You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"And why should I? What do you mean you were expecting me?' The man paused, "You're not one of them, are you?" The man turned his head sharply, examining the hag closely. At last, he was satisfied, and continued, "No, no you cant be," he sighed, "Alright, I'll tell you from whence I came. I was born in the slums of Haense, to an alcoholic father and an mother who died in childbirth," he twisted a golden ring on his middle finger, one that looked much more valuable than anything else the man had by a wide margin. After a short pause, he continued, "I had a kind uncle, however, and he often took care of my father and me. When he died, he left the majority of his belongings to me, but my father stole them from me. Then, my father joined a gang to maintain his alcoholism, and ended up earing the trust of one of the gang's executives. He even ended up marrying the executive's cousin, which added her and her son Silva to our family.  One day this executive entrusted him with a golden ring which was worth more than my father made in ten years. My father hid this for the executive in exchange for a cut of the profit they would make when they sold it," the man paused again, and twisted the ring on his middle finger before continuing. "However, I saw where my father hid the ring. I had wanted to run away for many months, but the opportunity had never presented itself until then. So, one night, I snatched the ring and ran straight to my half-brother Silva. Silva helped me smuggle it out, and helped me escape," the man brushed the pelt draped over his shoulders. "He then tricked my father into thinking I was in a ditch, then pushed him in there. Then we ran away together, afraid of the gang, afraid of our town, afraid of my father," the man finished, not even letting the old lady ask for more details, as he simply stood up and left.
