How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Prioritize roleplay over winning, roleplay isn't about the way you want your story to end, its about the story you write with others, so prioritizing roleplay over winning will avoid powergaming. Also some communication would help.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Unfair advantages, which will lead to frustration
    Status: Accepted

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

I maintain a vigilant and composed demeanor, my senses heightened by the unfamiliar and eerie surroundings. I cautiously approach the old hag's tattered tent, taking note of my surroundings and keeping my hand near my weapon, ready for any unexpected developments.

Upon entering the tent and being addressed by the old hag, I nod in acknowledgment, my eyes sharp and observant. I give a curt, but respectful response, speaking with confidence and a hint of wariness.

"I've come to this town seeking answers and perhaps assistance," I'd reply, my tone measured. "There are challenges and threats on the horizon that require my attention. If you have knowledge or guidance to offer, I'm willing to hear it."

While taking the offered seat on the cushion, I keep a watchful eye on the old hag, ready to react to any potential dangers or unexpected revelations. My warrior instincts would keep me alert even in this mystifying environment.

Background story:

Zephyr was born in a small village nestled in a tranquil valley surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills. From a young age, she displayed an unwavering determination and a fierce spirit that set her apart from her peers. Her parents, skilled hunters and protectors of the village, recognized her potential early on and began training her in the ways of combat.

As she grew, Zephyr honed her skills with various weapons, from the swift precision of archery to the art of wielding a sword. Her exceptional agility and quick reflexes made her a formidable opponent, even among the seasoned warriors of her village.

When Zephyr was just sixteen, her peaceful life was shattered when a horde of marauding bandits descended upon her village. She fought alongside her parents and fellow villagers, defending their homes with unwavering courage. Despite their valiant efforts, the attackers overwhelmed them, and the village was left in ruins.

With her parents tragically lost in the battle, Zephyr was left with a burning desire for vengeance and a deep sense of responsibility. She set out on a solitary journey, determined to become a warrior of unmatched prowess and to bring justice to those who had destroyed her village.

Over the years, Zephyr's travels took her to distant lands where she encountered a diverse array of cultures and learned from skilled mentors. She embraced not only the art of combat but also the wisdom of those she met along the way. Her journey wasn't just about vengeance; it became a quest for self-discovery and a search for inner peace.
