When dark creatures fill the forests and take innocent souls, the people are bound to react.

And they did. Ser Sorriel Kranakov and Lord Oswald Kingsley could not just idly stand by…

They knew action was to be taken against these vile creatures.

THE FOUNDING

HALFLINGS

When word reached both Ser Sorriel and Lord Kingsley about the abductions of Halflings in the Norlandic forests, they soon set up a meeting with each other. They discussed the situation and decided to start a branch of the Kingsley Company that specializes in the protection of innocent souls against these threats known as “The Gold Syndicate”.

FIRST PATROL

Ser Sorriel soon gathered a ragtag bunch to set out for their first patrol. On the 1st of Sun’s Smile, 278 S.A. they set out to patrol the general area where some of the Half-folk went missing. They had little to no luck in finding who or what caused these disappearances. They did, how-ever, find several clues as to what happened.

After patrolling the forest for several hours, they headed towards the Halfling shelter located near Brunnfell. They were received with the utmost hospitality and had a pleasant evening with the Halflings, until…

THE ENCOUNTER

They started to hear yodeling in the distance, carried by the wind. The stench of rot filled the room. They heard shuffling above them. The yodeling stopped. Everything went quiet. Too quiet.

The Gold Syndicate set out to investigate outside, where they encountered a creature that identified itself as “The Ashes of Death”. A filthy creature that carried the body of the well respected “Uncle Hick”. A ghoul…

When confronted by both The Gold Syndicate and a lone Norlandic Ranger, it set out to flee. The Norlandic Ranger soon shot an Aurum arrow in its leg, slowing the creature down. This gave the Syndicate a chance to catch up with it. Blasting Potions were thrown by Heyth and Ser Sorriel, arrows were shot. The creature was to be defeated. Lord Kingsley approached the creature when he saw one of his dear friends, Osbert Fidejus, charge the ghoul barehanded.

Ser Sorriel and Fullbody flanked the beast while poor Osbert took a grand hit to the head by the Ghoul’s mace. The Syndicate’s Musin known as Lutunia fired several arrows at the Ghoul,  so did the Norlandic Ranger. Their hits weakened the ghoul massively. Lord Kingsley attempted to drag Osbert to the side whilst others were closing in on the creature, but Osbert refused. He would not stand down for such a beast!

THE FALL

Both Lord Kingsley and Osbert soon joined the fight once more. The Norlandic Ranger was struck down and knocked out. Ser Sorriel and Fullbody closed in on the ghoul. 

As the Ghoul was about to plant its mace into the Ranger’s head, Lord Kingsley jumped between, readying his sword in between them. But before this could happen, Ser Sorriel and Fullbody made a beautiful co-operation of attacks that ultimately led to the smashing of the Ghoul’s head. The beast was slain.

Thus, the Kingsley Company’s own Gold Syndicate was a success. Its first patrol led to the saving of several innocent souls.

With this first patrol finished, The Gold Syndicate is now open for hire.

The Crowned Concord of Norland and Wynlomere

DECLARATION OF STANDING

Wynlomere is hereby recognised as a lawful vassal of the Kingdom of Norland, owing fealty and due obedience to the Crown and its rightful successors, and receiving in return the Crown’s protection, recognition, and lawful favour.

Upon the designation and grant of suitable lands by the Crown, Wynlomere shall hold, govern, and cultivate its settlement beneath Norlandic sovereignty, free from unlawful seizure, unjust contest, or undue interference, so long as the terms of this covenant are faithfully observed.

Thus, do we announce these Articles of Agreement, 

Article I - of Fealty and Law

The folk and lords of Wynlomere shall uphold and observe the laws, customs, and peace of the Kingdom of Norland.

They shall bear no arms in rebellion, nor knowingly give aid, shelter, counsel, or comfort to any person or power acting against the Crown, the realm, or the people thereof.

Article II - Tribute and Contribution

Wynlomere shall duly render such taxation as is lawfully agreed with the Crown, in measure and manner determined by rightful accord and established custom.

Beyond said tax, Wynlomere may, of its own free will, offer contributions of resources, alchemical works, crafted goods, learned research, or other material aid, according to the nature, capacity, and means of its community. Such offerings shall be received in good grace by the Crown but shall not be levied, demanded, nor compelled beyond lawful obligation.

