YONG PING GUILDHOUSE AUCTION
[!] A lengthy catalogue of rice paper bound in a hard-cover bamboo book would be distributed around the entirety of Almaris with detailed blueprints and sketches of various properties.
WITH the blueprints of the new city finalised, the Jade State of Yong Ping has been diligently gathering materials required to materialise the dreams of its many hopeful citizens.
[Sketch of the Guildhouse Docks]
Yong Ping’s close relations with various trading parties, merchants, and dignitaries stand as a hallmark of Yong Ping’s pride. To better provide for the hardworking merchants of Almaris, we have opened up three Guild House spaces for Guilds interested in having a home base of operations secured close to their tradeships, next to a bustling and prosperous market.
Bids for each property will be outlined underneath each property name as well as the details of property purchase. Interested parties kindly reply to this missive with your proposed amount for bid, we will publicise all bids so that all have an equal chance at contest.

[Sketch of Public Warehouse facility]
SpoilerOOC: These screenies are taken from the schem for the new build, which is ready to be pasted soon. These Guild house spaces are situated right by the bustling ports, overlooking Yishu island [The Spirited Away-inspired Casino] and a central travel hub. Below these spaces are public rp builds such as the Dry Docks and the Warehouse, perfect for those who have a penchant for crime rp or gang rp. (There’s even a gang boss chair set up in the warehouse). Not only are all these Guildhouses conveniently located, they face the sea, ensuring a breathtaking view for your business dealings. We want to prioritise giving this space to Guilds to help encourage more depth to merchant rp, or crime rp who wish to have a ‘merchant’ front.

Xiuying would pour over this thorough and meticulous report in the midst of her official documents. A single brow would arch up and if one inspected closely, they would see her lips quirk upwards in a miniscule smile.
"This is... above average in all aspects." she murmurs, pocketing the edition in her hanfu sleeves as a keepsake before getting back to work with a sigh.

___________________________________________________________________________________
The seeds of Yong Ping were planted by refugees seeking a home to call their own, from the very inception of our city beginning with the district of Tai Ping we have laboured endlessly to preserve our people, our cultures, and our pride.
This preservation has always been under the threat of vanity, not our own but from those who see us as little more than exotic commodities rather than people; those who have boastfully and openly declared intent to vassalize us, insulted us by claiming our women act as servants unto men at their establishments and mirror the heartless audacity of the Tai Ping massacre with their assault of the Norlandic peoples.
I am writing about the Oreni of course.
We the people of Yong Ping understand the plight of the refugee, the struggle of acceptance, and the pain of loss. It is not with violence in mind that we denounce the actions of Oren but with compassion. We understand that there are many who would not wish to sit idly by and take part even passively in fueling this vanity-driven bloodshed and so we open our arms and hearts to the wayward souls who hold no love for war and seek a better alternative.
We the people of Yong Ping greet you as equals, and invite you to join us as we expand and seek peaceful living.
Henceforth Yong Ping shall open its homes and businesses to refugees in search of a better life.

Somewhere out on the plains of a distant destination far from Haense, Nadya Ivankov puffs on another cigar as her fishing line dangles in the gugrling stream. The line suddenly snaps, the catch quickly escaping much to her disgruntlement.
”Bad omens.” She mutters, trail of smoke exhaled from her lips, her severe features deepening in a sorrowful frown.
She raises her flask of Carrion, saluting her once brother in arms.
”Perrhaps soon I’ll join you, Jackson.”

