An Obsidan throne with an Iron crown; where all the young and elder clans rally around

Only a kingdom where all clans reside; could be considered Grand in Urguans eyes

    Shame.

    A son of Urguan.

To die in this dishonorable way.

    Shame.

    Shame.

Justice will be met; the Doomforge who committed this sin will pay with their life.

(Here you should write on why your character would fit into the Brotherhood, and why you should join):

Hogarth has a long and varied story within the Grand Kingdom. He started as a legionnaire and within time rose to become Lord Diplomat and eventually Grand King in the Fringe. Due to his high achievements he soon after retired to a life of simplicity and service to the Brathmordakin. He was High Prophet for a number of years during which he attempted to revive the piety and devotion Dwed have to the faith. Along the way there have been many challenges to this from Orenian invasions to turmoil and strife within the Clergy. Hogarth now returns to continue his devotion to the Gods and the Dwarven people. He wants to help provide a place where Dwarves can express their faith and defend their nation. While Hogarth is best with the more peaceful side of faith like sermons and pilgrimages, he can still take up a sword or an axe to defend what he holds dear. He would like to serve in any way he can in order to revitalize the Dwarven nation and spirit.

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

This tale was written during the reign of the Grand King,  however  due to conspirators most of the information of the Grand King’s life has been kept hidden; concealed by those who do not wish the truth. Now however, with his ascension to paragonship, all light will be revealed over the Former Grand Emperor Paragon Thorin Grandaxe

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

"His Grand Majesty - Grand King Thorin Grandaxe, the first of his name, ruler of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and the Kingdoms of Salvus, Savoie, Oren, Karakatuan and Adunia, Slayer of Skarux the Alpha Dragon of the North, Holy Protector of the Human race and Liberator of the Elves and Halflings,” -Thorin’s title at his death

    Thorin's Empire

Now Known as Paragon Thorin Grandaxe was a dwarven ruler of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, who rose to prominence as a commander of the dwarven Legion during the final war in a long line of conflicts between the sons of Urguan and Krug. During this time, he'd met significant success on the battlefield, having not lost a single battle while in command of the conflict. As Grand King Thorin I, he was ruler of all the dwarven clans and his reign was vast and extensive, having ruled the Grand Kingdom of Urguan since the end of the orcish wars, until his death in 1438. In this time, he oversaw the dwarven realm at its greatest in terms of land and territory; holding fealty over the entirety of the human realm, including the kingdoms of Salvus, Savoie, Ruska, Oren, Adunia, as well as the kharajyr state of Karakatua. He was also known as the liberator of the halflings and elves, which had been left in a state of ruin, following their subjugation by the First Holy Orenian Empire, ruled by the Horen Dynasty. Upon his death, Thorin granted these conquered realms their independence and was thus named a Paragon, styled Yemakar's Fist. Thorin's Patron is Yemekar.Thorin Grandaxe was a Dwarven Grand King of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, who rose to prominence as a Legion Commander during the last Orc-Dwarf war, where he had a significant amount of success - having not lost a single battle during the conflict, and having achieved many of the Kingdoms victories at the time.

As Grand King Thorin I Grandaxe, he was ruler of the all the Dwarven clans, and particularly for a dwarf his reign was quite extensive; having ruled the Grand Kingdom from its founding of 1417 to his ‘death’ in 1438, in which saw the Dwarven race at their greatest ever height; having fealty over the entirety of the Human race  Kharajyr, and of course the entire Dwarven race itself Whilst also being known as the liberator of the halflings and elves, which were in a state of ruin after being both conquered and occupied by the  First Empire of Oren, which was ruled by the Horen Dynasty

    =_=_=Early Life=_=_=

    Spoiler

Thorin Grandaxe was the born in Aegis, the eldest son of Chaecus Grandaxe and Vulena Grandaxe, both parents had however met their demise short; Chaecus being assassinated by an Undead prophet, and a few weeks later Vulena had jumped off the Kingdom's highest tower. Consequently, after this not much is known of Thorin's life until his emergence as a Legionnaire during Hiebe Ironguts Reign of the Third Kingdom of Urguan, where he had came of age, however was considered a beardling by majority of Dwarves.

    =_=_=Time in the Legion=_=_=

    1390-1417

    Spoiler

When Thorin had joined the Legion, Hiebe Irongut was King, and Kjell Ireheart was the Grand Marshal. Kjells reforms in the Legion to allow a more meritocratic system in which those who worked hard were promoted. As a result of this new system Thorin rose through the ranks, and eventually had arisen to the rank of Commander, with the blessing of his predecessor, Gorum Frostbeard, who had recommended this then, young lad to the role of commander.