All such voluntary contributions shall be given in service to the prosperity, learning, and enduring stability of the realm, and shall stand as evidence of Wynlomere’s good faith and civic duty.

No levy of arms shall be required of Wynlomere by right or custom.

In the event of a direct threat to the Kingdom of Norland, the Crown may lawfully issue a call to arms for the defence of the realm. In such circumstances, Wynlomere shall answer said call and offer aid according to its ability, whether by martial presence, logistical support, or other lawful means within its capacity. Wynlomere shall not be compelled to prosecute wars of aggression, nor forced into martial action against foreign realms save in defence of the kingdom.

Any martial service rendered by Wynlomere shall be given freely and willingly, and not by coercion or unlawful compulsion.

Article III - Of Protection

The Crown of Norland affirms and binds itself to the safeguarding of Wynlomere and its people.

Any act of aggression, unlawful harm, or hostile seizure directed against Wynlomere shall be held as an offence against the Kingdom of Norland itself, and shall be answered accordingly by the Crown and the realm.

Article IV - Of Scholarship, Craft, and the Arcane

Wynlomere is acknowledged and recognised as a community devoted to learning, craft, and disciplined inquiry.

The lawful practice of druidic, templar, shamanic, bardic, and allied magical traditions shall be permitted within the holdings of Wynlomere, in accordance with the laws of Norland and the strictures of the Red Law.

The study of other phenomena shall be permitted solely as restrained, supervised, and deliberate research conducted within Wynlomere’s own lands, undertaken for understanding, mitigation, and prevention. Wynlomere shall bear responsibility with the High Hearth’s consent for the oversight, regulation, and containment of such study, and hereby acknowledges the Crown’s right to intervene should any such endeavour pose danger to the realm, its people, or its laws.

The practice and use of such sub-magic shall be permitted only within the bounds of sanctioned teaching, instruction, and lawful study. Any exercise of these magic beyond the allotted periods of instruction, or outside such authorised bounds, shall constitute a breach of the law and be answered accordingly.

Nothing within this article shall be construed to permit the practice or use of outside-magic within the capital city or any place wherein such arts are forbidden under the Red Law or by the authority of the Red-Faith. The keepers will be assigned to ensure that this is upheld as watchful authorities of the High-Keeper and High-King

Article V - Of Continuance 

This accord is entered into in good faith and shall remain in full force and effect so long as its terms are duly honoured, the laws of Norland observed, and the peace of the realm upheld.

Here, a door is always open. Not to demand, but to welcome. It is not a court for the powerful, but a hearth for the tender-hearted. Artists, healers, wanderers, and philosophers walk the lantern-lit halls barefoot not by command, but because the house feels like home, and the past is already softening behind them.

The Three Guardians

At the heart of House Paravel stand three eternal flames, distinct but intertwined souls who do not command with crowns, but guide with quiet constancy. They are not rulers, but root bearers. Their bond is not forged in blood, but in balance. Together, they are the guardians of the House: its warmth, its strength, and its memory.

Talonnii Haelun: Mother of the House

The Haelun is more than a matron; she is the breath between sorrow and solace. She is the candle that never flickers, even in mourning winds. In her presence, burdens soften. Her wisdom does not shout, it settles in your bones like warmth after winter. Her hands hold tea and truths with equal grace.

She listens not to respond, but to understand. Her voice soothes the unspeakable, and her embrace is the one many never knew they needed. She walks the gardens barefoot, not out of forgetfulness, but reverence, for she feels the earth’s aches, just as she feels the house’s.

She is the first voice that greets, the last presence that comforts, and the ever-gentle steward of emotional weather.

To the Maln, she is light on stone, steady, enduring, needed. Together, they form the sacred axis on which the house turns: the warmth that welcomes, and the shield that endures.

She is not a queen.

She is not a judge.

She is a harbour: safe, still, and unconditionally open.

Leaf Maln: Father of the House

The Maln is the house’s grounding force, its keeper of calm, its guardian in quietude. He does not seek applause, for his strength is not performance, it is promise. While the Haelun weaves the warmth of welcome, the Maln builds the trust that allows it to last.

He watches the wind for changes. He listens to the silence between heartbeats. He tends to the archives with reverence, ensuring the stories of the house and the people within it are never forgotten nor misused. He is a protector not of walls, but of what lies within them: peace, people, purpose.

