    Character’s name: Eckart Reynders

    Character’s sex: Male

    Character’s race: Heartlander

    Character’s age: 20

    Biography:

Eckart Reynders was born to a father he never knew. His father was of a minor yet ancient house in the Kingdom of Courland, which used to exist on the land that is now known as Santegia. He was a soldier of king Tobias the first and as a proud Courlander he fought honorably alongside his king. His only dishonorable act was falling in love with a commoner girl who fathered him a child. He left the child in her arms as he went to join his liege's war against Haense, but his lover didn't want to raise the child on her own and so they left the child at the doorstep of a Canonist monastery with a letter containing the father's identity, his royal sigil and a promise to take back the child once the war with Haense is over and the father returns home.

Little Eckart grew up in the monastery without knowing who his parents were and was no different than the rest of the boys. He was educated by the monastery's fat lector who taught him about the wisdom of books and the glory of the Father. He would have become a scribe, copying wise books about the glory of the Father until the rest of his life, had the monastery was not attacked by a lich who murdered all the monks in it. Luckily for Eckart though he was taking a stroll through the woods at that time in order to teach him more about the sacristy silence. The monk that accompanied him screamed in horror when they returned to the bloody monastery and ran to the library to see if all the books and scrolls were safe. Then, he handed out a dusty parchment and gave it to young Eckart and said to him "This letter contains the identity of your father, youngling, and he promised he would come back for you. If I'd have to guess the Father didn't favor him just as much as he didn't favor the rest of us. But you survived, so you can have your freedom now if you like since I have nothing else to offer now."

Eckart Reynders left the abandoned monastery in 1515, being only 14 years old, and has decided to follow his father's footsteps to greatness. He reached Aleksandria where he has received the noblest of titles he could get: a stable boy. At first the stable boys mocked Eckart for pretending to be a noble knight but as time passed they gave in and started playing knights themselves, sparring with sticks as if they were swords in the stables after dark. One time they have decided to try and learn how to ride. Eckart got on the finest horse in the stables – a beautiful black Harian – and walked it in circles to the cheers of the other stable boys. Eckart rode out of the stable, filled with ecstasy, and galloped down the road of Aleksandria's outskirts right into a couple of town guards. Eckart froze in fear when he realized what he has done, and the guards quickly took him off his saddle and started pulling Eckart down the street. This would have been the end of Eckart Reynders if it wasn't for one particular old man, wearing a noble's clothes, who stepped in and demanded that the guards leave the boy alone. He had to pay a few coins to each of them to ease their memory but then they left Eckart alone and went on their way. The old man was in fact a knight who was looking for an able squire and none of his squires so far were good enough for him. He agreed to take Eckart as a squire because he saw in him potential, but only if Eckart trained as hard as he could, do the best he can for him and never disobey him. Eckart gladly accepted his savior's proposal, and for years he travelled with him around the Empire, learning how to ride, lance and properly carry a sword, as well as camping and foraging.

Now the old knight passed away from old age and left his sword in his squire's hands. No matter what Eckart does next, he will surely find a way to earn greatness for himself and be remembered through the ages.
