  1. ((Beautiful city. My only suggestion is to stop expanding now. I see you guys have outlines for like 2 or 3 more platforms and I suggest you guys destroy them and try and fill in what you have now then build those later if you absolutely need to. Also I say you guys should not build bridges. Put a double chest of boats on the pier and all over the city so people can use boats instead of there being massive (and potentially unsavory looking) bridges stretching out all across the lake.))

  2. As Zerlina passed beneath the shadow of Hadrian's Gate in the hours closing in upon twilight, she took notice of a crowd gathered in the gardens aside the red cliffs.

"The third edition of the Imperial Garden Pamphlet is in!" A child no more than ten shouted from a top one of the many benches in the park. He waved a series of thick folded parchments above his head, "Free by the grace of His Majesty!"

Her eyes lightened, and she dismounted the old pony she rode and led it by the reigns into the bustle of the crowd. There were all shapes of people within the conglomerate. Old and young, white and black. The rich reached toward the sky begging for a copy of the pamphlet just as the poor did; all were obsessed with learning from the words of the Imperial Government.

It took until the sun had set for the crowd to at last disperse from the park and gather around various light posts with their eyes transfixed on the pamphlet, eager to finish it so they would be up to date with gossip the next morning. Zerlina folded hers into her pocket while she rode into the inner city. There was frighteningly sparse amounts of literature within the city of Kaldonia for which she could indulge herself on. First she had started at the mundane histories within the Palace and when those had run dry she had settled to reading legal documents and books, and when Zerlina ran out of laws to read about she set to reading the tax ledgers in the Imperial Steward's office. The Garden Pamphlets had always been a satisfying literary change of pace.

When the old pony had at last been taken by the palace stable boy, Zerlina hurried herself to her chambers. The tasks of the day had been settled by the others in the serving staff. The floors had been scrubbed vigorously, the gardens had been trimmed and tended to, the meals had been cooked, served, and cleaned according to schedule, all of the sheets and blankets had been washed and folded and replaced; the matters of the palace had been attended to, and for that Zerlina was thankful.

She sparked one of the many candles in her chambers and began to spread the muted glow to each waxen spire. When at last she had finished, Zerlina set to the task of reading the pamphlet.
  3. Zerlina walked with dread to the door of her closet in the Imperial Palace. The day had been long and torturous given the task of scrubbing every floor in the palace, and washing every linen that could be seen. Her fingers ached, her knees were bruised, her back throbbed from the perpetual movements of the day.She moved as if a weight was placed on her shoulders dragging her toward the floor, and the only prospect keeping her from falling to the ground in slumber was the delightful comfort of her bed.

The young woman lazily pulled open the doors of her closet, scanning the contents with heavy eyes. Zerlina's sleep clogged motions soon turned to a frantic search of her closet.

    "No . . . Where is it?"

Through sheets and dresses, and books and letters she foraged frantically, until Zerlina at last sank to her knees. Her door had been unlocked. She had thought nothing of it before.

"I've been robbed," She declared despondently as she sulks back across her room to lay in her bed.

Her blue eyes stared at the ceiling, lost in a spiral of thoughts as she played out numerous scenarios in her head, yet one question lingered,

"Why would they steal my favorite blanket? What terrible thieves."

  4. Sorry if this is bad, I am terrible at writing biographies.

    Out-Of-Character Information

The simplest section of the application! Simply answer these questions so we can get to know you a bit better.

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: -  Zerliina

How old are you?: - 20
What time-zone do you live in?: - EST

Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Yes I have. I was an avid forum roleplayer. I am actually of the opinion that forum roleplaying is superior to any other kind of roleplaying, but that is the literary buff in me speaking.

Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: -  No sir.
Have you applied to this server before? (Please link past applications): - No sir.

How did you hear about us?: - Faint whispers in the breeze. I heard about it a while ago on reddit. I do not remember when, but I bookmarked the website ages ago  and I have finally gotten around to applying.

What do you think the server will be like? -  I am sure it will be interesting. I know there will be immature players and trolling, but I also know there will be mature players and talented writers. I will take all things in stride though. I do not mind the style a person plays or their quality of writing or roleplaying, I’ll just abide.

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: -  Yes sir.

What’s your favorite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - I am glad there is a rule against descriptive sexual roleplay. It is impossible to moderate the ages of players on this server, and therefore the potential for sexual roleplay to occur between a minor and an adult is very possible. It is better to err on the safe side. Also sexual roleplay can consume individuals play style until they are simply writing erotica.

    Definitions

This is simply so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not another website / person's!

What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is simply taking on the role of another and playing their part in the story.

What’s metagaming?: - It is derived from the metaphysical, something that is beyond our world. Metagaming would be knowing knowledge that to the character would be metaphysical and beyond their world. Essentially it is the player using their own knowledge to inform the character of information beyond their world.

What’s powergaming?: - It is being over powered, and powering through everything. A character is stabbed in the spine, yet acts as if nothing happened.

    In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

What’s your character called?: - Zerlina

What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Human

What sex are they?: - Female

How old are they?: - 18

Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): -

In the winter of the waning years of Anthos the child Zerlina was born in the farmlands of the capital of Oren, Abresi. Her father Thalin was a journeyman architect who served the Lord Steward of Oren in the reconstruction of the capital, and her mother Zorna was the daughter of a farmer from the small caste of land owning peasants. Zorna’s dowry upon marrying Thalin was a handsome tract of farmland on the road to the city, and between the modest wages her father earned and the earnings gained from selling excess horse feed, potatoes, and flowers Zerlina lived a life of relative comfort compared to some of her peers.

