  1. *Eriston picks up the flier inquisitively.*

"A serial killer? Not often you hear of these sorts of things"

*He looks disgusted as he thinks of the crimes that have been committed for such a large bounty to be put on one person.*

"Of normal circumstances I would help find such a killer, but I have other businesses to attend to"

*Eriston turns away from the notice, and walks away as he thinks about the crimes as the rain pours down onto him.*

  2. *Eriston walks up to the flyer, and pins a reply beneath it*

"Greetings Daedir. I'm interested in purchasing some of your diamonds that you have for sale. Please send me a bird so we can discuss more into the purchase send it to me, Eriston.

    Regards,

    Eriston" ((Robertodude))

  3. You mean would I selfishly request that people who have cherished and refined a High Elf character for months drastically change them because me and my team have created new lore for the race? I would if I could. I know, however, I can't ask this of people. It isn't fair.

It leaves us in a tricky situation, though. Because I will request that players who want to start a High Elf stick to the lore. This lore will almost require them to live in Haelun'or, as proper behavior will leave you with very little friends in the mainland. Now, Haelun'or was getting a bit overcrowded so I was looking to prune the citizens here and there a bit as it was stressing me out too much (and also, some of the team requested more discipline in the city.) However, due to this and a combination of other reasons I am fearing a serious lore breach.

Old school High Elves are, 99% of the time, fueled with 'western' ideals of acceptance like the player is, which means they'd love nothing more than to find a fellow New High Elves and tempt them to liberalism before they learn about us. In RP, this is understandable, but to a keeper of lore this is a big thorn in my side; it magnifies an issue that we have been unable to patch.

Malinor RPly wants the same, of course: The boat from CT to the Elf Island stands right next to Normandor and leaves out the mention of any kind of High Elven city to new players. Again, this makes complete sense IC.

Now, on one side this is a good thing, as we don't really WANT people who pick races before they read lore: Haelun'or tries to cultivate quality beyond the average. Should, however, at any point large concentrations of Mali'aheral start existing in Normandor, lore is broken and nigh beyond repair. Which is why I ask people to /subrace to something else if they aren't up to the challenge of being High Elf.

With regards to the /subrace, I've been trying to use this command for a while now to set my race as High Elf, and all that I am returned with is error messages saying that it is an unknown command. Has it been removed or is it just that I need to know the correct format to it.

Also I really do agree with the points you're making about the roleplay being broken.

  4. HAELUN'OR CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION:

Name: Eriston Seregon ((My name IG is just Eriston though))

    Truename ((MCName)): Robertodude

    Origin:

How can you declare you are Mali'thill: Both of my parents where Mali’thill, I also have pale skin, green eyes and blonde hair.

Why do you wish to become a citizen of Haelun'or: I wish to be a citizen of Haelun’or as it looks beautiful, and I want to stay with my fellow Mali’thill and I want to help the advancement ourselves. This city is the best place for a Mali’thill and just being in the presence of other Mali’thill for so long makes my life feel once again complete.

What is your personal vision for our blessed race: My personal vision is to see us respected by all other races, and make the Uruk see what a true race is, ma’leyu ehya vakal. I know we are already superior, but I know that not everyone thinks of us that way and that definitely needs to change and I know it will happen. Also in vision us being pure for the rest of eternity preserving our qualities as a superior race.

What does maehr'sae hiylun'ehya mean to you: What it means to me is the guiding path for my existence it comes into every situation I find myself in and it shows me where to go. I have used this saying in very tough situations and it has always shown me the correct way to go about solving it.

What Elven phrase do you particularly take to heart? Please explain why: Akal’tayna

It means Valuable life, I take it to heart as when I see death it makes me feel that life is precious, and when I left my home my mother whispered this into my ear before I left them. It gave me the confidence to move on with my life and find more Mali’thill to whom I can excel with and make life a much more prosperous feeling.

What is the subject of the first book you will submit to the college: The subject of the book will be on the nature of the oceans that surround Haelun’or. As I find this a very interesting topic that I am sure other Mali’thill will want to read.

What would be your reaction if you ever saw a human, orc and unknown Mali'aheral travel the roads from Alras together: I would be disgusted at the fact that s Mali’aheral would even think about coming close to an Uruk without the intention of killing it. The humans are nowhere near as impure as the Uruk but they still should not be together travelling as this would breach Mali’aheral values and honour. I would tell the Mali’aheral that they did no longer belong to our wonderful race and that they should had never been given the status of Mali’aheral.

What home would you like to receive: (if left blank you will be granted one of the free residences, if one is availible).