CELEBRATION OF NATIONHOOD
(Kunisato Utagawa. Kokugikan. 1853. Triptych Color Woodblock Print. Far Eastern Museum, Stockholm.)
Our History
For the past eight years the people of Yong Ping have sacrificed blood and sweat to bring us here today. Our people began as a humble caravan of migrants, fleeing a dark and colored past. But the pain of many years before is long since gone. The Cathant is but a faint memory in the back of the oldest elves' minds, and the separation of Li-Ren and Oyashiman are equally distant.
For the past eight years the people of Yong Ping have worked immeasurably, giving their all so that their people may be safe and experience the new comforts that their home now brings to them. With a robust culture that reflects its diverse people, the arts of Yong Ping are shown in museums across the lands. Our merchants travel far and wide, and our goods find themselves in the homes of the northernmost towns of Alamaris.
(Hiroshige Utagawa. Mariko, 20th Station. 1832. Color Woodblock Print.)
The People of Yong Ping
The backbone of the people of Yong Ping are the farmers and tradesmen, or the San Xiong Di. They feed the people and make wares that serve the people of Yong Ping. From the great walls that shield the city to the weapons in the army, finally in the food sold at innumerable stalls across the city, the humble laborers are celebrated and valued for their work.
Next, the merchants are a lively folk. Providing trinkets and materials for common folk to buy, merchants help bring the world to Yong Ping. Whether it be the finest jewelry or Nordlandic decorations, merchants have found a way to provide.
Serving the people is an equally noble task as any, and that is no different in Yong Ping. The government has expanded rapidly, with volunteers and officials filling the ranks of every hall of the Great House. Facilitating every aspect of life, these often unseen workers oil the gears of the machine of bureaucracy to keep Yong Ping alive.
A Declaration of Sovereignty
Today, we the people of Yong Ping, are proud to declare ourselves an equal of any people or polity on Alamaris. Our claims are settled, and our lands defended. We see a bright future for our people, and as such, must elevate ourselves on the world stage.
Today we see it fit to declare ourselves The Jade State of Yong Ping. We claim the city of Yong Ping and her fertile fields. We claim the coasts to our sides and the fields north and east. With this declaration, we wish to secure our place in the world, and in history.

Nation Settlement PRO MC Name: Kemobrown
Nation Name: Jade State of Yong Ping
What is the history of your settlement since its founding and what has transpired for it to ascend to the status of a fully-fledged, multi-playergroup nation?(1000 words minimum):
Yong-Ping City is the epicentre of Eastern-inspired culture and arts. It’s home to the Li-Ren, Oyashimans and many other travellers who have found home with its unique culture, natural landscapes and laid-back lifestyle. Yong-Ping found its humble origins in Arcas, where it started off as just a small embassy, eventually growing to encompass Tai Ping District in Talons Port. With the small district no longer able to contain the ever-growing population of Li-Ren and Oyashimans, the City State of Yong Ping was founded on the South-Western shores.
Since then, Yong Ping has remained a beacon of unique culture and a hub of the arts, with its player base flourishing under the expansion into settlement, so much so that it's grown to the point where we can confidently head into nationhood.
Due to an influx of inhabitants, we have found ourselves sorely lacking for space to house them. Thus, in order to continue to provide a home that will put its people first, celebrate the culture, and continue to offer a one-of-the-kind experience found nowhere else on Almaris, we have decided to apply for nation status.

How has your settlement expanded into a core LotC staple, warranting nation rights?
Only eastern inspired settlement that has lasted for multiple IRL months and has managed to reach and maintain Nation Level activity throughout this entire period. It has offered a unique culture and RP niche that is not found within other nations. Within the past few months there has been an increasing growth in player activity and retention and unfortunately due to the current size limits of Yong Ping we’ve had to turn away players who are wanting to move to Yong Ping and further engage in the roleplay here because we don’t have enough houses or space to provide for all the players that are flocking to the city.We also provide and cater to multiple events both ST run and player run within the city that keeps roleplay constantly evolving and interesting for the players who live and RP here. We recently held a festival within Yong Ping that had a constant attendance of 45 people for the multi hour duration of the event.
What are your plans once getting Nation Status and the remainder of your tile?
The Jade State of Yong Ping will seek to expand into the surrounding area, increasing the size of its domain while adding more areas and builds to facilitate more unique, farfolk-inspired subcultures to thrive. The State will maintain its emphasis on Eastern-inspired cultures and retain the unique niche we have so far managed to establish and maintain. This will allow others with similar aspirations to work with Nation and make interesting RP thrive.
What niche does your nation capture that does not exist among the current ones?:
Our settlement captures that Eastern Inspired subculture and encourages a unique sense of Eastern inspired cultural roleplay and new player integration not found in other nations on the server. Yong Ping provides a safe haven for Farfolk inspired roleplay and will allow for expansions of Farfolk culture and roleplay in the future as the player base expands from what it is now.
Do you feel confident that your settlement has grown to the point that it can survive the departure of its existing leadership? Is your player-group able to incorporate new players into the existing roleplay community that founded your settlement?:
As I myself have only just joined a couple of months ago, and already have worked my way to the highest achievable office within Yong Ping. I would define Yong Ping as an ideal and friendly environment for new players and old players alike to not only learn and live out the specific culture of Yong Ping, but also to engage in a different facet of roleplay from the norm that is usually found on LotC. As a new and upcoming nation as well as playerbase we have less attachment compared to the longer standing nations and settlements and as a result provide a path for new players to trailblaze themselves and can be seen in our efforts to incorporate them into our community from the get go as seen with our Citizenship Application process which forces players to engage in RP with the settlement and its culture.
This process allows new players to evolve their characters and story within the cultural environment and playerbase of Yong Ping and as a result allows Yong Ping itself and the players already living there to evolve and progress their stories.Spoilerooc: MANY THANKS TO WHITEWOLF FOR HELPING ME WRITE THIS OUT <3 <3 <3 :D

