    History:

    Aegis

During the time of Aegis a young Myrddin Azaghul committed the sin of lying with elf kind while in a marriage. An honorable Dwarf he entered a self imposed exile and took his wife and young children to live on their own in a cabin deep in the forests of the Dwarven lands. There they raised their children and made a decent living selling lumber and the minerals found in the nearby hills.

In time the children grew up and both parents grew older. Eventually their mother died out of natural causes and a aging Myrddin was left with four adult offspring. Telchar the oldest, then Kolbar the reckless and finally the young twins Rohm and Oisin. As their father begin to suffer from his great age Telchar the most ambitious of the family made a decision that would change the fates of their families forever. He choose to return to the Dwarven Kingdom and take his family with him, hoping a human lifetime of self-exile would forgive the crimes of his father.

Unfortunately before they could make it the spawn of Iblees struck and they were forced to evacuate with the rest of Aegis to Asulon.

    Asulon

The move to Asulon was one of hardship as the family had not expected it and thus struggled with supplies. It was on this voyage they met the Orc Ug and the Elf Avakare. Both outcasts of their nations but all drawn together by a common need. With the intention to return to the land of Urguan at first Telchar soon realised that it would never be possible to live alongside his new found allies in the halls of the Dwarves. Instead, they sought a new home once the ships made port and soon found a mountain in the Orcish lands to build a settlement that in time grew to be Azagost Hold.

Azagost Hold started out as a farming community and later a shipyard. Men, Elves, Orcs and Dwarves flocked to work the fields and docks. Soon, they had too much crop for themselves, and started to sell their goods at the Cloud Temple just down the road. It became so successful. that the brothers decided to create the ‘East Azagost Trading Company’ which had nine stores all the way from Hanseti to Alras. The shop in Alras was the largest shop in all of the lands and only furthered their wealth. The Dwarven Nation recognised them as independent Dwarven Hold and even in time the Orcs began to respect her mighty walls.

Soon, as was for all in Asulon it was to come to an end. Once more were the ships embarked and once more were the Azaghuls found at sea though this time well supplied. During the voyage a mighty storm hit and all was to be thrown overboard. Realising what had to be done the large chest of gold they brought went overboard. Unable to watch the vast wealth of his family dissapear beneath the waves the fool hardly Kolbar grabbed on and sank with the chest as the ship sailed on. Grief overtook the family and in a matter of weeks since sailing they had they lost their wealth, their company and their brother. So, in Elysium, brought to their very lowest once more they had to join the Dwarven Legion to survive. The entire family of Azaghuls, even the now ancient Myrddin swore the oath. Not short afterwards, they joined the Dwarves in establishing a temporary Hold on a nearby island. Determined to prove their worth the family practically built the entire thing including the roads and great bridge that spanned the gap to the gate. Now they had finally been noticed by the Dwarves themselves and quickly climbed the Legion ladders.

    Anthos

Finally the move to Anthos began. After befriending the Legions Commander and discussing the lack of a Navy the veteran shipwright Telchar Azaghul was quickly made head of the newly formed Dwarven Armada . In time the same Legion Commander, Thorin Grandaxe was elected Grand King and for his loyalty and friendship made Telchar Lord. Taking his family with him they took to the seas and under the newly created rank of Admiral the formed the Dwarven Navy. Granted the Northern Hamirite Island to form a Naval Fortress, Telchar also created the clans Hall upon its peak and finally the Azaghuls had a new home since the long lost Azagost Hold. At an already impressive height of power Telchar was then granted the decayed and neglected Hold of Brom'Krah to restore. Holding the title of Admiral Lord Jarl, Telchar had finally achieved his goal from Aegis. To restore the honour of the Azaghuls. The ancient Myrddin now bed bound in the great clan hall though felt that although the Azaghuls now held more political power than they ever had it was the money that still mattered. After all what is a Dwarf without his gold? The clan now strives to match its political power with its economic.

    Beyond Anthos

After Myrddin and the King died it was not much longer before the Empire itself began to creak. All the safety and power the Azaghuls had gathered began to crumble around them. Telchar the ever wise choose to consolidate their assets before they were lost. Taking one of his steam vessels and all the blue prints of his future ships he ordered the retreat of the surviving members of his clan to their island Clan hall. This even Telchar knew was but a temporary fix to his clans problems. In time the new Dwarf King looked on with envious eyes and plotted to strip the Azaghuls of their prized island and the plans that lay deep within its halls. Telchar would see it that they arrived to an already abandoned land. Once more stuffing his steamer with every schematic and supply he could fit, his clan sailed for the fabled Fringe to once more make their home...