To the Haelun, he is equal and opposite to her steady partner in presence and philosophy. Together, they balance the house like root and bloom, dawn and dusk. He may not always speak first, but when he does, it is the truth the room was waiting for.

He is the anchor in the flood.

The calm in the chaos.

The quiet “I am here” when all else fades.

Garden Maun’na: Sister of the House

The Maun’na is the whisper-keeper, the echo-collector. She is the quill that weaves memory into meaning and the lantern that lights the path of remembrance. Not every voice can sing, not every sorrow shouts, but Maun’na listens to them all.

She knows the difference between silence and stillness, between loneliness and longing. Her parchment carries laughter and loss in equal measure, pressed gently between petals and pages. In the library, her words linger like incense. In the garden, her thoughts bloom beside the lilies.

She documents not just facts, but feelings. A historian of the heart, she ensures that no story slips through the cracks, and that every soul who wanders through Paravel is named, known, and honoured.

To the house, she is the echo of every beginning, and the echo after every end.

Together, they form the heartwood of Paravel, each a steady light by which the house orients itself.

The Haelun, the Maln, and the Maun’na are not a hierarchy, but a harmony.

When you are weary, the Haelun will welcome you.

The Moon Talonnii

Beyond the heartwood of the three guardians, House Paravel is shaped each day by those who quietly kindle its daily magic, the Moon Talonnii. They are not ranked nor ruled, but recognised. The Wanderlights: Stewards

The Candlescribes: Librarians

Candlescribes are the weavers of memory and lore, preserving every shimmer of House Paravel’s story like petals pressed in vellum. They do not merely write, they remember.

The Hearthtenders: Teachers

Spring - Festival of the Jackalope (March Equinox) - The Bloomwake

“The thawed earth speaks, and we remember how to grow.”

Spring in House Paravel bursts forth in laughter, colour, and small beginnings. The Jackalope, a creature of mischief and rebirth, is honoured during this festival. Eggs are hidden among the flowerbeds (some mundane, others enchanted), and residents wander barefoot, weaving garlands for strangers.

Crown-making stalls line the paths, and old griefs are released in the Burning of Grievances, where residents write past sorrows or fears onto petals and slip them into firebowls beneath the moon.

Festival of the Hippocampus (Summer Solstice) - The Embercall

Summer glimmers under the sign of the Hippocampus, the creature of motion and memory. It's a festival that honours accomplishment and pride, not just victories, but growth. Boat races swirl down the river, water fights erupt on balconies, and storytellers recount tales of triumph from soapboxes draped in silk.

All stars in the night sky shine for a reason. In the Bluefern clan, a child reaching adulthood is one of the most important events in the clan. Adopted at age ten under the wing of Flynnigan and Wynather Bluefern, Svala has been in the clan since its early days, and is the first child to come of age in the clan. She shows great care towards not only her younger sister, but towards all in Norland and her clan; showing the beliefs and respect the clan values so greatly. The Chief of Clan Bluefern, ever proud of her accomplishments and her hardships, holds this ceremony for no one else but HER. You are invited to stand by his side and give her support so she may start off her future right.

WHAT HAPPENS?

At a Bluefern coming of age ceremony, a great party is held, offering food, drinks, song, and dance. It’s a celebration of the future, and a recollection of the past. Stories of the young child are told and reminisced upon, as well as words of encouragement for the future given. After the tales, the Chief offers two items to the child, upon which they may choose either the spyglass, or a compass. 

The spyglass symbolizes the child’s wish to stay with the family, and upon taking it swear that they shall take upon the mantle of watching out for the other stjernes in the clan. The compass symbolizes the child’s wish to depart on their own outside of the clan to further find themselves, and are permitted to leave (but always welcomed back) once the ceremony ends. Once they choose one or the other, the child is officially an adult.

No judgement is permitted towards their decision, and any negative judgement will face consequences, as it is believed that a ceremony filled with encouragement blesses the child’s ceremony and future, whereas doubt and disapproval may seed in the child’s mind and shade it from growing to its full potential.

HERALDRY

The use of azure on the coat of arms is symbolic to the main virtues of the Bluefern Clan, as well as a direct tie to the name. Its use of multiple shades represents the many values blue carries, while still being the same color to show their interconnectedness. The blue represents honor, truth, loyalty, vigilance, and most important to the Bluefern Clan; hope and perseverance.

