Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The phantom is the remnants of an ensouled creature who has deferred their final judgement and yet lingers in the land of living, there, and yet not there, invisible and confused, scarred deeply by their demise and unfulfilled, denied, or denying the ultimate conclusion to their life in a final rest. They are, by nature, incorporeal beings of life force and magical energy, who, while invisible and untouchable are yet able to be seen and felt, they are both incorporeal and malleable at the same time, creatures of will, of life, and yet without bodies, making manifest themselves through force of will or merely powerful emotion. They are scarred, each of them, mentally, needing say nothing of their physicality which no longer remains. They carry with this the idiosyncrasies of torment, of demention, each to their own and according to their suffering. They are thus further defined by their own feeling, and categorized according to their understanding of their own situation, of their own demise, and by how they have reacted to it:

The Revenant, the weakest and most clueless of the developing phantom. In their apathetic daze, they wander a world that has become alien to them, not yet fully grasping their situation, not yet truly understanding their own demise. But inevitably, they must face reality, as they are not blessed with total ignorance, and when they do, so impactful is the realization that they not be the same again, progressing on to another state of the phantom's existence in either of the following forms:

The Poltergeist, for the dark and tormented soul that simply cannot cope reasonably with their demise, consumed by dreadful passions of revenge, or so utterly consumed by the dispassion of sorrow, they are vengeful, perhaps evil, nevertheless malign entities. They are so consumed by their feelings as to not properly come to grips with their demise, trapped in a constant state of anger, sorrow, and whatever other terrible feelings accompany their traumatized existence.

The Spectre, for the contemplative soul, for the soul that has come to understand its own situation, to accept their demise and make peace with reality, whoever alien their new reality has become. Though they are no less troubled than they were before as phantoms, a whole life and a sudden undeath and the trauma that comes naturally from the two still plague them intensely. They are, however, remarkably less malign, more understanding, and perhaps nearer to ultimate acceptance of their fate.

There are yet other manifestations of the phantom, some in more innocent forms and others much more terrifying. The phantom beast, for example, much the same to the ensouled phantom of the descendant in many ways, comprised of the same substance and likely equally as traumatized, in so far as their simple minds are able to be traumatized. The spirits of deceased animals that yet lurk in the land of the living.

Worse of them all, perhaps, is the apparition. Mighty, violent, disjointed and chaotic are some of the words to describe them. They are the amalgamated mass of the souls of a collective tragedy, a great massacre, a mass murder. They are united into one entity, but most certainly not of one mind, but many minds, many tormented, terrible minds lashing out in every direction in the wake of some magnificent tragedy. They are the most powerful of all phantoms, in that they comprise the life force of many, many souls, and are thus capable of much more than any other lesser lone phantom. One massive, writhing, ectoplasmic mass, disjointed and capable of great destruction, in so far as a being of ectoplasm is capable of destruction. 

The phantoms all share in common a weakness to mage-gold Aurum. A conductor of life, contact with it is both dangerous and "fatal" to them all. Its very presence is enough to ward them off, contact with the substance, perhaps even being in the vicinity of it is painful to their existence at best. Being spiritual creatures, they are weak also to mysticism and "holy" arts that they are largely at the mercy of. More than that, due to the nature of ectoplasm sharing in some way a connection to mana and those things magical, they are susceptible also to other magics, such as void magic. All of these things seem to ignore their largely incorporeal, untouchable nature and is capable of both interacting with them as well as causing them great pain, to the point of demanifestation in fatal cases.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look? 

The ghastly form of an old knight, clad apparently in an ancient armor adorning the tabard of a red cross on a black backround. They appear withered and aged, such as they understand themselves to be, but for their facial features, a great moustache that made up much of the man's self image remains as elegant as it were in life, as he understood it to be.

Biography: Born in Johannesburg, Prenkus was born to a rather successful merchant family. His early life was one of leisure, family able to afford him and his siblings an easy life in the city, with plenty good food to eat and fun to be had. Prenkus was educated by the elders of his family, his grandfather his uncle on the extensive history of his family that dates back to the ancient times in the old city of Konigsberg back in Aegis, and taught to read and write by the local clergy. In his early life as a teenager, Prenkus became very opinionated and started paying very close attention to the local politics of the city, often giving his commentary on recent events to his friends and family, especially his grandfather whom he would talk to endlessly on the topic nearly every day around the same time in the evening. Prenkus and his grandfather were very, very close, and as his grandfather was retired and his father was away most of the time he became his main father figure and held him by the hand through most of his teenage years and late childhood.

Personality Traits: Very conservative, often taking offence in perceived degeneracy, often coming off as offensive with his blunt comments on said degenerates. Appears to have no regard for who he offends and in what way. Has a crippling sense of patriotism, his pride often disadvantaging him in most of the relationships he can manage to form. Often stands in noble poses aswell as strutting around in the most posh ways possible. Very self-conscious of his posture, he tries his best to stand tall and true in almost every situation, keeping his head up high and a hand on his hip. Very much dislikes creatures of differing species with very few exceptions, often regarding other races as below him and not worth his time, though he generally keeps his opinion on the 'inferior' to himself, as it is not very popular, at most giving comments hinting to his dislike of the race in question but rarely going out of his way to delve deeper into the topic.