    =_=_=The Orc-Dwarf War no.1 Elysuim=_=_=

    Spoiler

When the war broke out, Thorin Grandaxe was an already established Commander within the Legion and when the Kingdom choose where they would strike. And, with large help of the soldiers of the Empire of Oren, the combined Human-Dwarven forces had taken the Orcish-mountain fortress, and Thorin was assigned in controlling the new keep. Having it re-named to “Khazard-Urukus” in honor of the battle. However, before Thorin would never truly test out what he had built, an unexpected disaster had hit Elysuim, and as a result the Dwarves all hopped on a boat, with the rest of the races for a new land, finding Kalos.

    =_=_=The Orc-Dwarf War no.2 Kalos=_=_=

    Spoiler

When the Dwarves had arrived in Kalos, the war had a temporary cease-fire, whereas the races had to seek new riches in these islands. However, the ceasefire would be short lived, and the Orcs would continue the war, attacking the Humans and the Dwarven capitals. The Dwarven Legion responded in attacking the orcs - in the middle island, and many skirmishes and conflicts between the Dwarves and Orcs took place there. Moreover, during Kalos, Grand King Thorik Grandaxe*had abdicated, and an elections were held, unexpectedly Thorin was elected for King, by Paragon Valen Grandaxe*, a wise dwarf, and now Paragon. Thorin, however was still seen as a beardling to the majority of the Dwarves, and who was far too young to yet be King, whereas Omithiel was wise, and old. However, after the elections, he had sworn directly fealty to King Omithiel Strongbrow, content in leading the Legion against the Orcs.

When Thorin had returned from a large victory against the Orcs, having brought a small force of Legionnaires to the Orcish capital against a force of orcs in their own capital, Thorin returned a hero, many dwarves celebrated the victory, King Omithiel even hosting a feast in Thorins honor. However the feast was cut short, when a mysterious and dark voice had hushed the hall, and a sprawl of hideous creatures had assaulted the many Dwarves, however Thorin and many of the Legionnaires managed to hold out, and the city remained safe.

When the disaster of the Dwarf capital in Kalos happened, Thorin Grandaxe was recorded to be in the thick of it; having been there when a demon had cursed the city, it was Thorin and his small squad that fought their way out of the undergrounds to warn the rest of the Dwarves, thankfully Thorin and his small company of Legionnaires had prevented the majority of the Dwarves being killed; with all the Dwarves evacuating the city.

    =_=_=The Orc-Dwarf War no.3 Anthos=_=_=

    Spoiler

When the Dwarves had yet again (with all the races) set sail for a new land, they found Anthos and the city of Kal’Azgoth. It would be in Anthos where the Orc-Dwarf war would end. When the Orcs had occupied the midpoint of both of their lands, which would later become the Grand Kingdom's capital of Kal’Ithrun. However, it would first be known as the Orcish fortress of ‘Fort Ugluk’ and it would be the last battle, and one of the biggest battles between the Orcs and Dwarves.

The Battle of Ugluk Fort had assembled a massive force; with the Orcish rex assembling a considerably large force(40-45), whereas the Dwarves had slightly curbed them in numbers (50), the battle would seem tight, the Orcs being on the defensive gave them a distinct advantage in the battle, knowing that the Dwarves only outnumbered them by a portion gave them a good chance at victory. The Orcs were under the Command of Vrograk’Gorkill, a deadly Uruk Rex who declared the war. The Dwarves were under the control of Thorin Grandaxe and the Grand Marshal, Kjell Ireheart.  However, Thorin had been given the honor of planning out the Legion’s strategy and planning for the siege of the Orcish held fort.

When the battle had ended, the Dwarves had emerged victories - having lead a counter-charge on the right-flank, taking the fort through a broken entrance made by the Orcs to weaken the Dwarven flank. As a result of the Dwarven victory, the Orcs had crumbled, the Orcish Rex, Vrograk had left the Orcs, shamed and dishonored by his loses it didn't take long until the Orcs crumbled, and a year later the Rexdoms of orcs collapsed for the first time, and the Orcs had split up into divided clans, ending the last great Orc-Dwarf conflict for millennia to come..