    Culture and Tradition:

Most Azaghuls are Naval workers. They are quite solitary, they don’t get involved with other families. Which is why their Clan name is so unique. They are quite ambitious. The clan member’s bonds to each other is very strong. They will always promote an Azaghul over anyone else.

When clan members meet up, they punch each other in the gut as a greeting.

Firstly what is yer name and yer settlements name?

Telchar Azaghul, and I be representin' clans island, Azaghul Island

Where is yer settlement located on t’is map?

Tis t'e northern most island in the Hammerite Island chain.

*The lord shows you a map of the land of Urguan and asks you to mark it out for him*

    ((Coords as well))

    TKbvNyS.jpg

How long has yer settlement been there?

Since the corination ov King T'orin.

How many residents do ye have?

((Serious numbers no exaggerating, and by this saying you have 10 but only 5 are active))

Six, all being members or friends ov me clan

What can ye provide fer teh Kingdom ov’ Urguan? Fer example, goods, weapons, men etc.

W'en choosin' t'e island I opted fer one dat also protected me docks. T'e island is not only a clan 'all but a fortress. It be t'e first line ov defence should our enemy attack by sea from t;e North.

Why should /we/ let /ye/ live within our lands?

T'e island was a gift from t'e King fer me work on t'e Kingdoms naval defences and me clans work on t'e Holds dat were built during our travels from Asulon. Me clan still provide t'e same level of defence from dat fortress as te day it was built and if ye allow us t'e remaind dere we will continue doin' so.

    Do
ye acknowledge t’at if weh dunnae foind t’at yer settlement has any
usefullness within our lands that we shall destroy it and evict all it’s
residents aswell as anyone who stands in our way

    Aye

  4. Looking out across his now quiet harbor Lord Telchar watches as the final crates are loaded upon his personal steamer. With a sharp whistle blow those of his family board the vessel while those soldiers of the Legion depart it. Nodding at his brother to begin the steams engines Telchar approaches the bird pole and attaches a note to a raven. Releasing it he boards the steamer and watches the raven fly towards the new Dwarven capitol. As the steamer vanishes over the horizon the raven crosses the harsh mountains of Stormspeak and lands at the feet of the King in Kal’Ithrun. It reads:

    "Sire,

As of late you may have noticed my absence. Since the passing of King Thorin and my father a void has been left in my heart. Even greater so when we left our once great city and our Empire crumbled. I no longer feel the enthusiasm to support the nation and thus have spent my days of late wandering the lands aimlessly looking for inspiration.  In doing so I have lacked in my duty as Lord and thus I feel it is best i offer my resignation if you accept it from my position. Furthermore I resign from my position of Admiral as do my kin Rohm and Oisin. I have taken my personal steamer and will live out my remaining days on the island granted to me by King Thorin if you shall allow me to do so. With my respect.

    Telchar Azaghul"

    ((OOC))

Basically like Asulon I have lost the love for this map and will be leaving until the introduction of the next one. Still not going to kill Telchar off as he is one of the few surviving Aegis Dwarves and he still has some stories to live through I am sure. I may log in occasionally but  not enough to be useful to the nation anymore. Cya on the next map!

  5. The mighty ship Yemakers Hammer glides into port. Ice covers the deck and the tattered remains of the flag of Urguan flies at its rear. As the plank slides off a figure huddled in furs and followed by a few men, all wounded in one form or another depart. Telchar had not found the passage he set out for but what he had neither him or his few remaining crew would tell.

((A conclusion to: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/94903-an-expedition/ . I have my internet again! I have to catch up on all the Dwarven changes now!))

    ss_columbia_detroit_01.jpg

  6. Telchar realises he has left his wallet back in Kal'Azgoth. Remembering a battle is going to take place he shrugs and sharpens his axe promising to catch up with his expedition in the morning.

