House Tianrui is a long-standing and respected family of Yong Ping. One of the Four Founding Families of Yong Ping, founders of the first Chapter of the YPA, owners of the Tianrui Trading Company, and the illustrious Tianrui Teahouse. As the leading family of the Jade State, we wish to offer the membership of this family to those of strong character and warm heart. Show to the most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes of House Tianrui what you are willing to bring to the family at the Second Tianrui Matchmaking Ball, celebrating the turn of season, and a time of matchmaking.

The current members of House eligible for courting and matchmaking shall be revealed during the festivities of the Matchmaking Ball.

The Tianrui House members eligible for courtship and matchmaking will be presented anonymously and individually at the beginning of the event, after which members of the gathering may petition for their attention and an opportunity to speak with them. Following these introductions, the House members eligible for courtship shall reveal themselves from their guise to more personally speak with the potential courtiers. The ball shall culminate with general festivities and the eligible members of House declaring their choice.

Just Imagine.

A number of people gathered around the host club's entrance were being led into the building by a group of girls wearing maid costumes. 

The club was located in a very conspicuous spot down a street bustling with pedestrians. It had a signboard bearing its name and address, which could easily be seen from across the road. The girls guiding the customers to their seats all wore long aprons, so they were obviously members of the staff.

As the last customer went inside, the door was closed and locked behind him. The butlers and maids took off their aprons and put them away in a cabinet before appearing in several pairs of kimonos. 

One pair took one of the large tatami mats on the floor, while another pair brought out two small teacups and placed them on the table. These teacups looked like miniature versions of the ones used during a tea ceremony. They had been carefully polished until they sparkled.

Then, without any further ado, the butler poured the first cup of green tea. He then handed it to the guest on a bamboo tray.

"Please drink," he said, bowing slightly. The courteous butler would dip their head in an exquisite fashion as they waited for the customer to partake in the refreshing cup of tea.

The customer raised their head and smiled, drinking the liquid that was such a vital part of Oyashiman and Li-ren culture. 

As the liquid filled their mouth and slid down their throat, they felt a sense of relief wash over them. In addition to the taste, there was a certain pleasure derived from the ritual itself. This was especially true for those who had never experienced it before. 

The guest would often look about with a blissful expression on their face.

The guests were seated in a room decorated in a traditional Oyashiman style, complete with low tables and teacups. All of the walls were covered in paper scrolls. 

A single lamp hung from the ceiling. Each wall was lined with shelves containing numerous bottles and jars of various shapes and sizes. There was even a large mirror hanging next to the teapot.

The staff quietly left the room after taking care of the guests' needs. Meanwhile, the other maids began preparing for the evening's entertainment. They set out small wooden plates of sweet red bean paste, plum jam, and pickles. Then they arranged some fresh fish, vegetables, and rice balls in front of each guest.

They also prepared a large bowl of miso soup. 

When the guests were finished eating, they'd take the bowls back to the kitchen. Then, when the next round of visitors arrived, the maids would return with clean cups and serve the soup. 

The richness and texture of miso soup was perfect for serving as a light meal.

After leaving the room, a masked individual stands draped in moonlight—wearing an omote (Noh mask) as they expertly pluck the strings of the shimasen, an instrument made up of three sets of strings. 

The sound it makes is soft and gentle, yet powerful enough to fill the room. In this way, the shimasen works to heighten the mood of the audience.

Fog would seep into the teahouse from outside, as if the moonlight was slowly pouring through the window and enveloping the audience. The faint light gradually fades with the end of the song as the chill replaces the warm atmosphere and welcome.

In the dimness, the stage seemed to glow. On it sits a man with tanned skin and brown hair. His eyes are partially hidden by the ornate fan open in front of him. He wears a beautiful sakura flower brooch as a hair ornament and holds a fan in one hand.

His voice is rich and pure like the waves of the sea—a slight rumble or tremor as the sea’s bubbling depths. It carries far beyond the confines of the teahouse, penetrating the minds of the audience, soothing them, and gently washing away their worries. He welcomes you to the Tianrui Host Club (天瑞会館) [Tianrui Kaikan] with these words:

 "Good evening, everyone.

