  1. ((Yes, but if it was through betrayal we wouldn't be very happy about it..also if your character becomes a higher rank and gains access to rather important secrets..you probably wouldn't be allowed to leave so easily in an RP sense. But higher ranks are typically given to those who have more loyalty and less thoughts about leaving soo...

Also, for those of you without Villain Applications that wish to apply for the guild, you don't have to wait until you have a VA, provided you have plans to get one.))

  2. ((So, um, where's the response for stabbing the guy, knocking him out, bringing him back to your base and torturing him for information about his base, and then invading that and completely destroying it? That should be an option :P))

The man walks away, takes a loaf of bread out, and throws at you. He shouts, "A loaf for an oaf!" and disappears into an alley.

    ((Be gone troll))

((Or if you really want to know..))

You somehow manage to overpower the man, and you drag his body to your base. After hours of torturing him, the man says only, "I am bound to the secrets of the Dark Blade until death", then gives a final sigh, and expires.

The next day, walking in town, you notice someone in a similar cloak....

    ((Happy?))

  3. ((Guild Information

The Dark Blade Syndicate is a group of mercenaries, thieves, and assassins who work together and take contracts from all kinds of clients for all types of jobs. (See link for hiring details: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/102208-mercenariesassassins-for-hire/)

We take no affiliation and favor no nation, religion, or other guild. We favor only the client.

We offer our services in return for payment in minas or items of value. We are not a 'minas or die' group, though that doesn't mean not paying for contracts is acceptable..

If you are interested in being a part of the Syndicate, here is our current structure:

    Ranks:

Grand Master ~ The leader of the guild. He has supreme authority over all members, and will allocate contracts to the members as he sees fit. He is also the carrier of the Dark Blade, made from obsidian. The current Grand Master is Engris.

Master ~  Second in command under the Grand Master. There may be up to three members of Master rank at a time. Masters have the highest priority for high risk contracts. Members typically report to them when completing a contract. They may specialize in a specific type of work (thievery, assassination, etc.). Members may look to Masters for advice in training in those specific fields.

Nightblade ~ The highest rank in a non-command position. They are the elites of the mercenary force. With the highest priority for most contracts, especially 'wetwork', they are expected to complete contracts without any room for error due to their experience.

Listener ~ Listeners are considered of equal rank to the Nightblades, however, they do not take on as many contracts. They are instead responsible for finding clients and contacts and relaying contracts and information to the guild. Most contracts they are assigned to are lower risk, such as thefts, destruction, and reconnaissance.

Seeker ~ The second rank of the mercenary force. They take on contracts of all varieties, but do not have as much skill or priority as Nightblades. They take on the low to medium risk assassination contracts. They are the first rank that has access to the Syndicate's sanctuary.

Hireling ~ The lowest rank of the mercenary force. They usually take the lowest risk jobs, such as thefts, security, etc, and may go along with higher ranking members on contracts to gain experience in the job. They usually do not take assassination contracts unless the target is very low risk. They typically do not have access to the Syndicate's sanctuary, until they have proven their loyalty, skill, and commitment to the Dark Blade.

Pay: Members are paid per contract. Pay level depends on the risk level of the contract taken.

    Basic Tenets:

    1) You shall not kill, steal from, or purposely hinder another member of the Syndicate

    2) You shall not kill unnecessarily while working a contract.

    3) You shall not steal from or kill children.

    4) You shall keep the secrets of the Dark Blade within the Syndicate, and may be bound to them until death.

    5) You shall not bind yourself to the interests of nations.

    6) ((You must adhere to all server rules, VA rules, and must properly RP before taking actions such as killing, destruction, etc.))

Members of higher rank may need to adhere to more advanced tenets, which will not be described here.

    Roles:

Characters of all types are acceptable, be it the more standard mercenary/assassin type, or the less traditional approach as a mage. Do not be deterred just because your character doesn't have physical capabilities.

    ))

  4. ((We are for hire for almost any kind of mercenary job you can think of. See the post below or this link for more details: http://www.lordofthe...ssins-for-hire/))

Walking through town one day, you are approached by a mysterious man, cloaked in dark grey. You can see strands of white hair under his hood, but the rest of his features are obscured. He examines you and says in a relatively deep voice, "You look like the type...tell me truthfully, are you..a mercenary, a thief...an assassin..?"

Looking at the man questioningly, you reply:

    "Uhh..not really.."

The man stops moving, looks you in the eye, and says, "Neither am I". He abruptly walks away.

    "Perhaps..what is it to you?"

