    Minecraft Account Name:

    PumaSneaks

    How old are you?:

    19 years old

    Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

    Central Time/United States of America

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes, I feel that by studying multiple languages (Spanish, English, and German) I have been able to develop a good use of the language, and being a college student, I am very concerned with my grammar.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I a busy college student studying Business Administration - Management Major with minors in Spanish and Information Systems. I am very passionate about my family and love my life.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

I would play just about every day for anywhere from 1 to 4 hours a day.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Role-playing is basically when a person is totally immersed in a game taking on the identity of a character, be it imagined by them, or that of another person's imagination.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

I have been Role-Playing for a long time now. I have played on many different Minecraft Servers and also heavily immersed myself in all of The Elder Scrolls games.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-Gaming is basically when someone uses information that their character would not realistically know unless the user had found it out OOC (out of character). This type of situation can give other players a serious advantage when used in the right way. It is however very unethical for someone to use this type of information to their advantage in-game because their character could not have possibly been aware of the information otherwise.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

Power-Gaming in RPG’s can be when someone role-plays an event which includes another person, forcing that person to go along with the action whether or not they actually wanted to partake in the RP, which results in benefits for the munchkin(powergamer). It can also be when someone uses their time spent in a game to gain an unrealistically high advantage over other players by maximizing their powers or skills that they become almost ‘invincible’ in a way. Both of these are very inappropriate because you don’t want to force others to do things they are not comfortable with, nor do you want to make a gaming experience bad for someone else by playing unfairly.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I have very high expectations for this server. I read through the history and lore of the server and it all sounded amazing! I think that this is finally going to be a server that I can make my home.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Fallout Server: I left because the server never went back up after the piston update.

XeGaming Server: I left after over 17 months of playing on this server because all of the old friends I had made in-game had moved on and felt that perhaps my time had finally come.

Shadowraze: I tried this server out for about 2 weeks but it never really had much appeal to me.

Others: I tried out many other servers but it was never for more than about 2 hours when I would realize that they were not worth my time or effort.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, I read all the rules and they are pretty standard when compared to other server rules.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Yes, that will not be a problem.

How did you hear about us?:

I saw a banner on the Minecraft Forums and thought I would check out your website. The moment I knew this was the place for me was when I saw that you actually have a lore section.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?:

No I have not, however, I would vote for the server if given the opportunity to try out the community. I don't feel it would be right for me to vote for the server despite having never actually played on it.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character:

    Character Name:

    Raphael Riveck

    What Race are you?:

    Elf

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

    Wood Elf

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Raphael grew up in the plains. His parents worked as traveling merchants between four different cities in Aegis. The lived in the Traveling Merchants camp but were hardly there, like most other families. When he was only 8 years old Raphael was separated from his family. He was found walking the roads towards the next village where he was found by a human family. They took him in, but with great consequences. The family was forced to leave the village and move into the forest, alone. From a young age Raphael learned how to survive in the wilderness with only the bare minimum.

He learned to track the movements of bandit groups in order to keep the family safe, however Raphael’s main job was to provide firewood and lumber for the family to maintain themselves. He would spend hours in the forest just chopping down trees and finding the best way to harvest all the types of trees. He learned from a young age that only with time will a person find their true calling, and for him it was woodcutting.

Raphael’s new family loved him, but it caused him to be very separated from his own people. He made a decision and moved into the elven city of Laurelin when he was 26 years old to study the forest, but decided to go back out on the road and experience a more adventurous life. Since then Raphael has been searching for somewhere he can find a new life, a new family once again.

He first found his home alone in the forests of The Wilds, but living alone was not something he was suited for. He wasn’t ready to return to the city so he found a new home among the bandits of the forests outside of Al'khazar. He first started writing when lived in the camp since there was an absence of intelligent company; he isn’t particularly skilled but it is his hobby. He became the farmer for the camp and made sure everyone was fed at all times. Raphael left the camp to seek a more honorable path. He has been a travelling worker now from quite some time.