The gold border to the Clan coat of arms is yet another show of the beliefs of the Bluefern clan, representing generosity, wisdom, and illumination as those in the clan always keep themselves open to new experiences, perspectives, and knowledge.

1. DEFINITIONS

•  As used in this agreement, the following terms shall have the respective meanings indicated:

“Services” means any services to be provided by Cinctus Aurifex to Norland and its citizens as described and according to the terms specified in the contract.

2. TERM AND TERMINATION

•  This agreement shall commence on 10th of Sun's Smile and shall continue until in perpetuity, unless terminated in accordance with its terms.
•  Either party may terminate this agreement by providing a 3 month written notice to the other party.

3. SCOPE OF SERVICES

•  The Cinctus Aurifex agrees to provide a yearly lesson on alchemical, medical, and herbal knowledges (Either through a guild master or guildsman) within their allotted Guildhall set out in this agreement.
•  The Cinctus Aurifex agrees to take on Norlandic students when possible and willing, and as such Norlanders will be afforded posts within the Guild should they seek out such and bear enough aptitude to do so.

4. PAYMENT AND EXPENSES

•  For the services provided by Cinctus Aurifex under this agreement, Vjardengrad will provide a Guildhall.
•  Cinctus Aurifex will pay an annual tax of 25 minae for the Guildhall.
•  The Guildmasters of Cinctus Aurifex shall be given full rights as a member of the Eldrhird.

Under the setting of the Norland sun, Flynnigan and Wynather sparred eachother. Axe and swords crashed as the two practically danced in perfect unison, and one fell; bested. The two had just gotten to know eachother, and still the two were drawn like moths to a flickering flame. Over the span of six years, the two drew ever closer--until they finally shared a kiss under the stars of Solgaard. Six years of courting followed, where the two continued to spar; sharing love, worry, and hardships. Throughout every twist, they stuck together; supporting eachother no matter what happened. So, when six years later, the two returned to that spot under the tree in the setting sun of Norland, the same weapons crashing in a metallic symphony, Flynnigan couldn't help but drop to a knee as he did six years ago; only this time, to ask for her hand in marriage. Gylldene’s Exodus

I, Farian Malto-Gylldene, Chieftain of Clan Gylldene, hereby relinquish all land and titles from the Kingdom of Norland. I have served this nation for a century to the day, my blade and shield crossed and bashed against the enemies of Norland and her people, for the health of her people, for the survival of her people. I began as a simple civilian, joining in the protection of King Odin’s daughter as we and a small force fled the city under siege. When my arms were weak and my mind was untempered, the people of Norland had given me the courage to raise up arms. It was the roaring call, “Iron from Ice”, which once rallied the shieldwalls. When I had been trained by the Chieftain of Clan Sturmstrike, the suffering I endured was in service to the Kingdom we both served. As our people took refuge in the great walls of Ironguard, as the forces of the twisted Mori had torn Alisgrad asunder, as our nation lay in ruins and our people forced to defend the walls of Savoy, Norland still stood tall. When the people of Nyrheim were forced into the tunnels of Hel, I stood with them with my spear and shield. When we landed on these new shores, Solheim, I joined the Ashguard and swore an oath to uphold Norland’s laws, to protect the people, to protect the King.

Norland has lacked a King for over an Ashen year, yet my brother-in-law Váli has shown great ambition for the throne. He has fought and bled against the Chosen of Ailmere, defended our people against countless threats, helped bring the fabled Harrower, scourge of the North, to nothing but a corpse. I have seen the courage he has shown in the face of adversity, whether it is on the battlefield or in the meeting hall. He has always fought for the people of Norland, beyond what his blood would demand. Yet, the High Keeper ignores the call of Norland’s people to have him be King. As the people of Norland grow old and tired, she remains on the Ashwood Throne, unfettered by the decades of her regency. I fear that the Norlandic glory is dead, and that the nation which I have sacrificed for no longer upholds its ideals. To all my family, friends, and students, you may find me elsewhere, but not in the walls of Norland any longer. I shall live out my remaining days in peace.

