  1. To this day I don't understand why no one gets that removing money and items was my preference, not the decision. No decisions like that have been made, solely to avoid confrontation and resentment within the community.

When we decide it, you will know. If it happens, we will provide how we would play it out, both RP wise and technically. That's the only way that is fair for everyone.

  2. @Moglets

Your first point seems weighted on your idea that this is simply about map change, which it isn't. As you said about free time, you don't understand what this is about. This is not about simply changing things visually, that would be shallow and in vain. People would get bored knowing that the only change is a visual one. We want to improve things that are great, and remove things that are sub-par. I know that sounds vague, but for the sake of discretion, it is meant to be.

I doubt this will change your opinion, but regardless know that this change is more than just tidying up the place. We want to use our knowledge that we have learned running this server and use it to create a RP experience that people will truly appreciate. While the world itself plays a HUGE role in this, it is all in the details

Also, I want to know whose opinions you deem 'more valuable' in this thread. Please, indulge me.

I am off to bed, I will read the responses in the morning.

  3. @Moglet

I read over your post, twice in some spots, and have only two questions for you.

    1. You point out that your small sum isn't worth losing for a fresh start, but how do you justify that when others who have FAR more, for example DigginTilDawn, who is in the top five richest on the server, are willing to give up theirs to give newer players a even playing field?

    2. You repeatedly state that there is no 'justification' or 'compelling argument'. These are both subjective, as multiple people have given the opinions and reason for wanting a fresh start. Just because you find the opinions unequal to yours does not make yours right.

I would also like to mention that the Kits are intended to help balance this out for new players. Much like a 'Grand Re-Opening ' to a restaurant, we expect (With good reason) many new players with the New World release. Kits give a balanced start to all players, as well they reward those who have donated. Sure, Donators would receive benefits(Arguably advantages), but this is good business in the real world. We need to stay afloat, and donations keep us online. Without them, you wouldn't have your nestegg in the first place.

    Thanks for reading,

    MrZombez

PS - You stated that there is no compelling argument, however 90% of the people on your side just claim they don't want to lose the time spent. How is that compelling? You can't tell me that doesn't sound lazy.

  4. I will be completely honest. We have no clue.

We can guess that it will be no less than 2 months, since we have to wait for the official release of 1.9, and then we have to make it. The visual aspect has been in planning for more than a month, which has given us plenty to refine ideas. We are in a testing phase now, seeing the styles that we wrote out, and making sure everything goes smoothly. This was proven by Native, who posted some pis from the testing of Elven architecture.

So, simply put, you should get plenty of time from your Guild House, assuming Notch doesn't pull a U'y and release 1.9 early, not that it would be a bad thing.

  5. My idea with a livestream explanation would be for us to voice our thoughts, ideas and the like. From there we would direct people to a Forum Topic so they can voice their thoughts and opinions. Afterwards we would create a massive reply to the common comments and problems.

This isn't official, just a thought. Maybe if we can all plan a point where all Staff are accessible for a 1 hour stream.

    Who knows.

  6. I had an idea a while back, and while this is just that, an idea, I feel it might help with cluttered worlds.

Originally, we had it so you got a Lordship if you donated $100+, however that was because we didn't expect many people to donate. After a while it got out of hand, so we removed the perk.

So I figure, why not bring it back, but in a neutral form? I thought instead of "plots", we could give Lord's Manors to players who donate $100+ in the capital of their choice. Essentially you would receive a pretty house, in a Rich District, instead of having a blank plot.

    HOWEVER

This would be a fix for those donators who cannot build to match Lore, those who can(Prove themselves as well), can receive a plot in a designated area, assuming it matches Lore and does not overwhelm the area it is in ex/ Too big, extensive underground areas, places that look more like cubes than houses.

This is just my thoughts though, I understand if I sound like I want to dramatic change, however doing a 5 minute flyover today, and seeing how the world has changed for the worse, I think this could fix the cluttered world.

  7. I didn't mean like that. I was suggesting a livestream where we attempt to argue one point, then allow players to post their feelings on a specified forum topic.

However I like your idea as well, and while it may not be implemented, I implore that you try and organize such a thing. I don't have time, I just pop on to reply to posts here, but anything that well known players can do will be a great help.

  8. Imagine doing that for EVERY player in the game. It would be tough to regulate, and time consuming for those of use on Staff. Even creating a plugin could cause problems, whose to say it isn't exploitable? Or bugged, and people have no money.

This is why I stand strong on the Kit solution. People receive fair items and minas, and we can run it smoothly with very little error. There are plenty of fully working Kit plugins, I am sure. Especially if we can come up with a system that is balanced and Class based. If ANY players have suggestions/lists of what they consider fair Kits, I urge they PM me about it. Do not, however, PM me about how keeping things is better, or how it is unfair to lose them, please.

Don't ask how I found this, but I like that I did.

Accepted, I will personally promote you, just don't go and break the rules.

