  1. The cursed woman woke in a sweat, the Ilzakarn churning through her head even as she made for a glass of water. A tongue rolling over her own bat touched teeth, an eye running over the markings on her hand. "That time of the season again..." She soon returned to her bed, making sure to sleep soundly once more.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Translocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Translocation is the arcane art of teleportation and storage using the Void, these two subsections are respectively known as Shifting and Expatriation. By using Expatriation, the user may deconstruct objects into the void and later reconstruct them into the material realm at a moment’s notice, and through the use of Shifting, the user may teleport themselves, others, and objects to another location within the material. All of these are done via the use of a mana anchor that acts as a tether across the veil and are the means that allow for items to be brought back, and for mages to reappear after pushing themselves through the void - at the location of the anchor.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Expatriation is the act of deconstructing and reconstructing items in and out of the void, as stated above, this is done by developing an intense understanding of the object, and then placing an anchor onto it. Without first obtaining that understanding, items will simply be lost - unable to be recovered.

Shifting is done by simply creating a mana anchor at the location the mage wishes to shift to, then stepping through the void, in this case, the anchor acts as a tether for the mage - so that they may return to the material realm wherever that anchor was left.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

[!] A misting of purple did come to the woman's eyes, a connection to the void. A soft expulsion of breath from her nose, as she focused on that attunement, a soft flutter of breeze through her hair.

[!] The woman took a step forth, only she didn’t. No she was gone, reappearing five meters beyond from her initial step, a trailing of that same purple behind her.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“Allrighty kiddo, today you’re going to learn a /minor teleportation/.” The woman chirped, sitting herself down with a grin, ready anticipation for her lesson to give for the day. “Its a simple concept, you connect, /place an anchor/, and step through the void.” She brought up a finger for each step as she recited it.

[!] A nod to the student’s request, and as though she had already prepared her eyes came aglow a misted silver, wafting about the woman’s form in wisps.

[!] And to the /next/, an anchor was placed but a few meters away, a finger pointed to its direction with a little extra flair, to make sure it was taken note of by her pupil. A curling area of glowing mists, much like those that drifted about the blonde.

[!] Finally, the woman /popped/ from existence, only to reappear a moment later, a cheeky grin on her slightly dazed face, wobbling her arms about in the air to regrasp her balance. “Alright now, kiddo, it’s ya go. Keep it a short distance, and /try/ not to pass out.” A flurry of giggles thereafter, crossing her arms as she watched expectantly.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If during my teaching, I’d correct the action with appropriate sternness, but outside of my teaching i don’t think there’s much I could do other than pass it onto a moderator if not corrected after my own words with them.

The terms and imagery used was merely for reference and aesthetic in regards to the Yulthar lore. Names, images, etcetra do not reflect upon how characters have to play their A Hanyo. In roleplay even they will likely be called demons and other terms will likely be used. As per encroaching on Mysticism there are a few aspects that can be the same however multiple magics and creatures have things in common.  Players use translators all the time when they base lore off of IRL inspiration such as germanic, irish, dutch, japanese etcetera.. This is merely for a roleplay aesthetic and does not correlate to the IRL world or IRL languages as this is purely for roleplay. I don't think this really sits on the "edge" of appropriation either as like I said it was merely aesthetic for a magical creature in a magical world and was never used maliciously.

This lore piece was merely inspired by demons and spirits all around the world and it's folklore, the japanese aesthetic was chosen because of it's origins in Yulthar. As this is a fantasy server, many things were alternated and changed because again, this doesn't correlate to IRL as deeply as you may be viewing it to.

I can't comment on use of arabic on the server, as its not a language I speak and I can't speak of the very broad culture it encompasses, but I still think using irl languages on lotc is simply distastefull in most circumstances, especially japanese as it is the language most commonly used wrong. I studied it for 8 years and still am nowhere near fluent. If you look at any other european based cultures on the server, german and russian in haense and other broadly slavic places about norland, they don't actually use the real language they use conlangs. In fact one of the only cultures on the servers that actually use the language would be Oyashiman and the small french playerbase. Even the polish community that play a polish based culture use a conlang. I'd be happy to help with the translation, but I think including honorable suicide along with anime trope abilities in a piece is just kind of distasteful.

I think the magic could be really really dope if it just pulls away from the japanese aesthetic, but it doesn't need to come from a malicious place for it to be on the edge. Usually im all for basing off of cultures, but idk if this is the way to go about it.

    Yokai Baindingu

This is and incorrect translation. Please don't use google translate to try and put yokai binding into Japanese, since here it's come with the Katakana (English loan word) for binding. In Japanese a lot of words are just English adjusted to fit with the Japanese alphabet, so this is literally just the English word with an adjusted accent.