After the Destruction of Aegis he had to flee with the others to Asulon. Raphael has been on his journey for many years and now at the age of 97, he is beginning to think that he may be wandering the world forever.

    What is your Character's ambitions?:

Raphael simply wants to find a new family, friends, and make a life for himself. Where that journey will take him he does not know, but he won’t give because Asulon is his new hope for a better life and a fresh start. He hopes to become a tree farmer and a poet if he were to resume his studies.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

    Iron Axe

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Harvesting wood and building natural homes. He is not a skilled warrior but is not afraid to defend himself if it is necessary. He loves writing poetry and often will put up short poems on the walls of his home.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

    RaphaelRiveck.png

    Other Information about your Character:

Raphael conceals his elven ears so that humans will be more accepting of him. For that reason, he wears a hood to hide his ears and golden elven eyes.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

I first asked the two men if they happened to have six fingers on their right hands. I then proceeded to inform them that any bandit with a good conscience and a bright mind would know that a halfling has nothing to offer them. They rarely carry money and are not exactly the greatest choice of meat to throw on a fire. “Here, take this bread and eat, enjoy yourselves for I would not have two men go hungry, even men as foul as you.”

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

I asked the man if he had any information about thief activity in the city, explaining that I have been on the tail of a man who has been stealing local items and selling them back as “replacements.” “What a devilish man” I said. “Oh that reminds me, you don’t happen to have any iron do you? I have been on the road for weeks and my supply is running a little low.”

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Raphael actually come across huts like these before. Abandoned. Ransacked. They are empty enough sure, but what most don’t realize is that some of these huts are used by bandits to lure in scared wanderers, a tactic that Raphael became aware of in his time spent with a group of bandits in Aegis. “I don’t doubt that they would try similar tactics here in Asulon” he thought aloud. Nonetheless he took the supplies. They had obviously been either left behind or forgotten. Either way the owner has no need of them now, and the golden sword is be intimidating enough to keep me out of a fight.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Tired, hungry, and dirty, Raphael said to the merchants, “Dear fellows I would love a nice steak and some ale. Could you, perhaps, oblige me in exchange for some of my wood?” Raphael knew he was good with words, but on this occasion he must not fail. He hadn’t eaten for days.

“Of course,” replied the merchant, “take all you need, one log per loaf will do.”

“Thank you sirs, I shall not forget this, I assure you.” And that was all. Raphael continued off into the forest not knowing where he might end up.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offers their support. How does your character act on this information?:

I ran around town, rounding up any able bodied man I could find to rid the city of the bandit presence. I charged out of town with the guards; however, instead of accompanying the group in killing the bandits I slipped back into the forest and waited for the battle to end. After all it would have been mindless to risk my own life in a battle against a bandit camp when I can hardly fight a few skeletons. After the fighting was over I slipped back in amongst the men and celebrated ‘our’ great victory in the town, and received all of the spoils of the battle, and all of the ale and women at the celebration. Ah, I cannot think of a better way to leave a town then with a party of freedom and justice.

“Alone in the night, those bandits did sleep, and now for all time, they won’t make a peep.” I sang silently to myself. Even a farmer feels glorious in the wake of battle.

Raphael has been on his journey for many years and now at the age of 33, he is beginning to think that he may be wandering the world forever.

    What is your Character's ambitions?:

Raphael simply wants to find a new family, friends, and make a life for himself. Where that journey will take him he does not know, but he won’t give because Asulon is his new hope for a better life and a fresh start.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

    Iron Axe

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

Harvesting wood and building natural homes. He also enjoys potion-making, but battle is not one of his talents. He is a pretty good shot with a bow thanks to his stay with the bandits, not to mention his experience with alchemy.

I would first ask the two men if they happen to have six fingers on their right hands. I would then proceed to inform them that any bandit with a good conscious and a bright mind would know that a halfling has nothing to offer them. They rarely carry money and are not exactly the greatest choice of meat to throw on a fire. I would encourage them that surely they could find more change in my pockets. The moment they turned I would pull out my bow and release an arrow into the first man’s skull, drawing another and pointing it directly in the eyes of the other. At that moment I would say to the man, “Tell me sir, have you ever gone hunting? Because I promise you have never gone hunting like this. Now run, and I will do the chasing!”

