You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Me: Good afternoon, madam. My name is Alexander, son of William the Hunter.
The Hag: Please, sit down.
Me: (sits down) My father was an archer for a lord, and he taught me archery. I soon became a bounty hunter, explorer of the lands, and an assassin. I killed criminals, lords, spies, and military leaders.
The Hag: So, you are a soldier of fortune? Did you fight for your lord as a knight or an archer? And, if you don't mind me asking, why are you here?
Me: Yes, I fight for anyone who pays. Give me a target, and he/she will be off your chessboard. I used to be an archer for my lord, but our kingdom was destroyed by Orcs. I guess, I am just a wanderer with no kingdom. As for why I am here, I am looking for a dark elf. I hear he was a bandit leader, and I also know he comes here frequently. Your lord has payed me to find him because the elf is practicing dark magic. He has kidnapped and conducted cruel experiments on travelers. May you point out to me where the elf is?
The Hag: He comes to this lodge quite often. He informed me he will arrive here tomorrow night. Before you go, I give you this elvish bow. It will serve you well in your travels. Also, I was instructed to give you this map and letter. They are from a human king who wants to employ you into his kingdom beyond mere coin. See what he wants after your contract.
Me: (Looks at the items, carefully) Interesting... I will look into it.