Through the money earned Zorna was able to hire extra farm hands to help increase the farm’s yearly crop yield. With the care of the farm being fully controlled by Zorna, the family was able to send Zerlina to Herendul to study in an abbey at the age of five; she was the first in her family to receive a formal education. She lived for several years in the town of Wallsport learning of the Faith and history of Oren; she also learned how to read and write, of literature and poetry, simple mathematics, the proper courtesies of being a woman, and the difficult skills that are inherent in managing a household. From the age of seven Zerlina had been given charge of the ordering and maintenance of the abbey’s gardens and displayed early on a knack for ordering her peers to the best of her ability. The sister Haznea took Zerlina beneath her wing and taught her further of the nature of the world and of the political machinations that moved the nation and the world, though Zerlina heard the wisdom she was uncertain of the meaning.

In Wallsport, Zerlina befriended several of the locals including two siblings Peter and Persephone. The trio idealized hiking in the Herendulian Mountains and at times beyond into the North despite the threat of the Scourge. It was not until they witnessed a conflict between Herendulian Knights and the Necromancers and their minions that they gave up on hiking in the north. At the age of eleven the town of Wallsport was struck heavily by the Scourge and put under a prolonged siege. Zerlina witnessed several of her peers at the abbey be cut down by the blades of undead beasts, and on the third day of the siege she discovered Peter impaled upon a spear that stuck from the second story of a home.

When the town was liberated at last, the abbey was abandoned save for a handful of the nuns and the abbot. Zerlina returned to her home near Abresi and aided her mother in ordering and maintaining the lands and the workers.  The full responsibility of the household fell onto her when she was twelve years of age when her mother’s leg was broken by a kick from a mule. She asserted control of the farm production and the trade of products in the city of Abresi and other open air markets in the surrounding lands while her mother controlled the accounts of the household and her father continued to bring in minas from work in the city and the surrounding lands.

Besides her experience in authority and her propensity for order and command, Zerlina was still a child and still held a relatively idealistic view on the world. Upon her fifteenth birthday she became enamored by a handsome young knight who promised her land and riches, and a bounty of love and respect. Being born of the lower class, the attention she received from a member of the gentry surprised her and glazed her perceptions and she grew to love the knight as well and expected to marry him. The knight of course was a womanizer, and on the day that Zerlina expected to marry him they were confronted by a parade of his previous lovers who informed her of his gross misconduct and his nefarious ways. And thus she became instilled with a complete disillusion to the advances of knights, barons, and counts as they could only be filled with lust if they sought to declare their love and affection for those below their rank.

As the Scourge continued their onslaught during the war it became increasingly more difficult to live in the countryside. Attacks from the minions of the Scourge became more frequent, and it was only safe to live within the walls of settlements during most hours of the day. As the war with the Scourge and other nations pressed on, and the political situation in Oren became more fragile Zerlina’s father sold the farm land and rented an apartment in Abresi as he began to arrange moving his family into the Fringe. Zerlina was sent first into the Fringe at the age of 16 to set up the new homestead of her family with the few workers that they could still afford while her family remained in Abresi.

Because of the tense and violent situation that ravaged the Fringe, the household that Zerlina attempted to establish failed and the few workers she had fled. Her family arrived some months later and established a household in a remote region of the Fringe, content to live in relative peace until things had settled down.  Zerlina was not content with this and she continued to find work across the Fringe when the mass influx of refugees from Anthos began arriving. She would apply her knowledge to various forms of work and send off a portion of her wages to her family on a monthly basis

What are they like (personality)?: -

Zerlina is relatively good spirited. She has a compassionate side as would be expected of her, but she is also very authoritative when given a job to complete. She sees the importance of the needs of the many over the needs of the few, but she believes that the best way to accomplish this is through the use of streamlined power. She is a strict oligarch who believes in the importance of power and control in the world, and she strongly supports the monarchy of Oren. She is not particularly shy, and when in a situation in which she is control she will become increasingly more demanding and expectant of everyone being capable of fulfilling their roles.

    What are their ambitions?: -

Zerlina has a healthy desire to be a landowner, but she expects that she will inherit her family’s land upon their death. She wishes to work for the Emperor and tend to the household and the gardens of the Imperial palace, but if that were not to work she would enjoy to work in the city and aid in maintaining it.

Do they have any special skills?: -

She is knowledgeable in tailoring, farming/gardening, treating wounds that one would typically see on a farm, she can manage an account, is informed on history, she is pious. Zerlina is also literate and has an interest in poetics and theater. Her true skill comes with organization and management, she will not allow inefficiency in any capacity.

    What are their weaknesses?: -

She has no combative skills whatsoever. She has lived a life of relative comfort and as such has never actively participated in a combat situation except as a victim.  She is very trusting at times when it comes to the nature of an individual’s character, but she is also unwieldy when it comes to getting work done to the point that she is abrasive and unforgiving.

Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: -

Zerlina is tall and in the upper spectrum of the five foot range. She is thin to a degree, but has meat on her that would be expected of a life of relative comfort. Her hands are calloused from work, and the pinky on her right hand is missing at the first joint from an accident on the farm.  Her skin is pale with a northern complexion which she always found to be a rather unfortunate twist of fate being that she was a farmer with a tendency to be burnt by the sun. She has azure eyes and pale lips and most of her teeth are straight, most of them. She typically dresses in a way that asserts some authority, well dressed for a commoner, but not as well dressed as the gentry and those who are ennobled.

Anything else you want to say about them?: -

Inspired by Zerlina from the Opera Don Giovanni :O

Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: -
