  1. *Passing by a shop, a note catches Atius' eye. Upon further inspection, he sees it is a well-made flyer from the House of Basileus. After reading further, he decides that there can be no harm in applying.

*Atius posts his information below the original flyer:

    Name:My name is Atius Postumus

    Age: 37

Place of Birth: I do not recall. My birthplace was destroyed while i was a boy. Likely part of the Holy Oren Empire's territory.

Current Residence: None, I have not found a place to call home as of yet.

Desired Job: Lumberjack, scribe, or farmer if possible, soldier if not

Experience [and level] in Skill: I am only proficient in Lumberjacking ((20)) Farming ((20)) and the use of an axe ((20))

Why House Basileus?: The to-the-point nature of the flyer caught my attention. I would like to be part of an up-and-coming House and help it make an impact on this world.

Anything else we should know?: I believe you have gathered all the information you should need. Thank you for your consideration.

    Out-Of-Character Information []

    MC Name: jakejabob

    Age: 18

    Joined since: Yesterday...

Recent bans, warning/VA's revoked, etc. with link(If-Any): None

Short biography of your character (1-2Paragraphs):

Atius is a curious man, with even more peculiar tastes. He values knowledge and truth above all else, yet will watch a man suffer with no remorse. He would not do so out of some sadist enjoyment, but simply to better understand a phenomena like pain.

Fiercely loyal to those who do right by him, he is a merciless enemy and will work tirelessly to triumph. Not the most talented combatant, on account of his lean build, he can well utilize what strength he has for menial labor such as farming or woodcutting. He is content doing any work, so long as he has a means to record his worldly observations lest he forget them.

Why do you want to join?: I enjoy a good group RP experience, and Really need a kick-start on this server.

Any other information you have to offer (villain privileges, time zone, skype name, etc.) ?: You can reach me using Skype. My username is jakejabob there as well. My timezone is GMT -5 hours. I can provide any additional information upon request.

  2. Out-Of-Character

    Minecraft Account Name:jakejabob

    How old are you?:18

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: US EST time. North Carolina specifically.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I’m a soon-to-be college student, who loves music. Playing bass guitar, and video games are my two passions. Roleplaying has always been a favorite pastime of mine.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: This week, I would likely cap at about 10 hours due to final exams, but during summer I may spend as many as 20-30 hours

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: To me, Roleplaying is almost like theatre, except in place of a stage or set; you have a fully realized world to work with. In this world, you interact with countless others, and their unique personalities. While Roleplaying, it is key to focus on staying in character, and avoiding meta/power gaming as if your life depends on it.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have spent about a year on another server, which unfortunately did not stand the test of time. I have also had experience on forum-based RP, mostly battle oriented. That is however a different cup of tea entirely from maintaining an entire personality in a character. Lastly, I play a game called Space Station 13 which involves a lot of roleplaying.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: To me, Meta-gaming is giving your character knowledge, skills, or any other edge in RP, it could not or has not acquired fairly.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-gaming could e as simple as killing another in RP without giving them a chance to defend themselves. In other circumstances, it could be power leveling to gain an unreasonable edge over your character’s peers.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect to find a dedicated community, with countless opportunities to explore my character. When I find a sense of community in a game or server I find it addictive, and very difficult to pull away.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: My primary experience comes from a world called Aswein. Unfortunately it has faded out, and the owner is no longer going to host it. It would have been a year this summer, had the server stayed around.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes

How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?:I have seen many posts referencing this server, however it was several of the other players from my past server joining that pushed me to join up.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I cannot recall any other applications.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. In-Character:

Character Name: My name is Atius Postumus

    What Race are you?:Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):None

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): I am Atius Postumus. I am… 37… My how time flies… Well, I am a man standing at 6 feet tall, and only 165 pounds. My garb is mostly utilitarian, unlike the extravagant clothes those supposed “scholars”. I opt for goggles, for protection from the elements. I always wear gloves and boots, and a nice Vest is a must. My hair is always a bit messy on account of me being a bit distracted…

Anyways, I was born just over 37 years ago, to a female baker, and a male blacksmith. How could such a mind come from such humble upbringings? Well, I was not smothered in their mediocrity for long. The small village was wiped out when I was only a child. I don’t remember much, but it was likely illness, or the night monsters. It is irrelevant because my next earliest memory was of the person who acted as my caretaker. Her name was Lizzel Postumus. I could not recall my own last name name, and it was almost fitting, meaning “Born without a father” so I took hers to myself. Oh, lizzel was no genius, but she did her best to teach me. She gave me the tool I would love the most for the rest of my life: Written Language. This opened up the world’s knowledge to me. Her work required her to travel the land’s deposits of knowledge; libraries, dig sites, and artifact finds. I absorbed it all. I lived for it. Every day I hoped to find a new book, new knowledge, like an experience I had without ever having done the thing in question. I was 18 when my caretaker passed away. It was a sorrowful moment. It was the first loss I experienced, now being old enough to comprehend death.