Are there any other details about yourself you wish to relay to the council: I took a long journey to get to Haelun’or and any home would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Out-Of-Character

    Minecraft Account Name: Robertodude

How old are you?: I am currently 16, but I will be 17 in July! Looking forward to it, I can learn how to drive.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT / United Kingdom

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I have a great grip of English because I'm English.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a kind hearted person when I feel like it, although I have quite a short temper so if I get killed in PvP I'd probably leave for a couple of hours to calm down. Although I do have a love for RP which I've gained in the past year or so, leading me to right this app.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I could quite easily dedicate around 36 hours a week.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is taking on the persona of a character which is not you, usually this is for the players enjoyment to play something out of the ordinary. What it means to me is very similar to the definition. I do enjoy being a character which isn't me because I find it quite relaxing.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have played on so many Roleplay servers in Minecraft and none of them have hit it right yet due to many factors such as lack of players, or just full of bad roleplayers. I also really enjoyed the NGG San Andres Multiplayer Server it was pretty fun getting into gang fights then mowing down enemy gangs with my MP5.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is where you use out of character information to your own advantage within the game, so for instance if you read up about a battle taking place somewhere and you go there as you know it's happening that's meta-gaming. Or if someone told you that they were going to kill someone OOC and then you went and told the target IC that they were going to be killed it is meta-gaming. It can also be described as within role-play as your character knowing information they do not know, like a character's name. But meta-gaming isn't always bad it can also be good, like reading into the lore of a game using out of game information is meta-gaming but it does no harm to anyone.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-gaming is where you force another character to do an action in role-play or make them accept an RP instance. For instance when I played in the NGG Samp RP server, this happened Police:*puts handcuffs on criminal*. This would be powergaming due to the fact they did not give the player/criminal the change to resist the arrest in RP terms, such as breaking free of the polices grip. Another example of powergaming is once that I witnessed in my own Roleplay server, Robber: "This is a holdup, put your handsup!" Brian: *picks up robber, throws him across the room, snaps robber's neck*. This was a funny example of powergaming but still powergaming and breaking the rules, (I sure hope things like that don't happen here).

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to not be too disimilar from an MMORPG but with more of an emphasis on the roleplay, as MMO's don't force you to role-play this one does.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Kingdom of Adraukor, From Ashes, Aftermath, Fallout: War Never Changes, Starwars: The Lost Chapters, Eeekville, mau5ville. I left them because there were not enough players or the role-play was awful.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Of course I have, and I totally agree with them keeping in character I think is one of the most important one, I don't want people ruining my immersion.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Of course I do agree to the rules, Minecraft, Forums and Teamspeak.

How did you hear about us?: I'm friends with an Admin (I do not plan to use this as an advantage). Also some of my friends play on this server and from what it sounds this is going to be pretty cool.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I have not previously made an application to this server before.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-%E2%96%91%E2%96%92%E2%96%93-the-lord-of-the-craft-%E2%96%93%E2%96%92%E2%96%91-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): No, I have not.

    In-Character:

    Character Name: Eriston

    What Race are you?: Elf

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): None

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

    Eriston is aged 22

He is 5ft 11" and has blonde hair and has his green eyes and blonde hair from his mother, his height of course came from his father, he has burn injuries on his arms from the fire in his farm, which covers all of his left arm but only up to his elbow on his right.

Eriston is scared of Spiders, and has self-conscious issues due to bullying while he was a child. He is very kind to others and will go out of his way to help them as long as they are kind to him, and it doesn't put him in mortal danger.

Eriston was born in the outskirts of the city of Elandriel and lived with a middle class family with his father Methon and his mother Rhovanor. He was brought up with love for nature and a passion for farming while he was young between the ages of 7 - 14 he was mocked for having a larger nose than the other Elves and it has effected his confidence throughout the rest of his life, at the age of 18 Eriston became very interested in making a profit in the business of farming, he'd noticed a neighbouring Elven family farming had been making a lot more money than his own family, and he was out to do something about it. He drew up the plans of the family to business to undercut his neighbours business, his plan to undercut their prices worked and 2 years later the neighbours couldn't pay their rent and were forced out of their house.

About a year later one of the neighbours returned to Eriston’s home, he said “Look what you’ve done! Look what you’ve done to me and my family” the man then ran off into the farm and set it ablaze, Eriston and his family tried to save some of the workers in the bard, but Eriston could not enter he'd always wanted to be brave, but he couldn't the sight of the burning barn terrified him. The fire destroyed almost all of the crops, and burned some of the farm workers and Eriston's cat, Amiendel. This shook Eriston a lot and made him rethink what he wanted to do with his life, but his passion for farming was still there. He wanted to move out in the country to start a new life away from the memories of the deaths and the hatred he had caused for his want for money. His parents begged him to stay but he wouldn't he was so upset and angry about the entire incident, but he didn't listen to them, he took his belongings and he ran, ran into the woods as far from his old life as possible so he could start his new life. He headed towards Elandriel, he'd heard all of the magnificent tales of the city and he'd always wanted to travel there.

