You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"I'm sorry I didn- what do you mean you were expecting me?" I look cautiously at the woman, and the tent around her, but curiosity forces me to listen and sit on the cushion and begin to tell my tale.
"My name is James, James Kaelin, lets see where do I start... I guess at the begining, before I was born, My father Faren Kaelin was a strange man, or at least thats what I gather from the stories my mom tells me, when she met him he seemed to really love her, he convinced her that moving into the woods together was the best way to live, despite my mothers family telling her not to trust him, she did, the consequences were bitter sweet. about a week after they moved my mothers hometown was attacked and burned to the ground, they only know this when running into a traveler who passed through the town. my mother was distraught and they soon found themselves a quiet place nestled in the corner of the woods, far away from anything even remotely known... Some time went by went my mother discovered she was pregnant, with me, she said it was the happiest day of her life and when she told me father, well, appearently he kissed her, walked out the door and never came home. that happiest day turned to another of sorrow. My Mom, Sarah Kaelin was now alone, deep in the woods with a baby on the way, she could've left, she could've found a new place to live, but no, she made a vow to a man that they would live here, even if it mean't she would have to do it alone, she kept to her promise... she always did that, kept to her promises." A few tears stream down my cheeks and a small soft smile forms. " When I was born, she said I looked like someone who would change the world as much as I already changed her, so I was named James, after her father. I was a adventurous kid, always staying out late exploring or doing something stupid, but when ever my mother needed me, I was there, rain or shine, day or night, nothing would stop me. She was always telling me stories from her growing up, about the world and the people in it, great tales of long ago battles, beautiful cities, and heros who saved us time and time again... I always loved to just sit and listen to them for hours. Things I wish I could do again with her... but sadly and regretfully my dear mother caught some kind of illness and for the last 4 years of her life I had to watch as it slowly destroyed the beautiful woman that raised me, but even in the pain she taught me much, she told me what to do and where to go after she was gone, and I've listened to every word, after she died, I didn't breakdown, I just buried her, mourned for a few hours and then wiped my tears, stood up and left. I carried a few traveling supplies and a map, and found my way here, where now I am talking to you ma'am telling you all this. hopefully you can point me to where I belong." I say happily showing the map to her.
