What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Life Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Life Evocation, or Conjuration in general, relies upon a steady connection to the void. Through this connection, a web can be spun to conjure and manifest life from a perceptively empty plane of the Void. It utilises knowledge, creation and, most importantly, mana to summon a variety of flora and fauna as well as haphazard projectiles. These are later explained in the subsections.

Voidal poisoning is inescapable and imminent after the student has connected with the void, affecting the new Mage's abilities in strength and general constitution. The full effects of voidal poisoning progress over several years until it is in full effect, that being said the Mage would feel their growing weakness swiftly through the learning process. It is important that the student should be informed of active and passive mana as well as theories of the void itself, both ICly and OOCly, as all of these are used within Conjuration.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are a few different subsections of Life Evocation- also known as Conjuration however it is often described that Conjuration is a subtype of Life Evocation, these are the following:

Terrestial Conjuration: This refers to the summoning of pseudo-animals. The categories for summoning such creatures are organised in terms of size to which the Mage can only summon a maximum of once they have reached Tier 5. Summoned animals/creatures must be within the Mage's line of sight at all times in order to be instructed, the summon is maintained if it does leave the Mage's line of sight however it's responses to direct instructions will begin to waver. Once the Mage has summoned over five creatures the animals will begin to develop their own autonomy as it becomes increasingly more difficult for the Mage to manipulate and instruct several summons simultaneously. Furthermore, using summoned creatures becomes exhaustive to the Mage therefore largely limiting movement.

Perennial Conjuration: Refers to the summoning of flora into suitable conditions such as sand, soil, mulch, etc, dependent on the plant the Mage wishes to conjure. Original properties of summoned flora remain however are less prominent, for example a plant may cause light irritation to the skin until the spell is broken to which any effects promptly fizzle. Equally summoned plant life holds no nutritional value despite whatever its original compound is. Perennial Conjuration takes less attention to maintain thus being a less exhaustive means of conjuring.

Disjointed Conjuration: Disjointed Conjuration utilises summoned limbs or organs as projectiles, for instance a slender bone could act as an arrow within short range or a larger bone such as a femur could be lobbed haphazardly toward a foe. All conjured projectiles still adhere to physics therefore a projectile the size of a femur cannot be shot across the room at the speed of a cross bow bolt. Disjointed Conjuration can also be used in non-combat means as an aesthetic; aesthetic-based conjurations in this subsection cannot be utilised as projectiles.

Chimeric Conjuration: This refers to a patchwork-esque means of summoning, for example a Mage may be able to summon a maximum of three different combined flora and fauna into a new bewildering creature or object. Combative Chimeric summons have a time limit of use and will eventually fizzle out after an IRL hour. While it is not an elegant art, it takes great effort for a Mage to create a Chimeric summon and thus takes a significant toll on a Mage's energy after casting.

    Jing Artificery:

A Jing is typically an object of natural origin that holds significance of some sort to the Artificer, it can be used once attuned to the Mage. The charm is then displayed upon the Mage's figure.

    • Beast Melding: Requires [2 emotes] to activate the Jing and does not require direct concentration to maintain unless the Mage is rendered incapacitated. Beast melding is an addition to current matter such as a pear paw over a hand, like a glove or a mask, rather than replacing the original matter.

    • Reconstruction: While conjuring new organs or limbs is too extensive, a Mage is able to summon patches of skin to act as an organic bandage over cuts, gashes or any other wound made from a sharp object. The creation of a Reconstructive Jing cannot be made in advance nor during combat as it is a healing mechanism best suited to after damage has occurred.

    • Binding: A binding ritual cannot be completed within combat and requires a minimum of [5 emotes] to complete. The most commonly seen Binding Jing is the binding of a chosen creature to then be summoned as a companion to the Mage until it is slain thus rendering the Jing null.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Renna focused upon the hollow of her outstretched palm, as her concentration honed upon the empty space, her breathing levelled. Familiar wisps of mana began to encircle her fingers, twisting and reaching in a slow crawl toward her wrists. With the Mali'aheral's concentration remaining unbroken, the wisps of mana began to coil and pool within the hollow of her empty palm. A perceivable distortion arose as if a heat haze had settled upon her palm. The haze began to strengthen, a glimpse of a dark nothingness into a small arcane window. [1/2]

Eventually, from that peculiar distortion and concoction of mana, a shape began to manifest itself within the previously empty portion of her palm. First thin, spindly, brown legs which in turn lengthened toward a brown abdomen littered with prickly fuzz until finally a head became visible upon the creature, several little black eyes twitched as the creature considered it's new surroundings. The spider's feelers explored Renna's palm as the distortion fizzled to null, as if it had never even existed, with the house spider stood in it's wake. [2/2 Terrestial Conjuration Non-Combat]

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"The first step to conjuring something forth at your will is to know all there is to know about something." Renna explained to her new student, she lay out an array of dissection tools alongside a picked orchid. "It is all well and good to look at something and believe you understand it but you cannot simply make a shell of life." Extended a magnifying glass toward the flower. "First, use the scalpel to cut along the roots." Instructed she, her posture straightened calmly as she observed her student.

