    Tva'sjalar

    Introduction

The Tva'sjalar, or "two souls", are humans who have been forced to share their body with the spirit of an animal. The two souls fight over control of the body, resulting in a transformation into a bipedal beast of great strength.

    Origin

The first Tva'sjalar was created by a necromancer seeking revenge on a Highlander tribesman. The necromancer owned a hut in the woods and kept to himself most of the time, but one day returned from collecting herbs to find his home ransacked and many of his things stolen. The necromancer blamed the tribe that lived nearest to him and spent an entire week plotting revenge. The necromancer came up with the idea of forcing one of their own to slaughter every living creature residing within that tribe, but how? He noticed the son of the tribes huntsman had brought home the carcass of a bear, one he had likely slain in their ritual of becoming a man. The necromancer first thought of resurrecting the beast, but that was too simple, too easy. A few hours of planning and he hatched something sinister. Upon the fall of the sun, the necromancer snuck into the tribe's camp and into the tent of the hunters son. The carcass of the bear was still barely warm, but fresh enough to collect the soul from. The necromancer took the soul from the bear and forced it into the body of the son, resulting in the boy shooting up from his sleep and reaching for the necromancer. Before he could grab him, the boy fell to the ground and began wincing in pain, followed soon by his screams and the sound of bones snapping and skin tearing. The necromancer fled the scene, hiding in the trees nearby to watch what would happen next.

He waited for a few moments...nothing...he had nearly given up hope until a massive figure burst from the tent. The tribes people that had awoken from the screams were met with a gigantic beast, the necromancer could see only dark figures drawn out by the light of the moon, but he could hear the screams of man and the beastly roar of a bear. He watched for hours as the beast had had created tore the tribe members to shreds, grinning wildly as he watched them fall one by one. He sat there watching for hours until the sun rose, the beast had fallen from exhaustion but not before slaughtering all the members of the tribe. The necromancer moved closer to inspect, only to find a boy with torn clothes laying in the middle of the tent circle, surrounded by pools of blood and corpses. Satisfied, the necromancer returned home, leaving the boys fate to the cold elements.

    Appearance

In human form their body will remain normal, aside from their eyes now being sharp like an animals and having a feint blue glow caused by the two souls.

In beast form, the Tva will be a foot taller than their previous size and will be covered head to toe in fur. Their backs will be arched and their muscles bulge from their body. Their hands and feet will adorn long sharp claws, and their heads will have taken the shape of the beast they share their body with.

    The very First transformation

Upon having their soul meld with that of a beast, the afflicted will feel nauseous. It will feel as though a beast is clawing away at their insides, their head will spin and they will see visions of an angry beast. They will feel like this until the spirit of the beast has calmed down, this can last up to two weeks depending on the type of beast. Upon the sickening effects diminishing, the afflicted's body will feel burdened, as though they are carrying another person over them. The soul of the beast will constantly be fighting for control, causing a feint blue glow within the eyes of the afflicted along with the pupils taking the shape of the beasts, this glow will grow stronger as the beasts soul gains more control.

    Transformation

Should the soul of the beast succeed in gaining enough control, the afflicted will feel an extreme weight hit their shoulders, forcing them to their knees. Their body will begin to painfully distort into a beastly form, their bones can be heard snapping and cracking into the proper places. Their skin will feel a burning sensation as thick fur quickly sprouts from their body. Their eyes will ache as the glow becomes stronger. When complete, depending on how much control they have over the beast, the afflicted may feel a sudden burst of rage. If the rage is strong enough, they will begin to attack anything in sight. This rage will ensue until the beast is soothed or the afflicted is killed. The transformation itself can take 3-5 turns. The rage can take 1-5 turns depending on the afflicted's control over the beast.

    Red lines

-The transformation, and remaining within beast form will require a mass amount of energy. Can result in fainting upon returning to natural form.

-Should the afflicted's soul be too weak, the beast will take complete control of the body and mind. Resulting in a permanent bipedal beast with the mind of an animal.

