  1. Out-Of-Character:

    Minecraft Account Name:

    Aldriona

Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?:

    No

    How old are you?:

    25

    Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

    Sweden, GMT+1

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

    Yes.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I'm an artist and active roleplayer who has studied game design in the past but is currently working on becoming an art teacher. I've been roleplaying since my early teens and it still remains my favourite hobby.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Between six and three hours a day, depending on my current schedule, and more during weekends.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.:

I've been roleplaying for at least 13 years now, everything from purely text based chat rps online to tabletop games like DnD to larping. My personal focus when rping is immersion and character building. I want to build a believable character, and feel with her as she lives her life. Of course, the most important part is the experience my character can generate for others, rather than personal enjoyment, but in the end they become one and the same.

In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.

Metagaming is the delicate art of using ooc information in order to affect your ic decisions in ways they might not have been made otherwise. When done for personal gain and advantage, it's a terrible thing that should never be done, but there are the rare instances when it can be used to further the story in a way that will benefit everyone involved.

Powergaming, on the other hand, is never a good thing, and usually the result of a player losing track of the difference between the goals of a player and the goals of a character, thinking that "winning" is more important than making sure everyone is having a good time.

CLARIFICATION: I realise I was a bit fuzzy, probably since it's such an obvious thing in my mind. Powergaming would be when you for example refuse to take hits in combat, magically dodging every single attack, typing emotes that leave no room for the other player to affect the course of events, such as *attacks such-and-such and cuts off his head, killing him instantly*. I realise now that I wrote more about why it happens than what it actually is. ;)

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I've heard a little from friends who already play on the server. From what I understand, rp is plentiful, with a mix of both seasoned rpers and the less experienced. Knowing that there might always be people online to talk to will be nice.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have played on a small private server for a short while, but the majority of my time has been spent on Tales of Mel-Lenxia, another rp server. I played there as both a regular player, Community Manager, Moderator and eventually an Admin. My time there was wonderful, even if there was a lot of work once I became in charge of more and more things. Sadly, Mel-Lenxia is nearing it's end and I hope to find a new home to make my own, where I might be able to put more focus on my own character and rp.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

    Yes

How did you hear about us?:

Friends on Tales of Mel-Lenxia who play on this server as well.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?

    Yes; 2925.

What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?:

    Aldriona

    In-Character:

    Character Name:

    Aldriona

    What is your Race?:

    Halfling

Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Aldriona has grown up with her human mother in Al'Khazar. She never met her father, but has asked her mother to tell the story about him again and again. Before she was born, Aldriona's mother used to be an explorer and traveler, moving around the world with no particular goal and living day by day. As the story goes, she got caught in a dwarven village as the first snow fell, and ended up spending the winter months with them, until the roads were clear enough to travel again. She met a man there that she became very fond of, and as she left she was expecting Aldriona. But she never went back, nor did she tell him about the child. She knew he had no interest in spending his life with a human, and the child would be a burden to him. So instead, she settled down in Al'Khazar, deciding to open a small shop and provide for the child on her own.

Aldrionas childhood was pleasant but uneventful. Her mother became a sempstress, providing beautiful gowns for the richer ladies of the city. Although they never made enough money to live a rich life, they weren't lacking either. Her mother adored her doll-like little daughter, often using her as a living display of her craftsmanship by dressing her up in elaborate dresses as the girl helped run the shop while her mother worked. She was the beloved maskot of the store, and most of her life she didn't mind. Rather, she enjoyed the attention, compliments and occassional sweet treats that the customers might give her. However, as she grew older she started to see how they kept on treating her the same. Now more than twenty summers old, she was still being spoken to as a small child, and regarded as the same.

What was once a source of enjoyment became an annoyance, and quietly she started to resent the rich ladies and their condecending ways. Unable to discuss it with her mother, who treated her much the same way as well, she suffered in silence. Until the day she just couldn't take it anymore, and decided to leave. She left a message to her mother, describing how she wanted to live her own life for a while, but might return home one day. She snuck off in the middle of the night, so that no one would stop her. She brought little with her, unwilling to steal from her mother or the shop. This is where we find her now, with no clear goal in life, no money in her pockets or real life skills to live on.

She's small, as any halfling, and more cute than attractive. Her hair is fiery red, matched with delicate pale skin and generous amounts of freckles, should she spend any time at all in the sun. She's simply dressed, having decided to leave her mother's more fanciful creations at home and go for something sturdier and more practical, but even this dress is starting to see some wear and tear.

She's generally a kind and cheerful soul. She's seen a friendly life so far and has yet to face the more unpleasant sides of life, and as such might not be entirely prepared to deal with them. She's trusting and sees good in all, which she may or may not end up regretting now that she's on her own in the "real" world.

    Your characters ambitions:

She wants to make her own name in the world, and figure out what she wants with her life, what she wants to be and do. She's also been toying with the idea of seeking out her father one day, but since her mother never named him, nor the name of the village she met him in, that might become more than just a challenge.

Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?

Unable to fight, she would be afraid to help the elf, unless absolutely sure that she could do so safely. She would probably hide among the trees and wait for the fight to be over, waiting for the elf to either win or be left behind where she could tend it's wounds. She would attempt to help the elf, of course, but wouldn't want to risk her own life.

Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?

"Miss, if you please. I'll need a dozen eggs, a pound of flour, and…" *checks her shopping list* A bag of sugar, please. *digging through her pocket she locates a handful of silver coins and drops them on the counter* That should be enough, I hope.

    Other Information:

I have intentionally written a very open ended character with limited knowledge of the world. This is both to make up for my still somewhat lacking knowledgr of the lore, there's so much to read up on and learn. Keeping the character as open ended as it is will also leave a lot of room for developement, in whatever direction I find most interesting most I'm more familiar with the server.