PREAMBLE

Centuries ago, before the unification of Norland under a singular rule, the clans & peoples of this land upheld a variety of practices & customs, passed from generation to generation. Many traditions surrounding nobility, leadership, & the governance of land were preserved orally, kept alive by the wisdom of chieftains & elders. Few written texts have been uncovered that describe how these customs functioned, yet the fragments we do have—runic carvings on stones or sagas sung by the skálds—reveal to us the fact that leadership was earned through strength, loyalty, & tradition.

Even in the years following the establishment of the Kingdom of Norland, the structures of nobility remained inconsistent. Chieftains of great clans ruled through might, & loyalty was given by blood oaths & shared history. It was not until the time of King Edvard & the rise of the Red Faith that a formal hierarchy of leadership was established. However, the progression from Chieftain to Jarl, household head to Hesir, was not uniform. For many centuries, leaders emerged organically, based on their deeds in battle or service to their people.

In the Sixth Age, since the Descension, this has brought a need for greater consistency & order. No longer can leadership be solely a matter of bloodline or personal valor. It must now be structured in a way that reflects the laws of the Kingdom. Thus, we look to the wisdom of our ancestors & the guidance of the Allfather to establish henceforth Inn Eldrhird av Norland, whereby clans may be elevated to the status of Laird, Hesir, or Jarl.

The process of elevation is not one to be taken lightly. It requires a demonstration of loyalty, strength, & capability, for leadership in Norland is not a gift—it is earned. To rise within the Hird av Norland, one must prove their worth through years of service, command, & dedication to the well-being of the Kingdom. Just as the efforts of the faithful kindled the flame of the First Hearth, so too must a clan of the Hird be kindled by the efforts of its most noble members.

RISING INTO THE HIRD

In the Kingdom of Norland, it is not only those born into nobility who may rise to power & influence. The Kingdom values deeds & merit above all, allowing clans who have proven their worth the opportunity to ascend into the Norlandic Hird. Clans that seek to be raised must demonstrate unwavering loyalty to the Crown & the Kingdom. This is typically done through years of service, whether on the battlefield, in governance, or through great wealth which benefits the realm.

Aspiring clans are expected to accomplish significant feats that mark them as worthy of a place upon the Hird. This can include leadership in times of war, reclaiming lost territories, building strongholds or infrastructure, or providing key support in times of crisis. In many cases, aspiring clans must earn the recognition of existing members of the Hird. Having a sponsor or endorsement from a Jarl, Hesir, or Laird can be an important step in proving the worthiness of a clan.

The path to nobility is arduous & fraught with challenges, but it is open to any who prove themselves through courage, wisdom, & loyalty. It is a path that may take generations, as clans slowly build their reputation & rise through the ranks of service.

DUTY OF THE HIRD

From the first stone laid upon these soils by the hands of our forefathers, stewardship of the land has been a duty as old as the Kingdom itself. Those who bear the titles of nobility are tasked with ensuring the prosperity & protection of their lands & the people who dwell upon them. The harshness of Norland itself demands constant vigilance & effort, & the Hird must see to it that their stewardship is both active & diligent.

It is the duty of the Hird to foster the growth of settlements within their domains, ensuring the construction of hearths, halls, & defenses. Villages must be maintained, roads kept passable, & fortifications strong. This labor is not only physical but administrative, requiring foresight & planning to ensure that the land is cultivated well & thoroughly. A well-maintained territory reflects the Hird’s strength & dutifulness to both its name & people.

The Hird is entrusted with collecting taxes from those who live under their protection. These funds are necessary for the maintenance of the land, its defenses, & the well-being of its people. The Hird must ensure that taxes are collected, using the wealth of the land to improve the Kingdom as a whole.

The Red Law, as passed down by the High Keeper & the King, must be upheld within the Hird’s lands. Justice must be enforced by the Hird, ensuring peace & order is maintained. Whether dealing with disputes between common folk or punishing transgressions against the Faith, it is the responsibility of the Hird to ensure that the laws of Norland are respected & followed. The defense of the land falls squarely on the shoulders of the Hird. Bandits, raiders, & outlaws must be hunted down & slaughtered, for their presence threatens the peace & prosperity of the people. The Hird must maintain a force capable of defending their territory from such threats, leading raids against bandits & ensuring that their lands remain secure.

