  1. I believe that if you begin by introducing the Antagonist by destroying a small village or appearing before the players in a very threatening and "in your face way," that would encourage the character not the players to unite under one banner for the same common goal. Of course you should still allow those who wish too seek it to aid the antagonists as well. In summary i think that the key to a good balance between overpowered antagonists and elitist protagonists is to reduce the amount of OOC influence while still keeping both groups joinable, this does not mean that  they should be easy to join, as long as there is a way to join them without having to contact anyone outside of IC interaction.

Just to further summarise my points:

    • Give the players a threat, and enough time to respond.
    • Allow players to join either side, but not without relative difficulty.
    • Joining a side must not require any OOC interaction.

I am certain that if these simple points are followed then there would be no need for a artificially created protagonist group because the initial warning or threat of sorts would force nations to stop quarreling and unite, and if the leaders of nations do not unite, then that should be part of the roleplay. For example, If a nation leader refused to agree to treaty and untie for a common goal then he would most likely displease his populous and cause possible riots, coos and protests. The introduction of a protagonist group denies players the option of this fun roleplay. Also remember that this is all my humble opinion and i did not mean to force it upon anyone that does not agree with it.

  2. Thank you. I so think this would work too :)

I was thinking that perhaps the group shot at the end of the video could comprise of as Samo said, a snooty high elf with perhaps a monacle looking down upon the others. The orc could be attempting to eat the halfing by lifting him into the air whilst smiling towards the camera or he could be looking clueless while scratching his neck with someone else's arm. Of course the wood elf would be sitting on a tree branch in the background whilst smiling towards the camera, and underneath him/her would be an angry dwarf trying to jump up and hit the branch with his comically huge axe. I strongly suggest using the foreground and background to demonstrate to more involved and more isolated races, for example the High elves would more than likely be looking down upon the others from afar whilst the "Brutish" Humans, Dwarves and Orcs would be situated at the foreground of the freeze frame.

  3. I think that you should end each video with the said race ending up in a scenario where they are in a group with the other races much like the TF2 ones by valve, this is because it helps the audience to understand the relationships between the stereotypes A good tip is to use techniques from english such as Juxtoposition and paradoxes which were both used n the above Pyro video to create a comic element.

I also believe that it would be best to choose the stereotypes as such:

    • The Human: A noble in heavy armour that charges around breaking down doors and screaming loudly.
    • The Elf: You may have to address the difference between the downright snooty and disapproving high elves and the hippy dippy wood elves.
    • The Orc: I do not have much experience with orcs but I imagine you could take a much similar approach to the TF2 Heavy, a comically gentle giant maybe.
    • I am not experienced enough in either the dark elves, dwarves, halfings or kharajyr (Hope I spelled it right..) to help you there.

Finally, I would recommend that you start with the Orcs or the Humans as the traits of both races are rather well known and would attract a large amount of attention to these undoubtedly deserving videos. Of course this is just a suggestion and i am not requesting anything of you other than maybe an old hat banner? I jest, of course.

    Sincerely, COOOOOKIE! :grin2:

  4. Why the default texture pack? (My brain refuses to let me call them resource packs for some reason unknown to me) Please use a texture pack, It makes EVERYTHANG betar.. Kay?

I personally like to use either A'therys ascended or...... no actually only A'therys Ascended. However ANYTHANG is better than default.

  5. It's clear the majority agree that traveling by road is great for role-play. Not only does it increase the chance of it taking place but it can also be a shared experience. Now let's say you can click a pillar that takes you to a particular city. Why not merge both these concepts? Make it mandatory that a person must follow the traditional road. After some time, say 5 - 10 minutes of walking there is a pillar. This can then take you 5 - 10 minutes away from your destination.

Users are grateful they have had there 40+ min walk reduced and they still get to enjoy 10-20 minutes of potential roleplay whilst traveling. For so long we have been under the assumption that all forms of warps must take you directly to the desired location. I think we should address that. In regards to personal /setsoul that it should still be in affect but can only be activated at one of these pillars. Meaning that yes you can warp to your own location provided you do some initial traveling.

I hope I have not repeated anything already said and would like to know what you think.

