What is roleplaying?:When an individual acts out a fictional or non-fictional character with other people in a made up or historic setting – like a play being made up on the spot.
What is metagaming?: Using information, strategies and tactics out of roleplay against an individual/a group of roleplayers as a way of gaining the upper hand over the other roleplayers. (For example, John's weakness is fire. His opponent stands before him, wielding a sword, the only thing that he is good at. His opponent's character has never met John before, and so does not know his strengths or weaknesses. However, his opponent had researched on the LOTC forums and have found out that his weakness is fire - when the battle commences, the opponent ditches the sword, "magically" conjures up fire from behind his back and shoves it down John's back, severely injuring him and thus winning the battle...)
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?:Being overpowered, too powerful and not listening to what other people do or say without any thought about the lore, atmosphere and setting, purely to win or prove themselves the best. (For example, Helen is a traveller, just starting out on a path that would take her to another village. In this instant, she has decent traveller equipment, which she had managed to acquire through months of hard work. Along her path, she spots a mysterious figure which she cannot depict to be entirely an elf, human, or any race she had seen before. This mysterious figure challenges her to a duel to the death, which Helen declines. Despite this, the mysterious figure "releases the most magic possible in the world" and forces Helen to fight him. Helen reluctantly agrees, but the mysterious figure "dodges" every single one of her attack. Frustrated, Helen tells the mysterious figure - outside of role-play - that they cannot do every single thing that they had just done, as it would not fit in with the lore and ultimately is not possible in the role-play world. The mysterious figure responds by claiming that he is the descendant of the highest house in the world and that he has everything at his disposal, that he is extremely capable of all magic ever known and would always win in melee and ranged combat. Finally, the mysterious figure then simply "kills" Helen without her consent, claiming her to be dead to everyone who passes.)

Pearl was born in 1617. She is now 18 years of age. She lives in the Mali'Fenn capital, the Citadel of Acael, having grown up there all her life. She lives with her parents, Lesla Gi'leen and Lent Dorian, and is the only child in the house, which her parents had acquired before her birth. In her early years, she was taught and educated by her parents, and therefore made few friends outside her home. She enjoys good food and drinks; it is fortunate then that her mother is an experienced cook. Thanks to the strict laws in the citadel, Pearl grew up facing little, if no prejudice against her by other people.
When she was not busy at home being educated or completing chores, she used to often travel down to the base of the citadel, observing the animals and plants that lived there – her favourite animals were the elks and the snow leopards, and she often reflected on where they lived and what they did during the day. She made the trip several times a week – it was only natural then, that she encountered the military several times, though she did well to stay in their good books. She herself admired the military groups that would march past, noting their weapons and their responses to the citizens and their commanders. And so it was that at the age of 15, she started training to become an officer, where her talent with the sword and the spear became apparent, despite being very new with the weapons.
Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?)Pearl is intelligent, clever, and somewhat of a reserved person. She keeps to herself and treasures quietness. Yet behind all this burns a fierce fire, fuelled by the close relationships she has with her family and her few friends, whom she protects from any who threaten them. She enjoys learning new things and is quick to implement them with her existing skill set. She also enjoys martial arts, adept specifically with the sword and the spear. She dislikes it when people shame her family, her friends and herself, and prefers to remain quiet in a conversation.
Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?)She aspires to protect her loved ones from harm and to learn and gain knowledge, always looking for new ways, tactics and strategies to come out on top.
Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?)Great agility and dexterity, she is capable of using sword weapons and spear weapons and smaller, lighter shields to some extent. She is perhaps unusually quick on her feet. She has keen eyesight and is a quick learner, being able to implement new skills soon after she has learnt them. As a result, she is an observant individual, able to pick out an opponent's strength and weaknesses, or small details in her surroundings in general.
Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?)Although she has a deep interest for magic, she has only recently started learning about magic, and so she is looking to develop her understanding and skills on magic in the hopes of fully integrating them into her life.
Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?)She has brilliant snow-white long hair and dark purple eyes. She has a crimson scarf which she always wears with her wherever she goes. Her skin is fairly pale, and she is 5'7 (170 cm tall) with a fairly slim build.