    =_=_=Thorin’s and Rise to Power=_=_=

    Spoiler

After the battle of Ugluk fort, the Legion had more or less been disregarded; the Orcish Rexdom had being beaten and disbanded. The Legion found itself in a peaceful occupation of its land, and with the deaths and absences of the majority of the older and wiser Dwarves of the Kingdom, a dwarven exodus had begun.

The result of these Dwarves having either left or died out, the nation saw troubling times; the Dwarves although winning the war, had largely been weakened, because  before the battle of Ugluk Fort saw many raids and skirmishes between both peoples, which weakened the Kingdom. However, after the War Thorin continued to rise in the Legion; King Omithiel having granted him the Fortress of Drake's Peak, and the land below it, which in time would form the Dwarven Navy, where the steam-boat was invented, by a Telchar Azaghual. Thorin had Drakes Peak built with the help of Kardel Irongut, who Thorin had considered a Loyal Dwed, but later would rebel against the future King...

When King Omthiel Strongbrow had resigned as King of ‘The Kingdom of Urguan’, the Dwarves saw a massive decline in their population, many clans being gone through the various deaths around the Kingdom, and oddly enough all of the Lords having resigned during the elections.A Dwarven exoduce Furthermore, the elections after King Omithiels abdication almost lead to chaos, a very young beardling being elected for King, by the Lord Karl Frostbeard, Kjell Ireheart having elected his own son, Dreek Ireheart, before himself left, and Gorum Frostbeard, having elected Thorin for King, before Gorum also left.

The Elections for King were tight; however Thorin had won by a substantial amount, and thus he was rightfully crowned the King of Urguan.

=_=_=Thorins Reign as King of Urguan=_=_=

    1417-1438

    Spoiler

When Thorin Grandaxes reign began, many new Dwarves took power, many of whom fought with Thorin during the Orc-Dwarf war, the likes of; Telchar Azagual, Farren Starbreaker, Narlo Greyhammer, Dreek Ireheart becoming Lords of the Kingdom of Urguan. Furthermore, the new King enacted harsher taxes on the more wealthy Dwarves, centralising the Dwarven economy, eventually becoming the richest Dwarf in the world. Furthermore, after the centralisation of the economy, Thorin convinced the Lords to grant him absolute crown authority; which gave Thorin the ability to do as he wished in the Kingdom of Urguan.

Thorin finally outlined a peace with the Orcs, claiming the entire river and the lands south of the new Dwarf Fortress (previously Ugluk Fort) for the Kingdom of Urguan. During Thorin's rule the Adunians were banished, however after the Adunian ‘High King’ Lachlan Mor swore fealty to Thorin, he allocated the Adunians into Whitscar, where Lachlan ruled as Jarl of Whitescar.

Multiple amounts of rebellions and attempted coups had occurred during the then King Thorin Grandaxe’s reign; each claiming the young ruler a Tyrant, all wishing to depose him or form their own regime, Dreek Ireheart was one Dwed who had attempted to usurp the Kings power

The young Thorin however, was able to crush each rebellion and coup that was attempted with the help of the loyalists such as Igor Ireheart, who had served him during the Orc-Dwarf conflict and would in time be named Paragon Igor Ireheart. However, these failed coups and rebellions had only strengthened Thorin’s overall rule. And, on one fateful day, Thorin had crafted the Obsidian Throne, which was a meteorite that had fallen from the sky, Thorin claimed it as a gift from Yemaker and a sign of his divine right to rule; declaring it the throne in which all true Dwarven rulers shall sit upon. Afterwhich, he officially establishes the ‘Grand Kingdom of Urguan’ in which he would rule with the title of Grand King, a title first used exclusively for Thorik Grandaxe, now would be hereditary and used by any ruler who sat on the Obsidian Throne

    =_=_=Thorins accession to Grand King=_=_=

    Spoiler

When Thorin had annointed himself as Grand King he was the undisputed ruler of the South of Anthos; having decimated the once great Orc nation when being the Supreme Commander and having vassalized the two Kingdoms Adunia and Karakatuan. Thorin’s rule was also further stablised by the fact he had a close alliance and friendship with Emperor Godfrey Horen of the Holy Empire of Oren, which at the time had recently conquered the Elven nation of the Princedom of Malinor. This act, subsequently lead to the decline of the Elven race and which would eventually, lead the Humans and the Dwarves the two only major powers in Anthos. And although the two nations prospered, tensions would rise between the two dominant powers.

