, if so, a vote to bestow ULRICH LOTHAR von ALSTREIM with the Ferrum Cross for his considerable contributions to the Waldenic culture. The discussion turned soon thereafter to whether the descendants of award recipients were able to wear the award, as was stipulated in the Affirmation of the Waldenic Symbols of Merit, or whether this should be amended.

WALDENIAN RELICS

The Lady Vandalore intends to compile a Record of Waldenian Relics and sought the counsel of the Waldenic Diet on the criteria for a relic being considered Waldenian. Much like the previous motion on the Waldenic Symbols of Merit, it was deemed impractical to decide criteria without first seeing a list.

The Electors were called to submit a list of their respective Electorates’ relics for consideration at the next session of Diet.

The Lady Vandalore announced her intention to embark on a pilgrimage to Atheran Salvus, to pay homage to the Infant Martyr and visit each of the holy sites. She anticipated this journey would take two years, during which time an interim president should watch over the Waldenic Diet.

By simple majority, Minitz won the vote. The second session of the Ninth Waldenic Diet will take place within Reinmar, and the Elector of Minitz will be responsible for organising the Waldenfest portion of events.

BREACH OF THE VANDER CODE BY SIEGMUND WEISS

Siegmund Weiss was summoned to the Waldenic Diet for a breach of the Vander Code, namely to refrain from the wanton giving of offence. He was invited to speak on his own behalf, but instead the Lady Vandalore received correspondence from His Majesty the King of Haense and His Holiness the High Pontiff.

Recognising that a core tenet of the Vander Code is to fear the Lord and maintain His church, the Lady Vandalore respected the High Pontiff’s request to leave the matter to the Holy Mother Church. Thus, no vote was held, and there was no further discussion on the matter.

NOMINATION OF SQUIRES

With the reformation of the Vandorian Order and Order of the Black Eagle, it is paramount that the ranks of the Vander Knights grow as the glory of Waldenia grows. Each of the Electorates have the ability to nominate a prospective squire to be considered by the Vander Knights and Ritterkommandant. It remains the discretion of the Knights who they take on as a squire.

The current squires are Konstantin von Augusten, Erwin Barclay, and Konstantin von Theonus.

WALDENFEST

Many riders competed in the grand Reinmaren horse race, with Arthur emerging victorious. He was joined on his horse by Josefina Barclay. Junien van Leuven challenged Arthur to a duel and won, and while the duel was hard-fought, both men remain relatively unscathed.

We broke bread as Waldenian brothers and sisters in the feast hall, and Adelmar von Kanunsberg regaled the men around him with tales of the Franklands campaign in the Heartlands. With many more gatherings to come, it is my hope that Waldenia will forge closer cultural ties than seen before.

I look forward to experiencing this culture in person as I visit each of the Electorates over the next several years.

The rearing and riding of stallions is a long held tradition of the Reinmaren people which we are honoured to share with our Waldenian brethren. The winner of the race shall earn a braided horsehair brooch and a cash prize of two hundred mina.

Siegmund Weiss of Novkursain stands accused of breaching the Vander Code, namely to refrain from the wanton giving of offence. His words may also be in breach of the Code of Rights in terms of the inalienable right to worship. As a man of Waldenian blood, Siegmund Weiss is honourbound to follow the Code, and as the Lady Vandalore it is my duty to uphold it.

The statement in question took place during the XLVII Session of the King’s Duma in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. Siegmund Weiss is recorded in the Duma transcript as stating that Owynists are schismatics, and schismatics are worse than pagans. A needless and inflammatory comment for which he must answer.

Siegmund Weiss is invited to speak on his own behalf before the Waldenic Diet, or send a representative to do so for him.

It is my great honour to have been elected as the XVI Lady Vandalore and VII Margravine of Vanderfell during the final session of the Eighth Waldenic Diet. My long held duty has been to uphold Waldenian culture and see it prosper, whether that be the traditions of House Rademacher to which I was born or the customs of the Reinmaren people of whom I am a chieftess.

My election proves novel, for it is the first time since the Vandalore became an elected position in 1686 that a non-Elector has been chosen to hold this esteemed position. As per the Code of Representation, amended in 1947 by the Walter Amendment:

xxi.b. A non-Elector chosen to serve as the Vandalore shall be granted a non-permanent Electorate lasting throughout their tenure and no longer, unless raised to a permanent Electoral grant by the Waldenic Diet.

I hereby choose the Electorate of Hexenwald to represent my non-permanent Electorate.

Not only shall I swear an oath to uphold the Sacred Law of Waldenia and the Vander Code,  I also outline below my promises and goals for my tenure as the president of the Waldenic Diet.

✠ Update the Sacred Law of Waldenia to incorporate the approved Walter Amendment.

✠ Update the records to include biographies of the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Lords Vandalore.

✠ Update the records with an official list of the Electorates of the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Waldenic Diets.

✠ Update the records with an official list of current and former Knights of Vander.

✠ Call for a Waldenfest to be regularly hosted throughout the Waldenian realms, with each Electorate to host at least once.

✠ Require each of the Electorates to submit publications on aspects of Waldenian culture unique to their families and people.

✠ Work alongside the Ritterkommandant to swell the ranks of the Knights of Vander with valiant souls who will protect and uphold the Sacred Law and Vander Code.

✠ Encourage currently-lethargic sons and daughters of Waldenia to embrace their cultural heritage and, where appropriate, raise such patriarchs and matriarchs to the Electorate.

✠ Provide non-binding guidance to future Lords and Ladies Vandalore on the circumstances where an Electoral grant, and Electoral revocation, may be appropriate.

✠ Revive and uphold the Waldenic symbols of merit.

Following the untimely and tragic death of His Highness, Heinrich von Alstreim, Seventh Lord Vandalore, it now seems appropriate, after an extended period of mourning, that the Waldenic Diet should reconvene to decide upon the president of this next, eighth, diet. With all due respect given to the late Prince of Merryweather, may GOTT rest his soul, without a Lord Vandalore it is our whole people the Waldenians that are without a leader.

As stated by THE SACRED LAW OF WALDENIA; On The Waldenic Diet, xxii.

“The Waldenic Diet shall be dissolved upon the death or abdication of the Lord Vandalore, and reconvene for a new election following the mourning period.”

And stated by THE WALTER AMENDMENT; On The Waldenic Diet, xxvii. 

“The Waldenic Diet shall be dissolved upon the conclusion of the Vandalore’s tenure through death, abdication, or forfeiture, and reconvene for a new election following the mourning period should one be necessary.”

The amendment decidedly implemented into The Sacred Law, during the Third Session of the Seventh Waldenic Diet, 12 of Tobias’ Bounty, 1948.

As such, with Heinrich von Alstreim relieved of the duty of Lord Vandalore and the period of mourning passed, it is with this notice that we ask the electors, recognised families and all Waldenians to attend the first session of the eighth Waldenic Diet. With this, the Electorate of Einmont requests that the Diet convenes within the halls of Marignan and perform their obligation to elect their next Lord Vandalore.