I then left the city’s bustle for the serenity of the forests and mountains. I wrote every observation. I spent years in solitude, content to collect knowledge for myself alone. This isolation made me shrewd, and left me with little patience for polite formalities of human contact. I found the dwarves a more suitable race to my priorities. Very blunt and not as concerned with “feelings”. Only a few years ago did I decide to rejoin my own kind, and add what I had learned to libraries of the world. I wrote books, taught the young, but found it all unsatisfying. I need to be learning. I want to be a student of the world. And so here I am on the precipice before the next breakthrough. The world still has so much more to teach, and I am all ears.

What is your Character's ambitions?: He just wants to learn all he can, although sometimes he goes too far to get it, putting lives in danger.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): An axe if combat is forced, but the pen is mightier than the sword.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He has a unique way of empirically analyzing the world around him. He asks the unanswerable questions. Not only IF something happened, but why?

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):Here you go!

    KEjqW.jpg

Other Information about your Character: Can be described as eccentric or strange, and has no objections to such titles. He will often come across as pompous or arrogant, but he is just fully aware of what he can do. Hit him up-side the head, and he’ll remember his place.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: (I wrote the following answers in story form to help establish Atius’s personality; I hope that it is appropriate.) I saw the two brutes no more than twenty paces ahead of me. I wasted no time ducking into nearby foliage. I checked my equipment. The only weapon I had was a pitted iron wood axe. In combat I would stand no chance. I will not deny that it saddened me not to be able to aid this poor creature, but if I could not help him, I may as well learn from the situation. I took out my notebook, and analyzed their actions. It was fascinating. The harder they pushed him, the more he resisted, thus enraging the two further. This escalation of events was not something I had been able to observer in controlled circumstances. I jotted several hasty notes and made for the woods to find an alternate route.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?:”Hello!” I say, “What is that boondoggle there?” I indicate the small box upon the stall.

“That there? I just got my hands on that today. The man said it holds all sorts of magics from the days of Man and Woman themselves!” He seemed convinced, but he was likely just a good salesman.

    “How much?” I enquire.

The vender hesitates and checks a small ledger in his hand. “100 Minas” He says just a little too quickly.

“50” I counter, Seeing as he doesn’t know what this trinket could be.

“Done!” he shouts, as he reached for my money. I don’t resist, and take my prize, bracing for disappointment. My heart sinks, as I open the box to find nothing in it. I do see small scribbling in an unrecognized language. I make a quick note in my journal to examine it later and slide it into my pack.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I looked for any sign of recent inhabitants. Finding none I search for any surprise mechanism on the items themselves. It seems too perfect for this not to be a trap. All the items seem to be safe, but sometimes it is best to leave this as they are found. “What could be learned from these items?” I ask myself, my default decision strategy. I see few benefits, besides observations on recent developments in smithing techniques, but I can learn that in safer ways. I slowly back out of the room and continue on my way.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I dodge the greeting, and get to business “Have you any food you would be willing to part with?”

One of them shrugs, a short human by the look of it. “What can you offer us?”

An interesting response, “I have much knowledge, Ask me anything”

Another human snickers behind the first one. The Short one is likely the leader I deduct. Primitive Alpha male hierarchy.

“How about this one?” he says,” How many minas do you have on you?” There is an outburst of laughter from the goons.

I grow wary. I have seen this process before. It stats off nice, then its “punch the scribe in the teeth!” I back up a bit. “I shall give you all my minas without a fight if you can answer one question. Does that sound fair?”

The short one steps forward “Try me!” he shouts. His confidence will be his downfall.

“Why do these larger men follow the word of a weaker less intelligent git like you?” I see the rage in his face I was hoping for.

“Because I could beat any man here in a fight!” Several of the men behind his seem unconvinced. “Oh, You thin you could take me?” he shouts in the face of the man to the right.

I saw my opportunity and ran to their left grabbing what I could on the way. I will eat well tonight.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: I would volunteer, but not as a combatant. I know my strength, and it would not be worth the risk. I would offer any information I could about how best to outsmart the

I hope this was sufficient and wait eagerly for a reply!