The student then proceeded to cut neatly along the middle of one of the roots and pry the matter apart. "Good, what can you see?" She asked, patient. The student grimaced lightly in confusion, "The inside of the plant?" They questioned and Renna emitted a light scoff of amusement.

"Yes, I do suppose you're right. What is it though? What does it do?" She asked then and the student considered the part they had cut, "The roots of the plant, they allow the plant to gain nutrients from the soil or from wherever it would grow." They noted and Renna smiled with a satisfied dip of her head. "Brilliant, easy, right? Okay, onto the next. Cut open the stem."

The student then makes an incision along the stem and observed the matter inside. "There's a tube-like structure." They observe and Renna nodded once more, "Indeed, and what might it do?" She inquired and the student went onto explain "To hold the flower upright and to ensure the nutrients travels from the roots toward the bud?" Renna praised the student and they continued this way until the orchid had been fully dissected.

Renna produced a small plant pot and set it down beside the student with an expectant gesture. "Now, you truly understand the flower so you can utilise the knowledge you have just learned to summon one. Connect as you usually would, concentrate upon the flower pot, acknowledge its nature, it's existence." The student proceeded to focus intently upon the flower pot, a faint glow of mana radiated within their gaze.

"Good, hold that focus, think of it as if you're pulling the flower into our plane of existence. Think of the roots burrowed into the soil." She commented softly in guidance. The student focused unto that lulling pull, as if gently manipulating threads of matter to their will. Eventually a haze gathered within the soil, a strange distortion as if a small window had opened into a dark, starry, abyss.

"You're doing it, keep going." Renna affirmed, leaning forward somewhat, keen to witness her student's creation.

The student grimaced faintly in weariness, a light sheen of sweat at their brow from the immense concentration. Eventually the roots of an orchid began to sprout from the soil, branching upward into a thin green stalk which lolled naturally off-centre. Their determination persisted as the flower continued to manifest, blooming upward as the bud of the flower began to form and take shape until the petals burst open in triumph. The student breathed a prideful sigh, the glow at their eyes promptly diminished and the flower remained, vivid, in the plant pot.

"You did it!" Renna cheered, clasping her hands together happily. "Excellent work! Now, remember, when you practice this in future whatever you wish to summon must have suitable conditions to grow from. For example a rose cannot grow in sand without water. Such scripts of nature refer to the conjured all the same. Should this flower die it'll simply fizzle out in dispersed mana and cease to exist in entirety."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

I believe that mistakes are a natural part of learning, especially with Voidal Magic as there is a lot to remember and it can sometimes be overwhelming when put on the spot. I would gently remind the student through means of OOC guidance of respective limitations to the Magic. For instance I would resend lore pages for them to look through or give further examples of potential emotes befitting of a specific cast they wish to achieve. Should the issue persist and malicious intentions pursue, I would contact an ST as a last resort if I believe the player to be unwilling of learning. But for the most part I would continue to guide and correct through both RP interactions and corrections where possible and support OOC with potential aid in wording the emotes.

    Story Event (ET)

What skills can you apply in your role as a Story Team member?

I've been on the server for many years and I've had the chance to explore, experiment and support in a plethora of communities, player-run projects and cultural progression within nations. This has allowed me to informally work on my collaborative skills as well as build my own independent initiatives. I am a communicative individual and I'd like to think I'm an approachable person both in team scenarios as well as other standard scenarios. For example, I am keen to work alongside other creative minds to build vast and vivid storylines to engage players and perhaps even strike new ambitions within players to try new things or attempt different paths for their characters.

I have always had a great respect for the Event Team and their ability to spark inspiration within nations and players who may feel a stagnation to roleplay therefore I appreciate the importance of event lines in terms of a morale boost and player participation as I personally have always thoroughly enjoyed taking part in ET-led events. I have led my own little DIY Player events a couple of times and I have always had a lot of fun allowing players to have their little moments in the spotlight to show off their character's particular prowess in a skill or to present a magic they've been working hard to study, etc and I find it an exciting concept that people would enjoy and perhaps even look forward to my events.

    TDLR;

What I believe I can bring to the team:

    -Communication Skills.

    -Ambition to create.