What is your Character's ambitions?: To make money by selling farm goods that he produces, it’s his dream to form a business selling goods to the rest of Asulon. He also wants to become better at self-defence so he would not get attacked or mugged as easily.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Well being a farmer of course his favourite tool is going to be the hoe! He was given this tool by his father, Methon before he left, it had been handed down throughout the generations of Eriston’s family.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? And again, Eriston’s most skilled talent is going to be farming he loves to be in touch with nature and helping it a long it’s way. He also has a very acute sense of hearing so he can hear things from a much longer distance than the average Elf.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

    Robertodude-Elf-Skin.png

Other Information about your Character: As well as being a farmer Eriston wants to learn how to defend himself after the events of his farm being burned. This means this will not happen to him again. He also has a very strong feeling for justice, but can go over the top with his need for prosecution, sometimes over-reacting so much to the point where he breaks the law.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Eriston would go and make sure that the halfling is okay, but would keep his personal safety in priority as he's not an amazing warrior, if anything were to scare Eriston he would runaway from the danger so he doesn't get harmed.

Eriston:”Hey! What’s going on over there?” *Eriston makes himself look tougher than usual, by staring directly at the warriors* Warrior1: “What do you care? Elf. *draws sword and stares back at Eriston* Eriston: I guess... I’ll just leave you young men alone... *Eriston turns slowly and sprints away*

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Eriston would be interested in seeing what the stall owner has to offer and would ask him if he had any special deals that the stall owner could offer him, but of course he would do this discretely so no-one knows about it.

Here's how it would play out!

I would respond “Why hello kind sir, what deals would you be able to offer me in this amazing city?” *As Eriston leans into the stall* “I hope you’ll be able to offer me some good deals, if you know what I mean?” Stall trader: “I do indeed have some deals that I can offer you at a bargain price but there may be some consequences” *Looks around for anyone listening*

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Eriston would enter the shack, but would be terrified of the thought of going in there. He would take the items as quickly as possible and run away from the shack as fast as he possibly could to avoid getting into trouble with any guards or the owner of the shack.

Here's how it would play out.

“Well this looks unusual, would you look at that? It’s some iron I could easily take!” *Eriston creeps into the hut, and quickly grabs the sword and the iron bars and sprints out of the hut* *a spider then jumps down from the roof of the hut* *Eriston turns a draws his brand new sword, it glints in the sunlight* Eriston: “Lets test this thing out” *the spider charges at Eriston, he swipes with his sword cutting off one of the spiders limbs. The spider lets out a horrific screech as Eriston raises his sword and drives it into the head of the spider*

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

He would look around the camp to see if there is anything that he could buy off of the traders, if he could trade with them he would want to buy food and maybe a place to stay in their camp for safety as he does not want to be attacked by the creatures of the night.

Here's how I think it would play out!

Eriston: “Why hello sirs! What goods may you sell me here? I’m in need of some food I’ve come very low in the past couple of days. Would you be able to help me in this matter?” Trader: “How did you find us around here? I thought we were hidden!” Eriston: “Oh, am I not meant to be here? I was looking for somewhere to stay for the night. Would you be able to help me?” Trader: “I’m not sure, I’d have to ask the others.” *Trader turns and walks into the camp* Eriston: “Okay, I hope everything is alright I want to be able to rest up and maybe purchase a few items of you men.”

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Eriston would not stand for any law breaking offences, and would aid the guards in their struggle to maintain law and order. He would offer his assistance to the guards and he would take the reward but only after the deed is done. He would then help the guards and would kill the bandits need be, but clean his sword after as the blood of the broken, is the blood of the weak.

Here’s how it would play out.

Eriston: “Excuse me guards, I heard you were looking for assistance?” *Eriston points towards the road* Town Guard: “Yes we are looking for help, we’re also offering a reward.” *guard picks bag of gold out of his pocket and shakes it* “Would you be interested in helping us?” Eriston: “Of course I would! We shall talk about the reward after the job is done!” Town Guard: Very well then. Let’s go get these bandits. *Town guards start walking down the road* “Are you coming then?” Eriston: “Very well, let’s do this” *Eriston draws his sword, and lowers it to his right hand, then follows the guard out of town and along the road*

I hope you had a nice time reading my app, if it's not good enough any feedback is appreciated.