 I am Kin, the founder of our host club.

 My specialty is the tea ceremony, which I learned directly from my mentor, the esteemed lord of the house, Tianrui Ren-san. May we of the Jade State of Yong Ping Welcome You to the Tianrui Host Club!"

The event will be on The Grand Harvest at the 16th of Snow’s Maiden.

The union shall take place within the portside building; Jie-Lu One. Afterwards, a Nijikai (二次会), a less formal reception hosted just after the initial ceremony,  will be held in the same location. With catering, performances, and more taking place during the Nijikai."

A Wandering Performance, A Unique Acquisition

Dear readers, the Tianrui Teahouse invites you to a special night of feasting, music-making, and fervent bidding! 

On the 9th of the First Seed, SA 63, our establishment shall host an artisan of great skill upon the in-house stage to perform a concert of traditional tunes. His instrument for the night shall be one crafted by his own hand, exclusive in that he has never and shall never make another of its design; a zither of ancient inspiration, shaped from the finest quality of woods that populate the Yong Ping forests. At the end of his recital, the instrument shall be auctioned off then and there, open to anyone in the crowd willing to put themselves forth!

An important note must be made regarding this auction:

To bid, you are NOT required to offer anything of monetary or otherwise material value.

You are more than welcome to bring such, certainly to purchase food or beverages, but the artisan wishes to especially encourage the attendance of those who may not have the financial means to purchase an instrument on their own. It is his hope that the auction shall not be decided by mina - as such, he shall be running the auction in a manner quite unconventional. If you are curious, come along!

No need to worry about being a little late - I planned the performance first for a reason!

Those of the Jade State of Yong Ping had no need to gather as the New Century Festival commenced, already packed together due to the creatures who had hastily taken over their city. Ever different then the previous Century, and yet the same, as they’d been packed akin to sardines in the district of Tai Ping. Conflict followed them in both instances, as some things never did change and yet, so much was indeed different.

And yet as they began their celebrations, bringing a moment of respite in their long years, it all began with a retelling of the Story of the Nian. An age old curse that has followed them no matter the lands they made our home, a creature of varying forms, hardly recognizable without the warnings passed on by the generations before them.

With the mention of the Nian, perhaps akin to that of a dinners gong being rung, it had appeared. Having taken on a new form then it did the previous century, the tired denizens of the Jade State took up arms, weapons and firecrackers at the ready, ever-more prepared than the last Century to defend their home and their state.

And so the battle raged on, the Nian heralded off for perhaps another century and a blessing in of itself came in the process. With the leaving of the Nian, so did the rest of these creatures inhabiting their fair city. Had they feared the creature that haunted them so? Or perhaps these creatures moved on with the time of things? Nonetheless, the city was now free once more and the celebrations truly began.

This year’s festivities are planned to be just as packed as the last, held so long ago within the Tai Ping district. There will be a celebration planned for each month, so worry not if you miss one! Could it be the Nian beast returned for revenge after defeat last Lunar New Century? Or something worse…? Brave the dangers dear adventurer, and mayhap you’ll be the one to save Yong Ping from this travesty.

OOC: This will be held February 1st at 6PM EST!

Snow’s Maiden: Cleansing Ritual

As the turn of the New Century appears round the bend, families and friends alike begin a large-scale purification rite where the burdens and sins of the past are cleansed by fire. If you have any deep confessions, now is the time to rid yourself of them.

OOC: Note paper will be provided for you to write anything from the past year you want to leave before continuing into the year ahead, symbolised by then burning the paper.

Malin’s Welcome: Firework Feast

With the New Century festival now in full swing, join us for the grand opening feast. There will be fireworks, dances, and memories to last a lifetime! Those that helped aid us during the Eve of Battle may even get a reward!

OOC: All food will be purchasable from stalls, vendors, or the Tianrui Teahouse in Yong Ping. All merchants are welcome to come and claim one of the event stalls to set up shop for the event, provided they respect the locals and culture.

The First Seed: Kite Flying Festival

A time-honoured tradition, the day’s festivities will be filled with decoration and making of kites. When complete to the maker’s content, the kites will be flown together over the rolling plains outside of the city!

