    In-Character Information

    Character’s name: Ryan Francis

    Character’s sex: Male

    Character’s race: Human, Heartlander

    Character’s age: 26

    Biography:

Ryan Francis, born to Ivan and Mary Francis, was brought into Axios at the turn of the century, in the year 1600. His father was raised in the city of Johanesburg, and served as an Imperial landsknecht for many years. As the Year of the Four Emperors came and passed, though, Ivan had decided to resign from his position and flee to the newly formed Coalition, valuing Lord Tobias Stanton's claims and his ability to lead. Ivan's choice ended up paying off as the Coalition trounced the Empire, before forming into the Kingdom of Courland. Working as a caravan guard during and after the war, he had made a living, but in the years after Courland's creation, Aleksandria's construction began; a perfect opportunity for work. While Ivan was laying stone for the new city, he met Ryan's future mother. She was a younger woman, working in the kitchens feeding many of the men building the city. Ivan married her as the city finished construction, and had their firstborn child two years later. They named him Ryan, after one of Ivan's honored commanding officers during his tenure in the Orenian military.

As years passed, Ryan grew, his childhood spent in the bustling streets and shops of the city. His father quit working as a caravan guard for the early years of his life, choosing instead to find work locally and raise his son. He did so until Ryan reached the age of 12 years, when he signed him off in an apprenticeship. The Francis boy had spent a lot of his free time speaking to travelers of Axios, and was eager to get out of the cramped space their family called home, so he did not object when his father proposed the idea. He was signed off to a carpenter near the center of the city, on a contract until adulthood. Because of the distance, he was required to live in the shop, and was unable to visit his parents more than once or twice a month. Despite this, Ryan relished his time woodworking, not only learning how to support himself and his future family, but he was also provided with news from people who came in and out of the shop. It was as such that he heard about the dissolving of the Kingdom and the formation of the Principality in 1615, which meant the establishment of Imperial rule once more. Two years later, news of the Santegian rebellion and encroaching war poured out of the mouths of customers, bringing Ryan into the full reality of the rising tensions in the Empire. After word came of the coup within the very city, though, he began forming his own views of the issues at hand. Chosing in his mind he would side with the Orenians due to his childhood prejudice against the other races and numerous other reasons if the time came, he worked patiently, listening with rapture when visitors came and spoke of current events.

Two more years passed, and as Ryan heard more about the expanding possibility of an Imperial defeat, he planned for where he would go once his apprenticeship finished, and how he would get there. The suddeness of the day when his father and the master signed off on the contract allowing him to leave, however, struck him. Having reached adulthood, it was also time he left the Francis household. His father, Ivan, gave him his blessing and a small amount of currency, sending him on his way. Ryan chose to stay in Aleksandria for a while, biding his time and looking for job oppurtunity. This quickly changed, however, when the Empire finally threw in the towel, dissolving the Principality and giving the city of Aleksandria to the newly founded Kingdom of Santegia. True to his planning as a younger man, he picked up and left the city, refusing to be ruled by any other than the Orenians. He set off towards Adelburg, intending to enlist.

    Personality Traits:

Ryan had always had a desire to travel, enhanced by the fact he was penned up in a carpenter's shop the entirety of his teens. He also had a distrust and dislike for things or people out of the ordinary, anything magic or related to it espiecally. Learned from growing up in an almost entirely human city, he's also prejudiced towards those who aren't of his race.

    Ambitions:

After learning the basics of combat from his father, he'd always considered following in his footsteps, and perhaps finding work in the military. Now that it seemed the Empire needed to rebuild after losing to the Second Coalition, he has a strong desire to enlist in the Orenian forces, and fight for his values.

    Strengths/Talents:

He has a decent grasp for swinging a sword, and a fair amount of knowledge in cooking and preparing food, but his only real skill would be that of a carpenter and joiner. He was trained by a master as an apprentice for numerous years.

    Weaknesses/Inabilities:

Due to his upbringing, he lacks the ability to read beyong a certain point, though he can make out most words. Arithmatic and natural studies are completely foreign to him, and he has no formal education regarding history or other scholarly arts.

    Appearance:

Ryan stands at roughly six feet, with dark hair and grey eyes. His skin is pale but not extensively so, and he bears many small scars along his arms from his time working in front of the forge or at one of the benches. His hands are also extremely calloused; more indications of his apprenticeship. A trimmed beard hangs from his chin, and his nose is slightly crooked from a fight he got into as a child.

    Skin:
