You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
*Koah begins by sitting down and adjusting his leather apron, trying to prevent things from falling from the pockets on his chest* "You've been expecting me?" *He'd nod* "I assume you've looked at the letter I sent ahead." *He'd smile* "My name's Koah, though most people call me Carrot." *He'd chuckle* "I'm a inventor. How about yourself?" *he'd wait patiently for the woman to respond*

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Avoiding powergaming is easy, but it can be hard to see in the moment when emotions are high. The first step is to remember this is RP, not reality, and at the end of the day we should be able to be friends even if our characters are beefing. Secondly, you should only emote your actions, and give a character a chance to react. They can pass up that offer, but the chance should be given.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts RP at it's core by preventing characters the satisfaction of actually discovering something, or on the other side successfully hiding a secret. It makes your character not realistic for the environment and makes them seem all knowing, leading to strife.
