Roleplay Scenario & Backstory
You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Faeyln gave a small jump back, reaching for his arrows in instinct “Oh- wow you are alive-” He exclaimed in surprise as he stared in amazement at the corpse-like woman “Wait! No- No I didn't mean- ah… sorry that was rude” he shook his head and relaxed his muscles
He fumbled for the cushion before sitting down and raising his hand “I am Faelyn! Faelyn Ryul!” a brightness entered his tone, as though he was oblivious to any threat. He dropped his hand down to his knee “Not too difficult of a name I hope, means- Ah I can't quite remember! Has something to do with fairies though” he rambled
He paused, “Oh yes, my story… hm where to begin” he leaned back slightly and stared up at crooked poles of the tent. “Can you tell me yours if I tell you mine?” he murmured quietly, shifting his gaze back to the woman with a child-like curiosity.
Faelyn nodded to her response “So” he began “I do not have much of a story” Faelyn looked up at the floating candles “For the most part I was raised in the redwood forest, about… North-east from here” he lifted his hand, motioning towards the general direction. “Lived in a small cabin with my family” He got up to his feet, dusting himself off as he walked to a small table.
“Hm I cannot remember having all too many friends since we were so far from the other elves” he lifted up a mug and mindlessly took a sip of the contents, spitting it back into the mug with a sour expression “awful tea you have here-... ahem anyways. I have done my best to make a few friends here and there from travelling around once I left my home” he smiled “That is how I have found myself all the way here!”
“I moved to stay closer to the other wood elves” he droned on “I have a fairly normal childhood I suppose, but now! My life is more exciting! I even have travel companions who-” his voiced hitched as eh froze “Wait- Where- where are my travel companions- Oh no I must have left them in the previous town” he groaned as he quickly heaved his backpack onto his back, making a run for the exist “Farewell! I will be back to hear your story!”