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

I would ask the man if he had any information about thief activity in the city, explaining that I had been on the tail of a man who had been stealing local items and selling them back as “replacements.” “What a devilish man” I would say.

Raphael has actually come across huts like these before. Abandoned. Ransacked. They are empty enough sure, but what you don’t realize is that some of these huts are used by bandits to lure in scared wanderers, a tactic that Raphael became aware of in his time spent with a group of bandits in Aegis. “Id don’t doubt that they would try similar tactics here in Asulon” he would think. Nonetheless he would take the supplies. They had obviously been either left behind or forgotten. Either way the owner has no need of them now.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

I would offer myself as a shop-hand in exchange for food. I would tell them about my roots in the Travelling Merchants Camp and that I have experience with buying/selling and bartering for good deals on items. I would also offer to guard their caravans for any future sales journeys. My experience with bandits has made me aware of their tactics, and conscious of their traps.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offers their support. How does your character act on this information?:

I would run around town, rounding up any able bodied man I could find to rid the city of the bandit presence. I would charge out of town with the guards; however, instead of accompanying the group in killing the bandits I would slip back into the forest and wait for the battle to end. After all it would be mindless to risk my own life in a battle against a bandit camp. After the fighting was over I would slip back in amongst the men and celebrate ‘our’ great victory in the town, receiving all of the spoils of the battle, and all of the ale and women at the celebration. Besides, what better way to leave a town then with a party of freedom, justice, and vengeance.

Power-Gaming in RPG’s is basically when someone role-plays an event which includes another person, forcing that person to go along with the action whether or not they actually wanted to partake in the RP. It can also be when someone uses their time spent in a game to gain an unrealistically high advantage over other players by maximizing their powers or skills in such a way that they become almost ‘invincible’ in a way.

When he was only 7 years old Raphael was separated from his family.

He learned from a young age that only with time will a person find their true calling. Raphael’s new family loved him, and it caused him to be very separated from his own people. He made a decision and moved into the elven city of Elandriel when he was twenty years old to study the forest, but was quickly exiled for not maintaining the elven culture. He looked like a typical elf: gaunt face, bright golden eyes, long blonde hair, but he did not behave like able elf, nor did he want to.

Since then Raphael has been searching for a new home, somewhere he can find a new life, a new family once again. He first found his home alone in the forests of The Wilds but found that living alone was not something he was suited for. He wasn’t ready to return to the city so he found a new home among the bandits of the forests outside of Solace. He learned many new skills including a newfound appreciation for archery and potions. He became the alchemist for the camp and worked gathering ingredients and preparing potions. Raphael left the camp to seek a more honorable path. He has been a travelling worker now for quite some time. After the Destruction of Aegis he had to flee with the others to Asulon. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is, to my understanding, when a person seeks external knowledge about a game from a source outside of the game itself. I would assume this question is being asked to ensure that people understand they need to use the forums to be able to keep their in-game knowledge updated. If that is true I will have no problem doing that as I was a server administrator on another popular server (I left to find an RP Server).

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is basically when someone uses an unfair advantage in a game which is derived from faults in the design of the game itself. Again, I'm assuming there is a reason that this question is being asked as well. I assure you that I have no intention of cheating in any way.

This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Raphael grew up in the plains. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I would encourage the two men to leave the boy alone or they would find that a more formidable enemy would surely come their way.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I wouldn’t go flaunting those stolen items so openly if I were you…

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I would leave, knowing full well that it either belongs to someone, or is an ambush. Either way, taking something which is so obviously left behind would be unwise, or unkind.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I hate to bother you all, but is there anything I could do around here to earn some food.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I would quickly run around town and gather all the men I could to assist the guards in the effort to free the town of the bandit presence, however when the time came, I would find myself slipping into the forest away from battle, only arriving back to reap the benefits.
