  1. Thank you, all, for your warm welcomes. While my group's first encounter didn't quite end well (one of my younger members decided it was a good idea to stand up to a couple of Orcs and their Lur Wolf, then dragged the rest of us into it), the people that we ran into afterwards made it certain that we'll be playing on LOTC for quite some time. :)

  2. If you're more interested in adventure and magic than the political tensions of Anthos, I would suggest the Arcane Delvers. ;)

We actually already had our first encounter with that group, last night. We're... considering it. ;) But we'll likely explore a bit more before making any commitments.

  3. I love it when groups like yours join LotC. In my experience, they've been talented assets. Welcome, and if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. I'm a Guide so it's my job ;)

I certainly hope that we live up to your expectations. Thank you. :)

    I like you already.

    Welcome to Hell!

SKYRIM FOR THE NO-- Oh. Wait, wrong mythos. Erm. Hello there.

Also if you like peasant rp, come join Kralta :D

I'll keep that in mind. :)

After reading your application, I can only anticipate what you will bring to the server. Welcome to the Lord of the Craft, and I hope you have the best of times here! :)

Many thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed my work!

  4. Nope, against the forum rules to have an intro/AMA. Banned.

I'm kidding, welcome to the server!

I hope you and your group have a great time!

As for questions... What race are you playing/planning on playing?

Ah, a simple question. Human. Always human, when it's my first run into a new realm. :) Hard to mess up your own race.

I'd just like to inform you that the Halflings are hands down the best rp group in all of Anthos for the time being... Happy roleplaying!

    FTFY. <3

  5. Hello, everyone. I'm Xumevyn, though you lot can just call me Xu or Vagabond. I'm a member of a group of Minecraft players that've been playing on the same servers together for quite some time now (Other members include Tunnler, and LazyLilith.)

This is our first foray into Minecraft roleplaying servers (as a group). I sincerely hope we're able to contribute to what, from what I can tell, is an amazing and thriving community.

Onto tooting my own horn: I'm an insufferable ubernerd who spends his (admittedly limited) free time gaming, reading, gaming, cooking, gaming, or reading. I enjoy Minecraft, traditional D&D-esque tabletop roleplaying, and sushi.

This is beginning to sound a bit trite, so I'll say this: Feel free to ask me anything here. We can double this thread as an intro/AMA, if that's within the confines of the forum's rules. ;)

Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Absolutely.

    Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: 'Becoming' a character and acting out their actions and reactions in a given situation/setting. In short: adopting a role and acting it out.
Meta-gaming: Utilizing knowledge that a player, not a character, possesses, in order to gain an advantage.
Power-emoting: Role-playing in a manner that dictates what happens to or the reaction of another player's character. Poor form, old boy.

    In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

    Full Name: Cerion ti'Balere
    Current Age: 22
Sub-race (if any): Technically Northerner, though does not identify as such due to stark personality differences.

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Born Cerion Lautin, the second son of a wheat farmer in Ager, Cerion left his home village the moment he turned seventeen. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to erase any evidence of his low-born birth from his personality and actions.

Refusing to be defined by his birth, even his common surname, Lautin, has been replaced with the exotic sounding title 'ti'Balere', or 'the Mighty', a name that he's done his best to live up to by traveling the length and breadth of the land and seeking always to become smarter, stronger, or more skilled.

    Ambitions for the Future:
Despite his hidden past, Cerion has no problem waxing eloquent about his future. The self-titled 'Vagabond King' intends to form his own band of warriors, one founded on principles and discipline over greed and convenience. (A distinction that he vehemently defends, against those who would claim he is naught but a mercenary captain in the making.)

Personality: Those who know Cerion would generally give one of two descriptions of him: 'quiet confidence', or perhaps 'self-assured arrogance', depending on how much they like the man.