I totally agree, however for characters that live in small villages, this is a serious problem because they might not have a road accompanied by a pillar just for their individual village...

Blaze is 5'10 and has bright green eyes, he has minor burns and some scars from his childhood.

Character Name: Blaze ( explained in bio )

    Character Race: Human

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

There was never any historical records of Blaze, all of his records were destroyed in a fire during the Battle of the Boot, the only reason he survived was the selflessness of a member of the village guard, sadly the guard died of serious burns a few days after rescuing the newborn Blaze. Ten years later Blaze was living with a Dwarven couple around the outskirts of Mount Ire, at first it seemed a nice life, but the family was very poor and the couple used to take out their frustration out on the only child, after years of abuse, he ran away into a sewer network.

One year after reaching the other side of the sewer pipes, Blaze realised that he wasn't completely alone when he met a group of homeless teenagers that had turned to crime in order to survive in the slums surrounding arethor, after spending a few weeks as a rookie, at first blaze was totally against the idea, but he soon gave into their ways in order to stay alive, and after a few months he was lighter on his feet than any of the other boys in the Gang.

Little did he know that 8 months later the gang would be caught and hung for pickpocketing a distant relative of King Godfrey, before the group of adolescents could be hung the other members of the gang managed to dig a tunnel to get out of a holding cell, sadly none of the others could get out before the guards noticed what was happening, as Blaze saw his friends brutally executed in public he knew that he had to change his ways, what the gang had done was wrong, it wasn't right to steal from innocent people, Blaze has been trying to redeem himself through good deeds when he was approached by a group on monks..

    What are your characters ambitions?:

Blaze hopes to some day get out of poverty and settle down with a nice family, though he'd never let you hear about it.

Is there anything else you would like to say about your character:

Blaze enjoys next to nothing, this may be because of not only his physical burn scars, but his mental scarring left by being abused and seeing his close friends publicly murdered in front of him. ( Blaze is 19 Years old )

    Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

Blaze walks up to the Dwarf and says " I know what it's like to struggle, what can I do to help? " The Dwarf raises his eyebrows startled at how helpful the human was, " Well, I suppose you could buy something! I don't need a mere Human's help, I just want your money.", Blaze looked at the Dwarf and sized him up, " You shouldn't have been so rude..." He threw some gold coins at the Dwarf and swiped a little bottle of elixhir off of the counter, then he smirked and said " If you

r attitude to your customers is always like this then you won't be able to pay for the food in your stomach, you ignorant fool " The Dwarf went bright red, " That's enough! OFF WITH YOU!" Blaze walked away from the shopkeeper and out of the elaborate market square, which featured a fountain with a scuplture of some sort of cherub.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? Blaze sizes up the Orc and decides that he is outmatched, so Blaze walks between the Dwarf and the Orc and asks them " Is everything okay here? ", The Orc looks down at him and bellows " Since when is it your busine- " But the Dwarf cut in before the aggressive Orc could finish his sentence " It's his business because you are intimidating me and if he has any common sense he is concerned it may lead to violence, " The Orc grunted in dismay " and on what grounds is this based on? " the Dwarf was getting angrier and angrier " On the grounds that you just threatened to smash me to a pulp! " Blaze quickly interrupted before th orc could respond " How about we each go our seperate ways and leave it at that eh? " the Orc just grunted angrily and shoved Blaze aside " Go away, stupid human, you are starting to frustrate me " Blaze smirked and he was just about to say some kind of witty remark when the Dwarf kicked the Orc in the shins and leaped on his back, pounding his fists into the back of it's head " what the? " blaze and the Orc pondered in unison, but Blaze realised too late that to Dwarf had actually caused the Orc to fall to the ground unconscious, " WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?! I had the situation under control! " Yelled Blaze, " Of course you did " giggled the Dwarf...

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

The man fell forward and hit the floor heavily, Blaze knelt down and quickly helped the man up " Where do you live? i'll help you home if you want.. " The old man sighed, " I suppose so, but my house is on the other side of town. " Blaze didn't hesitate at all, " I don't mind, I assure you I have walked much further before " The Old man looked up at the man that had just offered to help him, " Thank you so much, there should be more people like you in this town, what is your name?" Blaze looked back at the old man with a stern look " I don't have one "...