    -Keenness to provide player participation.

    -General people skills.

    -Willingness to learn new things.

    -Immersive writing.

How can we as the Story Team contribute toward the server's story?

The Story Team has an important role both individually and as a collective to provide both small and large scale events for players to fight against in smaller communities to larger alliances which I personally believes aids in a strengthened player base as a whole. After all, a lot of the time players are fighting against each other, when they're fighting against a common cause I think it's interesting to see what choices their characters would make in such decisions. In truth I see little that I would wish to change about the Story Team as I believe there is already plenty that the team contributes toward the server's story, I would however like to assist in lore creation in future. I hold a particular interest in world building creatures as well as the arcane and voidal horrors.

I have done plenty of world building in the past and present outside of the server through means of table top roleplay, providing references and history for players to explore and learn. I hold an appreciation for the amount of thought, time and effort it takes to create a well-rounded lore that has balanced mechanics for instance, no one wants to fight against a huge indestructible creature that will annihilate their characters within the first round nor do they wish to go against a creature that takes one smack and disintegrates. My main interest lies within the Event Team as that is where my passion lies mostly, I love to get players immersed and engaged in the player events I create. I like to keep them on their toes in terms of decision making, perhaps they have two choices but both aren't particularly desirable therefore their characters have to dabble with morality or perhaps seek out a new choice entirely.

    TDLR;

-There is nothing I would change about the current contributions.

-I would like the chance to assist in lore creation in future.

-I am primarily interested in holding Events.

-I have both external and internal experience of lore writing and event creation however I would like to better my skills under correct guidance.

    Spoiler

I am a generally "In-the-moment" person when it comes to leading events as I prefer the players to lead an initial idea and build upon their actions and choices that they make along the way for me to then react accordingly with the world around them.

Idea Number 1 - Small Group - Magic Mushrooms

Initiative: A city has been plagued with persistent raids from Dire Wolves, they pose a threat to city livestock and their violence is unprecedented. One desperate farmer awaits another attack in the night alongside some other farmers or perhaps military men, they manage to strike down one of the wolves and notice several strange inconsistencies. The Dire Wolf's eyes are bloodshot, red and milky as if the creature was blind. Foaming spittle stuck to the creature's maw.

Run Through: A group of adventurers/hunters rally and head out into the woods. There are several clues along the way that indicate a trodden path, footprints, etc. [Perception rolls are then initiated with a +1 to the roll for characters with forms of enhanced sight.] Eventually, after finding all the clues, the players will encounter a split in the path, one leads to a cave and the other leads further into the woodland.

    -Option 1:

    • Should the group split up, a few head in the direction of the cave, they find a great blubbering ogre curled up and snoring. A huge mass of green body protecting a considerable bounty, a mercenary perhaps. Weapons laid about his massive frame. If the team investigates they would eventually come across a crate of suspicious looking mushrooms that appear to glow with a peculiar, sickly, green. However several obstacles are in their path, should they investigate further into scattered papers, opened letters, discarded food and most importantly the great Ogre's bounty, they would encounter a string of booby traps: trip wires, bells and perhaps even a mimic chest should some unsuspecting party member open it thinking it was just an ordinary treasure chest!

    • With one group arriving at the cave, the other group delves deeper into the forest, the tree canopies begin to narrow, casting an ominous darkness over the adventurers. In the distance they hear howling. Presuming they follow, they'd eventually come to a grove of sorts, evidence of corruption littering the flora. To which the suspicious mushrooms from the Ogre's cave show themselves once more, sprouting from trees and the forest floor in glowing green clusters. The group continue onward, they find some skittish Dire wolves grazing at the forest floor though upon their approach- should the players be detected- the pack flee further into the woods. The group gives chase until they come across a mutated beast. A Dire Wolf with growing mushrooms sprouting menacingly from joints and fur, a staggering beast that has evidently been corrupted for some time. Frothing at the mouth and blazing eyes indicate imminent danger and the feral creature's intentions.

    -Option 2:

    • Should the group stick together and choose a route as a collective, the following scenarios would still ensue however they would happen separately and the group would still encounter both situations at some point. For instance if they go to the cave then on a different run they may go back to explore the woods.

Potentially a multiple run event in the sense that it likely wouldn't be finished in one sitting. However, the desired outcomes for the players include:

    • Players kill the Corrupted Dire Wolf and can harvest potential matter from the corpse as a keepsake.
    • Players kill the Ogre and steal the Ogre's treasure.
    • Players flee from triggering too many booby traps in the cave and have to return another day to fight the Ogre.

