“Metagaming is using out of character knowledge in roleplay. The character did not acquire the information in game, yet uses it as prior knowledge. For example, I may be informed of an approaching raid over Discord and track down the people orchestrating the raid before word even reaches my town.”
“Powergaming essentially eliminates an opposing character's free will and the player's opportunity to take action. For example, my character cannot slice at a target's face and automatically state I cut them. The opponent has the choice of sustaining the injury or dodging my move.”
