You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Anastasia glances around the room uncertain and tired after her long journey, finding the conditions relatively safe, she relaxes and straightens her posture. At last, Anastasia meets the hag's eyes, she is ugly. Not the kind of ugly that comes from old age, but the kind bred of unfortunate genetics. The hag raises an expectant eyebrow and Anastasia realizes she still hasn't said anything. Determining it safest to play dumb before showing all her cards she says, "And who is it you think I am?"
In truth she does not know what the hag wants from her, she only stopped in this dingy town to send the letter gripped between her fingers. While her relationship with her father is strained at best - due to his indulgence in mead and worse - she does still write home to her mother occasionally despite her resentment. Anastasia is a paradox, mature and childish, stoic and wild, a product of being parentified at a young age she struggles between her more childish nature and the maturity she was forced into due to her father's proclivities.