-You can’t instantly transform, doing so would be considered powergaming.

    Example of a full transformation

*Markus would suddenly appear weak, his legs beginning to tremble before suddenly falling to his knees. The glow in his eyes would grow stronger, his hands clenching the ground in pain.

*Markus's body slowly began to change, growing larger as the sound of cracking bones could be heard. His skin became darker as brown fur sprouted from him.

*Markus's painful groans would become deeper, forming almost into a growl. His face could be seen pushing outward into the shape of a muzzle. His nails grew thick and black as their turned into claws.

*Markus's clothes began to rip as his size became too much for them, a tail grew from his rear and ears sprouted from his head, the fur on his body growing thicker with each second.

*As Markus's transformation came to a slow stop, his body would no longer look the same. Markus has taken the form of a bipedal wolf, a bestial rage could be seen in his face.

    Personality

-Tva can range from very shy to very territorial.

-The loyalty of Tva can depend on the beast that resides within them.

-A Tva can tell if another Tva is near and may seek them out.

-The Tva have a distaste for unnatural beings. (minus themselves)

-Most Tva will be more comfortable surrounded by nature, even planted pots will soothe their spirits.

    Abilities

Some of the Tva abilities include.

-Increased Strength , Stamina, and Agility when transformed.

-Their sight and smell abilities will be slightly enhanced, including improved night vision.

-Their k9's will be slightly sharper than before, resulting in a more painful bite even when not transformed.

-The lifespan of a Tva can be extended by a few years, should the two souls turn their burden into a companionship.

The abilities of a Tva are strongest when in the forest.

    Weaknesses

-Tva are slightly weaker in urban areas.

-Tva's beast spirit can be influenced by Druidism.

-A weak soul can be easily overtaken by a beasts soul.

    The Alpha

Alpha Tva are not determined by physical strength, but spiritual strength. The more control a Tva has over their beast counterpart, the higher they are respected by other Tva.

    Side Effects

    - Tva will find their apatite to be larger than before.

    - Tva are easier to upset, whether it be anger or sadness depends on the beasts personality.

    - Tva will find themselves to be more curious of the unknown, possibly resulting in exploring dangerous areas.

    RAGE

Upon the first transformation, RAGE is unavoidable. Tva will burst into a primal state, destroying everything and everyone in sight. The risk of RAGE decreases as a Tva gains more control over their beast soul.

     Uses of Tva Parts

The use of Tva parts while in human form are as useful as they would be from a normal human. The energy from the beast is spiritual, and will leave the body upon death.

If the body parts are collected after transformation, they will retain their form. The uses for their beast body parts are currently unknown, but alchemists and sorcerers have performed tests on them.

Tva blood will be more potent if collected in beast form. Infusing the blood won't transfer the properties, it will only make users extremely ill.

    Advantages/Disadvantages

+You get the abilities of a beast .

+Your strength and agility are higher.

+Upon death, the two souls will be sent to the afterlifes they belong to.

+Tva who have spiritual control may learn to speak common in their beast form.

+Tva can sense the spiritual power of other Tva, making it easier to find eachother.

    +Immune to common diseases.

-The transformation takes a long time and is very painful.

-Druids have a lot of influence over the beast spirit.

-If a Tva attempts more than one transformation, they may faint, resulting in the beasts complete control.

-the longer they remain beast form, the weaker they will be upon returning to human form.

-Weak against fire, Fur burns easily.

    Red lines

-Not transferred via bite, only those with the ability to influence souls can create Tva.

-Only Humans can become Tva, the spirits of other races do not mix properly with beasts.

-The magic within Mages conflicts with the spirit magic, causing the beasts soul to reject the body.

-The internal transformations causes some potions to make Tva ill.

-Tva are only a foot taller than their normal size.

-The only beasts currently available are Wild cats, Wolves, and Bears.

