Slowly raveling the pounds of rope from the ground, I looked at my colleague and smiled. “You know what? This, this right here is what work is all about. This rope has tens, hundreds, hell even thousands of little pieces of cotton just to make an inch of it. Each inch of rope acts as a day of your life. It can be a long rope used to harbor and pull in a ship, or it can be a rope small enough to tie a knot around your shoe. But hell, if I’ve learned anything, it’s not the length of the rope that matters, it’s how you use the length you’re given to do your job.” I tied a knot around the pillar on the corner of the home. “Make your days count, because one day you can lose it all. And trust me, Losing all you had is worse than losing a sliver of what you had gathered.”