Also in reply to your Rule complaints, while I understand your point, understand ours, half of our players are under 15. While I don't like to condescend teens, let's face it, we were all immature assholes around that age at some point. We can't take risks and possibly ruin another player good time.

Hope your problems with them don't grow and cause problems within the server, regardless, have fun!

EDIT: Please PM and remind me to promote you. The server is down, so I cannot right now, sorry.

  10. To avoid future comments like this, I will answer you immediately.

The map we are on is facing its death day. It has taken a beating with heavy corruption, and we try and help this problem every day. Especially after the Ascended fiasco, corruption has been raised, we hope the eradication of World Edit use will help what little lifetime that is left, but over time it will die. We hope that thorough planning will help prevent the short lifetime of the server world, and planning out the complexity of the New World will help longevity,.

I am sorry about your soon to be loss, but we are not to blame, Notch's coding is. MC map corruption happens over time, World Edit just sped it up.

    MrZombez

  11. Sadly polls can be hacked and numbers changed. Also not everyone has seen this.

I also hoped to elaborate more on the Sets/Kits system I brought up.

I have it worked out to a class/role based collection of items. Essentially we pre-pick general classes/roles and decide carefully what each Kits should receive based on the role.

    Examples:

~Merchant Kit receives 1500 minas and 5 gold ingots.

~Gatherer Kit receives a fishing rod, shears and a hoe.

~Fighter Kit receives an iron sword, breastplate and leggings.

~Scout Kit receives a bow, leather chestpiece and leggings and a map/compass/watch.

~Jack-o-Trades Kit receives a stone sword, 500 minas and a fishing rod.

Also I would hope for Donator specific Kits, most would just be better versions of the Standard Kits, but some would be set aside for higher ranked donators, such as:

~Noble Kit receives 5000 minas and an iron sword.($100 and up)

~Knights Kit receives full iron armour with an iron sword.($50 and up)

~Shop Owner Kit receives 3000 minas and a fishing rod.($25 and up)

All of these are examples, and would require Staff and Player analysis before being implemented, if at all.

Also I want reiterate that it isn't that I am ignoring people about keeping their things. I know the time spent will seem wasted, but I think of it this way.

Let's say you played through Morrowind, thoroughly enjoyed it, but are left with very little to do, as you finished most of the quests, and all you can do is talk to people and walk around the same world. The next day you hear that the second in the series, Oblivion, has come out. You head out and get it, start up the game and come to a realization. You think that since you played through a similar experience, instead of heading in with nothing and exploring and earning your keep in this new world, you immediately use cheats, max out your character and begin running around doing random quests for lulz.

Now I understand there are differences, like the dynamic world and P2P RP that you can participate in. The point is that you should enter this world as though it is a fresh start, like you did with the Old one. I have already heard people say they worked hard for their items, and even seen the absurd "LAWL NO RP IN LOSING MAH STUFF" argument. While it may not be entirely my call, I just don't see many diverse reasons to keep items. You will find more within a short amount of time playing, and I guarantee if this Kits thing goes through, you will have it 5x as fast.

Also to go over donator money, chances are it will be reimbursed. We will never ignore our donators, as we know it is your hard earned money. We also established those benefits, so if you payed for it, you will receive it. Please note that it will not stack if you do keep your minas.

  12. Sorry but I just have to, note this isn't directed at anyone in particular.

I truly hate the argument that RP will be ruined by lack of items. Clearly you were not here for Day 1 release, we had nothing, we had to find jobs and earn minas from scratch. It took me a month and a half to get 15,000 minas, and then I had to pay 10,000 for a home. I don't mean to whine or say you are acting entitled, but really, RP won't be ruined, it will just be a struggle for your characters survival. It will be an earned wealth that you have a week-month from release, instead of having a tonne of money immediately.

As well, saying that you can't RP without items and money proves you don't understand what RP is. Sure it is a portion, but having nothing means you need to work together, working together requires socializing, social activities in a RP server are RP.

Once again, sorry, but I felt strongly about this, and to be honest, it is the worst argument people have. It has also been the most consistent one.

  13. Alright, I had hoped it would explain itself, but let me elaborate.

Sets/Bags/Packages, whatever you want to call them, work in a very simple, one time way. Now I haven't had time to come up with a complete list of Sets, so bear with me.

Lets say you just spawned, you have nothing but the shirt on your back, and up pops a message. This message clearly states you have access to the Sets plugin, since you have yet to choose one. Let's say you have the choice between three things, here they are:

-3 Diamonds, relatively useless on their own, but after time could make you a wad of cash.

-5 Bread and 500 minas, immediate use, especially for travelling to the cities without starving.

-1000 minas, will help you right away, assuming you can find someone to buy from.

These choices are, hopefully, balanced enough to give you something useful at the start, but small enough to not ruin immediate gameplay/economy. You can choose one, and lose the ability to choose again after you select one. Afterwards you go on you merry way and head of where ever the road takes you.

Now obviously these examples are poorly designed, since everyone who starts after a few weeks of release will choose Diamonds and get more minas then what the Set gives you. My point is, if properly looked over, we can potentially give people what they need immediatly, while keeping a clean slate.

