You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Excited to finally be recognized, "Ah yes, finally someone whose heard of me in this off the path town." Sitting on the cushion as he continues talking, "Well as you no doubt already know, my name is Eldril Balanor, Owner of the Moonclove trading company." Not seeing any reaction from the old hag, he continues in a fervor, "Born in a small village in the Crownlands, my father was the village trader. He was all I had as my mother died during my birth." Still seeing no reaction, he carries on but with less excitement, " Growing up I was always on the road with my father learning how to trade and broker deals becoming a self-proclaimed master at it. When i became 18 i decided to open my own trading company, the Moonclove Trading Company, I have become a semi well known trading company. Although we would still be considered a small trading company, my aspiration is to become the biggest and best trading company in all the land!"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: by making my gameplay realistic and fair to not only my character but also the other characters around me. For example, my character as a merchant would not be able to slay a god but might be able to hire guards that can protect me on my journey.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: metagaming disrupts fair roleplay because if your character knows something about a secret lair or an evil character's plot arc when they are on a different side of the world, it could change things for everyone else in the game and that wouldn't be fair to the other players experience.
