How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is the usage of information from outside of the game that your character couldn’t possibly know. For example, if my friend tells me about a specific resource node in discord, I can’t simply go directly to harvest the resource. Another example could be a magic user attempting to cast a secret spell that can only be taught by a teacher just because the player read about the spell in the forums and thought it was cool.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Power gaming is when a player gives their character more power than it should realistically have in any scenario. It could be the case that a player is trying to make their character kill a creature much larger than it in a single hit. Or it could be as simple as a very old, frail character being able to run the entire way to another city.
