Born in 1577 to a pair of peasants in Johannesburg, he from an early age lived a life sheltered from the strife of high politics. From a young age, he would go out with his father and collect the seeds from the heads of wheat his father was reaping down. His mother would then bake bread made from the wheat and scrape a living where possible. Each winter, he’d visit the large markets, where he picked up essential numeracy and literacy skills from the merchants. He knew he’d found his calling when he scrounged up enough to buy a fishing rod, however, as despite his inability to catch anything of worth, his mind ran rampant with whatever junk he’d draw from the sea, making stories for their origins.
However, as the coalition war broke out, and his father, ever an imperial loyalist, went to fight for his homeland. He didn’t return from the first battle, though while Isaak had prepared for such, his mother didn’t take it so well. With his Mother refusing to leave the house, Isaak was left to feed the both of them. The problem worsened when the swift victory the Empire promised seemed to grow ever distant and as more and more land fell to the coalition, fewer farms were available to feed the armies. Isaak toiled for his beloved Empire before around the mid 1590s, fliers began to circulate suggesting an evacuation of Johannesburg. Try as he might to convince his mother to leave, she refused every time, and in 1595 with one big blue cloud, to celebrate him officially becoming an adult in the eyes of most humans, everything he’d ever known was annihilated by the Emperor he’d worked so hard to help.
Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Rational fear of thanhium, magic and explosions.
Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) The best damn fisher in the land!
Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Manual labour, knowing when a problem is beyond him and using his labourers strength in brawls.
Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) He’s technically illiterate & is lacking any substantial guidance on how to act in an empireless world.
Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Isaak is a 5’10 male heartlander specimen, though his travels after the destruction of Johannesburg took him briefly to the Adunians where he got his blue tattoo. He has a pair of wristbands that he sometimes re-ties around his hands while farming but he otherwise wears a simple peasant apron, tunic & trousers. He has light brown hair, green eyes and a rather pale complexion for the amount of time he’s spent outdoors. He has green-hazel eyes and usually a light stubble.
