You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
She stares at the hag in the back, her eyes squinting with suspicion. She move my body towards her gesture, taking a seat at said cushion. She clears her throat quietly before beginning her story.
"I have traveled here for certain materials and work. I have heard that you may know of someone in need of my skills. Don't waste my time..."
She gazes upon the woman with anticipation for her answer, her leg shaking impatiently. Her patience quickly declining as the seconds tic by.
The growls in her stomach growing ever more urgent with each passing second.
"I indeed know of someone who could use your skills."
The old hag said scrunching her nose and crossing her arms as she closed her eyes for a moment, attempting to recall the name of the gentleman that had requested the help of a skilled craftsman.
"I believe his name was Ron, and you should be able to find him at his workshop in the inner city."
She let out a brief huff before aggressively standing up and walking away much to the surprise to the old hag.
"W..wait a moment!" The hag yelled as I promptly left her where she sat.
"What a waste of time.. These humans.."
She mumble to herself as she makes her way towards the inner city.
"What vague directions..." She mumbles again angrily.
Her rage starting to build as she huffs and puffs her small frame through the street.
"I swear.. if this human asks for something ridiculous.. Ugh.. such a waste of time!" She says loudly to no one but herself.
Huffing and puffing her way into this unfamiliar city.
More in depth physical description and backstory:
Pale reddish skin tone
Lighter brown hair, matted with various greenery + sticks stuck inside of the mats. Her hair would be quite long, just above her peck area in thick long mats. Often she would tie these to the back to keep them out of her face.
Pale Grey eyes, very sensitive to light
3’10”, average muscle density for their race
160 lbs
She has several piercings across her face, one over each eyebrow, a septum piercing, as well as a lower bottom lip labret piercing. All fashioned with small gold jewelry that also seem to be handicrafts.
Her tusks would be a bit thicker than average for goblins. Being rather stumpy. They reach only just above her top lip and a little under where her nose begins and are a solid thick triangle shape.
This stumpy nature is also seen in the shape of her ears. Still being pointed they are not much larger than that of a human.
Clothed in sewn together scraps of leather as a sort of makeshift armor with white cotton undergarments such as shirt and pants. This cloth is, however, filthy and has taken a gray/brown patina as it has been worn and not often washed. The makeshift armor is littered with both deep and shallow gashes, some have been cut around and replaced with different leather while others have been patched over with thinner leather scraps.
She brandishes herself with a belt of tinkering tools along with a pair of small daggers on either hip. All items look as though they have been hurriedly made with many battle/wear and tear patches and fixes to prove it.
Backstory:
Eaq (ee-ah-q) Sreld (sir-eh-el-d) comes from no important family or region. A goblin born for war. Eaq was born of two goblin parents of no importance other than their ability to tinker and create. Eaq's family were just many of the hands that helped forge and create weapons for any ongoing conflicts that the orc empires might be currently engaged in. Born in the grimy, poor streets, from a very early age Eaq had to figure out how to survive in their war and conflict filled world.
Taught by both her goblin crafting parents, Eaq picked up a knack for creating many metal handicrafts as well as the much necessary war machines.
Growing up extremally poor climate Eaq learned to make makeshift tools and weapons for themselves as well as jewelry, clothing, armor, etc. They often will repair and repair and repair instead of creating or having to purchase anything new. This is another trait she picked up from her family.
Born as an only child it was Eaq's responsibility to continue on the path of creating for the greater good of their race.
As time went on and Eaq become of age, maturing at the average rate of her species, she started to grow tired of the everyday labors put upon her by her family and her race. She grew tiresome of the war, and wanted nothing else than to quit this life and find a new one.
Being incredibly sheltered from anywhere other than her families workshop, Eaq had almost no social sense and often would stay quite rather than speaking when spoken too. Not out of a timid nature, but that of being bored and having nothing to say in response.
As Eaq continued to fantasize about the lifestyle of an adventurer, her dream, unfortunately, was forced into reality when a fire struck her parents workshop, burning it and her family to the ground. Eaq narrowly evaded this same fate as her mother had sent her on a material errand within the city. The timing couldn't have worked out any better than it did. The workshop was standing tall when Eaq left and by the time she had come back it was in ashes. This was mainly due to the level of accelerant that was inside of the workshop in the form of fuel used in various machinery.
Unable to process what had just happened, Eaq would simply sit and stare at at the ashes of her life. After finally coming to terms with what had happened, she left. She left it all behind and finally took up that life of an adventurer. What else was there for her to do? Was she to rebuild the workshop and continue in the life she never enjoyed? She thought not. Despite the horrific events, she thought it was time to finally move forward instead of being stuck.
