The Sylric name has been around for centuries. The founder, Thandir Sylric I, was one of the original Snow Elves, having followed the Tundraks to Lomal and his World Altar. However, due to the scattering of the Snow Elves, most of the history from then to The Realm of Anthos was lost and has never been recovered.

The Sylrics found themselves to be weak and unskillful at first due to the drastic changes their bodies underwent. Thus, the head of the family of the time, Althidon Sylric, sought out hard labor for their family namesake. They would be the ones to become the backbone of the Princedom, not only through hard labor but also through the military. Throughout the years they were always the first ones to the mines or to the forest and always the last ones to leave the forge. Working became their blood and thus from then on all Sylrics, male and female alike, came to be among the strongest of the Snow Elves. Althidon however, never left Anthos; where he perished after naming his heir Thandir Sylric II as the new Patriarch.

Thandir II lead the Sylrics’ into Athera, where they once again backed the Tundrak Bloodline. During their time in Athera, the Sylrics did the work of thousands of men with only 300 strong among them, their hammers and chisels ringing loud throughout the hallowed tundra’s of Hesin’fin. As all races left Athera, Thandir was still the head of the Sylric namesake and followed the Tundraks to their new home, Tar’sil, on The Isles of Vailor. Whilst living in Vailor, Thandir II found love and marriage. He had two sons and two daughters, a rarity among the Snow Elves. His firstborn Ailduin was named his heir, followed by a daughter named Arthion, a second son named Selgauth, and the youngest daughter named Velatha.

When the Iron Uzg attacked The Princedom on Vailor, the Sylrics lost more than ¾ of its people during the defense of the outer city of Tar’sil. All those who survived fled from the Princedom, with Thandir II and Ailduin, his son and heir, remaining, having felt obligated to stay and carry out their steadfast heritage of supporting the Snow Elves in their entirety.

As Vailor came to an end, Thandir II passed away on the journey to The Isles of Axios where Ailduin was left to shoulder the Sylric household, his siblings all abandoning him and the rest of their Snow Elven kin…

Ailduin reclaimed their position as the hardiest and most industrious of the Snow Elves. By doing so he brought a new age for the Sylrics’, with some of his siblings even returning to the Princedom; at long last proud to bear the name Sil’siimah--The Sword Tower of the Mali’fenn.

Ailduin would lead his family to Arcas after the Vaeyl destroyed Atlas; passing away on the 7th of The Deep Cold, 1716, after an act of heroism to save Crown Prince Aelthos Tundrak during a mining excursion to collect precious metals for the Princedom. His son Thandir III would return to Fenn shortly after to pay his respects and accustom himself to his family while a new Patriarch lead them. Airebys Sylric, nephew to Celaena and Ailduin Sylric, would take up the position to carry on Ailduin’s legacy for their family.

    Personality & Culture

Sylrics are known to be hardworking, determined and very focused at everything they do, whether that is being a soldier of the Ivae’fenn or taking up a role among the ranks of the Bilok’thuln. Thus, many would consider them more serious than other bloodlines, though one can note when asked a question, Sylrics tend to be rather blunt; straightforward and to the point. Despite their often brash or stubborn behaviors, Sylrics can be kind and respectful towards their kin. The Griffin, their sigil, perfectly reflects a Sylric’s state of mind: loyal, clear and determined.

The Sylrics are very big on performing private wake ceremonies before a public wake or funeral. Additionally, if someone wishes to be married into the bloodline, they must first speak with the Patriarch of the Sil’siimah, as it would be of the utmost disrespect to wed one of their family without first getting their blessing. This is primarily due to their militaristic, patriarchal family lifestyle from generations of war.

    Professions & Specialties

Because of their industrious capabilities, they can often be seen performing scholarly duties in the Library of Fenn, crafting wares for the general public, tending crops or lugging raw materials from the depths of Arcas.

Alongside this reputation of being hard workers, the Sylrics have a reputation for being competent warriors and active in ‘fennic politics.

    Physical Traits & Characteristics

With all their hard work, Sylrics tend to be muscular, with a strong, well-built frame to them. They typically have white to silver hair, but there have been some with blonde. Their eye colors have most notably ranged from grey to blue eyes, as well as the rare occurrences of emerald or amethyst.

    Style of Combat

Because of their mighty physiques, they are often on the front lines during times of war. Their weapons of choice include Longswords, Greataxes or a Warhammer and a shield, though other types of weapons are also used. To stare down a Sylric upon the battlefield is no comforting feat, as their strong posture, large size, and choice of weaponry makes for an intimidating sight. The Sylrics have their own custom-made armor which boasts heavy steel and cleated boots to increase their time on the field of battle.

    Ceremonies

    Wryvun’ahern, the newborn ceremony

When a new Sylric is brought into the world, a special ceremony is held called Wryvun’ahern. This ceremony celebrates the life of that individual, prayer be that they lead a healthy and successful life that they may join their kin and ancestors in Wyrvun’s realm of eternal slumber: Aira’fin.

Bilok’ihnsil, the coming of age ceremony

When a Sylric is welcomed into the family, Bilok’ihnsil is held to prove that they can return to their people as a true Sylric. Each participant must forge themselves their own personal weapon; gathering all the materials themselves and by themselves alone. No help shall be offered to them, as they must build their own forge and use what they knowledge and materials gathered to create a beautiful piece of weaponry, from the largest of Greataxes to the smallest of daggers. When they finish and feel that it is worthy of the Sylric name, they are to return to the Manor and present it to their Bloodline Head. Once approved, a hunt ensues to test the durability of the weapon. A feast is then followed provided by the spoils of the hunt. As the feast ends the patriarch approaches the child, presenting him the Sylric Insignia, to be branded on to their weapon as well as stitched onto their cloak. This is to mark that they are now a true Sylric.