送别, Farewell Song
長亭外,古道邊,芳草碧連天,
Outside the long pavilion, along the ancient route, fragrant green grass joins the sky,
晚風拂柳笛聲殘,夕陽山外山。
The evening wind caressing willow trees, the sound of the flute piercing the heart, sunset over mountains beyond mountains.
天之涯,地之角,知交半零落,
At the brink of the sky, at the corners of the earth, my familiar friends wander in loneliness and far from home,
一瓢濁酒盡餘歡,今宵别夢寒。
One more ladle of wine to conclude the little happiness that remains; don't have any sad dreams tonight.長亭外,古道邊,芳草碧連天,
Outside the long pavilion, along the ancient route, fragrant green grass joins the sky,
問君此去幾時来?来時莫徘徊。
I ask of you, as you go this time, when are you to return? When it's time to come please don't hesitate.
天之涯,地之角,知交半零落,
At the brink of the sky, at the corners of the earth, familiar friends wander in loneliness and far from home,
人生難得是歡聚,唯有别離多。
In life it is happy reunions that are rare; most often we bid farewell.天之涯,地之角,知交半零落,

人生難得是歡聚,唯有别離多。
In life it is happy reunions that are rare; most often we bid farewell.
Li Xiuying sat in her office after a long day of sorting through paperwork, exhaustion colouring her face. One particular parchment remained untouched - rather, it was a refusal to touch it.Yet her hollow gaze couldn't separate itself from the words on the paper, disbelief still ringing in her ears. A dear friend of hers, gone...
She knew briefly of the hardships this young woman bore. She recalled the bright, indomitable smile of the raven-haired sprite as she sparred with the Li-ren back in Tai Ping district. How she watched that light dim bit by bit as the years passed, despite the beauty of the person increasing.
The image of Koenas Mariya proudly touting her little Petra when she last visited, the quiet peace of them sharing tea now turned to the deafening silence and cold reality of the empty office.
Xiuying's knuckles turn white as her grip on her calligraphy brush tightens unconsciously as two singular drops stain the page, blurring the ink. For the first time in many years, the Matriarch's composure broke.
After a while, she furiously wipes at her eyes with her tear-soaked hanfu sleeves and stands, heading to the cabinet in her office. Opening it, she takes out the variety of spirits her dear friend had gifted her, yet untouched because she had pictured that they would be sharing it together...
She pours herself a glass and shakily raises it to the skies, before pouring it on the earth. She pours herself another and toasts to the sky muttering:
"One more cup of wine to conclude the little happiness that remains..."
As she begins to 'share' the alcohol between the two of them, as promised.6 -