Skills: Cerion has dabbled in a great many pursuits, though he seems to have great natural talent for fencing, hunting, and possesses a force of personality and charisma that makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): http://i.imgur.com/TjsPliL.png
Any other details you wish to share about your character: n/a

    Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

    1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

    Answer:

    How peculiar.

This is the first thought that drifts across Cerion's mind, as his gaze follows the strange figure. A part of him, the logical, rational part of his mind, reminds him that there are guards a stone's throw away. He could yell out, call them over, and they would drag the man away. No mess, no fuss.

    That, however, presents another difficulty.

How on earth would he find out what the man was up to if the guards hauled him off to be interrogated?

Cerion was no fool. He knew that, if he was caught following the man, acting equally suspicious, the guard would likely think him an accomplice to whatever assuredly sinister deed the man was up to. He placed his palm atop the pommel of the rapier at his waist, sighing quietly.

The decision took a fraction of a second.

Curse my curiosity! He mentally fumed, before ducking into the shadows and beginning to tail his new objective.

    2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

    Answer:

The very instant that Cerion spied the brigands, he ducked down into some foliage. Hoping that the green and brown dyes he applied to the basic leather armor he'd purchased in the city would serve him well, he began to slowly make his way around the clearing.

Just... a little... closer...! He willed himself still.

"Just hand over whatever you've got, gramps, and we'll be on our way," one of the men sneered. From his accent, Cerion could tell he was no local. Another foreign bandit, come to prey upon the weak and isolated. A forager, or farmer, from the look of it.

Realizing this, the Vagabond King felt something he was unused to: an ember of anger, beginning to smolder in his breast. Curiosity, bemusement, irritation, these were all emotions he was familiar with; anger?

Perhaps it was the condescending expression on the bandits' faces. Perhaps it was the way the old man's arms trembled as he watched the two. Or, perhaps, it was the fact that he saw his father's face upon the old man's in his mind eye. None of that mattered.

With a gutteral roar, Cerion drew his sword and leapt from his refuge in the trees. Blade spinning frantically, the two startled thieves were hard-pressed to defend themselves, caught unawares as they were.

He allowed himself no seconds thoughts. He was a dervish, a dance of steel and footwork that left little time for strategy or retaliation from his two foes.

The tip of his iron sword caught one brigand's shoulder, between the straps holding his thick plate armor together. Blood streaking in the setting sun, the two men stagger back in shock.

"Who are you?" The wounded man demanded incredulously.

Placing his thumb and forefinger at the base of his sword, Cerion slid his hand down, almost casually flicking the dripping blood from the blade.

"Your ferryman," came his cold response, before Cerion stepped forward, blade singing once again.

    3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

    Answer:

    "How much for the brooch?"

"For this? A magnificent eye, you have, sir. A finer piece, you'll not find anywhere in this market! Indeed, I'd almost despaired selling it, for the philist--"

"How. Much. For. The. Brooch?" Cerion repeated, placing quiet emphasis on each word. He was sure the man had rehearsed that pitch he was beginning hours before he'd even thought to come to market. Best head that off before he'd gotten worked up.

"Er. For such a rare and valuable piece, sir, I can let it go for say... Nine hundred minas."

"Preposterous. I'll give you two hundred." He wasn't sure why the trinket had caught his eye. Perhaps he'd give it as a gift to some pretty tavern maid, though he doubted it. Such things didn't really interest him.

"Th-The diamonds, alone, are worth more than five hundred minas! Any less than eight hundred, and I'll have to feed my children naught but stale bread for this week."

"If you have any children, I'd wager you don't know of them. I'll give you five hundred and seventy-five."

"You'd have me starve in my skivvies! Seven-fifty!"

"Six-fifty, and judging from your figure, sir, you'd be long in the starving."

"Why, you...!! I can go as low as seven hundred. No less, no less, or you truly will have me eating scraps!"

    "Done."

With a handshake and an expression that said the merchant was much happier with the sale than his protests had hinted at, the two made their transaction, and Cerion was on his way, musing idly about his impulse buy.