((Might as well have one last bit of memorable rp before I dissapear :P))

  7. *The great ship Yemaker's Hammer breaks the sheets of ice before it. A trail of smoke maps its route behind. On deck many strange inventions are tied down under a tarp and a crowd of engineers squbble over notes nearby. Naval Soldiers patrol the ship as a mighty figure holds the ship steady from its helm. Wrapped in thick furs and wearing frozen goggles the Admiral of the Dwarven Armada Telchar Azaghul pushes the Hammer ever onwards. His journey is one of great danger and hardship but if the rumours are true and a great channel of water lies in the North linking East to West it would be the Dwaves who would rule the waves and lay claim to thier discoveries. He writes a quick note and hands both it and a sketch to a Soldier. Attaching it to the hardiest of chickens it is thrown overboard.*

"I Lord Telchar Azaghul, Admiral of the Dwarven Armarda have taken twenty of the finest Legionares, five Engineers and a crew of 40 Naval workers on an expedition to seek the fabled Northern Channel. Using Yemaker's Hammer along with my experimental drilling machine and a DPC we shall go to the very shores of the North itself to chart its waters and hopefully discover the truth behind these channel rumours. This journey will neither be easy nor swift but it shall be done in the name of the great Dwarven Kingdom. I expect this to take a few years and will remain in contact via chicken until the time I return.

    All Hail King Thorin

    Lord Telchar Azaghul"

((In short I am getting married next week, moving into my new home and then having to wait a further 3 weeks for the internet to be set up. Until then only the forums are open to me. Cya Mid -September :) ))

    *A sketch is attached*

  8. *Telchar stands to give his view* "Lord Nalro is a fine engineer who's work 'as allowed meself to progress to a level where now t'e nations waters be safe from all who be threatn'in it. Unfortunalty I be 'earin' of his profiteering and t'ough I dun t'ink 'e should be removed from 'is position dere shpuld be limitations set on 'im. Make 'im pay some of dis money 'e earns to t'e Kingdom or supply t'e Kingdom wiv weaponry.

Now 'is position as Lord is another matter. Aye I meself aint often seen in t'e 'alls ov Kal'Azgoth but thats due to me role as Naval leader. I am often at sea or on t'e shores ov other nations and my trade network 'as grown ever stronger. T'is constant travel 'as led wiv me contact with various peoples many ov w'ich know the accused Lord but only by 'is works un nae by 'is title. Nalro seems to do little to earn 'is title and even less using the powers i grants 'im. 'E waitn fit t'e 'old the rank ov Lord. In t'at matter I vote nae t'e is removal as 'ead engineer but aye to 'is removal as Lord."

  10. Ballistae, Harpoon, Onager, Greek Fire, Scorpio, and Naval Rams are all good. You may also use burning bolts in the Scorpio or Ballistae, usually aimed at the sails to burn them and leave your opponent dead in the water. And Naval battles tend to be boat against boat. Or boat running parallel to the land and firing. Anti-boat land-based weaponry include Archimedes Claw, Archimedes Mirror, Trebuchet, Catapult, and Ballistae. Please keep in mind that Onagers, Naval Rams, Harpoon, Archimedes Claw and Mirror have not been invented yet.

I think naval rams are pretty common across Anthos. I have seen them a lot as well as having them on all of my ships (though used more as ice breakers). The harpoon is a newer invention that is Dwarf exclusive at the moment (I think).

  11. My ships have ballista on them and a special type of Dwarven harpoon launcher. Catapults, trebuchets, alchemical fire throwers, dispensers and a ton of other stuff can be found on ships across the map.

I'm pretty sure cannons are accepted. But I think mostly only Dwarves know how to build them. Anyway, I'm not very skilled in naval combat, but I wish you the best of luck!

Cannons were removed due to powergaming related issues. The lore for this is that gunpowder does not exist on Anthos.

  12. As a Lord and enforcer of the Kjell Act as well as acting Jarl of Brom'Krah I have taken the decision to remove all residents and homes from Brom'Krah to encourage the Dwarven return to Kal'Azgoth. The following action will be taken:

All citizens are hereby evicted from Brom'Krah

The walls of Brom'Krah will be demolished

The warehouse of Brom'Krah will be converted into a granary

    The Distillery shall be demolished

    The Museum shall be demolished

The Temple shall be rebuilt and the graves moved underneath

The majority of homes shall be removed with the remaining ones converted to farm buildings

The newly freed land shall be converted to farmland

The great Brom'Krah windmill is to be constructed

The fort shall remain for future defense of the Empire

The farms shall be rented out to Empire citizens

Brom'Krah will cease to be a city and all government roles will be liquidated including Jarl. The remaining farmland shall be under direct control of the Crown.

    Signed Lord Telchar Azaghul