And, after many decades of peace between the two powers. Eventually the tensions broke out when the Oren men had killed the Lord Narlo Greyhammer during the reign of Emperor Horen, the son of Godfrey in which the Empire had sent a military force exterminate the Salvian people. When the news broke out that Lord Narlo Greyhammer had been slain; the Grand King Thorin responded in the mobilization of his forces; taking the death of his Lord as a direct insult and declared war against the Empire of Oren, having used the time of peace to prepare for the inevitable conflict between the two powers

However, the forces of the Empire were already mustered and prepared for war and were already dug in at the main river. When the two forces met, it would be at the Bridge that had separated the two nations. However, the battle had depended on a plan  in which Thorin had hoped that the current Flay leader - ‘Lucius Blackmont’ and his levies to flank the Oren force from the side, in which Lucius had vowed to do.That was the first and only defeat the Grand King had in battle - the Flay leader having been promised land the gold and land; he had broken his vow and had instead flanking the Grand Kingdoms force, and obliterating Thorin's army.

The Grand King Thorin survived the battle, having been found heavily wounded in the battle, although left him unaltered in his resolve; when the defeat happened, many Dwarves speculate that Thorin was worried, and afraid, however the Grand Kingdoms fortress of Storms-Crossing, which was the Orcish Fort he had captured as the Legion Commander was to re-constructed and completely re-modeled, the Grand King demanding a Dwarven fortress unparalleled to all others before and after it. Also the Grand King had been able to afford to build massive defences for the Grand Kingdom, building many great walls in his lands, to prepare for the Empire's counterattack.

When the construction of Stormscrossing was complete, it was more than Grand King Thorin had ever hoped for - the fortress being constructed by the finest craftsmen and builders around his domain, the Orcish Rex also lending his aid to the construction. And as a result Storms Crossing was finished extremely quickly - Thorin pouring all of the Grand Kingdoms supplies and resources into the construction, which would evidently pay off; as it would be made into the Capital city after Thorin’s death. However, unexpectedly the Empire of Orens main military force, the White Rose as well as the Emperor himself Horen I had left mysteriously Anthos, leaving the Empire in political chaos.

=_=_=The collapse of the First Empire of Oren=_=_=

    Spoiler

And through this chaos Thorin would eventually conquer the entire Empire of Oren; having pushed the Empire of Oren to a negotiation of peace, where the Grand King Thorin Grandaxe would be handed demand many things from the disbanding of the Empire, the aquisition of the Kingdom’s of Salvus and the Heartlands along with a statue of Thorin himself, and as Thorin had expected the Humans declined, at which point ‘The Torch’ by the same Dwarf who had guided Thorin to Commander many years prior, Gorum Frostbeard, where he lit the peace terms on fire stating “There’s yer peace”. Two stone hours later the King of Salvus had sworn direct fealty to Thorin, and not long after this move  would eventually lead to the First Empire of Orens collapsing.

This eventually forced the Emperor William of Oren to accept Thorin's peace treaty, being wrought with the chaos left behind from the exodus’ which was furthered by the unrest that the remnants of the then renegade Flays, including the political strife that had plagued the Empire lead to its ultimate downfall. With the Emperor William accepting Thorin’s peace deal, the heartlands that had previously belonged to the White Rose, and formally bringing the end of the Empire of Oren, with Horen’s heir, William Horen no longer being ‘Emperor’ but simply ‘King’ of Oren.

Eventually, the Nobles houses within the now fractured Empire had rebelled against their previous Emperor but now King of Oren, and soon enough every Noble house within Oren swore direct allegiance to the Grand King Thorin Grandaxe and accepted him as their Liege-Lord, when finally the King of Oren himself William Horen, swore allegiance to the Grand King and accepting Thorin as his Liege-Lord and ruler.

    =-=-=Thorins Late Reign=-=-=

    Spoiler

When Thorin had ruled as the Grand King over both Man and the Dwed, thus making him the most prestigious and powerful dwarf in history -. Thorin's rule over such a vast and diverse Empire stretched the abilities of the administration quite thin; it is said that Thorin's long term plans was to merge sons of Horen and Urguan into one grand entity, however after some time, he had met his fate at the hands of the of the fallen Aengul Ondnarch and thus fragmenting the great empire he had held together.

During his rule over the many noble human houses, he had elevated some, such as the House Carrion, whom he granted Kingship, granting the once banished peoples, the ‘Adunians’ their own Kingdom, But whilst his rule over the humans remained undisputed, the squabbling factions within the humans were always prevalent, only Thorin himself was able to keep peace between the houses. and as a result, on Thorin’s deathbed he granted Independence to all the Vassal Kingdoms, save for Salvus and Adunia; knowing that after his death all the humans would rebel against the Grand Kingdom.