The bond between the Hird’s clans & the Ashwood Throne is forged in the fires of loyalty. Every man within the Hird has sworn oaths to defend the King, serve his will, & maintain the peace of the realm. This loyalty is not passive, but an active commitment that requires the Hird to be ever vigilant, ever ready to heed the call of the Crown

When the King calls upon the Hird, it is the duty of the Hird to raise a levy of warriors from their lands. Whether to defend the Kingdom from foreign invaders or to suppress rebellion within, the Hird must supply trained & armed men to serve the Crown’s cause. The strength of Norland’s armies depends on the loyalty of its clans, who must lead their people in times of war. The men of the Hird must be present at the King’s court when summoned, offering counsel, pledging their support, & participating in the governance of the realm. To ignore such summons is a grave insult to the Crown & a dereliction of duty. In court, the men of the Hird serve as advisors & witnesses to the decisions that shape the Kingdom. Every man must uphold the King’s Peace within their lands. This means not only enforcing the Red Law but ensuring that no internal strife, rebellion, or disorder arises. The Hird is expected to resolve conflicts, maintain order, & protect the peace of the realm, always with the interests of the Ashwood Throne at heart.

HIERARCHY OF THE HIRD

JARL

The Jarls of Norland stand as the most esteemed Men of the Hird, raised to rule the vast Marches of the Realm & those settlements therein. Jarls are responsible for maintaining the peace & prosperity of their domains. The Jarl's duties include not only stewardship but also the security of the Kingdom’s borders. In times of invasion or rebellion, the Jarl is expected to muster a great force of warriors, acting as a key commander of the King’s armies. Jarls also act as judges, enforcing the Red Law across their lands & settling disputes that arise among their subjects.

HESIR

The Hesirs are the sword-arm of the Hird, warriors & shield-bearers who have proven themselves on the battlefield & in their service to the King. A Hesir holds dominion over smaller territories or individual villages, where they act as both lord & protector. Their role is deeply tied to military prowess, for a Hesir’s primary duty is to defend the land from raiders, bandits, and foreign invaders, ensuring that the Red Law is maintained throughout their holdings.

Hesirs often lead their own warbands, composed of warriors sworn to their service. They are expected to raise levies when the King calls, leading their men into battle alongside their brothers in arms. In times of peace, they oversee the daily needs of their people, ensuring that the village is well-maintained & the Red Law is upheld.

LAIRD

The Lairds of Norland are the lowest of the Hird; though their domains are smaller compared to the Jarls & Hesirs, Lairds serve as the lifeblood of the Kingdom, managing the farmlands, villages, & households under their care. A Laird’s duties are largely focused on the stewardship of the land & the welfare of their people, ensuring that crops are harvested, taxes are collected, and peace is maintained. Lairds are often seen as the most direct link between the common folk & the Crown, acting as mediators in disputes & caretakers of their communities.

Its founding members each dedicated themselves to a different artform, from craftsmanship to music, to even the art of medicine. The clan continues to carry these artistic traditions by spreading the arts through their practice and their teaching. The most integral part of Clan Gylldene is the bardic practice and the magic of Bardmancy. The clan’s first chieftain, Farian Malto-Gylldene, introduced the magic to Norland, and since then the clan has adopted the custom of learning and teaching the artform in cooperation with the Vailu Valimiran Bard’s College. It was through this cooperation that the High Keeper granted Clan Gylldene land to facilitate cultural festivities. On this land now resides the Gylldene Fairgrounds where regular festivals and events are held.

As of today, the clan still thrives within Norland. With two amphitheatres, The Golden Lyre within Vjardengrad and The Gilded Goldfish within the Gylldene Fairgrounds, the clan is well equipped to continue the mission of expanding the reach of creativity. To inspire artistic expression, no matter the cultural barriers, is the greatest gift to the Gylldene clan.

♪ Clan Membership ♪

There is little clan hierarchy within Clan Gylldene since members operate relatively independently and diplomatically. There are only four levels of distinction, which are as follows:

• Chieftain
  • Clan Member
  • Family Member
    • Initiate

The Chieftain is the head of the clan and is responsible for maintaining order and representing the clan as a whole. When a decision is to be made, the clan looks to the Chieftain for mediation and facilitation of decision-making. It is also the Chieftain’s responsibility to guide clan members and ensure that the values of Clan Gylldene are being preserved.