Even under his hood you can make out a devious smile forming. He reaches into a pouch, and hands you a folded piece of paper.

"How would you like to be a part of something bigger?" he says. "Something..better..work with other like-minded mercenaries. Have you heard of the Dark Blade Syndicate? Likely not. Here," handing you the piece of paper, "fill this out. I'll be waiting over here." He walks away, and leans against a nearby building.

You unfold the piece of paper, revealing an application of sorts.

((To apply, please fill out this application and give it to the man (post it in this thread))

  5. As you walk down the path, you hear the caw of a bird above you. Looking up, you see a raven perched on a ledge, staring at you curiously. It flies down to ground level, caws again, and walks towards you. You notice a small scroll attached to its right leg. The raven is still as you reach for the scroll and unroll it.

  6. Out-Of-Character Information

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - Eabrek
How old are you?: - 18
What time-zone do you live in?: - Central Standard

Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Yes, usually with friends in unstructured open RPing, sometimes with structured games like DnD, and a little bit on Minecraft servers with only friends on.
Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - Only my own or my friends'
Have you applied to this server before?(Please link past applications): - Nope

How did you hear about us?: - I was looking around for servers in the forums and this was the first one I saw that appealed to me
What do you think the server will be like? - A community full of mature people who enjoy a good role playing session and a server that appears to have a long, very well detailed and thought out structure and history. I think this will be an excellent server to be a part of for my tastes.
Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes
What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - I'd have to say this: When you set your Minecraft skin, make sure it
suits your character and race - don't have something totally irrelevant,
or non-roleplay. Please, also don't use a nude skin!

    Definitions

What is roleplaying?: - Acting out a specific role or character, usually in a gaming situation.

What’s metagaming?: - Using information that your roleplaying character normally wouldn't know for an unfair advantage.

What’s powergaming?: - Playing as if your character can defeat all odds and survive any situation...basically refusing to deal with something bad that should happen to your character. I.e. your character is shot three times in the chest and once in each leg...he should die..but nope, he somehow runs away and recouperates, assuming he didn't dodge the bullets in the first place because he's got a bit of Neo in him.

    In-Character Information

What’s your character called?: - Engris

What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Dark Elf

What sex are they?: - Male

How old are they?: - 63

Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): - Engris remembers very little of his early childhood, save but a vivid memory that frequently haunted his dreams during his early adulthood. This nightmarish fragment starts with his home engulfed in flames, and glimpses the bloodied face of his mother as she pushed Engris away from the already burnt corpse of his father, and out the door, to save him. As Engris turns back, he sees that the doorway had collapsed just after he alone escaped.
He was put into an orphanage in Luminaire around the age of 7, but ran away soon after. He was raised in the streets, mostly by himself, until the age of 14, when he was taken in by a mysterious man called, "The Listener". This man was secretly one of the greatest mercenaries and assassins in the region, and he trained Engris over years to be as skilled as himself. Constantly hunted by the Sentinels of Malinor, Engris and his mentor relocated their home to a more secluded location near Luminaire. After his mentor died, Engris resorted to his own mercenary work, taking only contracts against those who were corrupt and deserving.

What are they like (personality)?: - As he was tought by his master, whos namesake was one of his philosophies, "It is better to listen and speak little than to listen little and speak stupidly!" Engris is a quiet and calculating man, who usually thinks before speaking. He usually controls his emotions and appears passive (through many years of development), but occasionally may lash out when presented with very aggravating situations..such as the racist barbaric loaf he once broke the nose of.

What are their ambitions?: - To have his name known and spoken in fear by all who would do evil, or rather, to be a nameless nightmare to such people. To be responsible for something significant and great in the world, such as an event or an organization. To one day work together with a group or guild of mercenaries rather than alone.

Do they have any special skills?: - Engris is especially skilled with swords and all types of blades, has a keen sense for threats around him, a particular skill in stealth, a knack for strategy and tactful decisions, and well developed skill for survival in a multitude of situations. Lastly, he has a handy ability to pose as certain types of people, i.e. a bandit, for the purpose of infiltrating a bandit camp.

What are their weaknesses?: - Struggles to control anger when heavily aggravated. Also struggles to tolerate those he deems unintelligent.

Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - Engris is a Dark Elf with ashen skin, tinted slightly blue. His hair is just over shoulder length, and is a brilliant silver hue. He is tall in stature, as most elves, and reaches a height of 6' 5". His body is muscular and defined, yet a bit subtlely so.

Anything else you want to say about them?: -

Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - laouHSJ.png
