  1. [!] A handwritten scrap of parchment is pinned to the corner of the notice board in each major town. [!]

    To those with the means,

I am a humble individual of low-birth with great ambition and resolve. I seek charter for rural land on which I may cultivate crops, and raise livestock for the betterment of the fellow man. With hopes of providing jobs, and building a strong foundation of agricultural economy I need but a cut of land, be it remote or uninhabited. With little to offer up front for such an arrangement, I aim to repay any would-be benefactors with produce and animal products, or a percentage yield of the profit of the land.

For further negotiation, leave as reply below and I will be in contact.

Most groups that go for this sorta thing do it poorly. If you were really true to this, then it could possibly go well.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm well aware of this. My primary concern with the idea was the large amount of groups who had done it and failed, I figured I would either do it right or not at all, and currently I haven't got enough interest for a dedicated playerbase so I think it is unlikely that this will get off the ground.

Know no glory; know no fear.

OOC Note: This is an interest check to gather opinions on a guild idea I had. Everything here is a rough draft, and by no means a finished concept. While I’m aware there are many holy orders that have similar goals, and other guilds with IC objectives, I wanted to get a feel for the public opinion on a guild with these core IC and OOC beliefs. As well as see if this type of roleplay would interest anyone or any other groups, spook oriented or otherwise that are looking for interactions and possibly storylines. Please either message me on the forums or leave a reply with any feedback, suggestions, concerns, or otherwise.

    Summary

The Ebonguard is a brotherhood of mortals who value the sanctity of life and the natural cycle. In a realm full of impure beings, Undead, Frost Witches, Liches, Izkuthii, there is a need for purity. The Ebonguard’s purpose is to protect the lives and purity of the Descendants of the four fathers. Krug, Urguan, Horen, and Malin. It is their core belief that anything that alters a Descendant to either give them unnatural abilities beyond voidal magic, or immortality, is to be eradicated. This being said, this is not their only duty. They live to serve the realm as a whole, as well as mortal life. Be it a group of bandits causing terror, or a new global threat on the horizon, they will rise to the occasion and if need be give their lives to defeat their enemies.

They do not fight for honor or glory, nor for wealth or titles. They expect no thanks, nor compensation. They serve no gods or deities, nor themselves. When called upon, they will come.

    Core OOC Principles

    - Promote enjoyable and interesting roleplay

    - Avoid metagaming and powergaming at all costs, even if enemies do not share the same common decency.

    - Being OOCly friendly with IC enemies.

    - Keeping IC & OOC separate.

    - OOCly coordinating events and storylines with other guilds and groups, enemies and allies alike.

    - Expect defeat more often than victory, the fun of others matters.

    - Heavy Military/Brotherhood oriented RP.

    - Operating on an honor system. Even if others do not act fairly, we shall. We will not try to pressure PK’s under any circumstance.

    Core IC Principles
    - Safeguard mortal life when the opportunity arises.
    - Maintain purity of the Descendants and the natural cycle of life.
    - Duty over honor.

    Vows
These vows are a part of the Ebonguard’s oath, and are rules for all members to abide by.

The oath hasn't been written yet, this is merely the points I wanted in it.

    - Duty above all else, life for the realm.
    - Own no titles; own no lands.
    - Forsake all family ties, the Ebonguard is family.
    - The oath is for life, unless discharged.
    - Take no wife or husband. (Special permission may be granted.)
    - Father no children. (Special permission may be granted.)

    Note to Guild Leaders

    Spoiler

There is no denying that in the current state of our community OOC conflict between allies and enemies is common over IC matters. I believe in part this is due to a lack of communication. As a result, I encourage all guild leaders, enemy or ally, to reach out to me if you are interested in organizing an event or perhaps a storyline, conflict or cooperation, between our groups for our players. Organizing losses/wins OOCly beforehand in RP battles could greatly reduce OOC conflict between members, as is prevalent in our community, though it is by no means required. I would be glad to organize storylines or events with you, be they conflict oriented or otherwise.

    Recruitment
Recruitment for the Ebonguard has two parts, IC and OOC.

    -OOC-
The Ebonguard is a group for mature and like-minded roleplayers, as such we screen for people prone to OOC conflict with other players, and people who are accustomed to meta-gaming and power-gaming. Please mention the word 'Goat' in your reply if you actually read the whole thing, it's easier for me to see feedback that way. I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.

