    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is allowing information you have but your character does not influence the actions of said character. Such as, avoiding a trap you accidentally saw written in your GM’s notes.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is giving your character more skill/power than they have legitimately obtained, or having them accomplish impossible tasks like dodging a thousand arrows. It can also occur in the form of removing another player character’s agency. Such as, “Billy punches Timmy’s teeth out.” Instead of, “Billy throws his fist at Timmy’s jaw, aiming to punch his teeth out.”

"Just passing through," the young man muttered, his gaze averting awkwardly away from the well-dressed gentleman. The city was bustling, air rich with the scent of spices and perfumes. Rugs of many colors, and a litany of strange fruits Ivan had never seen before came as a welcome distraction. "P-pardon. . . excuse me."  

 

Then, skirting to the side, he started to wander away from the boisterous stranger, hobbling on his cane. "I'll just be on my way. T-thanks."
