A Long Friendship

 

Over the course of 206 years, The Grand Kingdom of Urguan and The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska have upheld the strongest alliance known to this realm. It has led to a mustered force unlike any other, unyielding to any, including an Empire.

Our work together is what led to these split heartlands, for they are the embodiment of the Empire we brought down together, as brothers in arms. Not once has there been a reason to doubt the loyalties of a dwarf to the descendants of an old friend; we have always answered your call without a second thought. This was shown in the recent war to conquer Veletz, where the descendants of Urguan once again showed their willingness to blindly stand up for their allies first determined in the IRON ACCORD, 200 years ago. Us dwarves do not take our friendships lightly, we live long and so do our oaths.

To our friends in Haense,

 

Today we received a diplomat from your crown, Ser Caspian Colborn, your Lord Marshal. He was received with kindness, and with him he brought his own concerns about Haense’s willingness to uphold their oldest alliance. He seemed to acknowledge how sacred our alliance is in the eyes of the gods, for it has stood longer than any other - and he seems to understand the value it brings. Urguan does not pick and choose, for two centuries we have valiantly stood alongside your people, without doubt. 

 

We immediately delved deep into conversation about the ongoing war against the Alstion plunderers who attacked our allies. The good man Caspian acknowledges that we are not the evil, barbaric pagans who wish to tear down the church as the cravens in whitespire make us out to be. During this alliance of two centuries we have not once had qualms with your church, we hold a mutual understanding regarding our religions and coexist in peace. You understand this yourself, yet you have not yet spoken positively of us amongst a crowd of liars.

 

The leader of your military agreed with us that the cause of Ravenmire is just, as they were attacked by the evil Alstionites - and that Ravenmire may defend itself and rise against the oppression of a rotting dynasty. But that begs the question, why have we received word of our old friends rallying to defend those who have attacked our allies, using their political weight to aggressively pressure the leader of the church to let the Alstionite raiders prevail, all in the pursuit of defending the descendants of a kinslayer? The diplomat, whom you have entrusted with our sacred, ancient alliance, understands that this is not just. If Haense was attacked, Urguan would rally to their defense without a second thought, just as we did for the victimized Ravenmire. That is what an honest friend does, not a word would be exchanged with your enemies, only the clashing of our superior dwarven steel. 

 

The Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and all dwarves with it have declared to rally for the families of the wronged, Ravenmire. We do not expect Haense to do the same, as they are not your allies. We simply wish for you to uphold a friendship of two centuries, and let justice be served. Do not make the mistake of becoming servants of these new imperials, for the legacy of your father, his father, his father, his father, his father and his father is on the line.

 

The dwarves do not demand your swords like the Alstions do, but we will speak bluntly as to how we believe a friend should act:

 

1. Our friends in Haense will halt any and all support towards the ruling house of Whitespire, House Alstion, as they have wronged their fellow cannonists in Ravenmire, which Urguan, Haense’s oldest ally has declared for, thus preserving a friendship of two centuries. One that has existed longer than the rotten-apple-kingdom of Aaun, which is in itself a remnant of the former Empire of Oren that we fought so desperately against.

 

2. Our friends in Haense, in any and all meetings secluded to only canonists, will always be considerate of the interests of their oldest, dwarven friends who are likely halted at the door

 

3. Our friends in Haense will formally follow the word of their marshal, Ser Caspian Colborn and declare that the war-justifications of our allies is just, and will not stand in the way of justice as it is delivered onto a city held by the Marnan Brigade and their Alstion overlords.

 

4. The actions of the Kingdom of Haense will be in accordance with the words of Ser Caspian, as proof that your Kingdom speaks true and with honor. You will stand up against those that call us pagan barbarians, and not fraternize with our enemy.

 

In turn, The Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and all dwarves with it, will forget about our recent qualms with Ser Belisar and your silent dealings with the Alstions, and proudly continue to work to see our friendship reach a third century of celebrations as allies. We urge that you act with the interests of your oldest friends in mind, as we have always done for you - and if YEMEKAR wills it, continue to do so.

Snaer Frostbeard shrieks as he witnesses a diciple of Khorvad, the devil of the religion of all dwarves, so easily give up his disguise. He urges all of his fellow dwarves to read up on the history of the Empire in question, how horrible and despicable their people were. He then also urges all of his fellow dwarves to point and laugh at this lone worshipper of a rotten history.
