You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Flinging a strand of hair that was out of place behind my long tender ears, I sat down in front of the lady, sheepishly examining my surroundings.
"Well-" I paused, furrowing my brow as I think of where to begin. "My name is Sogrien Geliel, my name literally means 'daughter of the drink'-- my father was a drunk you see." A giggle escaped past my lips. "Aaaanyway." I settle into the cushion, as if my backside was attempting to find the most accommodating position. "I'm an 'adventurer', sort of. Wanderer more like. I left home at a hundred years of age and decide to champion myself a woman of the common-man." I explained, twiddling with my dagger, dragging it across the cobbled stones that make the street. "I am by no means a goodie two-shoes worry you not, but I do my best to help those in need. other than that-" A pebble some man who crossed the road and kicked into my face caused me to raise an annoyed eyebrow "Where was I? . . . oh right, I. Love. Alcohol. Bring me fine wine and I shall not only dine I will marry that bottle." The woman's disapproving gaze caused me to change trajectory quickly. "Rigghhht...uh- hm.." I pause again, clearly for dramatic effect "I grew up in a normal house to a single mother who did her best to keep me out of trouble. I trained with the blade and bow most of the day; the rest of it helping with household chores. We were a quaint people really. nothing too noteworthy. My mum doesn't like the fact I'm out here freely mingling with whatever comes my way. 'You better not bring me a common-man or worse when you return!'" I imitate my mothers voice, raising a fist of defiance. "That's my mother, like it? been working on the imitation for a few years when I was alone in the road."
I let out a soft sigh.
"But she needn't worry. last two men I was interested in died so."
I let the silence land, not really having much more to add. sure, I wasn't the most interesting elf around-- but there are some things even I don't talk about; no matter how intoxicated I get.
We all have our secrets, I just don't share mine as readily as others.