Clan Members make up the majority of the clan’s ranks. Clan members have successfully completed their Trial of the Arts, or have married into the clan and been accepted by their fellow clan members. Clan members have two main responsibilities. One is  to continue upholding the clan’s mission, and the other is to vote when decisions require majority consensus.

Family Members are not official members of the Clan, but are related to a clan member through blood or through adoption. Family members hold no responsibilities to the Clan, but may choose to take on the name and responsibilities after completing their Trial of the Arts.

Initiates are those that have begun their Trial of the Arts. Initiates can be family members, but are most often people unrelated to the Clan. Initiates do not bear any responsibilities to the Clan other than completing their Trial.

♪ The Trial of the Arts ♪

The Trial of the Arts is an undertaking for those that want to become part of the Gylldene clan. The Trial is open to both family members, as well as members of the general public. An Initiate must choose a set of challenges that are representative of their artistic journey, either from their path so far or from the path they wish to take in the future. These challenges may be chosen from a preset list, or an Initiate may come up with their own challenges and overcome those with the approval of the clan Chieftain. Through completing these challenges, an Initiate must demonstrate creativity, artistry and, above all, compassion. Once an Initiate completes their Trial, a celebration is held to ordain them as a fully fledged member of the Gylldene clan.

Metagaming in roleplay is defined as using knowledge obtained out of character (OOC) and using it in roleplay (IRP) despite a lack of prior knowledge, and is a bannable offense. Anything you learn here must be learnt via proper roleplay and interaction before being used by your character . CELEBRATING A LEGACY

Family, and close friends, I invite you to the beginning of a new chapter, a new chieftain. After my Uncle Grimm Sturmstrike’s passing, he trusted Knox Sturmstrike to stand as a placeholder until I was prepared for such a responsibility. As I step into the role of chieftain, I saw it fitting to host a feast not only in celebration of this new chapter, but in remembrance of how far this clan has come. 

LOCATION

The feast will be held in the foyer of the Sturmstrike manor, nestled in the woods to the east of Vjardengrad, and just west of the Province of Dunrath. Doors will open at [8 pm est on November 9th], no sooner! This is to allow the family time to prepare the feast.

POLICIES

Of course, what would a proper occasion like this be without a little bit of extravagance? Invitees are requested to dress their best! Be it armor, or suit, or even slacks, any outfit is allowed so long as they wear it with pride! As for weapons and armor, there will be a ‘no helmets’ policy in place. This is to prevent any unwanted attacks from unsavory individuals. If your face is obscured, ditch the covering! Should such a matter take place, guests should be properly armed to assist in dispensing the threat.

Bringing a Plus one is allowed! If you are of the family of an invitee or a close friend invited along by them, you are welcome to arrive with them. So long as the group size does not exceed [2] plus ones, visitors are welcome.

To the guests that I have invited, each and every one of you have played a part in guiding this clan, or its members to where we stand on this day. Before I came to Norland, I didn’t have much of a purpose, even after Grimm’s passing I found myself lost, but with a nudge from Knox. I seeked a greater purpose, never did I imagine I’d be the chieftain, but I couldn’t be more grateful and excited for what the future holds. Thank you all for everything you have done and continue to do. On that note let us celebrate. To  a new chapter!

I: PURPOSE/MISSION STATEMENT

“Initially formed in the twilight years of Nyrheimian Norland, Clan Sturmstrike is the dream of a man that had lost everything, only to find it again through the All-Father’s grace. While mostly composed of humans, Clan Sturmstrike is a wild card among clans; a refuge for any fellow misfits ready to fight for the family they’ve found in each other. Whether it be investigation, surveillance, or even alchemy, Clan Sturmstrike always stands ready to do whatever needs to be done.”

Clan Sturmstrike can trace its true origins back to its founder, Grimm Halfaway-Sturmstrike. Having lost his parents to a deadly fire, he fled his old home and wandered the wastes alone for nearly a decade. After having stumbled through the gates of Alisgrad, he had a chance meeting with Ciaran Vildr, and his mother Herlissa. The actions of these two changed his life forever, sending him on a path to found Clan Sturmstrike on the principles that Lissa had taught him. “A storm can be chaotic, unruly…destructive if uncontrolled. But, make no mistake, it is always powerful.”