We welcome mature and seasoned role-players. However if you don’t think yourself a great roleplayer, but more serious RP interests you, we welcome those who seek to improve their roleplay skills.

    -IC-
While some people are excellent individuals and friends OOC, we still keep IC and OOC separate. All recruitment is handled in RP,  generally this will occur over an extended period of time so we can get a good feel of you and your character and make sure you are a good fit for the group.

    Organization
The organization of the order is structured to change based on the Orders numbers. There are two statuses the order will fall under.
Force Understrength - When the order lacks able-bodied members, and falls below a count of ten active members, the force is considered at an understrength. They may be required to operate in secret and utilize guerrilla tactics.
Full Strength - When the order exceeds ten active members, it will be at full strength and may be capable of acting more openly as other orders.

I think the main reason the majority of people that said 'No', is because they don't want to lose.

They think winning is the only fun option, and that's what needs changing, not the villians.

Granted, there are, and will always be bad villian RPers, as there will always be good villian RPers.

As someone who wasn't there when we had villian applications, I cannot really comment on the matter, though a month trial couldn't hurt.

Just responding to you specifically, personally I voted no, and it isn't because I don't like losing to villains. I generally take an "L" in that regard since I know villains generally lose in LotC. But as it stands general bandit activities now involve little roleplay, and generally create very little roleplay. In comparison to Anthos when we had VA's and RP Default (And I'm not saying those were necessarily good things) I found being a victim was much more entertaining and lead to some interesting RP once in a while in comparison to on Axios.

  6. A man in a long blueish colored coat strolls into a tavern, closing the door behind him to shut out the cold before pulling his scarf down from his face. He takes a seat near the fire and pulling a worn pipe from his coat, stuffing a small pinch of herbs into it as he strikes up a match and goes to light it. As he glances up through the faint haze of smoke, he spots a small parchment pinned above the fire place. He pulls it from the wall and leans back, kicking his feet out in front of him, crossed at the ankles. He takes a few slow puffs from his pipe as he skims over the parchment, he lets out a faint chuckle and mutters,

"Real men speak because they've got something important to say, children squeal and cry so they are heard."

He then crumbles up the paper and tosses it into the flames, puffing on the pipe a few moments longer before clasping his hand over to top to snuff out the flame, tucking it back into his coat before he turns to head back out into the cold and lonesome night to continue his work.

  8. Hello LotC, I'm having an issue when it comes to the voting system. The combo is supposed to go 10+20+30 and so on, Then all are fifty the next day. The issue I'm having is that one of the sites, (I can't name which one until tomorrow) tends to not give me my rewards for that day and resets my combo. I think it does work every once and a while. But for the most part it doesn't. (Yes, I type my MCname correctly, I double checked it.)

Let me know if you can help. Thanks.

  9. It seems that LOTC has very little trust in the community in general, each person assuming everyone else will abuse it. I seriously doubt it'd be abused,

I'd usually agree with this but since applications got easier I've notice an increase in the amount of players that like to abuse their freedoms.

EDIT: Maybe remove some of the evils, but none of the major ones... I don't feel comfortable with removing the VA's entirely, seeing as the staff hardly punishes those who break the VA rules. VA's are made to help provide entertaining roleplay. Look at the player report section, poorly used VA's in which the staff have done little or nothing about.

  10. My personal opinion, VA's are very neccessary. They are made to keep the most of the greedy players, that only make the RP enjoyable for themselves away from evil. If you want an evil character, make a VA It's really not hard to get accepted. At all. If you can't get accepted, well maybe you should improve on your RP a bit before trying to play a villain. Just because a few players are unhappy because they can't get a VA, doesn't mean we should remove the system.

Why do you want to join? (IC Answer Please!): "I wish to join the Frozen Night because I seek revenge on the many who have wronged me, I wish to join this organization in hopes to be respected, to mean something in Anthos. To be feared, not to fear others. To have allies that will not betray me at the first opportunity."

  12. A woman wrapped in her dark grey robe reads over the poster, a bit of her crimson hair blowing out from the  front of her hood, she rubs her chin before removing a piece of charcoal and a paper.

"I will pay 800 Minas for her, send me a bird. -Poet"

This handwriting would seem nothing like Vex's.

  13. *Vex walks past the sign, back tracking as she sees it, she stops to read.

She then pulls a paper from her satchel, looking at a sketch in it, than to the emblem on the poster.*

""How strange... This seems to be them."

*She than scribles down a few things on her paper and walks off.*