Idea Number 2- Medium (or Large) Group - Zombies, Skellies and the Hive

Initiative: Supernatural forces are harbouring attacks on the city and it's people. After investigations it appears a Voidal Tear has allowed the most grotesque of creatures through to the natural world. A group of courageous people must root out the cause.

First Run- The group find an abandoned voidal temple or some sort of religious ruin, potentially even Neolithic-esque with a funky stone circle. The players root out several clues in terms of potential causes and the dangers that await. Eventually they decide to enter the ruins and proceed with an investigation. It feels as if the walls are watching their every move, whispers among the wind. Paranoia settles. Misplaced tiles and unleashed arrows are triggered booby traps should players be unfortunate enough to wander into the wrong position. The first couple of waves of armed zombies and skeletons lumber out to try and protect their Hive. The first wave of attackers would be outnumbered by the party then the second wave would pack a little more of a challenge. Once the party has cleared out the first part of the ruins or the first floor to the temple, they may note inscriptions upon the walls or stones or similarly a dropped scroll from one of the undead fighters. On such a scroll/inscriptions would be a floor plan of sorts with a curious black swirl drawn in the middle to represent the tear.

Second Run- The group return to the ruins with their previously learned knowledge from the first run. The group draw nearer to the tear however several more booby traps are unveiled. They enter a great hall and face a puzzle mapped by pillars with symbols corresponding to tiles. They must work together or, alternatively, as individuals to get across safely toward a pair of huge looming doors guarded by four gargoyles perched atop short stands. Should they step on the wrong tile the stone would fall away from their feet and their party must grasp them away from a plummeting fate. To those with a keen eye the Gargoyles appear to watch the party's every move. Once they reach the end of the booby trapped hall, they will inevitably step upon a plate and with a great creek the Gargoyles become enveloped in a dark mana. The Gargoyles seek to protect whatever it is beyond the doors however they cannot fly for long due to the weight of their wings, each gargoyle can only fly at a player for [2 emotes] before it's wings become exhausted and they must fight on the ground. The Gargoyles erupt upon death, chunks of rock shatters and one Gargoyle drops a key.

Third Run- The players return once more with a large decorative key they discovered from the previous run. Finally they make it to the main hive. The players encounter a humongous voidal horror, a strange Cthulhu-esque manifestation or perhaps a massive mutated voidal bat that has somehow become sentient and humanoid. This would be the "final boss" as it were. The Horror would utilise some kind of arcane and melee weaponry however to cast a small dark blast of matter (or something of the like) would take [2 emotes] to charge [1 charge, 1 cast] then be exhausted for a turn. Furthermore if the creature charges for [3 emotes], [2 charge, 1 cast] the surface of damage would increase on the blast but the creature is then unable to use it's flight and must fight on the ground. The Large-Mutated-Bat-Creature resolves to using a large Scimitar using a regular [attempt > hit/miss] turn taking.

Potentially more than three runs needed for this particular idea depending on the choices the players make however that would be the general format I'd follow.

    Desired Outcome:

    • Hive eradicated and Players are able to retrieve several lesser lore items along the way as keepsakes.
    • A larger reward for the defeat of the 'final boss' would then be handed out to players as a greater lore item[?]

I have plenty of other ideas both more simplistic and potentially more complex both incorporating new ideas as well as old lore. I hope that with the correct guidance and support I may be able to cultivate my ideas into something achievable and, most importantly, enjoyable for players.

    THE CELIAN COURT

An Insight into The Land of Stars

“Through a progressive collective growth flourishes from seeds sown.”

The Celia’norian Courts are built upon a meritocracy, only those who have proved themselves to society through ways of politics, ambition, craft, wisdom and creativity are welcomed into the ranks of The Court of Stars. An establishment of patriots keen to support and grow the current foundations of Celia’norian society in order to protect and appreciate those who follow their own endeavours to keep the city thriving. As a buzzing hivemind, these Courtiers show great proficiency to expand on the ever-flourishing cultures of the land as well as preserving the history from which it was made.

    VALUES OF THE COURT

“Individually we are one star, together, a constellation.”

Celia’norian history is built upon reform and ambition for positive change to the lands’ inhabitants. The Court’s aim is to continue in the footsteps of their forebears, from Ivarielle’s rise, the age-old Silver Phoenix, to the collapse and rebirth of the Land of Stars for the Silver Phoenix to rise again. May the core values of the Court resonate: Patriotism, Vitality and Fidelity, and be a reminder of the strength a collective body can produce with a common goal and most of all the hope that can ignite the most lost of souls. As our history warns of inner-conflicts, stagnation and bitterness let us continue to flourish into the ever-great nation we were fated to be, united and fighting toward a common cause. A common cause to protect the people, no matter of background nor status, and strive for a thriving future.