Construction soon began on the city of Vjardengrad, and Clan Sturmstrike had a clan house nestled within the walls. The clan kept chugging along, until one fateful day the Chieftain Grimm Sturmstrike was struck down, his body never recovered, but remains found in the form of his prosthetic eye. In time, his niece, Willow Sturmstrike took up the mantle as Chieftain, and began to rebuild what her uncle had once spent his life on, before he lost it to the very forces he swore to stand against.

Entrants are newly joined interested members of the clan. One can become a traditional Entrant, or be born as a Blood Entrant. Regardless of the method, an Ensign is considered to be going through a series of trials. These trials will test mental clarity, physical capability, and ingenuity. Because of this, the Ensign is encouraged to take their time, and make proper use of every resource available to them.

Kinsmen are Ensigns that have freshly completed their trials. For Blood Ensigns, this is typically when one comes of age. When completed, an “Arming Rite” will be called, as the members of the clan will hold a feast, followed by the Ensign being granted the custom weapon of their choice, signifying the path they will follow as a Kinsman. As a newly inducted Kinsman of the clan, non-blood members are now allowed to carry the name as Bannermen, so they may be expected to uphold the name with honor.

Officers take on extra responsibilities within the clan, whether this be keeping stock of the storage, keeping the books and vault secure, or smithing new weapons for the Arming Rites, and other such endeavors. As Officers are a specialized role, there is no specific method to become an officer.

The Stormcaller is the second hand to the Chieftain, and is considered to speak on most matters as if the Chieftain has spoken. They’re expected to help the Chieftain organize official family business, as well as carry the authority to take on Ensigns and monitor their progress.

The Chieftain is the leader of the clan. Needless to say, everything present about how the clan operates and maintains itself falls to the Chieftain. Their responsibilities are the greatest, but so is their respective power, as they are trusted with guiding the future of the family.

ARMING RITE

The Arming Rite is a process done as a rite of passage for Ensigns, as well as blood children when they come of age. The Rite’s first steps involve the crafting of a fine quality weapon that may serve the Ensign in their future. The craft is custom made to the Ensign’s desires, and the ceremony will only be done after this weapon has been made.

Once it has been completed, the clan members will gather to break bread together over a feast. The Chieftain and the Stormcaller will be obligated to speak with a toast before the feast begins. As the group eats the spoils of their work together, the Ensign is gifted their weapon, and honored before the procession for their progress.

Grimm’s final marks left on this world.

“I left something for you. Willow knows where it is.” Those were some of the parting words that Grimm shared with his kin shortly before his demise. The man had many secrets, that was apparent, but this one perplexed you for quite some time. In search of answers, the hunt led you to the attic of the Sturmstrike clan house-a dusty, dimly lit room filled with cobwebs and stacks of paper reaching nearly as tall as yourself. Brushing past cobwebs and dodging the scattered pieces of a fractured mind, you eventually arrive at his desk. Looking over the sight fills you with melancholy, memories flashing into your mind of the overworked man hunched over his cramped workspace, still with a smile on his face…the same one he wore at the moment of his death. Was this life comfortable for him? Did he just enjoy the workload, or did he find some joy in the never-ending chaos, a bright light within the raging storm?

Your brief reflection is interrupted by the sight of a box sitting on the desk. Small, inconspicuous, unassuming. Hesitantly stepping forward, your fingers trace over the smoothly carved wood, feeling for a latch of some kind, but finding nothing. Attempting to open the box, you find it to be locked, from the inside? Your head tilts in confusion, pondering over his words for a moment before Grimm’s voice echoes through your mind once more, reading aloud the words on the box. “The ties that bind are stronger than blood;speak to their power and I shall open.” Having no other option, you lean down towards the box, whispering, pleading to it to open and reveal its secrets.

A quiet thunk sounds from within the box. Then, the sound of skittering, like a dozen little legs running about inside. Eventually, you hear a KA-CHUNK! As the lid hangs loose slightly. The latch must have been undone from inside. Swinging open the lid, your eyes catch the source of the noise-a small ball, about palm sized, with six multi-jointed legs. Sitting in the box as well is a stack of letters, the top one bearing the writing “To whoever finds this.” Taking the tattered envelope in a shaky hand, you open the letter, and begin to read.