OOC: Unsigned kite items will be distributed with a preset description that can be added onto or remade entirely. Once everyone has made their kites, they will all be flown into the air at once! 

The Grand Harvest: Lion Dancing Competition

As the guardians of the people of the Jade State, a special competition will be held to honour the Twin Lions. Only the fittest and most agile of climbers, capable of leaping from rooftop to rooftop will be selected to become the avatars of the Lions and honour them with the Lion dance.

OOC: This will be a parkour competition across Yong Ping’s rooftops! The route will be marked with white wool pillars, a separate flag required to qualify for the race in each chest at every few markers.

Sun’s Smile: Dragon Dance Parade

A celebration of the New Century festival is never complete without the classic Dragon Dance. The people of Yong Ping will bear a dragon banner, hoisted by multiple people during the parade across all of Almaris. People from all over are welcome to participate, or even become part of the dragon. The parade will proceed through all settlements before finally looping back to Yong Ping, completing the full circle.

OOC: Players will don Dragon Dance skins, travel in a snake along the roads into your nation/settlement, and then on into the next! Just let one of the procession leaders know if you would like the skin to quickly join, or purchase a dragon head on the head shop for 3 mina.

The Amber Cold: Red Packet Day

As a close to the festivities of the New Century festival, the last month will be a month of giving. Friends and neighbours will trade little Red Packets, filled with good wishes and even a bit of mina! This is a show of the community’s prosperity as well as friendly relations with visitors too - should they choose to participate.

As the Sakura leaves quietly fell along the Tianrui district, preparations were commencing for a celebration in the temple. A welcomed change from the ever-present chaos of the Jade Gambit, the members of the Ishikawa Family & the Chen Family would assemble to celebrate the union of Ishikawa Akihiko and Chen Linli.

As members of the Jade State set aside any present anxiety for the sake of a celebration, the couple hoped the ceremony could provide a moment of levity for the city they loved so dearly. The special day would follow traditional festivities.

Parade

The long-awaited and auspicious wedding will first begin with a parade as is traditional. The bride will be met at the home she was preparing in, where she’d be escorted into a palanquin and taken to the temple amidst great fanfare.

Ceremony

When the palanquin arrives at the temple, the bride will be escorted out and into the temple where a monk will begin the ceremony. Respect is offered to the parents, before a cup of wine is shared and the ceremony concludes.

Catering and Performance

With the conclusion of the wedding, the festivities will continue to the Tianrui teahouse where those will be invited to partake in a variety of food and drinks, alongside various entertainment organized for the prosperous event.

Who Dares Enter The Thicket and Maws of the Beast?

With the recent vanquishments of the Sirens and Bears plaguing the farms and forest, citizens and travellers have reported deep snarls housed towards the northern farms of Yong Ping - ghastly and sharp howls ring out in the middle of the night from what is presumed to be the pack of Direwolves that have made the farms their recent home.

YPA scouts and soldiers have noted that some of the remaining wildlife have gone missing and found towards the northern edge of the Sakura Forest - slaughtered and half eaten at least. There have also been reports of wanderers and other denizens going missing near the north edge, only for their bloodied armour and clothes to be found along the woodland edge.

Citizens and other non-military related personnel have been advised to stay clear of the north farms and subsequent forested area. YPA, and other volunteers are to set out on another scouting and control mission in the coming Dragon's Days to help drive the wolves back into the woods whence they came. Such an extraordinary and lengthy task will take a few Dragon's Days to complete so it is recommended that those warriors and brave hearts be prepared for a lengthy trip and battle.

"No Mud, No Lotus."

A Dragon's week has passed since the monsters corrupted the Jade State of Yong Ping, littering the streets with their filth and spilling blood upon stone. Buildings are damaged, with no signs of sentient life inside them, creatures overtaking once warm hearths and beds.

The people of Yong Ping only have one safe area; that of the Tianrui District. Everywhere else, inside or outside the walls are filled with monsters, such as Danungols, Trolls and Maneaters.