Also, please don't think I am being insensitive about losing hard earned items and minas, I would be concerned as well. However I stand from a relatively neutral perspective, I don't gain from people keeping or losing their things. I just know that if we let everyone takes a bunch of items and minas, then it will be no different then how the server is now. There will be blurred classes, and new players will join into a place where they have nothing and are potentially abused until they earn their keep(OOCly), and players who have played for a while are the equivalent of a God compared to others.

Also I noticed you brought up leaders, and while I can't go into detail, I have been working on concepts to solve the GM Leader problem, and help ween Players into leadership roles in the New World. I will hopefully work on this with the others, and release the full product to the Community for review soon. Please also note that we will NEVER let someone take advantage of the economy. While I am sure you meant to exaggerate, if anyone was to ask for 5000 minas for one diamond, especially in a Leadership role, they would be punished for it. At least in the first few weeks. That wouldn't be fair and we know that.

I hope I cleared some things up, but I know this battle will rage on. While I still want Tabula Rasa, it is up to both parties, Staff and Players, to come to a consensus. I only want to create a fair structure to solve both problems.

    Regards,

    MrZombez

  14. I just woke up, and now have read everything that was written in the comments.

    @People who want their stuff

To be completely honest, whining about time spent really just makes me care less. I haven't seen any sort of argument against Tabula Rasa that isn't "I DESERVE IT BECAUSE I SPENT TIME ON IT". Acting entitled won't get you anywhere in my books, however, I have had an idea in my head for quite sometime.

Note this is preliminary, and NO ONE but me has brought this up. I don't say that to imply I work harder, but I want you to know that this is NOT official.

Essentially I want to create a system similar to Sets you find on Survival servers. Allowing players to pick between varied Sets that have heavy Pros and Cons. Ex/ 3 Diamonds that are worth something in the long run, compared to 500 minas and a stack of bread.

Now I don't know how players feel about this, but I personally think it is potentially more balanced than just aiding the Vet. Players. Obviously we would need to flesh it out more, but as for now just let me know how you would feel about this if, hypothetically, it was a finished, balanced product that was implemented.

  15. Hello Citizens of Aegis,

Due to the influx of questions demanding information on the New Map and its release, we have decided to give a peek at what is going to happen. Please note that we haven't started, since we need 1.9 to be released, and at the time of posting this, it hasn't. Also these ideas are not guaranteed, and may be subject to change, but until we get feedback from you, the players, we won't make any final calls.

    FEATURES

    1. Enhanced atmosphere

    A. Ever noticed that it is just a 5 minute walk from the farthest north city to the Dwarf capital? Well we feel that this ruins the overall feel of the RP atmosphere we try to dish out, so this is being looked at to fix, but not overwhelm you.

    B. Remember Charlie4vb's forest north of Al'Khazar? I think it safe to say everyone loved it and the feel it gave to the surrounding areas. We want this feeling throughout the world, to give a consistent atmosphere that envelopes you as you play, or even if you are a lazy OOC stroll.

    2. Transportation

    A. If you were expecting me to say TRAMS, you are sadly mistaken. However we have noticed since the start that roads always feel dull and are more there just to give you the direction, even at launch, the Kingsroad was just Stone, and was griefed, a lot. Why not add to the pretty forests a winding path that not only takes you where you need to go, but does it in style?

    3. Nations and Guilds

    A. If there is one thing that truly causes problems on this server, it is additional races. While many may want a water based race, or the furry little kitty race, it just doesn't work well with the size of the playerbase. Maybe if there was 500 average, but with 230 peak times, having more than four deters from the base ones.

    B. With the races part out of the way, lets get into Nations and Guilds. We feel that Guilds pop up out of the blue, claim Top Dog status, and then fall apart in a few days. Instead of having mistake prone player made guilds, we would much rather help regulate consistent guilds, help them grow and maybe even pop up newer settlements or possibly nations.

    4. Exploration

    A. We want people to explore our world, simple as that. We want to create a Role-Play set piece, and allow you, the player, a chance to explore lush forests, craggy canyons and old ruins. With this said, we also want a reason for you to return to them. As many may not know, I spent sometime testing out dungeons on the Old World, while I did not finish it, I may create plans in the future for more intricate designs. Maybe.

I hope I succeeded in explaining things well, without giving away to much. Granted you haven't seen the full plans, or read my extensive New World Concept.

As for me, that's it that's all.

    *WOOP*

    EDIT ~ ATTENTION

While nothing is for certain, as many have opinions and reasons, plus if we were just to pick randomly we can potentially anger the entire playerbase. What I am talking about is whether or not people will keep their possessions and money. I will give you my opinion, since I can't speak for others, note this is solely my opinion, this is most definitely not the final decision.

If I had my way, people would start from scratch. Tabula rasa. Nothing. Nada.

Why? It's a Role-Playing server, not a surviaval server. th intention is to RP and build a character, not gather the most lootz.