Settlement Lore (could include previous roleplay posts showing involvement with the community) (1000 words minimum):
Yong-Ping City is the epicentre of Eastern-inspired culture and arts. It’s home to the Li-Ren, Hou-zi, Oyashimans and many other travellers who have found home with its unique culture, natural landscapes and laid-back lifestyle. Yong-Ping found its humble origins in Arcas, where it started off as just a small embassy, eventually growing to encompass Tai Ping District in Talons Port.
However, whilst many enjoy the special experience that our community offers, others preferred conflict targeted specifically at the Eastern cultures. Due to an influx of inhabitants and discontent with the inaction regarding the protection of our people, the inhabitants of Tai Ping have decided to expand and establish a new home under the name of Yong Ping. A home that will put its people first, celebrate the culture, and continue to offer a one-of-the-kind experience found nowhere else on Almaris.

Settlement Government Structure Explanation:
Yong-Ping government is centered around the Five Ministries, each headed by a Minister that make up the central governing body, and many Officers under said Ministries to assist in the smooth running of Yong-Ping City.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Charged with political and diplomatic tasks, fostering good relations with other peoples and working together with other Ministries to better trade for Yong-Ping.
Ministry of Defence: The main protectors and keepers of order in Yong-Ping. They are charged with arresting criminals, defending the city’s citizens, as well as escorting any important personages.
Ministry of Rites: The most popular ministry, presiding over all cultural events and affairs. This will be from organising plays, education lectures, cultural rites, and the like.
Ministry of Justice: The main legislative body of the city, charged with ensuring a balance between punishment and reward for the deeds of the city’s citizens. This ministry works in tandem with the Ministry of Defence to carry out its edicts.
Ministry of the Interior: In charge of taxes, state economic welfare and the like. Stewards replace the Officers in the specific case of this Ministry.
Settlement Builds and Infrastructure (photos required):
How does this settlement offer a unique niche not already found in an existing polity on the server?
Our roleplay is highly culture-centric and inspired by Asia. So far, the server is host to many Euro-centric roleplay hubs bar the Fakhr Oasis. Our culture as well as the characters offer a fresh contrast against the norm, with a heavy emphasis on arts, festivities, and the like that cannot be found anywhere else on the server. It is specifically because of our unique roleplay that our activity has been steady and has attracted many players. It is also due to the heavy Asian influence on our roleplay that lore-wise, it would be hard to feasibly fit us under any other nation. Furthermore, in order to continue providing LOTC with a unique experience such as ours, it would be more effective to allow such a community to exist under their full autonomy.
How does your settlement tie to the greater lore and narrative set by the community on LotC?:
Lore-wise, we are a farfolk culture that is heavily inspired by the Hou-zi. As time passed, our culture was spread, as well as our emphasis on trade and the arts. This has brought many races to live amongst the Li-Ren, such as elves, humans, and the occasional Hou-zi. Though the Hou-zi were shelved, the interest in that specific niche has not declined. In fact, our steady incline in activity has proven the opposite.
Have you ever run a settlement on LoTC before and what experience do you have with leadership within roleplay communities among the current groups of players?
No, but I am confident that the current community have found my leadership so far satisfactory. We have managed to grow Tai Ping from a group of less than 10 active players to where it is now, with over 100 members in our discord.
Do you understand the metrics for maintaining activity and the grounds for settlement removal, along with the standing polity cap?
Yes, we must maintain 1% global activity each week and pay 50 mina tax. An additional 50 mina is required if we have any tile improvements purchased. If we fail to meet these requirements, we have a 3 week ‘at risk period’ where our tile will slowly ‘collapse’. If nothing is done after one more week, the settlement will be evicted.

Brave the dangers dear adventurer, and mayhap you’ll be the one to save Tai Ping from this travesty.

People from all over are welcome to participate, or even become part of the dragon. The parade will proceed through all settlements before finally looping back to Tai Ping, completing the full circle.

