You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Quite the shock, wandering mindlessly into what he presumed to be an abandoned tent only to be greeted by a beldam, one who claims to be expecting your arrival nonetheless! The entire situation, even just from having stepped foot in it for a moment's notice, was quite perturbing to the young farmhand. Though, despite his hesitance and underlying fear, Arpiar paced forward, lowering his cloak's hood as mahogany eyes began to take in their surroundings. Eyes flickering between the candles and the crone before him, he quickly realized that have this woman had the wish of ill will for him that he likely would've been struck down by the same magic suspending the fixtures of light above. His lower half met the cushion below in a swift motion. Crossed legs, much like that of an anxious child, was the form this man took, despite his muscular and potentially intimidating stature.
"I'm here looking for my sister. I'm supposed to take her back to our family's farm but..." he trailed for a second or two, looking to the beldam with a soft grin, "I have other plans, I'm going to join her. See why she's running off, see what she enjoys so much about the world her and I have barely had the opportunity to touch." Arpiar's hand moved towards his pocket, where he'd beginning digging into for something. That something would quickly illuminate under the candles' flames! A rock, white in color and quite bulky. He motioned to forward, presenting it to the crone. "For you. A gift, if you're cautious. But, seeing as how you already knew I was coming, you already know if you're going to accept it or not, hm?" A small hum rang against Arpiar's tongues as he waited, patiently awaiting the hag's next action.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I think about how realistic the actions of my character are. Unless there are enhancements of some kind, be it from a fantasy prospect or something else, then I keep things within the realm of what I've seen or know for a fact that a human/humanoid can do. Another way I avoid this is by always using the word "attempt" in my writing if it concerns another player's oc. That way it's never a guarantee that my character is doing something to another character, it's an attempt to do so, as roleplay should be. Consent is essential when it comes to actions including other characters.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: People taking advantage of the information they know OOC can lead to entire narratives or arcs planned for characters just falling flat on its face. If someone wished to reveal something about their oc at some point but wasn't allowed due to someone who knows that out of character using it in a roleplay then that's not fair. It strips people of the opportunity to reveal things about their characters, and it can lead to unfair advantages for other characters to have!