I will forever advocate that Japanese shouldn't be used on lotc bc it will always be used incorrectly. As neither should other already existing languages unless used by someone who actually knows the language. Using irl culture always sits on an edge of appropriation unless you have a proper and meaningful understanding of it, as was tastefully shown with the initial Li-ren who even though made by a majorly south east asian player base made up an altered and simplified language.

Similarly, the name of this CA is also a funny non-sensical translation. You've taken the literal word for numerical half and slapped it in front of half of the word yokai, which quite literally are ghosts and spirits, which I think speaks enough on how this lore seems to encroach on the mechanics of Mystic. (Though if you'd named it just Yo I would have had a little laugh.)

I think this lore has good intentions, and a cool theme, but I don't think its quite ready for the server. Perhaps maybe an expansion on the Oyashiman culture and a leaning away from using complex irl languages on a mineman server, and perhaps instead lean towards using a conlang and less anime magic tropes.

  7. The little woman had stirred to wake with something near a yelp, though she bit down quickly on it to not wake the child so soundly asleep besides her. Her heart raced, and she could only wonder what she had seen. knowing what she did. She wiped at the tears beneath her tired eyes, before laying down once more to try and find her rest.

She knew she would need it.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Naztherak

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

The dark entwines of Naztherak is a grand scheme of pacts and deals of the soul, set to ensnare unknowing mortals into the grasp of those five princes of the pentacle. Their lending of power, set to corrupt those that dare to shake the devil’s hand, taking their soul piece by piece before eventually the mortal Princling is more demon than descendant, some perhaps eventually finding ascension into that of the zar’akal.

A sweet song that calls to both scholar and power-hungry alike, bringing them into a life of corruption perhaps far beyond their knowledge.

The path towards corruption is a long one, beginning with the first scrawling of their mark upon their hand and the creation of their grimoire, the hopeful princling taking their fist pact (And with it their first two slots) to gain the ability to summon malflame and conjure infernal demons. Beginning at merely flickers of flame, and perhaps no more than an imp, the power of the Naztherak slowly accumulates as their lessons continue, and no doubt they begin to lust for more. The biggest constraint being that of their Maleus count, even if the prince reaches the height of practice of both crafts, they will be very much tempted and perhaps encouraged to take upon themselves more pacts to deepen their pool of power.

The Grimoire is the Naztherak’s most essential tool, as well as their very first, that without completely inhibits the ability to cast flame or summon. A cursed tome within which they will dictate their spells and bind their infernal beings as they go forth through their time as a princling, One may only write within using Ilzakarn and rakir.

Malflame, the staple tool of combat, is one of the first abilities available to the Naztherak, abilities ranging from a small wick of flame in the palm, encasing ones’ arm in the flame, throwing out discs of flame all the way to creating a cruel whip. Its colour must be notably unnatural, a rang of ‘toxic’ or neon colours, unable create heat nor notable light, though burning away at the flesh and soul in the cruelest and most painful ways imaginable.

Demonlore allows the princeling to create, subjugate, bind and conjure demons to their will, being the sub-sections of imps, beasts and Zar’ei. Beasts are the only one of those not a CA, imps being both summonable and a CA, and Zar’ei being only a CA. This being the second most predominant combat ability of the Naztherak, as well as their greatest ability to expand their ‘courts’ and thus furthering the spread of pacts and deals.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    Cursed fire and cursed idols:

.A Naztherak may be taught to imbue their Malice at will into Malflame conjurations to force their victim to endure additional turmoil, and may also be taught to take objects or ‘idols’ and curse them with profane properties. These are made with the the malices specifically taken upon the person from their initial choice, and that of their chosen patron. All at the cost of another magic slot.

    Boons and banes:

A Naztherak who has grown further invested in their demonic powers, may seek to open a means of communication with their patron. To achieve this the Prince must create a second pact. This gives them an infernal familiar, a striith, and the knowledge of boons and banes.

Boons and banes are additional powers a Naztherak may employ in order to begin entangling mortals within their own complex web of pacts.A Prince may negotiate a contract with a mortal, promising the power of a boon and assign their own price as they see fit, inscribing both a boon and at least one bane within a marking upon their skin to seal the deal. Once more, at the cost of another magic slot.