OOC: These will be sold at the Tai Ping government house for 1 mina per red packet16

FALLING BLOSSOMS
[!] A depiction of the transition from Spring to Autumn, by Yong Ping’s cherry blossom forest.
Xiuying sighed deeply as her wrists, now much thinner than before, carefully wove the Li-ren characters across the rice paper scroll. Her gnarled fingers lifted the dragon seal - symbol of Yong Ping’s state, dipped it in red ink paste, and pressed it at the bottom left of the page.
Another official document done. She stares at the pile of papers to her right - yet to be completed and towering head-height. Taking a small break, she pinches the bridge of her nose and massages her temples with her knuckles, hoping to stimulate some sort of blood flow and perhaps ease the wrinkles. With her papery eyelids closed, the chilling silence of her study only seemed painfully pertinent.
Memories bubble to the surface of her younger days, dwarfed by the towering columns of the Imperial Palace back in Li-Guo. She will never forget the first time she saw her Uncle - no, that Beast.
His beard stained with wine and a concubine to each side as she shook, kneeling at the mercy of those venomous tongues of the Inner Court.
‘Was this what a Leader was?’
“Mèngdé Gong Zhu (courtesy name) seems quite lacking in etiquettes despite the Noble Status in her veins, daring to peer at Zhen without his permission.” The Noble Concubine coquettishly tittered into the Emperor’s ear. Xiuying had grit her teeth and ducked her head down, eyes darting left and right at the soldiers flanking His Majesty’s side. Her eyes couldn’t help flicker past the bulging bellies of the Left and Right Ministers, who gorged on the hard-earned taxes of the people.
Pigs. She thought before fixing her eyes in front of her on her father’s back. Her fingers curled, bunching up the skirt of her Ruqun hanfu as she waited for the Emperor to impart some meaningless pleasantries congratulating on the new addition to her family - not that he would have meant it. Well, that depended on the gender of the baby.
Soon as they were dismissed, she sprinted back towards their palaquin, tugging on her father’s sleeves insistently to return back home. Home, where her mother lay on the brink between life and death to deliver what would be her first sibling.
Upon bursting into her mother’s room, she was greeted by the Midwife’s beaming face as she brandished the newborn to her father. “Congratulations my Lord!” she exclaimed.
The little girl didn’t wait for her father’s permission before snatching up the baby and eagerly swinging it back and forth wildly in excitement. Her very first sibling!
“Why is his face so fat?” she giggles, the baby cluelessly cooing back in glee. Her father sighs and shakes his head at her antics before turning back to the midwife. “So? What is his gender?”
“A healthy male.”
Thud.
Xiahong let out a deafening wail as Xiuying stood frozen, hands hung mid-air and face pale with shock.
Male. A brother.
She remained frozen even after the midwife and her father rushed to soothe Xiahong and check him for any brain damage. Dread began to sink in her stomach.
“Sit still Ah’Hong. Tsia bebe!” she clicks her tongue in annoyance as her brother spills more food down his chubby chin at the banquet table. She glances at her mother, brows knit with slight worry despite the aching smile on her lips.
As the maid servant approached with the next set of dishes, her mother inclined her head in thanks before furtively extending her long hanfu sleeves out, a glint of silver peaking from within to dip into the dish. After seeing that the metal had not changed colour, her mother let out an imperceptible sigh of relief before handing off the food to Xiahong when-CRASH.
Her mother jolts forward, silver needle knocked underneath the table as dishes go flying under the impact of the maid’s fumble.
The maid hurriedly knelt to the floor as Xiahong began crying at the shattered pot and food splattered all over his clothes. ‘Nubi zhi zui! Please show mercy, my Lady.” The maid’s forehead knocked soundly against the ground as she pleaded with Xiuying’s mother for mercy.
Xiuying’s eyes carefully surveyed the onlookers as the scene drew unwanted attention, from the plethora of male ministers and the females of the Li family snickering at their loss of face. When her father comes back from the North, they will never dare to look them in the eye. She purses her lips grimly as other palace maids came forward to clean the mess.
Glancing furtively to see if anyone noticed, she sneakily picks up the silver needle from under the banquet table and checks the new dishes dutifully, using her long hanfu sleeves to cover the gesture as her mother had before passing the dish to Xiahong. Her mother beamed at her in approval, patting her head before taking back the silver needle from her grasp.
