  1. A note is found on notice boards across all of Asulon, including The Cloud Temple. The note is written upon ancient parchment, yellowed with age. Upon the parchment, is written a decent-lengthed message, which reads:

The unreal is far more powerful than the real. Only intangible ideas, concepts, and beliefs last. As for everything else: stone crumbles, wood rots, and people die.

We, The Sages, are apart from the rest of Asulon. We are a group of philosophers who study the theories of knowledge, reality, and existence. We are intellectuals who teach those who come to learn and learn from the world around us. We are dedicated to knowledge as well as spreading what we have learned to all corners of Asulon. This is an invitation to join The Sages. Those who would like to join us are free to do so, as we are not partial to race, gender, age, or even background.

Should you wish to join The Sages, simply write your name below in the space provided.

    ~Elder Vayze and Elder Aedan

    OOC/Information

((The following information is OOC. This means that none of it should be used IC by those who are not one of The Sages))

    Purpose

The purpose of The Sages is to learn all they can and to acknowledge the beauty of Asulon. We are true philosophers, and we believe in peace and tranquility. Though some of our members may belong to other nations or guilds that go to war, The Sages as a whole do not cause violence. We study, learn, and teach. We exist so that others may learn of reality and the world around them. We hope for none to live life in ignorance, and that all beings learn what they can from us. We teach many things, from nature to languages. For knowledge is indeed power. We take in anyone who has an open mind and an eagerness to learn. We provide an enriching learning experience for those involved, free of charge.

    Ranks

Elders - The leaders of The Sages. There is no limit to the amount of Elders there are, but there will never be only one. The Sages believe in democracy and equality, rather than tyranny. The sole reason why the Elders exist is so that they may guide those who are less experienced in life. They lead The Sages, but they make decisions based on the interest of all of The Sages, rather than a select few. They lead The Sage Council, which is responsible for discussing important matters that involve all of The Sages.

Mentors - Those who have been among The Sages for a long time. The Mentors act as guides as well as teachers to the newer members. They do whatever they can to assist Scholars whenever they're needed. The Mentors are relied upon greatly by the Elders, as their opinions are often important and well thought-out. The Elders are trusted members of The Sage Council.

Head Sentry - The one who leads the Sentries. The Head Sentry is a trusted member of The Sage Council and he answers directly to the Elders. He/she is in charge of guarding The Sages with all his/her power and keeping them safe. The Head Sentry is a responsible and a trusted member of The Sages. He/she can handle difficult situations with ease, while remaining calm.

Sentries - Though The Sages are peaceful, it is always a good decision to be cautious. The Sentries act as the guards of The Sages. They make sure that there are never any problems within the ranks of The Sages. They are trusted with the ability to watch over the Scholars and to defend The Sages at all costs. Should a dispute arise, from the Scholars or even a foreign source, the Sentries will always be there.

Scholars - The general members of The Sages. They spend time learning from the Mentors as well as the Elders. They are respected and their opinions are always taken into consideration. The entire reason why The Sages exist is to benefit the Scholars.

    Benefits

The base of The Sages is a place where people go to learn and have intellectual discussions with others. It is a peaceful place where those who wish to gain knowledge are free to come. One is required to be a Sage to enter the base. However, if you join The Sages, you are not restricted. You can still join any army, guild, nation, or group that you want to. The Sages is merely a group for people of all types to come to learn and be in peace. People of all races, gender, and age are allowed to join The Sages. We do not even care of any crimes that your character has committed in the past, for they are still welcome. Most everyone who applies will be accepted, we just want to know who you are! There you have it!

    In-Character:

    Character Name: Vayze

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!): Elf.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Dark Elf.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Vayze is a tall and muscular elf, with pure white hair that reaches down to his shoulders. His eyes are a soothing shade of purple and he is known for his looks. He was born to a good family with wealth and high status among the elves, along with his twin brother, Rilath. As for personality, Vayze gives the impression of holding most people in disdain but is quite chivalrous toward women. He is extremely arrogant, believing himself to be above others in every way. He has a generally sarcastic nature and he tends to dislike everyone he comes across. Though he is very confident about his looks and has an extremely high self-esteem, he never forms emotional attachments for more than a short period of time. This is mainly because of the way his father, Wywern, has taught him...that "to love is to destroy."

