Upon being approached, Rutger had been in the midst of staring up and about the fortified city. Compact walls, towering buildings within their closure, and the sounds of the waves crashing back and forth made him forget he had stepped off his ferry. Snapping back to reality by the man's announcement, Rutger returned the smile with a polite, rueful grin. Mannerisms were something he had to refine himself when traveling, and he hoped they wouldn't be too 'unsophisticated' for the gentleman, "Adventure, I suppose. I found this city on a map and thought this would be my next destination. Work was also mentioned during my travels, and with my last coin spent on this ferry, I reckon I should get started rather soon."
Offering a moment to clear his throat and dust off his overcoat, Rutger spared a moment to glance around his surroundings before turning back to the gentleman, "Do you know where I may find a tavern? Or perhaps an apothecary? I wouldn't want to waste any more of your time."