Xiuying smiled - a genuine one as she busied herself with cleaning up Xiahong. As Xiahong lifted the spoonful of food into his mouth, a sinking feeling rose from her stomach.
Someone was watching them.
Her gaze roamed around the room before resting on her Uncle’s. Normally she would immediately flinch and look away, but something about his stare held her hostage. Then the realisation hit.
She whirls back around, arm extended to hurriedly knock out the food from Xiahong’s mouth but her mother was faster. Gracefully, her mother gently pried the spoon and dish away from her little brother and blew on it. Swallowed.
Soon her expression paled, fingers trembling inside the folds of her skirt.
“Oh dear, your face looks pale Lady Qin. Are you unwell?” The Beast's gaze locked onto its prey.
Her mother shook her head, clearing her throat with a pressed smile. “I do feel a bit faint, Your Majesty. Requesting you to let the Second Branch retire early.`` She bowed slightly with the classic open-palm fist salute.
Xiuying hurriedly stood up beside her mother, jerking her brother to stand as well.
Her Uncle waved his hand. “Very well, I wouldn’t want my dearest brother’s wife to fall ill now, would we?”
Without further hesitation, the three of them hurried out, Xiuying lugging a bawling Xiahong who’s hand still extended towards the soiled dish.
Just as they neared their palaquin - her mother keeled over. A spurt of blood expunging from her pale lips.
“Mu qin!” she cries, hurriedly dragging and pushing her mother into the palaquin as fast as she could. Inside the palaquin’s cushioned interior, Xiuying desperately snatched the silver needle from her mother and rolled up her sleeve - intending to detoxify her with Acupuncture.
The needle was too light. The weighting of the base was off - it was a fake.
“Stay with us bai tok.” She begs, tears blurring her vision as her hands scrambled to fish out the spare set - one they had always kept hidden under the seat compartment of their palaquin. Her fingers trembled violently as she inserted the needles into her mother’s pale arms…
It was too late.
Xiuying sat there in shock, holding her mother’s cold hands as Xiahong’s piercing cries echoed through the night. Her brother’s chubby hands instinctively sought hers, grasping and clawing at her in his bid to express his frustrations.
SLAP.
Xiahong stared at Xiuying, wide-eyed with shock. A strangled hiccup struggled through his lips as his cheek swells red. Realising what she just did, Xiuying immediately embraced her brother tightly, whispering her apologies over and over again.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She rocks back and forth, tears streaming down her cheeks. Xiahong lay carefully still, as if he knew that she wasn’t really comforting him more so than herself.
It was then she realised her father would never return from the North.
“If only you were born a girl.” she whispered…
Xiuying’s eyes flickered open, taking in the musty office nestled at the top of Yong Ping’s government building. As she lowered her head and lifted her calligraphy brush once again, she paused.
How long has it been since then?
With nothing but the clothes on their back, she and her brother had helped found a haven, safe from the experiences that haunted her past. A place where recognition and standing were earned through honesty and integrity, not through bloodline and deception.
Yet…
She looked out her office window towards the Li Family manor, lights aglow and laughter bubbling from inside.
What was their last conversation about…?
“You say everything you do is for the people - but what about us? My Feng’er - your niece - is twelve and you’ve never seen her face.”
Her gnarled fists clench tightly as she inhales and exhales deeply. A leader must not have any vices, must not entangle oneself in biased relations, the people must come first.
Alas, all she had to show for her efforts were deep frown lines and crow's feet etched into her aged visage. Her eyes held no mirth - recalled no warmth. It was nearing autumn and the cloistering scent of wilting cherry blossoms seemed to stifle the air.
As she strode to the balcony, Yong Ping’s vivid night scenery greeted her. From the awe-inspiring Dragon Gate to the floating lanterns that cast dull glimmers of light. A small smile stretched across her stern expression as a sense of fulfilment settled over her. Although her brows briefly furrowed with a hint of regret, as she turned round to return to her office, her back remained proudly straight. There was much of life she had to catch up on.
The next morning her ministers would find an empty office with a new official document on her desk, seal freshly stamped.
Title: Retirement.
[!] A portrait of Li Xiuying, Matriarch of Yong Ping, the Li family, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