    Character’s name: Arvold Staghelm

    Character’s sex: Male

    Character’s race: Highlander

    Character’s age: 36

Biography : Arvold Staghelm is a Highlander of Axios who's origin is speculated to be from the cold lands of Ceru. Upon first glance, one can guess that he did not grow up in a big city or even a small town like most humans do in modern times. No, Arvold was not a city born, but a child of a tribe. He grew up in a small tribe of Highlanders, migrating from place to place in their little tents. They kept to themselves most of the time, anyone who approached was met with a few heavy growls and a glare, but none dared to test how close they could get. Arvold's father was the tribes hunter, he taught him how to capture and kill animals of the North, or fish when they would migrate near the oceans. His mother was known for her ways with herbs, mixing together herbs that would help heal wounds or ease pain. Though a fairly decent herbalist, his mother was also known for her ferocity, for it was she who taught young Arvold how to protect himself should the need ever arise. Upon turning 18, Arvold was gifted with a stone axe, the blade nice and smooth from months of grinding it down. With this axe he went through the rite of passage, hunting a prize animal by himself. His father had not expected him to return with more than a wolf, but Arvold returned badly wounded with the hulking carcass of a bear. It took a month for him to fully recover, but upon his recovery he was presented with the pelt of the bear made into a hooded cape for him to wear and pass down to his children. For years life was quiet within the tribe, life was normal up until the chief was murdered by a neighboring tribe. Though they grieved deeply for the loss of an elder, they would not let his death go un-avenged. His father took over as chief until the rest of the elders were prepared to elect a new leader, and as his first course of action he demanded the other tribe pay for their crime. The men of the tribe carved tattoos of blue dye into their skin, signifying they were now warriors and were prepared to die in battle. Arvold was one of these warriors, taking over as the second in command of the few men they had. The raid was a success, but not without a cost. Two of their greatest men had died, and the chief of the other tribe had fled before they could find him. The people of Arvolds tribe had aching hearts for many months, but life returned to it's quiet pace. Their migrations had caused the tribe to avoid any conflicts between the major factions of Axios, but one migration the tribe was nowhere to be found. Travelers who knew of this tribe found this odd, for even with the tribe migrating it was still fairly easy to follow their trail. Years had passed and finally one traveler had found what remained of the tribe. The tents were destroyed, and the people had appeared to be slaughtered. Standing in the middle was Arvold, with a bloodied axe in hand. The boy was much older now, a thick beard had formed on his face and he had grown quite larger than when travelers last saw him. No one knows what had happened that fateful night, but some speculate Arvold had murdered the entirety of his tribe. The traveler returned with two soldiers from the nearest kingdom only to find Arvold long gone, it appears he was traveling South. Gossip between townsfolk and the traveler create speculations of what had happened. The traveler believed he had gotten into a heated argument that went too far, one of the citizens had gone as far as to believe Arvold may have been cursed by an evil spirit. The tales lived for but a few days, the people went back to worrying about their own lives, and the tribe was all but forgotten, along with Arvold who now travels alone to the South.

Personality Traits: Arvold can be snappy, he tend to jump the gun and get easily angry. Though on a good day you will find he has a kind heart...if you are of his blood that is.

Ambitions: Arvold aspires to become a better man, filling in the shoes his father could not.

Strengths/Talents: Arvold is really good at getting angry. If pushed too far, he'll snap into a blinding rage and attempt to destroy both friend and foe. Besides combat he's fairly decent at hunting and herbalism.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Arvold has bad people skills, he's also not a very good craftsman.

Appearance: Arvold is a tall pale Nordic character. His hair is a dark brown with the sides of his head cut very short and the middle pulled back from the forehead to the back of his head into a short tail. His scruff face adorns a thick dark brown beard. He usually walks around shirtless, where one can see he is fairly muscular with a blue tattoo that leads from the left of his face all the way down to his palm, where it ends in the shape of a bears head. He can be seen always wearing the pelt of the prize bear he killed, he hardly ever takes it off. The rest of his clothing is mostly cheap leather and thick furs roughly put together.
