  1. Out-Of-Character

    Minecraft Account Name: Kezaraux

How old are you?: I am 14.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Eastern Standard Time. Ontario, Canada.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm generally a nice guy. I only get mad or angry when people are doing idiotic things to bother other people on purpose. Also, I am a partial grammar Nazi. I'm really loyal to my friends and I enjoy meeting new people and having a good time.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Well, daily I can put in 1-2 hours. So, weekly I could put in about 7-14 hours. Though some days/weeks it might be more or less depending.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Role-Playing is when you take on a character that isn't yourself. You feel what he (or she) would feel. You think what he thinks, and so on. You are given the opportunity to try out a role you yourself have never done before. You’re like the greatest actor but without being an actor.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I've Role-Played on two RP servers. The first and longest being the Lands of Aswein. The second is Age of Mines.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-Gaming is when you use Out of Content information In Content with your character. For example: My friend tells me of his stash of cookies over the phone. I log on and walk to his house and eat some of his cookies after finding the stash.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-Gaming is when you RP in a way that others cannot properly respond to. For Example: I slash [insert some name here] fatally across the chest. That doesn’t give old insert name here a chance at all and it is “illegal” in role-play.

What do you expect this server will be like?: To be honest I expect this server to be a well run server with lots of Role-Play happening everywhere and of good quality.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: One server that I played on was the Lands of Aswein. The reason I left that server is because it died due to player loss. The second server I played on was Age of Mines. I left that server because my friend kept botching things up and then got banned from it. He had my items wiped and I didn't have the heart to go on.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have read and understood the rules and I agree to follow them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes I promise to follow the rules and laws.

How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?: I heard about this server from a forum post from my old RP server forums.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/55195-kezarauxs-second-application/page__p__427009#entry427009

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character:

    Character Name: Arlin

    What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Sub-Race?

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Arlin was born to his family in a small mining town on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Salvus. His father was a simple miner and his mother a maid. When Arlin was the age of 9 his father took him down into the mines to begin learning the ropes for his future job of providing ores and minerals for the Kingdom. Arlin took easily to the work of swinging a pick, he made his father proud. When he was 13, working in the mines; he was almost killed by a cave in. After that near death experience he thought that he needs to see more of the world before he died. So a year later after getting all the necessary gear and supplies together; he set off to explore the lands.

One day Arlin was out mining for a village that he was working for to earn some extra money. While he was down in the mines he dug right into a cave! Not knowing what may be inside it he called to some of the villagers to assist him in exploring the cave. Walking through that stony cavern seemed ominous, and foreboding. Arlin split off from the group to go pursue a sparkle he saw in the cavern depths. The sparkle seemed to call him closer, past a pool of lava, past a snaking stream of water until finally he found it! A small vein of some diamonds! What luck Arlin thought to himself as he struck at the diamonds. After he excavated them he looked up, noticing that the wall in front of him was cobblestone and not the normal stone that was surrounding him. Feeling bold Arlin struck the cobblestone tearing it away. What was inside amazed him! A room with two chests and a block of fire! Opening the chests, to his dismay Arlin found nothing inside them. When he turned around he was faced with a skeleton! Behind the skeleton loomed a zombie! Arlin screamed then lashed out with his pick while running past the undead to the hole in the wall to get out. Still screaming and whacking blindly Arlin made it out of the room and back into the cave. Looking behind him Arlin checks if the undead were following him, and running blindly he smacked his head into some low hanging stone and blacked out. When he came to he was in his rented room with a villager standing over him. Arlin asked if the undead attacked any of them. The villager looked puzzled and told Arlin that he was probably hallucinating and that there was no undead. Uncertain Arlin went back to sleep, only to be troubled by nightmares.

During his travels Arlin would sometimes need more food or some new clothes but he didn't have the money. So taking some time he would settle here and there using his mining skills to gather some minerals to trade for the supplies he needed to continue his journey. The work and travel has hardened his body, so Arlin has a lean, tall figure with brown hair and blue eyes. Quite a few years later Arlin returned to his village after his travels to see his family, but what he saw only saddened him. It seems that over the years the village was abandoned and cast into ruins. Stopping for the night in his old room, he falls asleep and is troubled by the nightmares from the cave for the first time in over two years. Waking troubled Arlin now thinks that these images feed off of his sadness and sorrow. Leaving all that he use to know behind he sets for to strike anew.

