You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
[A side note: The lore regarding the Eastern Farfolk races and nations on the wiki seem incomplete/outdated. I could not find any pieces of lore regarding any current settlements of the Eastern Farfolk including the Li-Ren, which my character is, and the Oyashiman. Thus, in the passage below, I took the liberty to assume the nation of Yong-Ping still exists even though I know that the wiki stated that Yong-Ping has been destroyed just to give my character an appropriate location of origin. I hope that is okay, and if not, I am more than happy to edit my response and give her an origin fitting of current world lore.]
Ru-Yi gestures for her little brother to stand by the entrance before approaching the cushion and gracefully taking a seat. She adjusts her hanfu into a comfortable position and folds her hands in her lap, giving the old hag a calm yet inquisitive expression. After a moment of silence, she begins to speak in a gentle voice, tinged with a subtle hint of nervousness. "Greetings, wise one. I have journeyed far from the eastern lands of Yong-Ping, accompanied by my younger brother. We are en route to the Principality of Celia'nor to partake in the joyous Lunar Festival. However, our path led us to this swampy town, and curiosity compelled us to explore further." She pauses for a moment, with her eyes searching for answers hidden within the old hag's weathered features. "You mentioned expecting me. May I inquire how you came to know of my arrival? And what knowledge or guidance do you hold for me on this path?" Her voice maintains a respectful tone, her body leaning slightly forward as she awaits the old hag's response, eager to unravel the mysteries that brought her to this tent.