An effort has been made by the local citizens, alongside the Yong Ping Army, to barricade every entrance possible to keep the monsters from breaking into the heart of the city. Now, it is time for the Yong Pingers to retaliate!

 Behold, the Zhu seeks brave men and women to eradicate vile beings that have stolen the beloved nation!

The best approach to stop the monsters from coming inside the city is to cut their numbers from outside the gate. The plan is to attack the monsters located in the Hirano district, that being by the farm homes near the abandoned Musin Village. The city is now calling forth to the brave people, to scout, learn about the monsters’ weaknesses, and ultimately, cut their numbers from the outside. 

Let peace come back into our walls, into our streets, and into our homes. Let Yong Ping become the beautiful city we always loved, citizens and visitors alike. It longs for the heroes to come forward and fight the wickedness Almaris hid until this day!

A Tianrui Matchmaking Ball

House Tianrui is a long-standing and respected family of Yong Ping. One of the Four Founding Families of Yong Ping, founders of the first Chapter of the YPA, owners of the Tianrui Trading Company, and the illustrious Tianrui Teahouse. As the leading family of the Jade State, we wish to offer the membership of this family to those of strong character and warm heart. Show to the most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes of House Tianrui what you are willing to bring to the family at the Tianrui Matchmaking Ball, a start to the Jade Jiandi, a time of matchmaking.

Our current Tianruis eligible for courting and matchmaking are as follows.

Tianrui Ryu

Second Duhu, second Chancellor, and third Zhu - the illustrious Ryuji’s achievements are ever-growing. While ever career-focused, the 100-odd year-old Li-Ren elf has a strong soft spot for family. Firstborn son of Ren and Delphina, he sits to inherit the family name with the title of family Patriarch in Almaris once resigned by his father. 

Tianrui Fumi

Promoted to officer at the age of 16 in trial by fire, one of the few remaining katana smiths in Yong Ping, and one of the finest Oyashiman blacksmiths in the Jade State, Fumi is a woman of actions. The 50 year-old Oyashiman elf has a love of good food and good company, and sharing the former with the latter.

Tianrui Noi

Young and finding her path in life, Noi can most usually be found in the Tianrui Teahouse, having learnt the craft at her father’s hip. The 20 year-old Noi is the youngest of Ren and Delphina’s children, learning of the many travellers and their stories through Yong Ping’s ports by the way of the Teahouse.

Edict Kin

Finding himself the third Duhu of the Jade State, Kin has made a fine example of a balanced life managing his military service career with running his very own flower shop. The 48 year-old elf is a strong but tender soul, willing to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe.

Tianrui Zavar

Renowned fighter across many a nation, and lovingly known as the “Poncho Goblin” - Zavar is directly descended from the first warrior goblin family line. The 88 year-old goblin is well-travelled and world wise, a worthy companion to any.

Watanabe Tsukiya

Twin brother of the soon to be Watanabe Matriarch Akemi, Tsukiya approaches his problems with a tentative hand, making certain to measure twice and cut once. The 18 year-old Oyashiman human has an explorer’s heart, always looking for the next adventure.

The Tianrui family members eligible for courtship and matchmaking will be presented at the beginning of the event, after which general festivities will commence and suitors may present themselves to each of the aforementioned in turn.

Join us in the Yong Ping Tianrui Teahouse for a most auspicious matchmaking ball and feast - The Grand Harvest, Year 58 of the Second Age.

Event Planning and Hosting, Tianrui Ren

As the snowflakes of winter befall upon the Jade State of Yong Ping, our lakes freeze from the cold and our birds cease their chirping and move onward to a warmer environment, within the Jade State of Yong Ping preparations are made left and right, with decorations such as trees and lights illuminating the entirety of the Nation.

To celebrate the coming of this freezing season, our nation announces a grand festival for any and all friends or allies of the Jade State of Yong Ping to attend! 

During the aforementioned festival, the attendees are invited to attend many activities, such as;

Ice Skating within the centre square of the Jade State.

An exchange of gifts from whoever has something to give.

A contest of drinks, both hot and cold.

And the Special appearance of a special guest……

OOC; The Event will take place on the 18th of December at 1:30 PM/EST, in the square of Yong-Ping.