What is your Character's ambitions?: Arlin's ambitions are to one day have a place that he can call home. Also he might eventually want to have a family, though he doesn't see that happening for many more years. He hopes to become the head of a successful mining business.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Arlin's favourite tool would have to be a pickaxe. He can mine fairly well and it feels right at home in his hand.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Arlin's most skilled talent is that of wielding a pickaxe.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): http://i.imgur.com/YzuGN.png

Other Information about your Character: Arlin only knows how to read and write his own name. Other than that, he can't read or write.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? ((I’m assuming the Halfling is a guy, for the sake of my app))

As Arlin was walking up the road he rounds the corner and sees this Halfling being harassed by two warriors. Without thinking Arlin shouts “Hey! Leave him alone you brutes!” The two men turn around and look at Arlin. “What are you going to do about it?” the one on the left asks. “I’ll fight you!” Arlin retorts hefting his Pickaxe at the same time. “Come on man, lets just go” the warrior on the right says. “Fine, I was done anyways…” replies the warrior on the left. Arlin watches as the warriors turn and leave like the bullies they are. Adrenaline is still rushing through Arlin’s veins from asserting himself to those thugs when he reaches the Halfling and helps him up. Making sure the Halfling is okay, Arlin continues on down the path.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? “Well, right now I’m just looking thanks.” Arlin responds. Looking over the wares Arlin notices the most beautiful pickaxe he has ever seen. The handle seemed to be carved out of a dark, rich wood with some swirling patterns crossing it. The metal top was pure steel and looked as if it could take quite a beating. Arlin was supposed to buy some new shoes, but when he saw that pickaxe lust overcame him and he demanded to know how much the pickaxe was. When he heard the price Arlin was crestfallen, but then he haggled with the merchant. Finally, after trading a diamond, some gold, and some minas’ he got his wondrous pickaxe.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Approaching the ruined hut Arlin looks around. “Hello? Is anyone there?” Arlin calls. Arlin waits for a reply, but none is forthcoming. Seeing as no one is there Arlin walks into the small hut. Looking around to the best of his abilities in the dark hut, Arlin notices a chest at the back of the hut. Approaching the chest Arlin lifts the lid and mutters “God’s wounds…” in awe when he saw the amount of iron in the chest. “This is enough iron to keep me fed for a month!” Arlin says to himself. Setting down his pack he puts the ingots into it. Turning around to leave the hut Arlin notices a sword hung on the wall beside the doorway. Taking the sword incase he would ever need one he slides it into his belt. Leaving the hut Arlin continues on his way whistling a merry tune despite the greater weight on his back and hip.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

“Hello there, good fellows” Arlin says. “Do you have any food and drink to spare for a wary traveler?” “Yes we do, come and join us” says one of the men. “Thanks, I’ve been lost for days out there, and I ran out of food a day ago” Arlin says. “Well good thing you found us boy!” another one of the men say. “Indeed” Arlin replies. Arlin the sits down with the traders and they hand him some food. “Eat up now” says the man that handed him the food. Arlin tears into the food with renewed vigor. Done eating now, Arlin asks “Would you mind if I rested with you for a bit?” “Not a problem at all! You have yourself a good sleep!” says one of the men. Settling down to sleep Arlin closes his eyes and drifts off into a peaceful slumber. When he awakes later he thanks the men for their hospitality and leaves them some iron to repay their kindness.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guards have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering rewards for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Arlin stands before the party leader and says “Even though I have no training in combat, I would like to offer up my services”. “Good for you sir, though we’ll have to keep an eye on you. Just to make sure that you come out of this alive” says the party leader. “Will do” replies Arlin. They wait for a few more minutes, gathering some more people. Finally they’re ready to head out, and they do so. They reach the bandit camp in minutes. Once there the party leader calls out “Surrender now or we shall kill you here and now!” One of the bandits chuckles and replies “Oh, I’m shaking in my boots. Come and try!” The party rushes the bandits, and Arlin takes a swing at a bandit as he comes close and catches him in the leg. Roaring in rage the bandit hefts his sword and slashes towards Arlin. In his defense he raises the sword in an awkward position which manages to fend off the blow. The bandit takes another swing at Arlin while he is still recovering. Thankfully a party member had rushed over and blocked the blow, and then killed the bandit. “Thanks” Arlin says. “Don’t mention it” says the stranger. “Let’s go finish them off!” With a shout Arlin and the man head toward a group of fighters to help them. Finally all of the bandits are dead and the men head back to the town. “Thank you men for all of your help, ridding our village of this bandit problem! Here are your rewards!” says the party leader. He then proceeds to deal out the reward money. Getting his money Arlin heads back to the inn he is staying at to sleep off the fatigue of combat.
