You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Example: I stare at her cautiously, and after some hesitation I answer "Well, I come from a broken household, one of drunken debauchery and physical abuse. I ran away from home when I was 16 and I've been on my own since. For a while I nomadically traveled from village to village, surviving on the good will of people and luck. Eventually I was mugged and stripped of everything I had to my name, which wasn't much to begin with, and decided I needed to learn how to defend myself. I stole some drunk fools sword one knight and practiced swinging it until I could properly wield. I have little to no technique when I'm in combat, but it's enough to get me by, it's not like I look for trouble anyways." I pausent, trying to read her expression, "So, do you mind telling me who you are?"