With the appointment of our new Zhu, we of the Senate feel it is time to celebrate this momentous and grand time within the Jade state to celebrate Tianrui Ryu and his placement as Zhu of the Jade State of Yong-Pong! The Celebrations will come in the form of a grand feast, at the Tea House. Where the humble beginnings of our new Zhu began… The Feast will present the citizens of Yong-Ping as well as any visitors to our nation, to interact with the newly assigned Senate and Zhu. As well as a dance performed by our very own Minister of rites (and my granddaughter) Chen Yunya! Drinks and food are to be offered to everyone who desires to attend the festivities!

Year of the Dog 狗年 Festival

The Dog, being a loyal, faithful and brave animal. While being

our best friends for centuries. Due to this, the tea house will

celebrate this animal by hosting a story session. Here

a senior citizen, who stayed faithful and loyal to our ideals, 

will tell the guests about Yong Ping's history and

culture.  During the telling, the tea house staff will offer

tea for a price.

The first ever convention is to be held this Saturday. I am terribly sorry for the delay in events. Getting back into school and having to get settled was tough. But now that it is October. I am finally excited to be able to bring my dream and so many others to life.


The Event will be held in Yong-Ping. For those interested in coming to the event, we ask you bring food, drink, art or any other items that represent your respected culture. This event is about peace and togetherness. So with that being said. This upcoming Saturday, October 9th, at  3PM EST - 4PM EST will be the first ever Woman's Convention of Almaris! Held in the Chen Casino on the pier of Yong-Ping.

Moon Festival 中秋节

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is one of the most celebrated eastern festivals amongst the citizens of Yong Ping. Little is known of how the celebration started, but, legend has it that several thousand centuries ago, the world was once tormented by seven demonic suns, plaguing the realm with ghastly eternal heat, and to face these terrible foe was one man alone, a skilled hunter. Rewarded by the kami for his heroic feat for shooting down the seven suns, he was given an elixir of eternal life; however, the elixir was only fit for one life and the hunter was already blessed,  happy with his life on earth with his beautiful and loving wife. The two were troubled by the thought of ever being apart, and so, they had decided to instead keep the bottle of immortality safe from the greed and evil of man. One fateful night when the hunter was out, one of the hunter’s students had broken into the home intending to steal the potion. Caught in a crossfire between handing over the potion, the hunter’s wife drank the elixir and became the moon goddess, whisked away to the moon leaving the poor hunter alone. The hunter, every night, would search desperately for his wife’s figure on the seemingly lifeless orb, but each time they met for three days in mid-autumn, he would prepare for her mooncakes, taro, and a large assortment of delicacies that she once enjoyed and food that she could take there on the moon. 

This coming celebration, the citizens of Almaris are cordially invited to celebrate with the families of Yong Ping the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. It is encouraged that families bring along their children for the activities, as well as the many different foods that will be on display.

Mooncake Making Contest

Ever wanted to learn how to make a tasty eastern pastry? How about ruining it and getting paid for it? Well now you can! Contestants participating in this activity will be given a brief summary of how a mooncake is made before being put to the test to make their own styles of mooncake. A number of three to four judges will pick the best mooncake out of the lot and give the grand prize of 30 yen AND an additional special item to the Mooncake Making Contest. 

Crab Cooking Contest

Get ready to flaunt your culinary expertise with the fresh local catch known as hairy crab, caught during the cooler periods of the dragon year due to its abundance in meat and flavor. The three winners of this contest will be rewarded with a limited edition culinary Li-Ren knife with the prize winner receiving 30 mina.

Mid-Autumn Festival Firework Show

OOC: Saturday 6:00 PM EST

The Lion Dance

Coming together to celebrate in unity, the acrobats in Yong Ping will perform a dragon dance for the citizens of Almaris to enjoy; only able to be seen inside the walls of the Jade State. 

Lantern Floating Ceremony

After sunset, a small and short ceremony will be done in honor of Chang’e, the moon goddess. Citizens can participate and even make their own lantern for this special event.

