How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Personally, to avoid powergaming myself, I stick to the limitations of my character and remember what he/she can do to avoid unnecessary powergaming. If my character doesn't know how to fight for example, then I cannot roleplay them fighting.

How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It ruins suspension of disbelief. It's very difficult to roleplay when, for example, your character is having a one-on-one conversation in-character, but out of character, they tell their friend, and this then prompts their character to intervene in that said one-on-one conversation.

Metagaming in this way could imply ulterior motives OOC that could help characters IC. At the end of the day, we're here to roleplay our characters, not promote an agenda.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"I ain't got time righ'now to tell ya a storeh!" sternly says the Merchant Dwarf. "I need ta' press on. Moneh awaits!"

Du'muh proceeds to storm off in hopes of finding his business partner, but is stopped in his tracks after hearing the elderly lady play around with a silver trinket in a jar.

Intrigued and curious about the trinket, Du'muh returns to the lady slowly.

"Excuse me, ma'am. Where, by happenstance, did ye manage ta' find that type of 'Thry'?'' Questions Du'Muh.

'' T'was a long time ago, Dwarf. A long time ago, indeed. I was told to wait for you, should you ever so happen to step foot here one day...'' The hag shows a genuine, but faint smile in reminiscence.

Du'Muh takes a step forward slightly.

"I do not recall eva' tellin' you what Thry meant. Where did you get it? That specific type of Dwarven Silver does not step foot out a' Urguan."

"Perhaps a trade then?" The old hag shakes the jar. ''Tell me your tale.''

Du'Muh hesitates for a moment before pressing forward and taking the plunge.

''Well... I hail from Urguan, as ya prolly' inferred...''

Du'Muh strides over to take a seat, keeping an eye on the silver.

''I was... Born to a family that made weaponry for the other dwarves. We made swords, axes, weapons a' all sorts... Yet, we never used any ourselves...''

The Dwarf rubbed his hands together.

''I wasn't priveh ta... Promoting death, so I left tha' business and went on to find my own path...''

''Yet, you still find interest in this silver?'' questions the hag.

''I-it could fetch a mighty price in mah trade! I could also use it to create somethin'! Perhaps some-''

''Weapons?'' The Hag interjects.

Du'Muh pauses for a moment.

"If tha' need demands it then...'' Du'Muh says sternly.

''Hard times are not a justification to break your values, dear Dwarf." responds the hag.

''I care nawt about the usage of mah weapons to the wider masses, madam. I onleh mentioned how mah famileh caused promoted the harm of our own. I would not sell weapons to otha' Dwarves''

The hag chuckles her squeaky chuckle before slowly standing and tossing the silver over to the Dwarf.

''Hehe... The curse of Iblees still plagues even the brightest of you Dwarves to this day... How unfortunate''

Du'muh catches the jar and inspects it.

''But wait- How did ye get thi-"

When Du'Muh looks back up, he notices the hag has disappeared.

He looks around before quickly attaching the jar around his toolbelt and making his way over to his initial destination.

Quick Character Bio:

Du'Muh was born to a typical Dwarven family of Blacksmiths who created small-time iron weaponry for the Dwarven race. Growing up in Urguan, he experienced a lot of war, and had to witness a lot of attacks, but mostly his own race attacking them back with the weapons his OWN family made.

Disillusioned by promotion of destruction it caused for his people, Du'Muh grew to hate this aspect of his family, and despite his family's protests, Du'Muh would proceed to venture off to follow his aspiration of creating a stall to feed the hungry with his famous Dwarven brew.

Due to this unexpected mindset and rare ideal, Du'Muh grew up not particularly taken in a positive light from other Dwarves for this nature can be seen as cowardly and odd. Yet, is still accepted as a tradesman due to his pursuit to at least provide brew to the rest of his bretheren.

However, due to twisted views and insights, Du'Muh does ponder about creating weaponry for other races justifying it through apathy towards the war of other races amongst themselves. Du'Muh still struggles with these thoughts himself to this day.

On his adventure, he managed to befriend another outcast of a person. An Orc who is also aversed to war and focuses more on trade. They both proceed to get along very well and even think about starting their own trade business together.

A long and hard journey ahead and with ideas of trade in his mind, Du'Muh sets forth to see what Aevos has to offer, and hopes it won't cause him too much trouble.
