  1. *Karinto stands motionless and hooded in the corner of the courtyard, her eyes fixed on the flickering flames coming from Dawn's room. She watches the blaze silently for a while, then speaks quietly*

"I respected you for so many reasons...and yet I resented you for just as many..."

*Continues to watch in stunned sadness for a while, then speaks again*

"I thought that perhaps the day Solace chose another ruler would be when it could begin to grow into what you originally intended it to be, but this...such an abrupt passing..."

    *She shakes her head*

"Solace...the name has always been a mockery of this city, yet I always hoped it could grow beyond that. But I have lost all faith in it now. I resented you, Dawn, but I never wanted to see you dead...and so I will mourn for you..."

Why you wish to join the military:

The people living in Winterfell were the first to aid me during my travels of Aegis. They took me in when I stumbled across their town, and I wish to repay them for their kindness by serving the new Nation of Salvus.

What weapon are you most comfortable with (and your stats for swords, axes, archery, wrestling and smithing:

I am equally comfortable with bows and axes, but prefer to use bows. (Swords: 0, Axes: 33, Archery: 33, Wrestling: 17, Smithing: 0)

What military experience (if any) do you have?

I have no formal military experience, but I assisted the Winterfell guards on hunting trips, and I am a capable solo hunter.

Have you read and understood the military order and laws post? (Name one of the laws of high accord and the fines that can be imposed from it)

I have read and understood the military order and laws. One of the laws of high accord is plotting with an enemy of Salvus, and is punishable by a fine of between 2000 and 5000 minas.

    In-Character

    -Character Name:

    Sharela

    -What is your Race?:

    Elvish, subrace Wood Elf

    -Biography:

Sharela was born in Laurelin to two well-respected members of the Elven community. Her birth was cause for much celebration, due to the lamented rarity of Elven children. Looked upon fondly by every Elf she encountered, Sharela certainly did not lack attention. Yet despite this, she was lonely. Being the only child in Laurelin, there were no others her own age with whom she could spend the hours.

In spite of her loneliness however, her life was a happy one. Knowing full well that their beloved child must face the harsh realities of the world in only twenty short years, Sharela’s parents were fiercely protective of her. But after her seventeenth birthday, they sorrowfully conceded that they would be doing her a disservice by protecting her any longer. Little did they know how utterly devastating her first experience with the world would turn out to be.

Hearing that several Dwarves were visiting the nearby town of Ravenhold, Sharela’s parents took her there with the intent of showing her Dwarves for the first time. The girl was enthralled by the sight of such strange beings. Their short, stocky forms fascinated her. She did not, however, understand their love for being underground. Having being surrounded by the trees of Laurelin from birth, she much preferred to breathe fresh, pine-scented air. Growing bored by the Dwarves’ talk of iron and stone, Sharela slipped out from under her parents’ watchful eyes, and sought out nearby forests to explore.

Unfortunately for the young Elf, a group of Human bandits were camped in the area, and she came across them whilst exploring. Having never seen Humans before either, she openly and curiously approached them. To her horror, they seized her and carried her off deep into the forest to the west. Finding herself a slave to the bandits, she was forced to do all the tasks around the camp that they did not want to, and to carry heavy burdens when they moved their campsite. They were merciless and punished Sharela whenever they thought she was not working fast enough.

This continued for a year, with Sharela suffering horrific abuse at the hands of the bandits. One particular incident left the young Elf lying on the ground, bruised and weeping. Filled with rage and shame, Sharela slipped a sleeping remedy in her guard's food that night, stole his dagger and slit all the bandits' throats whilst they slept. Lying down amongst the corpses, she slept peacefully for the first time in a year. When the sun rose however, she saw her handiwork properly for the first time. Horrified by what she had done, Sharela swore never to wield a blade again. Instead, she claimed a bow and quiver full of arrows, and a simple wood axe the bandits had used before running as far and as fast as she could away from the bloodied campsite.

Although she was free again, Sharela was filled with shame at her actions, and terrified by the prospect of returning to Laurelin and facing her parents. But her kidnapping and subsequent abuse by the bandits had ingrained in her a deep-seated distrust of the other races. Thus unwilling to return to civilisation, she fashioned a small home for herself in the woods. For fourty years she lived alone, hunting when she needed food and avoiding all contact with the world. She became a capable fighter with both her bow and axe, and also learned how to camouflage herself among the trees. Her knowledge of herbs and plants enabled her to find food when animals were scarce, and she taught herself how to fashion bows, bowstrings and arrows so she could replace hers when they broke. But in spite of her mistrust and shame, Sharela’s loneliness eventually overcame all else. Confident that she would not be so easily taken unawares again, she steeled herself, and set out in the hope of not only making friends, but redeeming herself in her own eyes for her slaughter of the bandits.

    -Character Age:

58 (Extremely young by Elven standards)

    -Character Appearance:

Sharela wears green and brown attire to better blend into her woodland home. Her green eyes and pale blonde hair are quite typical for a Wood Elf.

    -Character Personality:

As a result of her experiences, Sharela's personality is a strange mixture of longing to have friends, but not wanting contact with anyone. Inherently mistrustful of anyone she doesn't know (Humans in particular), but would do absolutely anything for someone who proved themselves a true friend. She is not violent by nature, but her curiosity tends to get her into situations where she needs to defend herself. Even then, she endeavours to avoid taking lives.

    -Your ambitions:

Besides wanting to make at least one friend, Sharela is driven by a desire to atone for her murder of the bandits. She hopes that she can find some way to do this by offering her talents to others.

-Can your character read or write?:

    Yes, competently.

    -Can your character mine?:

No, she has no interest in venturing underground.

    -Are you a capable builder?:

She can build a small, temporary shelter, but not much more.

    -Can you wield a sword?:

Sharela has sworn never to wield a sword.

    -Enjoy farming?:

No. She could farm if she wanted, but prefers a more nomadic lifestyle.

-Does your character have any special skills?:

She is a competent archer. She also likes to think that she can sing fairly well.

    -Other Information:

While her education is extremely limited in comparison to most other Elves, she has a basic understanding of politics and the fine arts. Regardless, she prefers not to get mixed up in anything of a political nature if she can avoid it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. It's greatly appreciated :)