Dragon Boat Racing

Racing across the waters of Yong Ping, participants get the chance to compete in a battle against time, skill, and endurance. At the very end of the Mid-Autumn festival, large constructs will be set on the water which players must avoid while getting to the end; blindfolded. The prize will be disclosed day-of the race.

A Tuo Show

What will be the first of many events planned within the casino, a Tuo Show is announced: An explanation for those not quite versed with the culture, it is a time when people will come in wearing garb generally meant for another gender. People are invited to come dressed as they wished and partake in provided catering alongside gamble to their hearts content with our three machines:

Our slot machine, prizes guaranteed.

Our spinning wheel, not as guaranteed but of a greater quality.

Our roulette wheel, not guaranteed but in greater quality and quantity when won.

Best dressed will win an undisclosed prize and all who wish to attend are welcome.

Nothing good ever comes of violence, lest said violence consists of ramming your opponent with a wheelchair and lance while casting most foul insults 'pon their maternal parent. Such vigor can only be found in the ancient sport of Wheelchair Jousting. Though us, Sarissans, claim it as a national sport in which even the most poorest of men may part take in it is safe to say that our ancestors have long since used wheelchairs as instruments of alcohol-fueled squabbling!

I hereby invite you to the first Sarissan Wheelchair Joust It shall take place within the bounds of our encampment at (x -340 z 800) on the date of (Thursday, 6PM EST). All participants are required to don protection in the form of a helmet as well as a cuirass or a thick gambeson to protect their vitals. Lances and wheelchairs shall be provided on the day of the joust.

A team of two is required to enter the joust. Pushers and Riders shall switch between rounds. An optional replacement may be brought in case of injury. All teams must be registered before the tournament by either signing up in person or sending a bird to Ser William Buckfort beforehand. Straws are to be drawn between each round- the shortest straw shall fight against the longest.

The rules are as follows;

1. The rider and pusher must first fill their bellies with bread and sweet honey as well as a shot of vodka before each round.
2. The rider must take position atop his wheelchair, armed in a government-issue lance. The pusher must grasp both handles of the wheelchair.
3. Both riders, on the blow of the horn, are to slap the side of the wheelchair, at which point the pushers must neigh and charge with speed.
4. For it is a gentleman's game, the riders are asked to spew insults towards the other's pox-blighted silly wench of a mother.
5. Lances are to be lowered by both riders, aimed either for the enemy pusher or rider. He who knocks down the pusher or dechairs the rider is considered the winner of the round.
6. Double points are granted if both the opponent and his rider are knocked into the ditch.
7. Any form of fighting outside of rounds will lead to elimination.
8. The rider and pusher are to switch every round.
9. If either team member is too impaired to take part in the next round, both are eliminated lest they hastily find a replacement.
10. A helmet and a protective cuirass or gambeson must be worn.



The reward consists of a monetary reward of 100 mina, an 8-bottle crate of Sarissan vodka, the title of "Champion of the Crips" and a personalized longsword.
All participants who stay until the end will be issued a participation medal.

Dragon's Rebirth Celebration

(“Along the River During the Qingming Festival”)

It is my pleasure to extend an invitation to the friends of Yong Ping, who were steadfast through our most trying times. All are welcome to join in celebration of our newly constructed Yong Ping and the auspicious friends that helped us to achieve it. Festivities shall take place in the Tianrui Teahouse at Tianrui 28 in two Dragon’s Days of this missive’s posting.

Reception

Reception shall take place to allow all to arrive and become settled in a timely manner, introduce themselves to new friends, and enjoy complimentary refreshments before the performance begins.

Performance

A lineup of local cultural performances shall grace the teahouse stage, featuring a dance of magical proportions to premier a range of traditional dance and music of the zither.

Feast

Once the performance has concluded, guests are invited to enjoy the rest of the evening in the teahouse in good company and good spirit.

OOC: The hunt will take place tonight at 6PM EST in the Sarissan camp, located directly North of Yong Ping's ruins, perched up against the wall. Make sure you bring a functional PVP weapon, as the goal of this event is to chase down the "Stag" and down it. All participants will be given their share of meat and a piece of the pelt, and whoever manages to strike the killing blow will be awarded the head.
