  1. That sounds like quite a good system; from my experience as a guard, the main issue with chases at the moment is that if the chaser attempts to perform some action (such as shouting at the pursued to halt, attempt to tackle them to the ground etc.), they need to stop in order to type whatever they are going to do, and this means that the individual can easily escape.

    -Character Name:

    Thaern

    -What is your Race?:

    Human

    -Lordofthecraft.net/forum forum account:

    w1lll

    -Biography:

Thaern was born in the northern settlement of Snowy Fields. His father was a guard in the city, his mother a serving woman in The Crossroads Inn. When the Undead assaulted the town, Thaern fled with his family, out into the northern wastes, leaving behind everything they had ever known. In their panic, they fled well beyond the small region that they knew, and became lost in the north. The cold claimed his mother, as well as his father's left hand.

The two of them traveled for days, foraging and hunting, just managing to collect enough food to survive. They were close to starving when they saw a road in the distance. It turned out to be a forgotten road, almost buried beneath the snow. One way led to Al Khazar, the others towards Snowy Fields. Thaern's father instructed him to travel to Al Khazar, in the hope that he would be safe there. His father headed north, vowing to return with the family's valuables. He never did. At the next settlement Thaern came to, he purchased a map of the north, a compass, and some survival supplies, and headed back north after his father. There was no trace of his father's whereabouts to be found anywhere.

For months on end, Thaern searched the northern wastes for his father, with no success. One day, Thaern found a barely alive man buried in the snow, cold to the touch. He brought the body back to his tent, and in the warm it began to recover. Within a day the man was strong enough to stand, and simply got up and left. When Thaern called out to him, the man turned his helmeted head and stared at Thaern with the red glow inside his helmet, where his eyes should have been, before walking off. Thaern attempted to follow his tracks, but the falling snow quickly concealed them. *

The search continued. Thaern found remnants of a battle, which appeared to have involved Undead, judging by the scorched patches of grass that were evident where snow should have been. Realising the peril of his situation with Undead so far into the north, he was forced to abandon his search, and head towards a town, somewhere that would be relatively safe.

And so Thaern came to Al Khazar, capital of Oren. With its high walls and disciplined military, there were few places more safe. Or so he believed.

    -Character Age:

    27

    -Character Appearance:

Thaern has black hair, with a black beard. He is roughly 5ft 11" tall, average for a human, with a slightly more muscular build than the average human, due to his years in the wilderness.

    -Character Personality:

Thaern has a fierce hatred of Undead, and is still bitter after what happened to both of his parents. He can become somewhat aggressive over the incident at Snowy Fields, adamant that military aid should have been sent to hold back the Undead. He is quiet and will often not enter a situation without observing it from a distance, another trait he has picked up from his time in the far north. He is willing to be led if he believes it necessary.

    -Your ambitions:

Thaern seeks to find his father, and destroy all of the Undead, after the attack on Snowy Fields. He will go to almost any lengths to achieve this, but would probably draw the line at murder, dependent on the situation.

-Can your character read or write?:

He is very fond of books, and he practiced his writing during his solitude by recording all that he had discovered during his time in the wilderness.

    -Can your character mine?:

He can hollow out a small shelter in the ground, but that is about the extent of his mining ability. Most of the rock in the north was covered with ice and snow.

    -Are you a capable builder?

He can construct a rudimentary shelter, but not much else, as he has little cause to build in the wilderness.

    -Can you wield a sword?:

    -Enjoy Farming?:

He does not particularly enjoy it, but will do so if necessary.

-Does your character have any special skills?:

He can survive in desolate places by foraging and hunting, is a competent tracker, and has a slightly above average resistance to cold.

    Dwarf

    w1lll ( '>http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6872)

    -Biography:

As the third and youngest son of Threk Ironhand, Orric never seemed likely to inherit much of his father's wealth. Threk was a wealthy merchant in Kal'Urgan, who took advantage of a boom in the iron market to make vast amounts of coin. Now a member of the aristocracy, he ensured that his three sons were educated in the ways of the nobility, as well as those of the sword. However, when Orric was just 43, his father and both brothers perished in a cave in whilst inspecting a newly purchased mine. A struggle broke out between his uncles for the riches left behind by their brother. Orric was an obstacle to their goals, so they conspired to kill him. One night, mercenaries sent by both uncles invaded the mansion. Unbeknown by the other, one uncle plotted to murder the other that night. As both sets of mercenaries approached the second level, fighting broke out as one group suddenly attacked the other. Orric took advantage of the confusion to take his father's sword and cut his way out of the mansion and leave the city, believing it to be unsafe to stay whilst his uncles remained alive. When the guard arrived, they found only corpses; the surviving uncle escaped with roughly half of his men, and eventually inherited the estate, losing it in a bet five years later.

Orric travelled the world as a sellsword, honing his talents with the blade, but never remaining in the same place for fear his uncles may send assassins after him. Twenty years later, whilst guarding a dwarven caravan, he came within sight of the city walls for the first time since his midnight escape. A lot of things had changed since then; the surviving uncle had died of a fever in a hovel, never quite recovering from a wound taken whilst trying to kill the man who had won the estate from him.

As he approached those gates again, Orric silently vowed to reclaim his rightful inheritance.

    -Character Age:

    63

    -Character Appearance:

Orric is a normal height for a dwarf, with ginger hair inherited from his mother, a mountain dwarf met by his father whilst on an excursion overground. He has a fairly long beard.

    -Character Personality:

Quiet, can be aggressive if provoked, but life as a mercenary has ensured that this is very rare.

    -Your ambitions:

    To reclaim his rightful inheritance.

-Can your character read or write?:

As the son of a noble, he can read and write very well.

    -Can your character mine?:

    A little, yes.

    -Are you a capable builder?

He has no real skill in building, but can construct a rudimentary house given the materials.

    -Can you wield a sword?:

Years of working as a mercenary have honed his skill with the sword.

    -Enjoy Farming?:

He will farm if he must, but does not enjoy it.

-Does your character have any special skills?:]

He is more hardy than the average dwarf, due to his years guarding merchant caravans.