One day, many years ago, Vayze was perched high in the treetops outside of his home. He watched as his twin brother, Rilath, ventured out to play with his friend. Vayze always had a strange relationship with his family. His father seemed to love and adore him, while his mother always seemed distant and uncaring. As for his brother, Vayze had a unique relationship with Rilath. Even though they were twins, they didn't look much alike...and definitely had different personalities. Therefore, they never really spent time together. Even still, Vayze spent the day admiring nature while perched in the high treetops. He watched as the sky changed from a light blue to the darker blue that signals afternoon. Eventually, Rilath returned, having enjoyed a day of free-spirited fun with his friend. Vayze watched with a tinge of jealousy as his brother returned. Vayze had always been the one that was loved most by his father, which he never let Rilath forget...but Rilath always had more friends. Mainly due to the fact that most people disliked Vayze because of his "holier-than-thou" attitude. As Rilath approached, a blood-curdling scream could be heard coming from the house...from their mother. Rilath quickly entered their home, as Vayze dropped to the ground, landing in a crouch. As he approached the house, he decided to take an alternate route...just in case. He walked to the back of the house, planning to enter from behind to see what was going on. He peered through a window, showing him his mother's room. He noticed his mother on the ground, clearly dead. Vayze was in shock as he looked up and watched in horror as Rilath plunged a blade deep into their father's heart. Rilath fled the scene as Vayze stood frozen with terror.

For years, Vayze lived in the wilderness, fending for himself and learning the ways of life. He always was good with weaponry, so he could hunt with no problems. Though he couldn't help feeling lonely. After spending decades alone, he decided to move into Laurelin, deciding that being around people would be a refreshing change. Unfortunately, the undead attacked Laurelin, and Vayze fled into the Verge. He watched through the portal, horrified as the undead destroyed Aegis. He quickly regained his composure and jumped on an Elven boat, heading to Asulon. Since being in Asulon, Vayze has lived on his own. His arrogance and attitude has kept him alienated from others. Even still, Vayze has heard rumors of his brother...and Vayze is anxious to see him.

What are your Character's ambitions?: To regain a high status in the world, trying to fill the gap of wealth and power that left when his father was killed. He also hopes to see his brother yet again, and to "talk" with him.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Sword.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Persuasion.

    Other Information about your Character:

    Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Vayze stands back, observing what weapons the thieves have as well as their fighting styles. After a few seconds, he explodes into action, sprinting into the battle. Using his Elven agility, he would sweep the legs out from under one warrior as he elbows the other in the face. As the first one falls, Vayze would knee him in the gut, causing the man to drop his blade. Vayze would be quick to retrieve it and would use it to parry the oncoming blows from the other warrior. Using his high prowess with the blade, he would quickly dispatch the warriors, being sure to take arms and armor from them. With that, he would leave the halfling to his own devices, uncaring.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I would see what he is selling, being sure to observe the man as well. I would remain silent as I examined the stall. If the man had anything that I desired, I would persuade him to sell it to me for a lower price than listed. I would use various techniques to unnerve him, from eyeing him viciously, to using coercion to get what I want. If he refused, I would leave, forcing him to agree to a lower price.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: He would be quick to scan the surrounding area as well as the insides of the hut. Moving quickly, he would grab the sword and spin around, being sure that there was indeed no one in the hut. If the area was safe, he would grab the iron bars and flee the scene immediately, climbing a tree and jumping from branch to branch for a quick escape.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I ask them their business in the wilderness (in friendly tones of course). I would then exchange stories with them for as long as I could. Eventually, they would offer me food and drink. With that, I would be sure to leave, not wanting to spend the night.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: He would quickly offer his expertise for the reward. Vayze is a skilled swordsman as well as an archer, meaning that using these talents would be the quickest way to earn some extra currency. He would walk proudly to the battlefield. His downfall would be that he would forge his own path through the turmoil, apathetic about his commander or anyone for that matter. He would ignore the orders and fight solo rather than with his comrades.

Anything else you would like to say?: I love Minecraft? :D