    “Ito nae elahern’wyrvun, ah’lliran!”

Welcome to the Bilok’thuln, the greatest industry this side of the Great Ice Wall, and the backbone of the Princedom of Fenn!

    History and Purpose

      Reveal hidden contents

The Bilok’thuln is the backbone of the Princedom of Fenn. It is a group of individuals known as Uhier’sair’thuln, who are entrusted with the highest responsibility of all: to build the Princedom of Fenn and provide it with the resources to keep functioning. They have built every city, citadel, and palace that have housed Mali’fenn from the start of time. Structures such as The Citadel of Acael, The Tundrak Palace, and The City of Tahu’lareh are some, to name a few. Such works of awe, beauty and serviceability would not have been made possible without the Bilok’thuln.

However, they are not just builders of such great structures, as they also supply the Princedom of Fenn with all forms of resources to further its survival and prosperity. The Bilok’thuln mines resources, smiths armor and weapons, cooks food, tends to farmlands and animals, hunts, and fish. Without the Bilok’thuln and their Uheir’sair’thuln performing the dangerous role of the Narn’sair’magara, the Ivae’fenn would have gone into battle without armor and weapons throughout all the wars the Mali’fenn have endured.

    Infrastructure

    Uhier’sair’thuln:

The beginner level of the Bilok’thuln. This rank is the initiation rank, which most members usually keep for the duration of their membership to the guild. This rank comes with a set quota that each member must produce to guarantee their place of membership within the guild.

    Annil’sair:

The manager of an individual Bilok’thuln division. This title comes with greater responsibility among the Bilok’thuln. Individuals who excel with gathering resources and surpass the base quota are placed above their fellow Uhier’sair’thuln, making sure that those under them are able to reach their quota--and ideally surpass it.

    Deputy Exchequer:

The Deputy Exchequer is second in command of the Bilok’thuln. This title can only be given by the Grand Exchequer. He has the authority to accept members to the guild and give a say in whom deserves a promotion. He also takes care of the Annil’sair, making sure that they are performing their duties accurately. The Deputy also has the authority to update the notice board for potential jobs. If the Grand Exchequer is busy or away he may need to take charge of inventory, the storehouse and ultimately the vault. The current Deputy Exchequer is Airebys Sylric.

    Grand Exchequer:

The Grand Exchequer is the Leader of the Bilok’thuln. This rank belongs to one and only one individual and can only be appointed by the Grand Prince. The Grand Exchequer is in charge of accepting members and promoting members. He also is in charge of resource management, inventorization the distribution center as well as fulfilling any citizen of requests for materials. The current Grand Exchequer is Ailduin Sylric.

    Roles

There are many roles/divisions within the Bilok’thuln, each having its own respective benefits and accesses throughout the Princedom of Fenn. Every Uhier’sair’thuln must perform a minimum of two roles (excluding Bilok’sair) to better the Princedom, but they are able and encouraged to select more:

Nor’sair: The Farmers of the fields. These are individuals who work the fields for crops to produce food for the Princedom of Fenn, such as wheat, pumpkins, melons, potatoes, carrots, sugar cane, cactus, and beetroot.

Bilokonn’sair: The Breeders or Farmers of animals. These individuals raise animals for their respective purposes. Cows are reared for their milk, meat, and hide. Chickens are raised for their meat, and feathers. Sheep are tended to for their meat, and wool. Rabbits are raised for their meat, and hide. Horses are reared to supply the Ivae’fenn.

Narn’sair’magara: The Miners. These individuals risk their lives by diving into the caves to gather precious metals and gemstones. Metals are gathered for tools, weapons, and armor. Gemstones are extracted for jewelry. Not only do they gather precious metals and gemstones, but they also gather quantities of sand, dirt, and stone for building and crafting purposes.

Lom’sair’ame: The Lumberjacks. These individuals are responsible for chopping down forests and replanting them, to gather wood for all that is needed to craft a wide variety of things from simple objects such as bowls and spoons, to boats and bows

Orrar’sair: The Hunters and Fishers. These individuals are responsible for hunting beasts of all kinds, ranging from boars, moose, and bears to the fish of the seas and rivers, as well as the creatures of the dark. Their spoils go to supply the Princedom with other food sources and assorted supplies.

Bilok’sair: The Engineers and Builders. These individuals are responsible for any construction and feats of engineering within the Princedom of Fenn, being the ones to construct siege weaponry, engineering marvels, and the ones who actually construct the Princedom’s cities, citadels, fortresses and strongholds. While the role is considered prestigious, it cannot be counted among the minimal two roles required for enlistment in the Bilok’thuln.

    Base Quotas

All Uhier'sair'thuln must meet their quota if they wish to keep their membership. Which ever roles an Uhier'sair'thuln signs up for, they must complete the quota. There will be a log within the Bilok'thuln so that you can keep track of your gatherings.

They range of multiple things such as building carts to helping to build way-shrines and/or forts outside of the capital, Tahu’lareh. Each job is different and may be represented by different rates of pay. The base rate for all extra jobs will be 150 mina per contract. If you fail to make the contract you simply will not be paid.