One day, on finding another Golem Anvil, Thorin had 5 Golems, which suddenly for no reason known at the time, went insane and attacked the Grand King, who was found half dead, having defended the 5 Golems from the Obsidian Throne

    =-=-=Thorin’s death=-=-=

    Spoiler

After the Grand King’s death, it was decided that no other Dwed could hope to maintain the Empire Thorin had amassed; and it quickly proved true as many factions within the Grand Kingdom had started to defect from the Grand Kingdom.

Furthermore, after the Grand King’s death, the many Dwed he had defeated in the grand political schemes in the Kingdom began to rise within power, using their influence to rub out the name of Thorin Grandaxe as best they could, by claiming his victories as theirs, by refusing Paragonship, to Grand King of Kings, but now after nearly 200 years, 1,200 stone days, 21 Successors to the Obsidian Throne he had crafted, would he finally be named Paragon and the history of this particular Dwed, finally be revealed.

    Spoiler

I wrote this about 4 years ago now (lol) and i never actually posted it or anything, just wanted to post this now because the character i played was quite enjoyable and i thought i might aswell share my story with you the community.

    Thanks for reading..

    ((TL;DR)):

  15. *Soon the word travels to Ognar's ears, who had been residing away from the conflict to prevent himself from the great sin of slaying the kin of Urguan*

*Ognar drops his staff before falling onto his chair, furious with rage and anger begins to weep at the unnecessary losses of the Kin of Urguan*

*Suddenly a small voice from a Golem Core reaches out to him...*

  16. *Ognar himself recalls reminding the two Kings (Verthaik and Skippy) of the importance of the Dwarven-Unity when they were both running in the election as candidates*

*Thinks to himself, pondering on the civil war*

"Deh Dwed will descend into a new age of darkness an uncertainty if this Civil War doesn't resolve without either a clear winner, or a imminent peace treateh...

Though i fear et may beh too late any such peace talks now. And, consequently the matter, i fear can only be settled through the price of Dwed blood and Dwed Iron in the battlefield. May Yemaker have mercy on this Grand Kingdom.. .

  17.

*Bastion Ireheart speaks up to the dwarves gathered around the centre of Kal'Karaad in response to this declaration*

"Ah believe a decision loike t'is shouldnae and cannae beh made wit'out ATLEAST firs' discussin' it wit' teh senate, weh should 'ave teh roight teh decide our regent as was teh way teh Senate was set up. T'is so called 'Triarch' nae represents w'ot teh people want as our temporary absence ov' our Gran' King.

Ognar, a dwarf w'o 'as nae done aneh work for teh Gran' Kingdom in w'o knows 'ow long w'o comes back n' git's a position as regemt?, Sounds edgy teh meh, Jorik, our Gran' Marshal, teh military should nevah lead teh nation, n' our Lord Chancellor, 'ogarth, a courtier w'o prefers feckin' lads tehn actualleh doin' aneh work.

Ah call a Senate meetin' teh decoide w'o our regent is, as weh should onleh 'ave 'un."

*Hears the dwarf speak, taking notice on the words he used when mentioning his name as he begins to step forward*

Ye' speak of me with such disapproval, an as such ye are welcomed to do so... 'owever stating dat i 'ave done neh work fer deh Grand Kingdom is undoubtedly false; i 'ave served des Grand Kingdom fer many years an i will continue to do so until deh Obsidian Throne itself crumbles. Ye can doubt mi ability in governance all ye want, but sayin that i have 'ave neh proved myself to deh Grand Kingdom up to this point just shows yer ignorance in what i 'ave done fer this Nation.

"Per'aps consultin t'e senate first would 'ave prevented us from inferin'!"

Also, ef deh Senate neh approves of deh Grand King choices of deh Triarchy, then i, Ognar Grandaxe shall call upon a Senate meetin to beh 'eld to settle the matter. So dat the Senate, an' more importantly deh people can put their confidence in this temporary regency. An' when dat is sorted, then we can focus on winning the war against deh Uruks instead of bickering amongst ourselves an dividing deh unity dat once made deh Grand Kingdom, Grand.

  18. *Hears the news of the unfortunate death of another Dwarf and thinks to himself*

"Such a waste, if he truly wanted an honorable death he would fight and die in battle against the Grand Kingdoms enemies, rather than to shame Clan in such a way"

*Shakes his head, as he continues to work once more on his project*