    Ascension

Ascension, finally, comes at the end of it all, beyond even the boons and banes, and the study of cursed fire and idols, where the Naztherak makes their final pact and ‘ascends’ to the state of ‘Zar’akal’. A twisted king, come to take a permanently disfigured and demonic form, though at the great advantage of losing all vulnerability to malflame, and reaching functional immortality.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

[!] The little woman unfurled that cursed tome from her side, flipping Idly through its pages, in search of some particular spot. A spell upon a curtain page. Her eyes found their target, a small smile curving to her lips. “Kriviir.” She spoke in that cruel anxiety-inducing tongue of the infernal. The word an ignition as she came alight, the marks upon her body filling with a glow of sickly neon green. Her skin paled and took to the colour of that light, and from her head ripped mighty horns to crown over now infernally slitted eyes.

[!] A now increasingly taloned hand was held out before her, as though to present to one a gift, as a lick of flame that same sickly hue came to life, churning out for air it could not quite consume. Its only fuel that of the soul. The witch cackled with delight.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Wyetta came forth, before her student, flipping open her grimoire pointedly. She seemed to nod slightly, as though to direct a need to follow after her. “Your spell, today, will be Rok-Dhurz,” The infernal word dripped from her maw, so very naturally. Her mark did light, even mid sentence. “To create a sphere to throw upon your enemies.”

[!] As she spoke, a licking of flame did indeed come aglow in her hand, talons crowing as it did. A lick of flame soon rounded, swirling and swelling larger and larger to become that of the size of perhaps a golf ball. “There are three sizes in which it may me made, this being the smallest.” Blood dripped from her forehead, then, from where her horns had sprouted, and yet the princeling paid it no mind.

[!] It continued to swell, however, as the woman had promised, to the size of perhaps a baseball now, the neon flames licking and pulling at the air. The woman did not speak, now, thinking it obvious with the balls growth that this was the second stage, giving time for the student to diligently notate their observations of such a feat.

[!] Finally, a last swell came to the ball, the woman coming to bring it above those cursed horns of hers, only comparable to a beachball in size. Her flaming eyes were bright with adrenaline. “This is the final size, and the most impactful, for if you really want to make a scene.” It churned and burned such a powerful green, until as though it was nothing it merely ceased to be, the womans hands coming to a clap. She brought them down thereafter before her face. “I hope you wrote that down.” She hummed, a clear lead through example for her apprentice.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If during a lesson, I would sternly correct the behaviour as powergaming and show them how to properly rp as such, and if it continues as a behaviour drop them from my TA. If it was after I had taught them, however, I would most likely move the matter on to a mod… bc there’s nothing I can really do there?

She cozied up in her large floral arm chair, and waited patiently for those in need of future counselling, working idly at some crochet not particularly good if but to give her withered hands something to work at.

  11. The Arch Vigilant turned her gaze over a letter with a light hum, as though not surprised to see that the wheels of fate were finally churning. "Perhaps it is time to consider that to achieve peace, it is progress that brings us to a greater age." Her lips upturned, before Morael left the letter opened upon her desk, going off to pray before the peace shrine of the Fennic Remnants.

A willowy figure sat in the warm and cozied writing nook of her family Mannor, naught but the scratching of her quill and the absent words of song filling the lonesome space around her, a flickering candle illuminating the dark oak and warm reds of the room.

A letter, carried by birds and horse, perhaps even bottle, would be soon be spread over the continent to any who cared to fall upon it. A thick parchment, scented of lavender,  carried the following words in an elegant sprawl.

"It is with a heavy heart I speak, and an even heavier hand I write, to announce that the funeral for the honorable Thalion Drakon is to be held this elven day.

In the crypts of our city, before Wyvrun’s witness, I call on any and all who may wish to come and say their regards for the fallen soldier, father, husband, and once leader of the mighty Drakon bloodline. As he comes to grace the lands of fen’ciwn, Wyvrun’s domain, with his soul to be cradled in his safe embrace, still we grieve for the man lost of this realm.

    Most sincerly-

Morael, standing Archon of house Drakon and Priestess of Wyvrun"

    ((ooc))

Funeral in Fenn, Today 7pm est in the square and then crypts!

  14. The bejewled woman, her silouhette almost limping, had carried the body into the square with her own hands. A willowy thing of six foot, such a feet was not impossible. Though brief words were swapped between priestess and prince, the moments had spead most thin as she pleaced the body before the peace altar for all to see. As all Ivae'fenn were, his death was to be publicly honoured.

"Thalion, you have always been a Drakon of honour..." Eyes drooped with grief, and fingertips blushed with cold brought the elven man's own to a close. "Rest now, find fen'ciwn and be held in Wyvrun's embrace."

The priestess then went to wash out and hide the mans wounds, for as he was in fen'ciwn now where his wounds were gone, those who came would see him as such. There is no pain in Wyvrun's realm...
